Advice on the battery of the iPod

When you reload your iPod usually? It's whenever you see the red light or wait you again until your iPod is completely emptied? Is this OK to leave plugged in all night? Or is it better to unplug the appliance as soon as the light turns green? What do you think?

These devices contain lithium-ion batteries and therefore must be drained to 0% and charged 100% once a month (full cycle) so that it can reset. Otherwise it's ok to load from any percentage and charge overnight is fine, because battery light on standby mode when fully charged.

However, try not to use your device a lot while it loads as it can heat up, reducing the battery life. Also keep out of the Sun and hot areas such as car.

My power button doesn't work.  I know how to turn my iPod touch 4G (ios 6.1.6) using the help key, but what I want to know is if I can turn on the iPod while plugging it.  I know when the battery dies him plugging it turns back on, but I have not tried after that I turned it off.   I would just try this, but today, I'm not able to repair or replace.  So I want to make sure that it will work before as I did try.

(I know that I can turn by resetting the network it works, but then I have to retype my password.)  I hope I can just stop, and then plug it in.  But just want to be sure.)

    Thank you.

  • How to install and format the iPod Shuffle 512 MB in Windows 10?

I tried to install and old iPod shuffle 512 MB (the long one) of 10 Windows 64 bit computer since the original installation CD and it retains formatting forever. I had to stop the installation. Any ideas?

Do not use the original disc.  This is the software for nearly ten years ago, and it probably won't work with Windows 10.  To use an iPod, you must install iTunes; Download the latest version here

    http://www.Apple.com/iTunes/

Run the downloaded installation program to install iTunes 12.  Launch iTunes and connect the old iPod shuffle to a USB port.  Although the iPod is old, it works with the latest version of iTunes (as long as it is functional).  The shuffle will appear in iTunes as a button on the device, on the horizontal bar that runs through the iTunes window.  See below for the screenshot of the window of my iTunes (on the upper left), showing the device for a 1st shuffle button (circled in red) gen.

Click the button on the device to display the screen of the iPod settings in iTunes.

This is for the original shuffle user's guide

    https://manuals.info.Apple.com/manuals/0/MA521/en_US/iPodshuffleUserGuide.PDF

However, this manual is as old as this software disk and does not exactly how the latest version of iTunes.  Once get back you to the point where you see the shuffle in the iTunes window (and you have songs in your iTunes library), please post with your questions.  I can provide advice to sync songs to your shuffle.

  • Basic queries on the use of the iPod Mini G2 converted '8 GB CF'

7 years ago, I asked for help to convert iPod found in a draw to the fate-many pieces for the tip!

Kenichi gave me good advice, but he re-entered the drawer only to discover again seven years later!

This time, I finally got round to do the conversion.

Everything went exceptionally well and I now have an 8 GB player that functions perfectly I can say now.

As it was the machine of my daughter, I don't know how to take control of it!

Just to give you an idea of my skill level; It took me several minutes to find out how to increase the volume.

First problem I have is that iTunes does not allow me to 'manually manage' my music before the 'restoration', because these options are greyed out!

Once he had "restored", and I re-connected, these options are available to me.

Since all my "music" collection has now been copied to the device, which includes a couple of 'e-Books' and also various sound effects, ringtones, poster ads etc. I would like to 'eliminate' this is not a soothing music, but I'm afraid of the consequences!

Having chosen to 'Manually manage' my music, I was scared by a message that says actually ' do you really want to do?

Do not understand the consequences that could follow if I said 'yes', I thought that I would be wise to consult the oracle first!

If it is indeed possible to "take control" without too much pain, I would like to know how to remove the offending bells, whistles, horns, etc.

I could then move on to the next possible stumbling block, 'e-books '. who are currently in the Albums and songs, just as they are on my phone, I hope there is a way to recognize them on the iPod as 'books '.

Once it is fully charged, I hope that he will play well with system 'Audio 50' of my Merc.

All the words of wisdom would be very appreciated!

Now, I also have an iPod mini with flash storage.  I previously did similar mods on gen 3rd and 4th generation iPod "classic".  iPod mini is very accommodating to replace his drive hard micro with flash storage.  The main reasons are that its 'MicroDrive' use already the compact flash (CF) card form and connector.  But the current prices for the physically smaller SD card (and most popular) is much lower than in the same capacity, compared to the CF card, so I used a card SD to CF card adapter and turned a 64 GB SD card a card see  This is the adapter that I used

    http://www.Amazon.com/DP/B00EPMWT1M/

Its size (including thickness) is an exact match for the 4 GB MicroDrive it replaces.  I already had a 64GB SD card that I used with my Mac, but they cost less than $25 on sale these days!  And the adapter is $ 13.  Surprisingly, the embedded software (designed for 4 GB, 6 GB of storage) mini iPod works perfectly at 64 GB.  The available capacity is about 59 GB; I have about 54 GB charge.

