Advice on maintenance spare FDMEE

Dear,

Could you advise on the housekeeping FDMEE, in fact tables and file system tend to grow after each closing campaign. Could you advise on temporary to clear tables and files & directories to purge? We use 11.1.2.3, but it shouldn't be a big gap about 11.1.2.4.

Thank you very much.

There are certain features to purge some of indigestion that can fit over time in FDMEE 11.1.2.4.100 - see "purge scripts" here https://updates.oracle.com/Orion/Services/download?type=readme&aru=19686356#_Toc434314057

One thing you could do with 11.1.2.3 would be nice to serve operator ODI logs because they can be quite verbose and take a lot of space (ODI guys recommend that happens fairly regularly). You should be able to find more information about the purge of ODI operator logs but in the ODI docs or with a quick search on the web.

  • I recently archived and many folders now have a white enamel 31/12/1969 in them

I have read a few comments 31/12/69 and don't think I saw that the question posed in this way. I have compact regularly. I read a comment on the "corrupt" possible header and date files. The recommendation was to rebuild the Inbox or the folder. I'll try it and comment back if it worked or not

OK, background... dates are just numbers. In the case of the Microsoft's C++ compiler used to compile Thunderbird and other Mozilla products the earlier positive number for a date is January 1, 1970. If a date is zero, then 31/12/1969, that's what a computer program will often display.

In the case of Thunderbird date zero on an email is pretty much impossible, unless there is something else wrong. More generally, the mail store has become corrupted then a 'no date' is read in a date field.

A mail store corruption is a serious matter and complete loss of data is usually only one not far away. Copy all mail posted to another folder and then right-click on the affected folder and select compact on the menu. This will erase corruption, but usually at the expense of all mail received after that point in the file. That's why copying their first elsewhere (if you can)

You can see the recommendation to move mail to other folders in the Inbox as a function of maintenance spare. The main objective is to get your mail out of the Inbox that is the most likely place for corruption to occur as mail gets added removed and moved constantly. In other cases, mail gets usually just added and the file grows.

    PLEASE HELP ME.

I'd be interested to see a report of Disk Defragmenter. Open Disk Defragmenter and click analysis. Select view report, and then click Save as and save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents folder. Open the file, and place the cursor anywhere in the file, select Edition, select all to select all the text and copy and paste into the body of your message. To do this, before you run Disk Defragmenter because it is more informative.

After posting the Defragmenter report try some maintenance spare.

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Using the system restore option is most appropriate when your system is slow and you need to increase the free disk space on your C partition. If you have errors that could be solved by using the system restore to your system settings back to before the error occurred initially do not use this option.

If more than one person uses the computer and they have their own user log you need to run Disk Cleanup in each user profile that you want to delete all the unwanted files.

A better program of disk cleanup is cCleaner. Delete System Restore points may be important if you have little free disk space. The ability to delete them is one of the tools options. You can selectively remove those created in less important moments.

cCleaner comes with a registry tool. Do not use this tool as any registry cleaner could lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors.

  • My desktop screen takes a long time to load.

It takes a good 15 minutes to load my desktop screen. The shortcut icons are the last thing to appear. I tried to do a virus scan, I defragment the hard drive, I have run a maintenance program and deleted unnecessary files... I tried turning off and back on. Help would be very appreciated. :)

After the good advice of maintenance you have tried, I would recommend deleting or disabling the programs that run automatically.  These auto-run programs slow start the system and are generally not needed (and you can always run the program yourself later if you want).

To do this, in Windows Vista:

    1. Start the utility Configuration of Microsoft
Press +R to display the race.  Type MSCONFIG and click OK.
    2. Remove unnecessary programs from startup
Go to the Startup tab and disable all programs that you do not want automatic loading when your computer starts.  Be sure you do not turn off your antivirus software, but consider things related to Adobe, Facebook, Google, catalyst or display/graphics and nothing else, that you recognize that you don't need.

If you are not sure, it is safe to disable it and test it.  If you find something you need, you can always go back and turn it back on.

