  If this is a new installation, you can try to delete/rename user_projects & reconfigure all the components again (creating new Shared services registry). Just make sure that you have enough disk space before proceeding.

  My questions are these: what is the best way to try to recover the files? If I do a system restore which will bring back all the documents as they were before the update? A system restore would return all users that may have been changed as well?  I'm just sick to my stomach that I can't find the file because it is the last 20 years of pictures and videos of my family and if I can't get these back I lost all my memories :-(

  This is not possible - there is no way to delete/remove/purge data support and create an instance of 'clean '.

  You must perform a new installation and redo all your installations on the database of the new facility.

  Best practice is to create an instance of 'gold' or 'setup' with all your facilities (but not data) and allows to clone or seeds of other instances as needed.

  Note:  Set in the Options menu of food to be slightly longer than the time set in the Menu of the screen saver or you will never see your screen saver start.
