Advocate for help with fast storage Y500 disk cache

Question: 1 to Sata and 16 GB mSata SSD drives got rid of all the partitions, and new copy of Windows 8 installed on the 1 TB drive. It is that I'm unable to confirm Intel Rapid Storage is configured to use the mSata SSD as cache drive, and I do not think that it IS configured based on see Win8 Disk Mgmt through that entire SSD (showing about 15 GB) is not allocated and is not be used by anything. Attempts to implement using link below do not work that there is no 'Accelerate' button in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology utility, as shown in the graphic in this post. I even installed the chipset driver before the util Rapid Storage according to the readme instructions I found out of the Intel site.

http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/the-Guide-on-how-to-reformat-REPARTITION-an...

To answer this forward - there no option in my BIOS RAID, as seems to be the solution for other IdeaPad models.

Call the #1 to Lenovo Support - Tech first asked me to set up RAID and after having informed him there was no BIOS RAID option, he informed me of the installation of the equipment for caching SSD drive was fully automatic and needed no software. I found this suspicious and later decided to call again to ask for the check disk cache is enabled...

Call #2 to Lenovo Support - after a period of 90 min or so call and another suggestion to set up RAID, even if there is no other choice, the technology has suggested that "the only way to get the configured disk cache is to return the laptop to the warehouse for them charge the appropriate partitions.» I asked if he has ever heard about any other machine ever which were to be sent to the factory to get a piece of hardware working in the event of corruption of data/partition say hard drive, or if someone wanted to upgrade their hard drive. He said: "no, Sir, but it seems that you have more experience than me, so I'm not sure what we can do besides have return you.»

Am I the only one that sounds ridiculous? I have worked on 100 computers and never once had to send a back machine to load the drivers/utils to make a component work - they always had drivers available. And it is a plain jane Windows 8 install, nothing special about it.

I am reaching my wits end, I lost a ton of time with refills and OS configurations. I give up on the mSata drive all together? I have a time difficult swalling that I MUST have Win8 Lenovo OEM load in order to be able to use all of my material.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated!

I think that I figured this out finally. Here's what I did:
1 put flat as well the 1 TB drive and the 16 GB SSD, no flying over partitions, all unallocated space.
2A took the mSata SSD out of the machine before I tried Win8 installed, (leaving it in there, the windows carve 350 MB partition on the SSD drive for a reason even if I chose the 1 TB drive to settle).
3. install Win8 (I have the Technet version).
4. updated all drivers Lenovo Web site except the Intel RST util, and I hooked version of NVIDIA driver for my video GeForce GT 650 M.
5. do you have all Windows updates.
6 clogged mSata SSD back in.
7. download and install the 64-bit version of memory Cache Express (64-bit) that I found here:

Cache Express downloads

8. rebooted as guest

When I came back to the top, I saw my SSD had a partition created and I can only ASSUME since I didn't see any Cache Express installation error and he ruled out a partition on the SSD drive to work. Don't know how I can check it really worked, but it's wayyyyyy closer I got after working on it for a week. I SiSoftware Sandra and I ran a disk performance report before the installation of the Express Cache, so I want to try to run another report and compare.

    Hello world!

    We want to put all our production and testsystems on ESX servers. We also have a redundancy, so that if a server fails, it could host all systems for the time beeing.

    We contacted Dell fo a nice solution and came it with 2 x 1950 and 1 MD3000. I know that we can not all HAL and vMotion with the MD3000, but for our purposes it would be bad enough if we could start these systems manually on the other server.

    As far as I understand is that both servers share the same storage and are locking the vmdk when used, am I right?

    Well learn you something new every day.

    You can share a logic unit number between two servers from an array of SAS switching, IE the MD3000 you look. Of course, you are limited to two servers.

    You'd be surprised iSCSI how fast is. Just because it's ethernet does not mean that it is slow. At my last job, we had a NetApp FAS3020 with FC and SATA disks connected to eight cores double 32 GB ram ESX host ~ 160 running virtual machines, and they have recently bought four servers dual quad core more with 64 GB to support ~ 120VMs.

    Certainly depends on what are your virtual machines, in your case, you can do much more disk IO and feel the need to drive faster, but a number of virtual machines in the environment above have been weather data processing and real-time flight.

    That said, if you do want to grow then two ESX hosts, will spend SAS keep things simple. I'll have to see on one of these loans...

    Good luck.

  • Looking for help with the motion in still menus of EI.

    Need help to make a menu driven sequelae. can understand the import process in yet. I can't the buttons I did in AE to work. Anyone?

    Read this (but do not have your plan until you read the link at the end of the post):

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/Encore/CS/using/WSF49EA5DB-3743-49C2-9831-F66328B192F8.html

    The important part is:

    «The loop point is used first to disable the buttons.» Until the loop is reached, the Viewer cannot select or activate a button. The menu returns to this point on each repetition, so the buttons are disabled when the menu is displayed first. For rehearsals, the duration is shorter and the starting point for all video content in the menu is offset. »

    So in AE, you create a video (the substance of the application) which includes the image of the buttons as they fly in. Still is the addition of highlights. AE for a period of time could also create layers of button, but you will be less confused if you use Photoshop and again for the file menu itself.

    I forgot to give you this link for help, which is the help file to work with AE:

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/Encore/CS/using/WSA5513911-0AD1-440C-BDAD-2E0E806B425E.html

    This method begins with a menu into Encore and creates an AE composition from there. It can only work with AE CS6, since you have EN CS6. I don't remember if it is technically a form of dynamic link, which requires corresponding versions of the applications.

    There are a lot of ways to skin this cat.