So if you exceed the 8GB size in your mini iPod, here is your project "next"...   Back to your actual questions.

First problem I have is that iTunes does not allow me to 'manually manage' my music before the 'restoration', because these options are greyed out!

Without doubt because (at the time), it was set up to synchronize with your daughter iTunes library.  The iPod can be associated with both iTunes library.  When you did a restore using your iTunes library, the previous association has been removed.

Don't worry if any currently on the iPod are in your library iTunes (on the computer), on the "consequences".  You can re - sync anything to the iPod, if you delete something by mistake.  Here's a convenient way to establish things...

Create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  You can call it iPod songs.  Add ALL the songs you want on your iPod to the playlist.  At this point, the iPod has no need to be connected.  You work with your iTunes library only.  You can post back, if you want some advice on the use of playlists.

Then, connect your iPod and select it in iTunes (click on its button on the device on the horizontal bar) to show its settings screen in the iTunes window (as seen in my screenshot above).  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings, click music.  Right, parameters of music on the iPod screen.

NOTE: For anyone else reading this, all the songs of the iPod that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.

Check the box to Sync music, if it isn't already.  Below, choose the option to sync selected playlists, albums, artists and genres.  Below, under playlists, search for and select (check) this playlist of songs from iPod .  You don't need to choose something else on this screen (you can if you wish).  Click apply.  iTunes syncs only the songs you put on this playlist of songs from iPod to iPod.  Everything that is currently on the iPod is removed.

Further, you can update this iPod songs playlist in your iTunes (add/remove songs).  The iPod has no need to be connected.  The next time that you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected), iTunes automatically updated the iPod with the same changes.  That's how I use my iPod 8 GB nano, unless I have more than one playlist that synchronize to the iPod (a few selections for the race and a "Favorites" playlist).

I could then move on to the next possible stumbling block, 'e-books '. who are currently in the Albums and songs... If all goes well, there is a way to recognize them on the iPod as 'books '.

I think you mean audio books.  Text-based 'e-books' do not work with the iPod (except iPod touch).  If audio books to appear in your library iTunes music, they should be classified as audiobooks in iTunes.  Right-click a 'song' (which is actually a digital audio book) in iTunes and get information.  You can select several elements at the same time and get information on the selection.  In the Info window, go to the Options tab.  Change media kind in audiobook, then OK.  The item now appears in your library of audiobooks to iTunes (not your music library).  See also the article as an audiobook iPod, not a song, when synchronized.

To set up synchronization of audio books, the procedure is similar to the songs.  On the settings screen of the iPod, in the sidebar, under settings, click on audio books.  Set up screen setting audio books from iPod and apply.

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

  • Just updated to ios 9 and my ipod touch is stuck at 'update of the iCloud parameters.  I can not restore from iTunes as I have to disable 'find my iPod toch' and cannot do the iPod is blocked with the message to update.  Will not work force a stop down.

Just updated to ios 9.2 (from 8 something) and my ipod touch is stuck at 'update of the iCloud parameters.  I can not restore from iTunes because I have to disable "Find my iPod touch" first of all, and I can't do as the iPod is blocked with the message to update.  Forcing a stop down does not work that for some reason, I am unable to turn off my iPod touch manually.  I tried to turn off my wifi to see if that stops the iPod touch, but he always keeps on the message to iCloud.  Do I just wait until the battery sinks so that it forces a reboot?

Place your iOS device into Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from a backup of iCloud apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from backup iTunes, applications and music must be in iTunes since synchronized as music media library and apps are not included in the backup of the iOS device what iTunes does.

You can re-download most of iTunes purchases by:

I plugged my ipod in a clock radio, and now my ipod (gen 5, 120 gig) simply fails. I tried to connect to my Macbook, it recharges with a wall charger, reset it works... nothing.  Any idea what I could do?

If you already have...  "Nothing works" mean nothing currently appears on the iPod screen?

A 5th generation iPod goes up to 80 GB (with stock hard drive).  If your a 120 GB, and you improved yourself, do you know how to open it correctly, with the right tools?  If you do, you can try to disconnect the battery for about 30 seconds and then by him plugging.

