System Restore will not take this back to what you want it to be.
And it has kept only so many Restore Points can be, depending on the amount of space is allocated for it.

If you want it to be how it was when you bought it, you do a restore to the factory settings. :

How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

http://www.eMachines.com/support/

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their way of doing recovery disk/s.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
After installation > go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/notebook > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > get latest Vista drivers for it > download/install them.
Save all data, because it will be lost during a clean installation.
  • Vista Home Premium SP2 installation problems
    SP2 says its installed but Windows Update shows it as an available update. When I view the system information, it still shows only installed SP1. I tried the standalone install and I got error 0 X 80070564 connection failed. SP2 shows as has been properly installed on Windows updates the history but it shows also the lack of installation after 2-3 hours to install, restart, then back to sp1.     Hello vinniegolf, welcome.
    I would recommend trying to create a new user account with administrative privlages and you try to upgrade to SP2 from here. This will tell us if it has something to do with the internal components of your user account.
    You can create an account via START > Control Panel > users
  • Allow non admins open files that need admin privlages
    OK, I tried to leave my son to open a specific .exe that requires admin privlages and some how you must be an administrator to do. So is there a way I could do a non administrator with parental control activated on his account be allowed to open an exacutable specific .exe file with on him being an administrater?
    It is a matter of permissions (although I have never tried to do what you try here - I have no children and I am the only user on my laptop).  Right click on the .exe file and go to properties, then the Security tab.  Add their username in their own right.  Which should allow activate the program (I think).  If it does not, it may need also to bring owner (as described below) if the system allows this.  I don't know or either of these options will work if she REALLY needs administrator privileges (it would be) but it's my best guess as to how to if it can be done.
    To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.
    To resolve this problem with the files or folders, take ownership of the files or folders or the player (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if not here - or it can be yourself or you may need to add your son). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.
  • Deleted administrator but still removing?
    Gooday,
    Bought 2nd hand iMac and deleted previous administrator but now get a screen I can't close that, when I click on it -: preferences of the user groups is to remove the name of the user account - and saving the home directory on a disk Image.
    Can someone please advise what I did problem and how do I get rid of this screen.
    See you soon,.
    Thomas J.
    Looks like he need wait for the task to complete. If the old user has had a lot of data it may take a long time to save the disk image, especially if you're low disk space. Once she is in competition, you can delete the disk image if you no longer need that data users.
    It seems that you have chosen the wrong option, perhaps you should have agreed to remove the data from the home folder instead?
    I suspect that you will have to just wait, after back if it seems that the task is at a standstill, but patience is often the best way to deal with problems of this kind.
  • How could I not run Firefox as administrator
    My Firefox opens in administrator mode, which leads me to agree to allow Firefox to make changes to my PC everytime I open it up. I read that I had to go to properties and uncheck the box all my compatibility settings, but it does not work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?
    You may disable User Account Control (UAC) in Windows instead for not getting these annoying notifications more?
  • I can only access firefox by administrator.
    Since the upgrade of Windows 10 of 7, I couldn't just run FF.
    If I try all I get is the error message
    "Firefox is already running but is not responding. The old process of Firefox must be closed to open a new window. "
    Instead, I have to now right click and select run as administrator to open FF.
    I tried different corrections as suggested here
    and here
    Hooray, fixed! Finally able to find the profile in the "appdata" and unchecked the box "readonly".
  • Thunderbird, ask administrator password. I give him and he said: no good. How to do this?
    I'm trying to download Thunderbird on Windows 7. When I click "Run" it extracted and then a window "run as" appears. My choices are myself and administrator. I tried them both. Neither work. I googled how to find the administrator password. That's what I use and it's giving me a logon failure: unknown username or bad password. When I select myself under the run as a window the window disappears and nothing happens.
    It seems that you have put yourself in place with a standard user account that does not have permission to download and install programs.
    Set your user account as an administrator or when booting Windows to connect on the admin account.
  • Upgrade Windows 10, FF40.0 - insists on "Run as Administrator"
    Hello. I have upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of weeks and have had no problems running FF.
    I got (my first?) upgrade of Windows scheduled this morning. Since that time FF does not start. The task is running in the Task Manager, but not ff.
    It WILL start when "Run as Administrator" is selected (with the accompanying message "Are you sure you want to do?"), which have helped me improve of FF 39.0.3 to 40.0, but makes no difference that this either, even after several reboots and audit of all privileges are correct.
    I would obviously prefer not having to bother the right clicks and 'run as administrator' whenever I want to go.
    Now resolved. Has turned out to be the endpoint Trusteer report - a safety program for the browser who has harassed my banking online must be installed.
    deleted via Control Panel and now Firefox works fine.
  • Upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 and Thunderbird will not work. SOLVED was not logged as an administrator
    On my laptop, conversion of Windows 8 to 10 was fine and Thunderbird has worked without any problems. On the computer of my wife who was on Windows 7, Thunderbird does not work. Thanks to this forum I could check that all emails and addresses etc. have been copied across, but Thunderbird asks me to put in place the new account because it does not acknowledge my previous POP and other parameters. Bloody Microsoft. Can anyone help?
    I have found the answer - default (why?) I was connected as administrator and therefore was not seeking the e-mail account of my wife in the same way as it would. The search in all the files and directories of profile TB, I found a test directory, where TB was given to me. Do not know what other tricks that I solved the problem, but it is all working now. And people spend their entire lives on such things?