  • Charge of $621,78 for the bad hard drive

    Hi all

I know that this is not a question of remedy, but it should be expressed somewhere I found that I was charged for a Fujitsu 250 GB SATA HDD $621,78. Exact same drive price on ebay is $ 68. The party is certainly my fault. It was a warranty repair that turned bad. I put the old hard drive in the corner, and I forgot to return it. Warning e-mails of an imminent load was not read because of anti-spam filters. My fault. However, there is no way anyone can claim that a hard drive is worth anywhere near that amount. The laptop (a dv6700) was around $ 800! I called customer service and said that it can not be repaid, even if I have to return the defective part. I am currently waiting on a call while my case was refitted. I want just opinion of the public on this, and perhaps an HP employee who can actually do something about it will be advice. The spare part # the disk hard is 453775-001. Come on HP!

    Frustrated,

    -Corey Hansen

Gee... Thanks for the helpful reply. I already know it's my fault. The point is, I can't expect to pay that kind of money for a hard drive.

In any case, I'm happy to say that my money will be repaid. I got on the phone with them yesterday and they sent me directly to their row escalated. Apparently, the guy who helped me before in fact did nothing. All I have to do is send in the old part. Done and done.

At least we know there are a couple of sane people that work the lines of HP service. Just pray you get one when you call.

  • Defective spare battery - seller says I need to update BIOS - advice needed

    Any advice will be appreciated.

I bought a spare online battery for my laptop. Since the replacement of the battery, the PC has increased its noise level (IE more often that otherwise seems overwork), so I did a "HP Battery Check" and the result States "one or several cells don't work properly. I contacted the seller, and they say I need to update my BIOS.

I'm a little worried about it for several reasons:
    1. the software clearly indicates that the battery is not working properly.
    2. the computer and all other software works well.
    3. I have never played with before BIOS and after googling "update of the BIOS", almost all suggest "DO NOT go" unless: you know what you do / the problem is clearly a related problem of BIOS (HP State diagnostics is the battery... and shows no system other problems).

I'm ok with the replacement of hard drives, RAM etc and treat fairly confident with most software and hardware problems, but I never tried to update a BIOS... and as I need my laptop (and all software running on this subject at the moment) and do not want to go through the stress of venturing into uncharted territory on a current PC - I'm more tempted to just buy another battery from a different company and put this to a bad experience online, as the seller does not simply want for refund or Exchange (as much as the cost of replacing the battery... still!... compared to the opening of a world of problems after trying to update a BIOS which seems to work very well anyway!).

As I said, any advice would be really appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    James

PS No. knew software or hardware has been installed since the replacement of the battery

Details of the laptop: HP G70 111EA laptop, Intel Core Duo T5800 @ 2.00 GHz, 3 GB RAM, Vista Home Premium (32 bit).

If the purchased battery has been specified in the appropriate type for your computer, I see no reason why a BIOS update would make a difference. More likely, the seller hope you will turn your computer into a brick by updating the BIOS, making it a moot issue bad battery.

Before you start, I would do anything I can to put in place from an outside source if the battery is actually defective. If you do not know someone with a similar laptop, a computer store or from taking the battery might check what said you that your software. A bad cell in a battery is usually obvious by a voltage drop so that the battery either distributes the specified voltage or it is not.

If the battery is really bad, they know you ship the battery to them (signature required) and then proceed to cancel any credit card (or other method of payment online product/service) charges. While online sales generally operate at profit margins very tight, which, in itself, does not not to honour a request for an exchange of the product. Stop payment on an item usually attracts attention.
  • The laptop battery maintenance: conflicting advice in the Knowledge Base?

