After backup: Destination is read-only?

I'm working on implementing a backup procedure appropriate as recommended by most of the experts on this forum. But when you try to save a large amount of data, I get this error message:

Backup: Backup error 'data to USB_HDD_4' job: destination is read-only.

Data, at first sight, seem to be copied on the USB drive.
I tried this on 3 different drives, including the brand new out of the box 2. So I do not think that they would all be defective. This makes me think that it is either a problem with my data on the NAS or a problem in the FrontView backup procedure.

When I connect the drive to the computer and remove the directories manually, for some files with names very long and a deep path, I get an error message ' Source path too Long ":

That's why I'm currently suspect file names very long or very long paths, but I do not know if it is really what is the cause.

I removed a few directories that I suspected of the SIN, but in the next backup, the message continues to come back. So now I'm stuck in a catch-22 situation. I don't know if my backup succeeds and do not want to delete all the data more than the SIN, because it can not saved correctly. So I am not able to set up a procedure of backup appropriate right now.

Has anyone found the root causes of the message "Destination is read-only?
Is it possible that I can get more information about what happened during the backup (for example, this file is causing the message)?

Have searched for a solution to this problem for a long time, but never managed to find the root cause.

In the end, I decided to remove the offending subdirectory containing a backup of a Windows system files. This solves the problem with the backup procedure.

    In Jdeveloper, right-click on the project and go to the project properties menu

    In the content of the project, you can see the output directory path field,

    go to the path and give all the permissions in the folder

  • Read only data with replication SAN HP store? (CA)

    Hello

    Not sure it should be in the ESX or VC forum...    We use EVA and replication on XP SAN with SAN CA (Continuous Access). We have virtual machines on a LUN (read, write) replicated to a destination LUN Dr. When you use HP CA it marks the destination LUN read-only source...

    We want to import the LUN target in our cluster of DR esx, but when we add the disk it formats... We have tried to deceive esx by adding the data reading writing that works then set up this store again which marks while reading then however only store data disappears from the host to storage page...

    Anyone know if this will work or how to make it work?  Maybe a setting advanced on the part of the drive to ESX import read only LUNS which we will turn to read write if we talk about DR

    Any ideas would be thank you very much

    Packetboy.

    On the second site ESXs, enter into the advanced settings and go to LVM > DissalowSnapshotLun and set it to 0. Perform a new analysis and data warehouses SHOULD appear available. You can go back to la to write.

    Only, I did not understand why the added ESX your LUN as data stores format again. This behavior should not happen. Maybe something is not replicated.

    Do not forget that, by adding a virtual computer, you will need to keep/change the uuid as the data store has changed unit logic (indeed) number.

  • Backup error ReadyNas DUO - «read only file system»

    Hello community,

    I hope you can help me with a problem I'm having with my ReadyNAS Duo (v1) running Raidiator 4.1.14. At night, it is running a backup job that copies a file from a computer on the local network to the NAS itself. What often happens is after a reboot for a while, things work sometimes days, sometimes weeks. But then I get e-mails warning that contains journal like entries:

    CP: cannot create the file ' / backup/projecten/./CAM_strip/01_v0.1.JPG': read-only file system

    Usually this warning is given for each file (which means thousands) so that emails are big enough. And obviously the backup has not been made. I tried to solve this problem and sought similar questions on this forum and on the web, but nothing helped. I can't identify what is the cause.

    Maybe you could help me the grace to some of the run settings, I can tinker too. I guess it has something to do with the ownership and rights to access these files and folders.

    Thank you!

    Hello Miss,

    Aside from trying StephenB and JennCs suggestions, if you create a test share, can you tell us if you will experience the same behavior in read-only?

    Forward to your response.

    Kind regards

    Yes you can do it,

    SQL > alter tablespace users read write;

    After the successful restoration.

    STATUS TABLESPACE_NAME

  • Profile of preferences given to 'Read only' after having turned it off.

    I can't start Firefox. He said: it is already running. The Task Manager shows all running instances. There is no "parent.lock" file '... default' folder. Every time I look at the preferences for the 'profile' folder, it shows 'read only' is defined. I erase it and next time I look at the 'read only' preferences is set.

    I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but it always resets "read only". Looks like the profile folder has something corrupt in it.

    Only a check mark in the box read-only means that a file or folder is read-only.

    Windows does check all files in a folder displays, instead of a green block to indicate that it is not safe.

    Always look at the files individually.

    Easier to do, it's to make the visible attributes in the mode "view details >": choose details in Windows Explorer.

    One possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

    Delete all rules for Firefox in the list of permissions in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

  • Favorites folder is read-only after you move to C: drive for drive E:

    After a completely successful installation of Vista, I moved the folder Favorites from my C: drive to my E: drive (because it is the one that contains all my data and is more secure against piracy, etc.).

    However, since then, my favorites folder is read-only, and I'm unable to register new Favorites.
    I messed up with the permissions on the Security tab, without success. Of course, I also tried to simply remove the tick in the read-only box and cascading changes to subfolders.
    Once again, without success.

    I even moved the folder back on the C: drive to see if that solved my problem. However, Vista seems to have copied the safe with her and I still cannot reset the read-only attribute.

    I have two SATA drives in my PC (a 120 GB and a 500 GB (partitioned)) and I have not had this problem with previous versions of Windows.

    Someone at - it ideas on how I can fix this without having to reinstall?
    Thanks in advance.

    Right-click on the file, choose "Properties".

