Adobe Captivate file size

I have a two part question. I work with Adobe Captivate for the first time, so I am of course a lot of rookie, errors, and now I'm stuck.

I have a project that is 122 229 KB, and when publishing to LMS, is 63 900 KB. I made sure all the graphics are as small as possible, but it still takes a long time to load when you access through the LMS. My first question is, what is the size of ideal file for the publication of LMS? If necessary, I may have to divide my presentation in several modules so that they are more easily, but I'm curious to know if there is an easier way to address the issue before it split.

My second part of the question: is there a way to tell Captivate to begin play the webinar when it loads? When I tested, it took about 2 minutes to load the file that in the world of technology online, it's an eternity. I hope there's a way to tell him to start playing the video during the rest of the presentation the loading in the background.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Kristen

Hello Kristen,

Welcome to the forums. For your last question: you can reduce the Preloader % in Preferences, project, start & end. Its default value is 100%, which means that the entire project is loaded before playing. Also: avoid having a heavy slide first, no audio action, not complicated, etc..

There is no ideal real file size, because it depends on many factors. Keep the resolution as low as possible, I mean the size in pixels. You talk about graphics: what type of graphics do you use. If you're on the CP9, he agrees to SVG which, in most cases, have smaller file than bitmap images. But it's not only the graphics that define the size of the file: as the number of slides, images, audio and video clips.

  • Huge Captivate files sizes

I have been using Captivate to push an audio recording of a presentation in the presentation slides. The audio is in the form of a large mp3 file. When adding audio, I selects the option to split on several issues and align all the slides in the right part of the audio. If I need to change the time drag or audio (which often happens because captivate seems to be rather buggy when split the single audio track into one for each slide) the Captivate project file as a result of the rockets in the size of the file. I think it's because he keeps a copy of all audio used in Captivate, IE a copy of old and new together, mp3 stream before and after editing.

If this happens a few times the file size increases accordingly and for a presentation of 50 min, I'm looking at 1.3 GB project files. These are clearly pushing my (powerful dual core, 2 GB of RAM) funds up to the limit. I tried to remove all the elements of the portion of the library, but this makes no difference to the size of the projects.

To illustrate the problem to my friend, I have EVERYTHING deleted from the library, has added 1 new blank slide and deleted all other slides. This project had the air is like a brand new white. When recording (such as a new cp file) the project was infact 1.16 GB in size. Huh?

Is it possible to delete the files of projects other than the library captivate?

Yes, I am using captivate 3.0, which is where I met the problem. I tried the technique ' save, save under ", which slightly increased the size of the file. The technique of the 'new presentation, copy paste' worked for me - 1.3 GB-> 0.3 GB.

Just open 2 instances of captivate, enjoying a nice big project at fault and the other open a new blank project. Then copy and paste all the slides of an inot the other. You may need to remove the first blank slide that was already in the empty project. Then save the new project and smiling like crazy in file size!

  • Converting PPT to the Captivate file size - why is is on the rise?

I have Captivate 7-64 bit. I'm trying to convert several .pptx presentations. Each presentation is about 60 MB. Curiously, however, when I convert, they increase in size to 320 MB or something close. A few months back we did this same thing with a presentation of 70 MB, and it rose only 20 MB. Any ideas on why this would be or how to keep it small? I still have audio input and this will make that huge file!

    Thanks in advance,

    Arthur

The difference between the .cptx and the final output file was negligible - something like 20 to 40 MB. Whatever it is, to work around the problem, now, we simply recorded each slide in the .ppt as a jpg, reduced resolution and quality, then downloaded to them. That, at least, is now small enough so that we can manage it. Still not sure why we can't just import the .ppt himself well that without it increases tenfold and without certain images does not. This conversion of .ppt feature seems useless to me. In doing my research, it seems everyone rally articulate it is the best option for the conversion of .ppt. May be the case.

  • Adobe Captivate 4 Quiz (Matching) drop-down list too small font size.

    Hello

We use Adobe Captivate 4.  Quiz (matching).  Exported to SWF format.

The drop-down list the fonts are small. We want to use a larger font in the drop-down list, but couldn't find a way.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

    Hello

Formatting of the slides in Question of CP is sometimes a pain. I can't give you a correct answer, but it would be great if you filed a feature request to the team to have more control over the styles used in this drop-down list (the link is on the homepage of this forum). If we are many to demand improvements, fine higher up on the priority list.

As you've probably discovered, in the properties of the corresponding drop down lists Question slide you can change font color, the font size not. My correct solution is to choose a font that gives the best result, certain fonts really look bigger than the others. This is not always compatible with the styles in the rest of the film, but I fit all of the text in Question slides to this font.

Regret not to be able to help. Question slides are in the folder, but in SWC format, and I can not open these files, even if I installed Flash CS4. Maybe a Flash-wise guy will appear automatically in to help you.

  • Captivate 3 - everyone figured out how to reduce to a CP project file size?

    Greetings,

I think that this question has been asked before, but I was unable to find a solution to the problem and I was wondering if someone else (a solution).

Some people called this phenomena "file bloat".

I'm using Captivate 3. In the process of adding and deleting slides the .cp file gets quite large. I tried to do the thing of "save under...". ». I also tried the unused resources removal (graphics, backgrounds, etc) and save the file again. Nothing seems to work.

I tried to import a project into an empty project (the application seems to work, but nothing happens). I tried export in XML format and the file will not import (corrupted).

If someone managed to find an answer on how to remove unused slides/resources of a Captivate project "inflated". Apart from rebuild the project file from scratch is there a solution?

    Thank you

    TPK

    Hello

The only way I've ever seen a reduction in file size Captivate 3 was by performing the following steps:

    1. Open a second instance of Captivate.
    2. Create a new empty project of same size as the other instance.
    3. Switching between instances, copy slides of the bloated and paste into the fresh.
    4. Save a new and the file size is reduced.
    5. Throw away the old one.