According to article MSW700073, taking care of your laptop batteryKnowledge Base, you should:

"Use your battery to keep it cool. Don't let your computer permanently connected. It's a good idea to discharge and then recharge your laptop battery once a month. In addition, you should let your battery run before that recharge you it. »

On the other hand, article Specifies how is battery meter? (no number; emphasis added):

"Most laptops use lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. Like most batteries, lithium-ion batteries gradually lose their ability to store energy as they get older, whether or not charge you. Over time, this change in storage capacity significantly affects the accuracy of the battery meter. If frequently drain you a lithium-ion battery, and then recharge it, it can quickly lose its ability to hold a charge, which affects the accuracy of the battery meter. The practice of completely draining the battery and then full charge is recommended which applied to batteries nickel-cadmium (NiCd) and, to a lesser extent, the nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries. Lithium-ion batteries last longer if you charge them often, a little at a time, to maintain a minimum load of about 40 percent capacity.

These statements seem contradictory.  Which is correct? If they are really contradictory, how do you get the incorrect an answer key?

    Thank you
    Terry

Yes, it is true that computer end up by losing their properties, but they are still ok, it's a good idea to 'exercise' the battery now and again...

  • Can you give me advice on the maintenance of windows 7 please?

I have reset my desktop computer windows 7 64 bit to factory settings, but for the first time in 5 years I did not put any software melody in it. in the past, I got tuneup utilities, avg pc tune up, boostspeed, pc tools and norton clean (not all at the same time over the years lol). Anyway, I have been using since restored factory 3 days ago is the cleaning of windows disk 7, defragmentation and basic ccleaner (with no boxes checked only the value default ones). of course, when I uninstalled the * software preload I deleted the registry entries manually as I always do and found the left on the software manually using the Sub tools all research. After much searching around google, the reason for which I have not installed a tune up software is because they have all said that they have done more damage that good which I now believe it is true because my pc is running much better without it. BUT it is slow light, but what I'm asking, it is, is what I'm using enough or there at - it all the other tips you can give? Thank you very much

As you've found third tune up utilities can and are causing problems.

  • What is the proper maintenance of Photosmart printer?

My first inkjet printer is a HP Deskjet 842c and it worked fine for almost ten years before that I gave to my friend - still works.  After having such a reliable product, it's a no-brainer to buy a HP printer again.  In 2009, I did a serious upgrade and got an all-in-One (TouchSmart Web of HP Photosmart Premium all-in-One Printer C309n) with all the bells and whistles... scanner, fax, wireless, capable of printing photos.  I immediately fell in love with her, using a scanner and print more photos...

I was very surprised to find out this week that a component, I had not heard of, called a print head was not working and needed replacement.  HP parts helped me and got spare $ 50 for me in a few days.  When it arrived, I did everything the instructions advised - remove the old part, clean the printer in a specific area and the manner and replace all ink cartridges (which cost me a lot).  After much work and calls to HP, I was informed that the printer itself wad dead replacement and necessary. I was shocked, as the life expectancy of my first HP printer had been so long.

I really want to buy a HP Photosmart once again, but want to make sure I'm doing everything that is good to keep the happy printer and have a long life.  If there is no regular maintenance, cleaning, etc. I do with my new inkjet can someone advise to extend the life of it?  When I removed the original printhead, that he had a bunch of gunked-up ink on it, and that was obviously not good for her.  I never even bought an extended warranty, since I had no failures of the first.  I'll get it for my next.

Any advice would be greatly appreicated help me...

    Hello

Sorry to hear about your experience, it sounds like one you print a lot and I was chatting with some people here, to see what printer model that would better suit you your needs. If you want to stick with a photosmart, you could go with a system of 5 ink print head again. This could be a good option that you already have a print head "spare" if something goes wrong. Otherwise, you could get away PS and look to Officejet Pro instead. Take a look at the printer Buying Guide for more information http://h71036.www7.hp.com/hho/cache/597655-0-0-225-121.html

BTW, if you are having problems printing quality that people have had success with the printhead from soaking recommended by Bob in this post , I would say only this, if you are out of warranty, otherwise contact the HP Support.

You could make ordinary print head cleans, but just be warned that little ink get used during this process.

Hope it will be useful to you. I would suggest contacting HP when buying is still once it is probably of discounts available for upgrade to new models of printers.