    Switch to the tab 'location '.
    Click on the button "Restore Default". This should return the file to its original location, with security settings original.
    The Favorites folder is one of the personal folders is working properly in its default location, as I discovered myself.

  • Make the fields to a custom read-only after clickingsubmit button page to insert page

    Hi all

    I have a custom insert page. When the user enters and click on submit, I want to do all the other fields read-only except 'create another button of registration '.

    Also, I have a lov in my custom page, when the user selects invalid values, error messages will be displayed. My problem is same after displaying the error message, the user has the option to navigate to the order of the day and enter data and submit. How to prevent the user to navigate to the order of the day if the value entered is not valid.

    Please suggest your ideas.

    Option 1: Add a controller to the dynamic region and ad whereclause LOV to limit the LOV query, so that it will not allow the user to select the 100.

    Option 2: The LOV (if required), just remove the value of the element LOV LOV action, based on the State.

    I hope this helps.

    See you soon

  • Texteelement read only after it retrieve records

    Hi I have situation where I lov which record recover and fill the folder to other fields I have what it takes to define this textitem to read after it retrieve records the user cannot go back and enter the value after recover data. so the situation is using pass code type textitem example 009 and tab after that the user cannot go back and type again the textitem should read only am in the form of oracle 11 g

    Hello

    If this element of text attached to the lov is a single block record, use the SET_ITEM_PROPERTY procedure with the UPDATE_ALLOWED = property_false property.

    If it is a multi-record block, use the SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY procedure with the UPDATE_ALLOWED = property_false property.

    So, the logic might be:

    IF: blk_name.textitem is not null THEN - assuming a valid value entered via lov (you can check this if you set the "Post to list" item text to true).

    SET_ITEM_xxxxxxx ('blk_name.textitem', UPDATE-ADMITTED, PROPERTY_FALSE);

    END IF;

  • VMware Consolidated Backup, LInux Machines go read-only

    We have a strange problem, the scenario is as follows:

    3 knots x 3650, hba qlogic, Vmware 3.5 Update 4

    1 SATA ds3400 dual ctrl

    1 x 3650 dedicated to the VCB nodes

    A lot from time to time, virtual Linux machines, VCB has completed the backup, rest with the read-only file system, the only chance to solve the problem is to restart the virtual machines: we already checked the vmware tools and are all up to date.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much

    As a general rule, it is not realistic to adjust the waiting times for the LSI or buslogic drivers scsi as they would need to be recompiled. To my knowledge there is no kernel option, you can pass to them on this issue. Some versions of redhat specifically deal with it is bad and flipping in read-only mode. I think RHEL 4 U4 and precedent are touched by this, U5 has been set, and the problem was inexplicably re-introduced in U6 (I hope those updated numbers are right, I have to look back through my SRs to understand). If I were you, I would look at the upgrade to vSphere 4 that has a couple of cool things.

    1. new options scsi (LSI SAS, paravitual SCSI driver pvscsi virtual controller)

    2 VMFS 3.33 (which will require you to reformat your LUN with the new VMFS however) has up-to-date SAN attempts, which means that wait times do not necessarily make the LSI/Buslogic controller in the first place and will be dealt with at the level of the VMFS layer. It is possible that you could put a LUN with the VMFS 3.33 using host vSphere 4.0.0 and not spend the rest of your hosts, but I'm not positive on this one here.

  • Make all the text fields to read only after signing form

    Hello

    I have a form of direct cycle that must have all the defined text fields as read only after the signing.

    The java script has been placed in the sign post to a digital signature field event.

    for (var i = 0; i < this.numFields; i ++) {}

    NJC var = this.getNthFieldName (i);

    If (cNm.type = "text") this.getField (NJC) .readonly = true;

    }

    After signing the following the error in console form appears:

    this.getNthFieldName is not a function

    Can someone advise please how to change the script so that when the form is signed all text fields become ready only?

    Any help will be most appreciated.

    Thank you.

    You don't need any JavaScript to do this.

    In the designer, you can configure the field signature in this way, that all fields will be locked after the signing.

  • Data warehouse backups and read only tablespaces

    Hi all

    I'm working on a database to store data with the following specifications:

    Version: Oracle Enterprise 10.2.0.3
    Operating system: Solaris
    Application: Data warehouse

    Allows us to take the "level 0" & "level 1" RMAN backups. " We block change tracking is enabled and data files and archival of backups RMAN records directly on tape.

    I'm exploring ways to reduce backups "level 0" and was specifically focusing on the use of read-only repositories for this purpose. ".

    I often saw that he mentions that a best practice D/Ws is to store old static partitions of tables of facts read only tablespaces in order to reduce the size of backups.

    In case you have already implemented such a scheme, I would like to know how you have implemented it.

    I think the following mechanism:

    -Start using the tablespace, rather than 'level 0' backups at the database level.
    -Save the last SNA of all files before saving.
    -If the last CNS has not changed since the last backup and the tablespace is in read-only mode, then
    -Check if a copy of backup storage space was completed within the window of recovery and is accessible.
    -If the copy exists, so backup tablespace, otherwise save the tablespace.
    -If the tablespace is read/write, and then save it.

    I have not drawn on the low-level details, but this seems to be a lot of work. I just know from you if there are any device ready to use which makes all this easier.

    Thanks in advance.

    go through the documentation of rman, you will notice that if you put 'optimize' (use CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON the rman prompt) he will perform following tasks automatically during backup.