Note that you will probably need to restore links that you had.

Just a note special here on one of the things that you have tried. You said that you exported in XML format. I don't think that you can export as XML and then import XML into a new project. I think that the XML export works very similarly to the export of Microsoft Word. Only the exported project he will be able to properly re - import. If I understand correctly, the XML export is designed to Captivate developers who need to locate (translate) their projects.

  • File size a massive increase in Captivate 2

I just finished reviewing a manifestation of the old.

    1. the old film, worm 1.01.1418 (42 slides), is 36, 900ko.
    2. the new film, ver 2.0.0 (57 slides), is 338, 638 KB.

Both have audio, notes, text captions, and highlights.

The only big change is that we use the new captioning function.

Someone else has met and solved this problem?

I don't think that I can break it in enough segments without making end users lose interest and I think I have to Snag Screenprints and recreate in Adobe Presenter.

Captivate support found the answer to my problem and it is in the LIBRARY of the current file.

With the .cp file opens and the LIBRARY pane visible, look at the toolbar of LIBRARY.

    1. Select the tool SELECT the UNUSED ELEMENTS.
    2. THE ITEMS will be highlighted in blue.
    3. Select the REMOVE tool.
    4. prior to the economy, overview of the project (F4) to ensure nothing necessary has been deleted (just a small step paranoia)
    5. close and exit to check file size reduction.

Reader Digest Version: prior to publication, to delete unused items.

Note: If you try this and it solves your problems, send praise to Bruce Chizen, CEO of Adobe.

We strongly believe in for Training Solutions Adobe products (presenter, Connect, Captivate, Robohelp and soon CS3) and encourage us to use throughout our society. When I expressed my frustration of not being able to contact support in due course on this issue, Mr. Chizen came through.

  • The maximum size of the Captivate file

Is there a limitation of file size of Captivate projects or a maximum number of slides that can be included in a project?

    Hi Jay

I saw some other report that Support Adobe boasts a 50 meg orientation 'Cap '. I have always recommended 50-65 slides as a very broad and general upper limit. That varies of course, depends on several factors. The number of objects on each slide, the dimensions off-brand project, etc.

  • Importing video alpha channel: what to export for Adobe Premiere? Reduced file size Important.

I want to import a small 20 second animation at 1920 x 1080, RGB + alpha superimposed, all less than 5 MB of After Effects in Adobe Premiere. What are my options? Used to be my go-to the file format FLV files. An example FLV pose this requirement would be around 700 KB.

Export in. MOV with Alpha as a result of this same file 700KB to 950MB (difference of size of files after x 1350).

Export in. AVI with Alpha translates this same file 700KB to 9800 MB (a x 14000 times difference in file size).

Export in lossless with Alpha translates this same file 700KB to 1100 MB (difference of size of files after x 1500).

I surrender all the little animations of 10-30 per project and make them all integrated into Adobe Premiere, so a dynamic link is not practical. This was a nice project of ~ 15MB will now have to be (at least) a project of ~ 20GB. This is not sustainable.

    Any help appreciated, thanks.

    My choice would be Cineform.

The files will be not small, but it is an unreasonable expectation here, I think.  The size of the intermediaries is not usually something that worry, not only the expected results.

The update should be available to help, updated. It is available since October 2014.

Being administrator is not the same thing as Captivate running as an administrator that must be put in place in the menu right click on the shortcut that launches Captivate. You have restricted functionality if this is not done.

I told you how to clear preferences, with the file Utils. First close Captivate, when you restart CP will create a new preferences folder.

If you have a lot of customization that you will lose when the erasing of the preferences. To keep them, have a look at my blog:

The file is not already open.

-the hard drive has a sufficient space available

Is it possible to turn the dilemma 2 projects (.2qn file extension) in Adobe Captivate 8 projects? I tried to save the embarrassing situation in a text file, but Captivate wouldn't import correctly.

    Hello

I've never seen such a method. I think you will find that you must simply recreate your dilemma inside Captivate project and forget all means of import.

The only thing that comes to mind would be to import the project dilemma in PowerPoint. (Assuming that such a thing exists) then import the PPT in Captivate. But you wouldn't be able to make everything connect.

  • I try to install Captivate 8, trial version, but I get the following message appears: missing part archive file of Adobe Captivate 8 (64-bit)

    The entire message says:

What Miss me?  When I downloaded the file Captivate_8_x64_LS21, he said that it would be an extension of the .7z, but have downloaded as a .exe instead.

    Hello

You receive the error because the two files (.7z and .exe) of Captivate 8 not downloaded in the same place.

Please find the procedure for downloading and installing Captivate 8 (64-bit): -.

Say the mention of the link below in any Internet Explorer open Web browser

    https://www.Adobe.com/cfusion/TDRC/index.cfm?product=Captivate

Sign in using your Adobe id and your password, then you will be redirected to download the Captivate 8 Web Page.

Do not click download. Kindly leave this window open as it is.

Now copy and paste the reference to the link below in the new window of the same Web browser in which you opened the link above.

    http://trials3.Adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/8/Win64/Captivate_8_x64_LS21.7z

    Then Save the file.

Do the same for the mention of the link below and save the file .exe so.

    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/8/Win64/Captivate_8_x64_LS21.exe

Make sure the two files (.7z and .exe) save/download in the same folder/location.

NOTE: Wait for the two files at the end of download and then run the .exe file.

Once you run the .exe, it will begin to extract the .7z file and provide Captivate 8 folder on your desktop that contains setup.exe. Run the setup.exe to install 8 Captivate.

    Kind regards
    Ajit