  • Re: Request for help with Tecra A10-156 (Vista backup media)

    Dear members of the Forum

    I am the owner of a laptop Toshiba Tecra A10-156. As the owners of this model will be aware, the machine is supplied with Windows Vista pre-installed. Also supplied is a recovery of Windows XP Professional disc, which, once loaded on the machine, remove everything on the hard drive, including the operating system Vista and the Vista hard disk recovery partition.

    The documentation that comes with the laptop warns the user if he wants to take the Windows XP program on the computer, it must burn a DVD of backup software vista before you load the XP image because if it loads Windows XP without doing that then he loses everything to do with VISTA on the machine.
    Unfortunately, when I bought my machine, I did exactly this error and load Windows XP without backup Vista Software. Load the XP dvd, hard drive was completely wiped out, including not only the Windows Vista installation, but also the recovery partition.

    Although windows XP is a good operating system, I would like the ability to restore my machine to the factory setting. When I asked what to do with Toshiba, they said that the only way they could help would be to sell me a backup DVD of Vista recovery which would cost me a little money. (more than thirty books).
    They also mentioned that if I could find another owner of A10 - 156 using vista would be ready, they could burn a DVD using their recovery from vista machine and then I would be able to use this DVD to do the job.

    As I know personally of all other owners Tecra A10, I am writing to make a plea to ask if some A10-156 (it takes as the exact model) owner would please that nature to let me have a copy of VISTA backup medium please. Of course, I'd be more than willing to pay a total amount of the Virgin DVD (s) and shipping costs.
    If someone is willing or able to help should I very grateful indeed and hope to hear from a fellow A10-156 owner as soon as possible.

    Yours sincerely

    I hope someone here can help and maybe you should put your e-mail address for direct contact.

  • Need help with powercli report - thin disk

    Hello

    As always, the forums here have given me what I need, and I learned a lot. However my knowledge of script is still not at the level where I can combine all I learned. I would appreciate help.

    Basically, I want to write a report that shows the configuration of each computer drive virtual MORE stocked the size of the disc if the disc is thin.

    Currently, I have the following two pieces of code that run completely separately.

    1 - show me the size committed

    $report = @)
    #$allvms = get - VM
    {foreach ($vm to $allvms)
    $vmview = $vm | Get-View
    foreach ($disk in $vmview. Storage.PerDatastoreUsage) {}
    $dsview = (get-view $disk. Data store)
    $dsview. RefreshDatastoreStorageInfo()

    $row = "" | Select VMNAME DATASTORE, VMSIZE_GB, VMUSED_GB %
    $row. VMNAME = $vmview. Config.Name
    $row. DATA store is $dsview. Name
    $row. VMSIZE_GB = (($disk.Committed+$disk.Uncommitted)/1024/1024/1024)
    $row. VMUSED_GB = (($disk.Committed)/1024/1024/1024)
    $row. P = [int] (($row.)) VMUSED_GB / $row. (VMSIZE_GB) * 100)
    $report += $row
    }
    }
    $report | Out-GridView

    2nd - produces the majority of the report

    $report = @)
    $report = {foreach ($vm to $ALLVMs)
    Get-disk hard $vm | Select @{N = 'The virtual computer name'; E = {$vm. Name}},
    @{N = "RDM Name"; E = {($_ | where {"RawPhysical", "RawVirtual"-contient $_.)} DiskType}). File name}}.
    @{N = 'Data store name'; E = {($_ | where {"RawPhysical", "RawVirtual"-notcontains $_.)} DiskType}). Filename.Split(']') [0]. TrimStart('[')}},
    @{N = 'Name of the HD'; E={$_. Name}},
    @{N = 'Size of HD GiB'; E={$_. CapacityKB/1 MB}},
    @{N = "Format"; E={$_. StorageFormat}},
    @{N = "Clerk disk"; {E = {$_.Committed}}.
    @{N = 'Memory'; E={ }},
    Get - VM $vm | Select @{N = 'Memory'; E = {$vm. MemoryMB}}

    }

    $report | Out-GridView

    Thanks to those who submitted the code above, I changed a bit!

    Ideally, the 2nd report would contain a "Committed disk" column which shows the < committed > according to code 1.

    Any help or pointers gladly accepted.

  • Help with VC server and disk space

    We run our virtual Center as a virtual machine. It has a 90 GB virtual disk. I know that this is probably not advisable, but it was setup before coming. Disk is running out of space (3 GB remaining). I was wondering where all space is getting pulled to the top. I also wonder what to do next. I thought about simply expanding the drive as 150 GB. But I think that it is not recommended.

    Can someone recommend me a few options on what to do. I would like to do things and not to have any downtime.

    Thank you.

    If your database is local SQL (looks), and is 2.x and complete his recovery mode for SQL, you have probably some large translogs and you might also have a lot of data that has piled up over time in the database that could be purged.

    Browse the system files first, as you would with any other server, and find out what is using the space.   On the domestic ass that your database is in mode local recovery, full and the database is old for a few years and little or no maintenance has been done, this knockout can help http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1003980&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=9840420&stateId=0%200%2011555726

    If this isn't the PB or if these conditions do not apply, and if all goes well a search through the file system will lead you in the right direction.

  • Ask for help with reinstalling Windows 7 on Sony Vaio

    Hi all

    I have a Sony Vaio Y Series in which I installed a pirated Windows and also improved version at 10. After these two cases, my laptop has become very slow and can barely use it. Now I want to reinstall the Windows 7 Home Basic 32 bit original version which is pre installed, but I don't know if I have a DVD with it or not.

    If I buy an original Windows of any of the online sites, it'll work, or must it be model specific?

    Can someone tell me how to restore the original version now? I don't have the bifurcated drive where the original should have been in the store. I am based in the India but bought the laptop in Saudi Arabia.

    For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

    It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

    Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

    How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

    Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

    What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?
