Adobe programs are not open files adobe

I responded to a thread that someone posted on Adobe Reader X (10.1.3) but it seems to have disappeared here.

A few weeks ago Adobe went ahead and installed an update to Adobe Reader X (10.1.3) that made it impossible for me to open PDF files and now my HP Deskjet F4240 no longer works with my system. There is a file open Adobe on my computer my system (button of the window + r + cmd, etc.) does not allow me to 'kill '. I and the following messages:

Adobe Reader.

I tired for more than a week to get this mess straightened out. This Adobe file is pernicious.

Of course, looks like it could be a virus or corrupt files.  Here are a few things you can check.

Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

-

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

-

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To do that click on start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

`

When you get your system in good working condition, I invite you to back up your system up to an external hard drive and make it regular periodic updates.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

  • programs are not open immediately

When I try to open any program from the internet to word, thing keeps popping up and I have to click on things at random just for the program to open and it does not work when you click the icon, this screen always appears and asks me to create an association in the set Associations control panel and I don't know how to do and I wonder why I have to do?

.doc or .docx and possibly .dot and .rtf are more associated with MS Word and what needs to be repaired.  David has provided the link to the restore process.

    In short,.

Will will start / Default programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program / and scroll down the list until you come. doc.  It is probably not MS Word.  Click on change and change for MS Word (msy you must navigate to the executable file in the Program Files folder (or one of the Sub - folders - probably Microsoft / Office / Office12)).  Once this problem is corrected, check other file extensions and correct them if necessary.

That should do the trick.  If this is the case with other extensions of files (with the exception of the system files) do essentially the same thing.)

If this does not work, try a system restore.  Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

If this still does not work, transfer your question in the Discussion of the Office group at: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.word.docmanagement&lang=en&cr=US where people who specialize in Microsoft Word questions will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

  • How can I recover the files and programs before a system restore? my document folders are all empty and my programs will not open!

How can I recover the files and programs before a system restore?  my document folders are all empty and my programs will not open!

I know they are there and hidden somewhere, but this restoration took my settings of the computer to 2004! We lost all our data, our software that we use to operate our company at home, our quickbooks that has all our financial data, family photos, videos, Outlook will work not so no e-mail, all turned in time and 6 years ' worth of documents have disappeared.

What happeneded was that I was trying to upgrade to quickbooks software when I got an error, I cancelled out of the facility, then restarted and that's when I got an error hal.dll something? I thought about a system restore would allow me to go back in time to just before when the error occurred, but he basically took my computer back to factory settings, so all the programs that I installed and paid hundreds of dollars for the past six years has disappeared, Microsoft Office and very expensive construction estimating software that we wil have to pay once AGAIN for If I can't get this program working properly.

    I am a fool! I can't believe what's happening.

Someone at - it instructions on how I can retrieve either the programs and data that I need specifically or how to go and seek shade from the files I read online on and restore my computer for about 12 hours ago?

Looks like you did a system rather than a system restore recovery.  If you have inserted a disc supplied with your machine and booted from it, you probably erased the disc and installed the original operating system provided with your computer.  Usually, a step in this recovery is to do a full format or quick of your drive.  If you did a full format, your data is permanently lost.  With a quick format, your data may still be there, somewhere but inaccessible by normal means.  Applications must generally be installed, in order to recover the files probably will not help unless you have the original installation media.  Your other data files (images, videos, financial data) may be salvageable, but at this point, it would be advisable to take your computer or your disk to a business/professional who is experienced with data disc recovery.  It will be cheap and there is no guarantee.

Impatient, remember investigate you a backup strategy for your computer and critical data.  Hard drives can go wrong with little or no warning.

  • .exe files are not open; affected by the Windows Security Center of lazy virus

    Hello!

As the title indicates, none of my executables will open his; on the contrary, when I click on an icon or similar function (as in the start menu), I'm inclined to the screen 'open with... ». I noticed that most often, if I run the program as administrator, it is likely to work without having to manually find the file - still a bit tedious however.

I'm assuming that since I was recently hit by the virus which is a fake Windows Security Center, something my registry has also been hit (take into account the fact that I'm not savvy computer in the slightest). It happened on my user account initial and rather than take action on the right, then, I decided that I would use the other account that I had to install a program better anti-virus (Norton provided ISP) than the one I had been using (the two admin). At that point, I had finished all my activity moved to the new account and it worked very well until the virus had one possessing this account as well - delete on the first user account seemed to have deleted only the effects of my account but still affected everything I did after that. This time, I went and deleted all accounts and checked to ensure that it is not at all. After getting rid of the virus, it's the same thing: none of my .exe files will open without using the monitor "open with...". ». I'm not really sure what action to take from here, I have not done much to remedy the situation, and I'm going right through the screen of "open with...". "to get to what whatever - so any suggestions or help would be very appreciated.

    Keypoints:

    • .exe files are not open (However, in some cases, the "Run as Administrator" option overrides it)
    • recently hit with (deleted) and fake Windows Security Center virus ; That's when the .exe is no longer
    • is not much in terms of addressing this problem, do not know what to do with regard to the question of if my situation calls for something specific

I tried to cover everything that seemed important to address; However, if there is more need information, let me know. I am about average in terms of computer navigation and therefore my understanding of what many of these commands, functions and files is a bit Basic.

    Thank you! :)

Thanks for the very comprehensive post. Run the Doug Knox fix (that isn't a .exe that you can do this).

All of my icon are icons of java.  When I click, a back short style window appears, then disappears. I can not open files or links. What is the simple solution? This CHANGE occurred on 15 July.

    The simple solution is:

    1. type the word restore in your Start menu.  Some options will appear.  Choose to restore the system and settings files
2 - Click Next, choose July 14 (or a date before the problem occurred), and then click Next again.  Your system will restart with repaired parameters.

  • .bat file changed in an .exe file that opens a file linked to the main program does not open after packed

    Here's what's happening.

I have an add on package I wanted to pack with a main program.  The problem is that the add-on is not an .exe file so I had to make a .bat file to open it, which, unfortunately, is not recognized as a user entry point.   So I converted the file .bat to .exe file so that I could create a user to this file entry point.

It is a situation similar to opening a word document and it will automatically open Microsoft word.  Only in my case I create a batch file for this word document and then convert it into a .exe file so I could create a user for this document entry point.

So in my case after it's all packed to the top and I run the user entry point, I get an error could not open file.  Is that what I would call a linked file?  I'm packing up under copy writing/isolation mode and not in merged mode.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Christopher2222,

In most cases, you won't need to run the application during the capture process. In some scenarios it will probably a solution to set some values "first round" for an application.

In this case, you try to start a batch (bat) file. All Thinstall/ThinApp scenarios with a bat file to add this to your package.ini

    giveitaname.exe

    Source=%SystemSystem%\cmd.exe

    Shortcut = YourPackageContainer.dat

    CommandLine=%SystemSystem%\cmd.exe/k C:\PathToYourBatchFile\start.bat OptionalParameter1 OptionalParameter2

The UNC path is not recommended.

New PC with Windows XP, XP replacement. My PDF docs are not open and I get the following messages: BE Adobe Reader could not open 'xxx.doc' because it is not a type of supported file or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an attachment to e-mail and has not been correctly decoded). OR Word now converts your PDF in an editable Word document. This can take some time. etc. Help please.

You have Microsoft Word installed? If so, it seems that you need to change your file associations so that Word opens files .doc instead of the player. To do this, select a .doc file, right-click and choose "open with > choose default program", select MS Word and make sure that "Always use the selected program to open this type of file" is selected.
