Depending on the context, I'll assume that you are asking how to unload files of songs from an iPod to a computer.  iTunes synchronization is generally in one direction, from iTunes to iPod library. You cannot use iTunes to transfer files of song from iPod to computer (with the exception of songs purchased from the iTunes Store)

NOTE: Songs purchased from the iTunes Store can be downloaded again free of charge, on the iTunes Store purchased screen.

Download your purchases past - Apple Support

However, there are methods and third party utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like 'ipod music transfer', you should get a few links (including a CNET article on the subject).  Once the files of songs from the iPod to your disk, add them to your current iTunes library.

Further, you should backup your iTunes data.  Apple describes a way to back up your folder full of iTunes on an external drive.

Manage and backup your iTunes media library - Apple Support

This method should also be used when switching from an old computer to a new computer.  By transferring or restore your complete iTunes folder, it's the same iTunes library on the new computer, not a new iTunes library with your old songs.  iPods are not designed to be your data from iTunes backup.

  • Cannot transfer music from iTunes to the iPod nano.

I can't transfer music from iTunes to my iPod. My laptop has Windows XP and my iPod nano is 6 years old. (I do not know what generation it is). the instructions say to click on "sources" to choose the IPod, but I can't find this option in iTunes.

The latest version of iTunes can be different, so former instructions can be confusing.

There are several ways to load songs on an iPod, including the auto sync and manual loading.  I will describe the method that automatically synchronizes the iPod to a playlist in your iTunes library.  First, you must create a new playlist in your iTunes library and add all the songs you want on the iPod playlist.  You can call iPod songs playlists (or whatever you want).  If you already have a "Favorites" playlist, you can use it.

Then, select the iPod in iTunes (click on its button on the device on the horizontal bar) to show its settings screen in the iTunes window.  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings. Click on music.  Right, parameters of music on the iPod screen.

NOTE: All the songs on the iPod that are not on your iTunes library (on the computer) will be lost.

At the top, check the box to Sync music.  This enables automatic synchronization.  Below, choose the option to synchronize playlists selected, artists, album and genres.  Below, under playlists, search for and select (checkmark) playlists iPod songs you create earlier.  You can select the other items in these lists, if you wish.  When you click apply, iTunes syncs your selection to iPod.

Go ahead, update of the songs on the iPod, update iPod songs playlist in your iTunes (add/remove songs).  The iPod has no need to be connected.  The next time that you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected), iTunes automatically updated the iPod with the same changes.  I use this method with my iPod nano, unless I have several playlists (not one) that I sync with my iPod.

  • Is it possible to load the CD (that I put on iTunes years ago) on an iPod Nano to iTunes 9.0.3 (15) on an old MacBook? This is my last chance, as the later versions of iTunes have deleted all this precious music, so I can't be wrong!

Is it possible to load the CD (that I put on iTunes years ago) on an iPod Nano to iTunes 9.0.3 (15) on an old MacBook (OS 10.5.8)? This is my last chance, as the later versions of iTunes have deleted all this precious music, so I can't be wrong!

It is unclear what you are asking, but if the question is (retired), the can transfer songs that are on an iPod nano (and nowhere else) to my current computer?

You cannot use iTunes.  By design, iTunes sync is generally in one direction, from your computer to the iPod.  The exception is purchased songs on the iTunes Store, iTunes can verify ownership of these songs (command in the menu bar iTunes -> devices-> transfer purchases of [name of the iPod] file).  However, there are methods and third party utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like 'the ipod transfer', you should get a few links, including a CNET article.

Once the files of the song on your disc, you can add them to your current iTunes library.

When you get the new iPod, you can use iTunes on your computer to select and synchronize the music you want on it, in the same way that you synchronize your current iPod - your iTunes will recognize them as different devices and will remember your choice of synchronization for each, it will not (unless, for example, you restore the backup of your current on her iPod) put the same content on both.

  • How can I get back are erased the music on my iPod nano?

Well, I sort of accidentally "erased and synced" all the music from my iPod nano.  I've lost countless songs and albums.  Is it possible to recover or restore lost music files?  Please tell me that I have not just stupidly everything lost!  Thank you and be well!

I guess that synchronize you the songs (for the iPod) from different iTunes library, so they are not in your current iTunes library.  If so, there is no way to get your songs using iTunes.

You may be able to use an application of general data recovery and deal with the iPod as a USB external drive.  These applications are used when people accidentally erasing a hard drive (or of a defective disc), or a hard drive becomes inaccessible due to data corruption.

