How to remove adware Win32/double
The result of a systematic scan with the Windows Live Safety Scanner was that my PC has been infected by adware Win32/double - and that the scanner could not remove it.
The message recommended using Microsoft Essentials, but this did not remove the adware. I also tried Windows Defender, removal tool malicious software from Microsoft, and several other programs, including Norton and some well-known free programs. None of them found Win32/double - if, of course, they could not remove it.
Could someone please give me some advice on how to get rid of it? I would be very grateful

If it does not, then download, install, update (updated by right-clicking on its icon and 'run as administrator' then go to the update tab) and run a complete scan with free malwarebytes.

Adware: Win32/opencandy
Microsoft's analysis said: I find RHIs malware and it also know, it is partially removed. What can I do to remove it entirely? Thank you to
OpenCandy is a potentially unwanted software that might collect information about you or your computer or can change how your computer works. However, the software works in accordance with the license displayed when you installed the software. It is detected by Microsoft as a threat of LOW level that could potentially be ignored by the parser of security or, if you have selected the option under settings to perform the default 'recommended action' value for low level threats when using MSE.

Link to FAQ to see Jim for information about removing Opencandy Installer. You can also try the operation of the Scanner mode command line to remove potentially unwanted software low level of threat by opening a CMD command prompt in the folder where the executable file scanner is stored on disk, and then run ODILE/f: y
Note: 09/07/2011, I tried the CMD prompt above with the safety scanner. It would not yet remove the low level Installer Opencandy. Your best bet is to just manually delete the Opencandy installer when using the Scanner, as it is the only place of the disc where the adware is detected...

There are a lot of things going on in my computer right now, worries me to death, one is called an adware: win32/open candy I guess than the virus. And it is a small thing, but still worry thaat essentials of microsoft has removed only one of them. I also ran the microsoft Scanner and it has not picked up and was not deleted. And I want to change my password to something a little more decent right now. I try to start over all of mine from scratch, because I learned from microsoft a lot what they taught me. But I need a clean start. I need to do something of everything again. I don't want anyone to know who I'm not. I'm afraid that now. I would like to make a few settings that I feel I have to now change hotmail.com and facebook.com and with yahoo.com as well. But I have to be able to do this. I realize that this will be an alias. But considering what I had to go through last month, and even now, I think it would be much better for me.
This thread covers OpenCandy (a matter of gravity low adware) pick-up with MSE:
What is your MSE settings > action for low alert threat level defined as default? Try to set quarantine if it is not already configured on that and don't forget to save the changes. Also, remember that you can seek assistance from MSE free via the web, by email or by phone if necessary.

Microsoft Security Essentials Alert that I don't trust.
I got a dialog box pop-up Microsoft Security Essential Alert state detected the following: Trojan.PSW.Win32.launch; HackTool.Win32/Welevate.A; Adware.Win32.Fraud. various levels of danger have been listed with a button to fix everything. I had another box to download this - Setup.exe, a 2 MB binary file with a url of http://remedyservantantivirus.in/fdd91ce20e17d/download. This is as far as I went due to the fact that I DO NOT HAVE MS SECURITY ESSENTIALS on MY PC! I searched on the web and Ms support pages for the url and nothing was found. Is there any help out there?
Thanks in advance.INspiron E1505
Win XP sp3
Firefox 13.0.1
Chrome & IE alsoPS. I ran the Scanner of MS as the support page told me, he would find any virus problem or spyware. Nothing found.
Thomas gutzkeThis message is not in MSE. If you have an AV/program installed (AND you can), update the latest definitions, start in safe mode (without network), and then run a full scan. I would hazard a guess that you have downloaded something in this setup.exe which is not really a program AV. It would be likely to send all your personal information, including passwords and account numbers, to someone you definitely don't want it to be.
If you do not have an AV installed, follow these tips:
Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:
* MalwareBytes (FREE) http://malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php>
* (FREE) SuperAntiSpyware http://superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE>Delete all what they find, reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)
Then perform a scan with the eSet Online Scanner http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanneronline >.
