Basic queries on the use of the iPod Mini G2 converted '8 GB CF'

7 years ago, I asked for help to convert iPod found in a draw to the fate-many pieces for the tip!

Kenichi gave me good advice, but he re-entered the drawer only to discover again seven years later!

This time, I finally got round to do the conversion.

Everything went exceptionally well and I now have an 8 GB player that functions perfectly I can say now.

As it was the machine of my daughter, I don't know how to take control of it!

Just to give you an idea of my skill level; It took me several minutes to find out how to increase the volume.

First problem I have is that iTunes does not allow me to 'manually manage' my music before the 'restoration', because these options are greyed out!

Once he had "restored", and I re-connected, these options are available to me.

Since all my "music" collection has now been copied to the device, which includes a couple of 'e-Books' and also various sound effects, ringtones, poster ads etc. I would like to 'eliminate' this is not a soothing music, but I'm afraid of the consequences!

Having chosen to 'Manually manage' my music, I was scared by a message that says actually ' do you really want to do?

Do not understand the consequences that could follow if I said 'yes', I thought that I would be wise to consult the oracle first!

If it is indeed possible to "take control" without too much pain, I would like to know how to remove the offending bells, whistles, horns, etc.

I could then move on to the next possible stumbling block, 'e-books '. who are currently in the Albums and songs, just as they are on my phone, I hope there is a way to recognize them on the iPod as 'books '.

Once it is fully charged, I hope that he will play well with system 'Audio 50' of my Merc.

All the words of wisdom would be very appreciated!

Now, I also have an iPod mini with flash storage.  I previously did similar mods on gen 3rd and 4th generation iPod "classic".  iPod mini is very accommodating to replace his drive hard micro with flash storage.  The main reasons are that its 'MicroDrive' use already the compact flash (CF) card form and connector.  But the current prices for the physically smaller SD card (and most popular) is much lower than in the same capacity, compared to the CF card, so I used a card SD to CF card adapter and turned a 64 GB SD card a card see  This is the adapter that I used

http://www.Amazon.com/DP/B00EPMWT1M/

Its size (including thickness) is an exact match for the 4 GB MicroDrive it replaces.  I already had a 64GB SD card that I used with my Mac, but they cost less than $25 on sale these days!  And the adapter is $ 13.  Surprisingly, the embedded software (designed for 4 GB, 6 GB of storage) mini iPod works perfectly at 64 GB.  The available capacity is about 59 GB; I have about 54 GB charge.

So if you exceed the 8GB size in your mini iPod, here is your project "next"...   Back to your actual questions.

First problem I have is that iTunes does not allow me to 'manually manage' my music before the 'restoration', because these options are greyed out!

Without doubt because (at the time), it was set up to synchronize with your daughter iTunes library.  The iPod can be associated with both iTunes library.  When you did a restore using your iTunes library, the previous association has been removed.

Don't worry if any currently on the iPod are in your library iTunes (on the computer), on the "consequences".  You can re - sync anything to the iPod, if you delete something by mistake.  Here's a convenient way to establish things...

Create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  You can call it iPod songs.  Add ALL the songs you want on your iPod to the playlist.  At this point, the iPod has no need to be connected.  You work with your iTunes library only.  You can post back, if you want some advice on the use of playlists.

Then, connect your iPod and select it in iTunes (click on its button on the device on the horizontal bar) to show its settings screen in the iTunes window (as seen in my screenshot above).  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings, click music.  Right, parameters of music on the iPod screen.

NOTE: For anyone else reading this, all the songs of the iPod that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.

Check the box to Sync music, if it isn't already.  Below, choose the option to sync selected playlists, albums, artists and genres.  Below, under playlists, search for and select (check) this playlist of songs from iPod .  You don't need to choose something else on this screen (you can if you wish).  Click apply.  iTunes syncs only the songs you put on this playlist of songs from iPod to iPod.  Everything that is currently on the iPod is removed.

Further, you can update this iPod songs playlist in your iTunes (add/remove songs).  The iPod has no need to be connected.  The next time that you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected), iTunes automatically updated the iPod with the same changes.  That's how I use my iPod 8 GB nano, unless I have more than one playlist that synchronize to the iPod (a few selections for the race and a "Favorites" playlist).

I could then move on to the next possible stumbling block, 'e-books '. who are currently in the Albums and songs... If all goes well, there is a way to recognize them on the iPod as 'books '.

I think you mean audio books.  Text-based 'e-books' do not work with the iPod (except iPod touch).  If audio books to appear in your library iTunes music, they should be classified as audiobooks in iTunes.  Right-click a 'song' (which is actually a digital audio book) in iTunes and get information.  You can select several elements at the same time and get information on the selection.  In the Info window, go to the Options tab.  Change media kind in audiobook, then OK.  The item now appears in your library of audiobooks to iTunes (not your music library).  See also the article as an audiobook iPod, not a song, when synchronized.

