Adobe Reader error (21)

Help, please!

When you try to save a file of PDF from Adobe; I get this error message: "the document could not be saved. There was a problem reading the document. (21) after I closed the box, a separate box appears saying: "Insufficient data for a picture." I tried to update Adobe and also tried the fix, I currently have Adobe Reader 11.0.10. Subsequently, the image is distorted and missing things. Please help me!

I received an email with an attached pdf document.  Had all the same issues listed in this thread.  Error (21), insufficient for an image"Save as creates a document with nothing in it. I tried to save my downloads folder, but had the same problems even when I moved the file to the downloads folder to the location final and manually changed the name of the file.  WORKAROUND: save the file directly from the email on the desktop.  Then move this file where I wanted to save on my computer and manually change the name.  Now, when I open the document, I see all the information in the document.

It sounds like your Adobe Reader installation is corrupt.  Uninstall in Control Panel, then reinstall it.  You can download the latest installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Update of Adobe Reader-error 1500

You don't mention your operating system, but I guess you're on Windows.

Try uninstalling your current drive from Control Panel | Add/Remove programs.  If this also gives you an error, remove it by using The Windows Installer Cleanup utility.

Once removed, download the Installer http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe (English version); This record, and then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.

If this does not work, please specify your Windows version and the complete error message 1500.

  • Print PDFs with Adobe Reader error

Sometimes when I try to print a PDF with Adobe Reader, it will print the first two pages OK, then the rest will be ruined. This may be the cause for this?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Probably a printer driver problem.  Try to update the printer driver to the latest version from the manufacturers Web site and check the printer cable is properly connected and is directly to the printer.

Reinstall the latest version of Acrobat (you must download it, install it, then check the updates, thanks to Adobe being so weird not giving the latest patches for download), and then try again. A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... and download Adobe Reader 11.0 installation base.

Then download each individual updates and run them sequentially.

I installed back to the last update of security which is version 08 and were able to register under normal operations.

You will need to disable the automatic updates to keep up with the 08 version, until Adobe fixes this problem in a future release.

  • Adobe reader - defective module error: Comctl32.dll

Running Windows 7 Home Premium, SP 1.
Computer is ACER Aspire - laptop 4830TG with 8 GB of RAM, processor intel i5 - 2430M.

Not sure when this happened, but I am unable to open Adobe Reader 10.  The error indicates the fault module to be Comctl32.dll, specifically,

    C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft.Windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.7601.17514_none_41e6975e2bd6f2b2\Comctl32.dll

    The size is 619KB

Player will initialize, but off vacuum and freeze as soon as he tries to do anything, including the posting of a menu bar.  I reinstalled drive several times and took first.  It seems that the issue is really the Comctl32.dll file.  There are so many versions on my system is unable to find a way to tell if it is corrupt.
    Virus scan shows no risk.
Cannot restore far enough to make a difference.

Does anyone else have a problem like this?

Any other suggestions?  I really appreciate one, hoping you have another for the flash player or I can't watch all the great you tube movies.
