Yes you can do it,

SQL > alter tablespace users read write;

After the successful restoration.

sys@11GDEMO > select tablespace_name, status of dba_tablespaces where nom_tablespace = "CKPT"

CKPT ONLINE

sys@11GDEMO > alter tablespace ckpt read-only;

Tablespace altered.

CKPT READ ONLY+.

sys@11GDEMO > alter tablespace ckpt read write; +

  • Data warehouse backups and read only tablespaces

    Hi all

I'm working on a database to store data with the following specifications:

    Version: Oracle Enterprise 10.2.0.3
    Operating system: Solaris
    Application: Data warehouse

Allows us to take the "level 0" & "level 1" RMAN backups. " We block change tracking is enabled and data files and archival of backups RMAN records directly on tape.

I'm exploring ways to reduce backups "level 0" and was specifically focusing on the use of read-only repositories for this purpose. ".

I often saw that he mentions that a best practice D/Ws is to store old static partitions of tables of facts read only tablespaces in order to reduce the size of backups.

In case you have already implemented such a scheme, I would like to know how you have implemented it.

    I think the following mechanism:

-Start using the tablespace, rather than 'level 0' backups at the database level.
-Save the last SNA of all files before saving.
-If the last CNS has not changed since the last backup and the tablespace is in read-only mode, then
-Check if a copy of backup storage space was completed within the window of recovery and is accessible.
-If the copy exists, so backup tablespace, otherwise save the tablespace.
-If the tablespace is read/write, and then save it.

I have not drawn on the low-level details, but this seems to be a lot of work. I just know from you if there are any device ready to use which makes all this easier.

    Thanks in advance.

go through the documentation of rman, you will notice that if you put 'optimize' (use CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON the rman prompt) he will perform following tasks automatically during backup.

  • Backup error ReadyNas DUO - «read only file system»

    Hello community,

I hope you can help me with a problem I'm having with my ReadyNAS Duo (v1) running Raidiator 4.1.14. At night, it is running a backup job that copies a file from a computer on the local network to the NAS itself. What often happens is after a reboot for a while, things work sometimes days, sometimes weeks. But then I get e-mails warning that contains journal like entries:

CP: cannot create the file ' / backup/projecten/./CAM_strip/01_v0.1.JPG': read-only file system

Usually this warning is given for each file (which means thousands) so that emails are big enough. And obviously the backup has not been made. I tried to solve this problem and sought similar questions on this forum and on the web, but nothing helped. I can't identify what is the cause.

Maybe you could help me the grace to some of the run settings, I can tinker too. I guess it has something to do with the ownership and rights to access these files and folders.

    Thank you!

    Hello Miss,

Aside from trying StephenB and JennCs suggestions, if you create a test share, can you tell us if you will experience the same behavior in read-only?

    Forward to your response.

  • problem with upgrade of database with read only tablespace

    Hi all

When we try to upgrade of database 10.2.0.1.0 to 10.2.0.5.0 on Linux x 86. Unfortunately, we have two or three table spaces are read-only mode. The dbua compiled by saying that he is not able to resize read only tablespace. So we used manual upgrade using catupgrd.sql. Before running the catupgrd.sql that we tried to change playback that in none of them only worked in the line/ofline watch still read only. After upgrade we noticed some components are not valid are

Oracle Workspace Manager INVALID 10.2.0.5.0 00:01:04
Oracle Data Mining INVALID 10.2.0.5.0 00:00:52

Could you please help how to solve this one. Database is started fine and operational. But we cannot do these tablespace to online and how to fix the above components not valid. Any help is much appreciated.

    Kind regards.

    Hello

    Yes the catupgrd.sql is re-courable.

Please read carefully the README, in chapter manually upgrading a 10.2 database that the main steps are:

-Start of the database in UPGRADE mode.

-Run utlu102i.sql in order to check the database before the upgrade.

    -Run the catupgrd.sql.

-Check the patch.log error file and inspect the components list that is displayed at the end of the catupgrd.sql script. This list gives the version and State of each SERVER component in the database.