To set up synchronization of audio books, the procedure is similar to the songs.  On the settings screen of the iPod, in the sidebar, under settings, click on audio books.  Set up screen setting audio books from iPod and apply.

  • Want to use 3 G iPod in the car but don't charge via Firewire

I have a 3G iPod that I would use in my car, but for some reason that I can only load using a charger that has a port Firewire output which then connects to a 30 pin adapter Firewire port. It is extremely heavy, and while I managed to get away with this arrangement in the House, I would like to use the iPod in my car, but about 6 or 8 different Chargers I tried working on three different iPhones and iPod 5G, none works with the 3G iPod - despite the specs mention it.

There was no separate charger when I bought it and it has always been used with Firewire configuration except when I had it installed on a previous car with a Harman Kardon iDrive system, which I don't have.

Surely, it should not be impossible to load a 3G iPod in a car. I would be grateful of any advice or tips.

Nevermind, I just found out why it does not work - I knew not that there is a difference between the 30-pin 12v and 5v USB Firewire input. I had assumed that 30-pin, this could have been housed.

I guess that manufacturers who claim that their Chargers work on iPod 3G simply do not know that either.

  • Is it possible to use an application designed for iPhone/iPad on my iMac or (older) instead of the iPod touch?

Sorry, I don't have an iPhone and I'm not a user app.  But I found one that I really want to get.  The description says that it is designed for an iPhone or an iPad.  Can I download it on my iMac and use iTunes to put on my older iPod touch?  Or just use it on my iMac?  Here is the app in question.  Thank you!

iTunes does not sell at apps for your computer.  All applications are for iPhone/ipad/ipod.

You will need to check the requirements for the application know what version of iOS is required if you want to use on your iPod.

  • Sync of the Ipod Classic from 2 computers using HomeShare

I have an iPod classic which is fully functional and in good condition with no problems.

I have a laptop and a desktop computer.  The laptop is a netbook and very slow. I recently installed iTunes on the desktop computer and cannot find my external hard drive to transfer music.  I did share House on two computers, since I have wifi at home.  There were a couple of albums that I put on the itunes of google drive, so I'm able to say that there is music, it takes the laptop and the music that was already on the desktop itunes. He cannot afford to make playlists using music from the desktop and shared music of homeshare; is it possible to actually use the wifi connection to get music on itunes on the computer so that it is the same thing, or do I have to manually transfer the music as well? If I sync ipod from the desk top music will there be to synchronize?

To load songs on an iPod (which is not an iPod touch), the files must be stored locally on the computer running iTunes to sync the iPod.  You can use the 'normal' file sharing via your WiFi connection (not related to iTunes) to transfer music files between computers and add the songs in the iTunes library, that you use to synchronize the iPod.

I think to make the Surface RT but y at - it a soft for Windows that is Director basic that you can use?

    Original title: windows essentials

    Hello

Desktop applications only which can work to the Surface RT are Office Office RT and IE10. Apart from this, you will need to find a modern application (aka metro) of the Windows store.

Thus, you can not install Windows Essentials, which is a desktop application on the Surface of RT.

Video editing is very demanding on computer equipment/resources. Tablets are not the best devices for this type of work even if you do not find an app. I can see some video party 3rd edition apps on the Store Windows but I have no experience with them.

    Hope that helps.

Thank God I did not alter the songs on iTUNES! Please help am desperate

It is an iPod touch?  It is said ' iOS 6 ' in your profile information.  What is the updated version?  If not, what version you have currently installed.

I don't know what "iRADIO" is...  Are you referring to the Apple Music music streaming service?

  • Have to restore the ipod after downloading the update. Question, help please

    Hello!

I have a large music library on my iTunes and so all my music does not fit on my iPod Classic 160 GB, which is fine.

I have the latest version (last one that came out) the iPod Classic 160 gb.

I have the latest version of iTunes.

    I use Windows 7.

So basically I had no questions for recent years until last week.

For a long time, I went through my collection of music [in view of SONGS] and placed check marks next to all the songs I want on my ipod.

It's the way I like it. I have enough free space on my ipod for new music, I get every month so that it works.

I connect the iPod to iTunes and SYNC my library, and it adds new songs I added to my iTunes library since I'm finally connected.

Okay - here is the problem.

Last week, when I connected my iPod Classic to iTunes, I got a saying there was an update to download.

I am used to what is going on all the time with my iPhone, but I can't remember the last time there was an update for my iPod.

Intrigued and not think what awkward or troublesome would come from him, I'm agree to download and install the new update.