  • How can I get my songs Apple music on my iPod Nano? I pay $15 a month for the service and cannot listen to songs on my iPod Nano 7th generation.

I pay $15 a month for the service of music and cannot hear the songs on my iPod Nano 7th generation. Someone must have found a way around this now? I might as well sell my iPod, because I'm not paying for the song in iTunes as well.

You can not.  Downloads music from Apple are written songs, does not belong to him. Apple music requires an Internet connection, so that the status of your subscription can be verified (as required by the content producers).  The only iPod that can use music Apple's iPod touch, because there Internet by Wi - Fi.

  • IPod Nano/Greyed out music

    Hi guys,.

So I use an Ipod Nano 4th generation, but when it comes to connect to ITunes it just will not work. I use Windows 10 and you just download the new ITunes.

My Ipod is recognized on ITunes, under devices but when I click on it to get my songs, they are all shaded with just a tick next to each song (there is no symbol in the left column, see below)

Basically, I want to solve this problem, so I can buy and add new music on my Ipod... How can I do this?

    Thank you in advance,

    Emma

    Hi Emma,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. Judging by your post, I see that you are trying to sync music to your iPod nano, but faced difficulties. I know it's important to get your content on your devices, so I am pleased to provide you with advice for this.

Your screenshot shows notice what is currently on your iPod nano. Grey tracks are songs that are not in your iTunes library. All this is expected.

For good to sync your music to your iPod, see the steps detailed here:

Sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer via a USB - Apple Support

If you want to have these songs in your iTunes library as well, and they were purchased with iTunes first, then follow the steps detailed here:

Redownload or transfer of your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad or iPod to computer - Apple Support

I hope this helps to clarify things, Bravo!

  • Can I transfer music from iPod Nano again iTunes account without losing any content?

I had to have a new hard drive installed on my laptop and lost all the data that was on my old hard drive. I have reloaded iTunes but now it obviously does not show me as having any music out there. I have all my music on my iPod Nano. Can I sync the iPod to download on iTunes for re - record my music?

Since the iTunes library on the new disc is new to the iPod, sync deletes the existing content of the iPod and replace it with the content of the new library (which currently is 'nothing').  By design, iTunes syncing is generally in one direction, from the iTunes library on the computer for iPod (with the exception of songs purchased on iTunes Store).  However, there are methods and third party utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something as 'ipod transfer music', you should get a few useful links, including a CNET article on the subject.

Once your music files on your new drive, add them to your new iTunes library.  After the confirmation of all your songs are, sync of the iPod as you wish.

  • How to transfer iTunes to the new iPod Nano library?

Hello - I have a new iPod Nano and need to transfer my iTunes to my new Nano playlists.  Thank you.

If your songs in your iTunes library, you can set up automatic synchronization for these playlists.

Select the iPod in iTunes, so that you see on the screen of the settings in the iTunes window.  Along the left side of the window, in the sidebar, under settings, click on music.  To the right, you see music in the iPod settings screen.

NOTE: Since it is a new Nano, I guess it's currently empty.  All the songs from the iPod that are NOT in your iTunes library will be lost.

On the screen settings of music , at the top, tick the box to Sync music.  Below, if your iPod has enough storage capacity to hold your entire music library, you can choose the option synchronize entire music library.  And click apply at the bottom.

Otherwise, choose the option synchronize playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below, look under playlists and find the playlists you want to synchronize with the iPod and select them.  The capacity at the bottom of the window bar indicates how much storage on the iPod is used with the current selection.  When you are finished, click apply down button to synchronize your selection to iPod.

Further, you can update the playlists in iTunes (add and remove songs).  The iPod has no need to be connected.  The next time that you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected), iTunes automatically updated the iPod with the same changes.  If you have the iPod sync the music library of anyvalue, iTunes keeps the iPod updated with any change in your music library.

  • iPod Nano is not synchronize or send workouts on the portal of Nike

I have an iPod Nano and up to a week or two ago when Nike changed their entire portal (which I am already Livid about because 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it") workout of my iPod Nano is no longer synchronize or send the portal of Nike + at all.

I received continuous error messages and they have yet to fix.  However, they have not run before release products even if existing ones is glitching out.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The web site Nike + was revised a few months ago.  I like the old better version also...

Since the revision, when I sync my iPod nano and it has new workout data, I get an error message.  I my case, clicking the button OK in the error message allows the synchronization to continue, and iTunes sends my new workout data to Nike + (despite what the error of not being able to connect to Nike +).  I get the usual message of confirmation.

In your case, Nike + receive your new workout data?