-If necessary, rerun the script catupgrd.sql after correction of problems.

    -etc...

You will have many tips of the README, and it is essential to follow.

Of course, before doing anything, it is important to get a good backup of the database.

    Hope this helps.
    Best regards

  • After backup: Destination is read-only?

I'm working on implementing a backup procedure appropriate as recommended by most of the experts on this forum. But when you try to save a large amount of data, I get this error message:

Backup: Backup error 'data to USB_HDD_4' job: destination is read-only.

Data, at first sight, seem to be copied on the USB drive.
I tried this on 3 different drives, including the brand new out of the box 2. So I do not think that they would all be defective. This makes me think that it is either a problem with my data on the NAS or a problem in the FrontView backup procedure.

When I connect the drive to the computer and remove the directories manually, for some files with names very long and a deep path, I get an error message ' Source path too Long ":

That's why I'm currently suspect file names very long or very long paths, but I do not know if it is really what is the cause.

I removed a few directories that I suspected of the SIN, but in the next backup, the message continues to come back. So now I'm stuck in a catch-22 situation. I don't know if my backup succeeds and do not want to delete all the data more than the SIN, because it can not saved correctly. So I am not able to set up a procedure of backup appropriate right now.

Has anyone found the root causes of the message "Destination is read-only?
Is it possible that I can get more information about what happened during the backup (for example, this file is causing the message)?

Have searched for a solution to this problem for a long time, but never managed to find the root cause.

In the end, I decided to remove the offending subdirectory containing a backup of a Windows system files. This solves the problem with the backup procedure.

  • Strange question: Hyperion Planning Forms becomes read-only and data are destroyed: 11.1.2.2

    Hello

Let me start by saying that I am not new to Hyperion Planning. We encounter a weird problem in our Test System. We notice that some (NOT ALL) of our tour of webforms in readonly webforms. all the cells in the gray form. It comes to despite the fact that the read-only checkbox is not checked in the form as well as the security is fine on all dimensions; Basically, all the cells of the form are valid combinations.

The form becomes readonly, and all the data on this form is always Wiped. This has happened only for two web forms so far. We took a lot of Calc (none of the Calc have cleardata command). We do not know why this is happening. Maybe it's a bug in the product... not sure. has anyone seen this behavior before?

    Please let me know.

  • VMware Consolidated Backup, LInux Machines go read-only

We have a strange problem, the scenario is as follows:

    3 knots x 3650, hba qlogic, Vmware 3.5 Update 4

    1 SATA ds3400 dual ctrl

1 x 3650 dedicated to the VCB nodes

A lot from time to time, virtual Linux machines, VCB has completed the backup, rest with the read-only file system, the only chance to solve the problem is to restart the virtual machines: we already checked the vmware tools and are all up to date.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much

As a general rule, it is not realistic to adjust the waiting times for the LSI or buslogic drivers scsi as they would need to be recompiled. To my knowledge there is no kernel option, you can pass to them on this issue. Some versions of redhat specifically deal with it is bad and flipping in read-only mode. I think RHEL 4 U4 and precedent are touched by this, U5 has been set, and the problem was inexplicably re-introduced in U6 (I hope those updated numbers are right, I have to look back through my SRs to understand). If I were you, I would look at the upgrade to vSphere 4 that has a couple of cool things.

    1. new options scsi (LSI SAS, paravitual SCSI driver pvscsi virtual controller)

2 VMFS 3.33 (which will require you to reformat your LUN with the new VMFS however) has up-to-date SAN attempts, which means that wait times do not necessarily make the LSI/Buslogic controller in the first place and will be dealt with at the level of the VMFS layer. It is possible that you could put a LUN with the VMFS 3.33 using host vSphere 4.0.0 and not spend the rest of your hosts, but I'm not positive on this one here.

  • Save the questions: message error "the file may be read-only.

I do a lot of scanning to PDF and will often add a page newly digitized to an existing pdf archived and then resave it.

I have a very consistent workflow and use both screens. The folders that contain the files are still on my second monitor while I work on the main screen.