  • Update of the MacPro early 2008 (many questions-advice welcome)

I have a Mac Pro 3.1 early 2008 (2xQuad-Core-8 cores taken on 2 processors, L2 cache 12 MB per processor - 32 GB of memory). OS El Capitan 10.11.4

I'll upgrade to the best of the ability of my budget to get best performance with Photoshop and Lightroom 2015 and related software. I am a bit out of the loop that I have not followed what is happening since 2010, just as as a spectator for the most... I searched extensively and intensively for several weeks and it seems that the more I learn, less I some what to do... I will list my plans interim and my doubts and questions and hope that some kind soul will offer advice, maybe share some information on where to go for further clarification or just tell me what to do! I'm not easily offended by constructive criticism.

So thanks in advance for any help...

    1. I have an ATI Radeon 5770 1 Slot PCIe (I have concerns everything) and a 120 GB OWC Mercury Accelsior E2 PCI Express high performance SSD with eSATA expansion Ports - these are not esata port multiplier. I'm not sure what to do with these, they are 6GBs ports. I was thinking about a work drive raid 0 to a port with a couple of SSDS too adequate or sufficient (not sure what size here). I'm owner also already ST2000DM001 of Seagate 2 disc HARD Barracuda 2 TB SATAII 6 GB-s technology 7200 RPM drive naked cover brand new in packaging.

    2. my berries are full of old records.  My system and applications are on a 500GB - I have a 1 to filled with photoshop psd for the most part - files (I just read that it is best to keep the TIFF files as non-compressed and I wonder if my psd files saved can hurt convert tiff files), a 1 TB partitioned into 800 MB for the current photoshop files and 200 for personal documents files I have the original 320 GB I was using as a small raid 0 dedicated to the photoshop file I had open and stops. the 120 GB in the Accelsior of mercury, can I use as a scratch disk. This screwy configuration is in response to my external LaCie recently dying (it's what I wa using machines - (this player been gave me, even though I know better than to buy whatever it is named lacie) I have everything backed up on bluray but I am aware of the precariousness of my set-up.) I have a bootable mavericks and a yosemite bootable on flash drives, but I'm very nervous about my situation as a whole.

    3. so I have a lot of options, not a lot of money and a lot of confusion about the best thing to do now... I need a sustained speed - once is not only fast open - more that I need disk space.

    I am considering:

purchasing some enterprise hdd on sale (5 x 500GB to 1Tb HDD) and putting them in externally in a safe raid for Time Machine connected to a                firewire 800 port, or I could purchase 2 large 3GBs ssd's and put them in raid1 in my spare optical bay for time machine and then transfer offsite at                regular intervals for storage ( I would transfer the other Time Machine option offsite as well).
that I will make a fusion with the 120GB and a new HDD for system and put it on the other external esata to take advantage of the 6 GBs. I am                wondering if the size of the HDD would make a significant difference in performance speed. I am also wondering if doing a clean install of yosemite                on a this new fusion drive and then migrating some info from the current system disk would be a good idea, or if a new download of El Capitan                would be best.
i also need to buy a USB3.0 PCIe card for a couple of peripherals - with each port  powered. - so that also opens up some speed possibilities.

This graphics card is quite recent and was meant to be compatible with my system - but I do not understand why it is distributed as is and it seems that there is no driver installed on one of the splits. I have not found much info and will contact the customer, but I wonder if anyone has seen this issue.

I think that the size of your existing disks is actually one of your bottlenecks, so I kinda disagree with your idea that you need speed, more space. Adobe apps like chunks of free space for the use of work records and caches. Your installation seems also too complicated.

Fast large capacity disks are pretty cheap these days. You can get a TB 6 for $200 Toshiba and put it in a good external enclosure. Also, you should be able to install a HDD 4 TB within a Mac Pro 2008, preferably WD Black or HGST. A good pen for a 4 biggest external to cost in the neighborhood of $75, OWC.