  • Ok. so, when I sync my music to the ipod, it can read my computer to play, but it is not recognized as the device when I unplug it from the computer.

my ipod plays only a few original downloads on my sound surround of boise, but the most recent downloads will only record and play on my computer. When I download music it synchronizes and can be found and played back on the computer but is not found on the actual screen of the ipod to play my biose surround sound, but there is space on the ipod.

If you wait for the new songs (in your iTunes library) to automatically synchronize to the iPod, it must be configured to use automatic synchronization (setting synchronization music ).  Select iPod in iTunes by clicking on its button on the device.  For current iTunes, the screenshot below shows top left corner my iTunes, iPod touch window circled in red.

Click this button to display the settings of the iPod summary screen in the iTunes window.  Along the left side of the window, in the sidebar, under settings, click on music.  To the right, the music from the iPod settings screen.  Check mark for Sync music box (if it isn't already)

NOTE: No matter what songs on iPod that are not in your iTunes library (on computer) will be lost.

This enables automatic synchronization.  You can choose to synchronize the entire music library (if it fits on the iPod) or a part of the selection .  Implement this screen as you want, and then click apply.  Further, iTunes automatically keeps iPod "in phase" with the changes to your music library (or the selected part of it) when you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected).

If this isn't your problem, please post back with additional details.

  • Composers not appearing in the Menu on the iPod

Well, I have several 1000 songs on my iPod.  When I connect my iPod to my computer and click on the device, I see all my songs and artists.  When I unplug and browse the device I can't see some of them.  I then did a search on the iPod for the "ten" for "Dixie Chicks" and it found 4 albums. Even with the terrible lines and others also.  Anyone know why this is happening?

When you say "composers", do mean it actually composer and not artist?  These are two separate data fields of the songs in iTunes. Most of the songs should have populated artist field, but many cannot have an entry for compost.

If it's something that worked before and not now for some reason, the cause can be corrupt data on the iPod.  If all of your songs in your iTunes library, you can do a Restore on iPod using iTunes.  This erases iPod, reinstall its software and sets it to the default settings.  The restore button is on the settings of the iPod summary screen in iTunes.  Then sync your music library to the iPod as before.

my iPod, the generation classic 32 GB, stopped playing in the middle of a song. The screen is stuck on this song. None of the buttons work.  I can't stop the iPod.  How can I fix it?

    Hi, lesliefromhowell!

Thank you for reaching out by Apple Support communities. After reading your post, I understand that your iPod Classic does not. I count on my iPod for music on the go and want to make sure that you can use your own without problem!

Relying on the buttons have not helped get the iPod to start playing or to restart, please follow the steps outlined in the article below to reset your iPod.

Learn how to reset your iPod

You'll want to use the instructions under the "iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector)" section. These instructions are the following:

To reset your iPod, follow these steps:

    1. Slide the Hold switch to the locked position and then come back!
    2. Hold down Menu and Play/Pause all buttons until you see the logo Apple/iPod (about 6-8 seconds). You may need to repeat this step.

If you can always reset your iPod, follow these steps:

    1. Connect your iPod to a power adapter and plug the adapter into a power outlet.
You can also connect your iPod to your computer. Make sure that the computer is on and that it is not set to go to sleep.
    2. Try resetting your iPod again.

  • Windows want to format the iPod, iTunes wants to restore, nothing works...

    Hello

I bought an iPod nano 7th generation,

I had iTunes already installed on my pc (surface pro 4 Windows 10).

If I loaded the iPod with a phone charger, then I plugged into my computer, and two things prompted, 2 first messages from Windows Explorer, saying that the iPod needs to be formatted, then iTunes says that the iPod is corrupted and must be restored.

So I ignore windows messages and I restored the iPod to iTunes (you download the latest version of its software), but whenever the restoration is finished and iTunes is waiting for the iPod restart, it began in the early, saying it needs formatting and iTunes says the Windows device is damaged.

I have tried everything, formatting of the iPod, uninstall the drivers, reinstall iTunes, delete the letter of the Disk Manager disk (although the iPod is shown in RAW format).

Don't know what to do anymore.

    Anyone?

Try to get someone running iTunes on Windows 7 to restore the device for you. There seems to be a problem with recent versions of Windows 10 reports falsely iPods as having a corrupted disk when they don't. This can prevent the restore process to complete successfully. You can also try a complete tear down and rebuild iTunes, in case there is a different reason for your question. See the second box in troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows Update for more details.