After that I inserted the page newly digitized in the existing pdf very often I get an error Impossible to save the file:

The file may be read-only or another user can open. Please save the document under a different name or in a different folder.

I'm the only user, none of the files are read-only, and I am sure that the file I'm re-record is not enabled (I see that on my second screen).

Sometimes, if I click on the second screen to another folder, he'll let re-register me, but other times I have to close the Windows Explorer completely.

I would avoid renaming of files: it is important to keep the name of the original file.

This seems to happen a lot more with Acrobat X Pro version 9. It's very embarrassing.

    No known workaround solution?

    DG

The folders that contain the files are still on my second screen

In the case of Windows (a Mac user will have to talk about this for the environment).

If Windows Explorer is "focused" on the file (for example, the file selected) or has the "focus" on the parent or the files folder/directory you get the alert dialog box.

Close Windows Explorer or place its development d.

In addition, if the preview feature is used for files in a folder (or in a nested subfolder files) you will experience similar "speed humps" in the path of the workflow.

Was not always in this way, but the OS updates (XP, Vista, etc.) seem to have given us some clever new options which, by coincidence, there are some pitfalls.

    Be well...

  • The document can be encrypted or read-only

Due to the corruption of the boot files, I restored PC back to factory settings, recreated the user accounts and re-installed all software. The last step was to restore backup user files.

For example, to restore all files in c:/users/xyz in their original location. No problem, all of the files restored successfully.

However, when I go to c:/users/xyz/documents/abc.doc for example and you try to open the file, I get this "Word cannot access abc.doc. This document can be read-only or encrypted"message.

I look at the properties of the folder c:/user/xyz and see that the read-only check box is shaded. I disabled the read-ony assign and apply to all folders, subfolders and files. He goes and lists all the folders and files it modifies the attribute. The box is now without shading.

However, when I try to access any file, I get the orginal error. I then check the properties of the folder c:/user/xyz and the read-only check box is shaded again!

Same question if I try to change the read-only attribute of any file or subfolder level.

Whenever I try to access any file, the parameter returns to read-only.

    Any ideas?

Go to the folder and give you all the rights in both the main and the display screen advanced (including all subfolders and files).  In the screen advanced and then click the property tab take possession of the entire folder and all its subfolders and files.  Here are some tips that can help you.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  • All my files are set to read-only. The files are not.

All records are all my disks are set to read-only. This includes my drive c, d Bank, e-reader and my backup drive.

The files contained in these files are not read-only. How I found out about it, was that I tried to copy / paste a file from one directory to another last night and it was not authorized. Please keep in mind that I am logged on as administrator. There is only one user, me.

I ran a recent analysis of spyware, virus scan and checked the permissions of users. I unchecked the read-only installation and reset my pc and it still comes up read-only.

    This causes a major problem.

  • InDesign 2015 document opens in read-only

Hello. I have a problem with the documents I created these days, they all open read-only and cannot re - save after changing. The work around is only to save it to another location and then save in the original location. Mac 10.11 El Capitan, quad core 2.8 ghz ram DDR3 - InDesign (11.1.0.122) 2015.1 16gig. Other error messages are exported in pdf format with damaged in a database, error code 2 error message or most of the time sometimes: "unable to save the document. It can be opened by other applications. Close the application and try again. You can also use backups to save it in a new document. « ; Sorry it just a load of rubbish: just open the document, I am the only user. Would be grateful someone from Adobe to help me with this problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software (part of the underwater clouds). Any help will be welcome.

Hi Peter. Thanks for your suggestions. Can I finally found the culprit on why documents open read-only. I remove all third-party plugins and the question was still there, then I got my thinking cap on and who find a updated software in the background at the same time as the issue began: Trend Micro updated to the latest version and I wasn't aware of. Uninstalled and everything looks good today. Why he did, and why only InDesign documents is a mystery and don't have time to hunt. I think it may have given me a simple lesson: don't let software update/upgrade to level automatically, a bit of extra time and do it manually so that you know what has been added or changed. In any case, thanks for your help once again.
