  20/09/2014: had the Mavericks for ~ 1 month. Acrobat Reader from Adobe work very well.

  OS X Got notice of Acrobat update 10.9.4. I did and it could not be updated and got the above message! V. 10.1.12. I searched and found Acrobat v. 11.0.07, I trashed/uninstalled Adobe Reader 10. app & also trashed; Adobe Acrobat.com.app folder.

  I D/L new software Adobe Acrobat Reader v. 11.0.07. It worked fine!

  Then I upgraded OS X in v. 10.9.5. new software Adobe Acrobat Reader v. 11.0.07. Always worked well!  Hours later, he failed to start with the error message above again!

  (Crash newspapers available if necessary to solve this problem)

  Now using Mac preview to open PDF files.

  BTW, I clicked on 'get Info' on the reader app & see that a box has been ticked "open in 32-bit mode". Given that my Mac is 64-bit, I unchecked that box & tried again launch & same exact error.

  Please try unistalling Adobe Reader and system cleaning by the following steps:

  1. go to/Applications/Adobe Reader.app. Drag and drop this app in the trash.

  2. go to the Internet plug-ins present in the System/Library/Internet Plug-Ins library - / and put the following in the Trash:

  (a) / Library/Internet Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin

  (b) / Library/Internet Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin

  3. go to/Library/Application Support / Adobe and move the following files to the Trash:

  (a) / Library/Application Support/Adobe/Reader

  (b) / Library/Application Support/Adobe/HelpCfg

  4. go to /Library/Preferences/com.adobe.acrobat.pdfviewer.plist and place this plist in the trash.

  Restart your Mac.Try install Adobe Reader ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/11.x/11.0.09/en_US/AdbeRdr11009_en_US.dmg 11.0.09

  In the page layout, you can change the printer to a single Note and then click Print. A note, you can use:

  File > save as > PDF > save

  You can then display in Adobe Reader

  You need to uninstall Adobe Reader unpatched software and install one of the PDF readers alternatives to its place as long as product Adobe is fixed, although you may find you like other products all also, or more.

  We recently released Adobe Reader XI, we use internally an integrated Adobe Acrobat Microsoft Certificate Server to digitally sign pdf documents using digital certificates, this works on Adobe Acrobat Standard for XI.

  However it seems that Adobe reader has the options under sign > "works with certificates" but everything on the Menu shows greyed out. Are there settings that must be enabled for this make it functional?

  With the closed drive, go to your Applications folder and double-click the drive icon. When the Player opens, follow suit to accept the license and close the player. Just in case, restart your computer before doing anything else.

My computer was fine to open any PDF file, and I don't know since when it prevented me to open any PDF file. :( What actually happened is when whenever I tried to open a PDF file and windows just automatically close adobe reader and say that there is a problem with adobe reader. So all of this just stopped himself! Windows said it was DEP prevents viruses and bad things to the computer and so and so... I tried to reset the DEP option on my computer, but it says that you can not turn off DEP for this program (adobe reader software). Very well, very well. By part I meant that I can open only PDFs that have already registered on my computer, but not the web browser.  I then went to the Web site of firefox (the browser I normally use) for help and it fixed the problem. However... today, I turned on my computer and tried to open a PDF file on the web broswer, everything was back to where it was! What the hell is happening? I can't open any PDF file with adobe reader, and I need to open the files of sugar! PLEASE HELP ME! Thank you. : D

  I am pleased that succeeded installing on Windows 10-, but I forgot to warn you that updates automatic you will improve reader DC! In Reader XI under Edit > preferences > Updater, you can select "do not download or install updates automatically" and apply future reader XI patches yourself (the next update will probably be within 2 months). It should also be possible to change the registry so that the automatic updates won't give you upgraded DC. I have not made myself, but are looking for iDisablePromptForUpgrade on this link: Windows updates.