When he did download it says that it does not recognize the device (iPod). After searching for hours for help, I finally disconnected, stop, restart and rec-connected my iPod to iTunes.

He says that he has no music on my iPod. I checked and it was not. He disappeared. ***!?!

Fortunately, all my music was always in iTunes so I went with my library SYNC (again, I have the titles I want selected already). He said he could only and basically the only option was to reset my iPod to its factory settings. Because the way that my iPod is empty anyway, I thought, fine, so I did. I have restored its original settings.

Later, I did the same thing after disconnecting. Shut down, restart, clean the cache and the registry, etc and then reconnected the iPod to iTunes. My first thought was maybe I should try to download the update again - since the ipod is empty at this time - what the *, why not - I would rather finish now than get my music on my iPod to be prompted to download new update, and start all over. So I clicked Check For Updates when my iPod was connected to iTunes and it said there is no new update. I don't remember the exact update, but I'm sure it was like 2.05 something, and what I have now (and had before all this happened) was 2.04 or something like that. So does well, no update? No matter what. At this point, I'm SO frustrated - I want just to SYNC my library via checked/selected songs and get back them on my iPod.

When I went to SYNC, nothing happened.

So I went to the tab that showed the music and it only gives me the option to SYNC my library of ENSEMBLE music (which is too large and does not fit on my iPod) - OR - I can go through this form on this page and browse and select the ARTISTS that I would like to add.

It's so frustrating. First of all, I don't want to pass by and re - select all the songs I want to add - the main reason being - he did already - when you click on my library and select the songs view, you can see all the songs that I previously have selected/checked remains unchanged. Second, if I had to do it the way he wants me to all simply by selecting ARTISTS who will not work.

Sorry for this long crazy question - but basically - how now factory - reset iPod Classic for SYNCING with my iTunes library with the songs of checked/selected, I already have checked - and not to go through and do it by limiting my will and have to select only the artist (not to mention that I did as I want).

I appreciate any help or insight that someone could offer.

    Much appreciated!

On the settings screen of the iPod summary (what you see in iTunes when you select iPod), there is a checkbox to Sync only checked songs and videos (wording may be different for your iPod).  Enable (check) this setting in combination with sync entire music library.

  • Ok. so, when I sync my music to the ipod, it can read my computer to play, but it is not recognized as the device when I unplug it from the computer.

my ipod plays only a few original downloads on my sound surround of boise, but the most recent downloads will only record and play on my computer. When I download music it synchronizes and can be found and played back on the computer but is not found on the actual screen of the ipod to play my biose surround sound, but there is space on the ipod.

If you wait for the new songs (in your iTunes library) to automatically synchronize to the iPod, it must be configured to use automatic synchronization (setting synchronization music ).  Select iPod in iTunes by clicking on its button on the device.  For current iTunes, the screenshot below shows top left corner my iTunes, iPod touch window circled in red.

Click this button to display the settings of the iPod summary screen in the iTunes window.  Along the left side of the window, in the sidebar, under settings, click on music.  To the right, the music from the iPod settings screen.  Check mark for Sync music box (if it isn't already)

NOTE: No matter what songs on iPod that are not in your iTunes library (on computer) will be lost.

This enables automatic synchronization.  You can choose to synchronize the entire music library (if it fits on the iPod) or a part of the selection .  Implement this screen as you want, and then click apply.  Further, iTunes automatically keeps iPod "in phase" with the changes to your music library (or the selected part of it) when you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected).

If this isn't your problem, please post back with additional details.

  • Composers not appearing in the Menu on the iPod

Well, I have several 1000 songs on my iPod.  When I connect my iPod to my computer and click on the device, I see all my songs and artists.  When I unplug and browse the device I can't see some of them.  I then did a search on the iPod for the "ten" for "Dixie Chicks" and it found 4 albums. Even with the terrible lines and others also.  Anyone know why this is happening?

When you say "composers", do mean it actually composer and not artist?  These are two separate data fields of the songs in iTunes. Most of the songs should have populated artist field, but many cannot have an entry for compost.

If it's something that worked before and not now for some reason, the cause can be corrupt data on the iPod.  If all of your songs in your iTunes library, you can do a Restore on iPod using iTunes.  This erases iPod, reinstall its software and sets it to the default settings.  The restore button is on the settings of the iPod summary screen in iTunes.  Then sync your music library to the iPod as before.

To reset your iPod, follow these steps:

    1. Slide the Hold switch to the locked position and then come back!
    2. Hold down Menu and Play/Pause all buttons until you see the logo Apple/iPod (about 6-8 seconds). You may need to repeat this step.

If you can always reset your iPod, follow these steps:

    1. Connect your iPod to a power adapter and plug the adapter into a power outlet.
You can also connect your iPod to your computer. Make sure that the computer is on and that it is not set to go to sleep.
