Hi Shon S,.

Since you are facing problems after you remove the filters, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the DVD player and check.

  • Want to reinstall XP but the computer does not recognize the cd drive and does not allow for any installation.

Accidentally deleted some system files and now the computer won't allow me to install anything. Tried to install a new cd player to replace a corrupt, but it does not recognize drive. All the driver and OS install CD. Help.

    Fix missing files:

Try to run the checker system (CFS) files.  Press start, select run, type: SFC/scannow

SFC will ask your installation disc (which you must have if you are going to re - install), put it in the drive when requested.  Leave the SFC to replace all missing or corrupt files.

    To resolve the startup problem:

Check your BIOS Setup and make sure the optical drive is enabled and listed before the hard drive in the boot order.  When you start, there will be a message, "type any key to boot from the CD-ROM."  Type any key (execpt shift, shift caps lock, NumLock, etc) will cause the CD to be initialized in the installation program.  (I use the space bar, it's an easy target.)

In addition, it would be useful to know a few more things: 1) what edition and service pack level of Windows XP you are running?  (2) what is the model and manufacturer of the optical drive, please?

Is there a solution to this?

    Thank you

    Colin

    For me it s case.
I would say that the BIOS can't handle the new player properly because of the wrong master/slave/c-salt settings
Readers slim for computers laptops support setting master/slave/c-salt settings and these settings can only be changed by changing the rider as on desktop drives.
So it is very important that you purchase a compatible player and supported because disks with incorrect settings will not work.

Before buying a car, you should ask the service provider to Toshiba for a caught player supported and compatible

For these last days, my computer does not recognize the CD/DVD drive.  I have tried everything - publishers of registry, check the physical connections inside the computer, the system restore and install Fix - It programs.  However, the computer does not recognize this drive.  I also wonder if it is a hardware problem.  The light on the drive is a constant in green, and does not have the Open button.  And when I use the bent-paper-clip-in-the-little-hole and can open the drive, it will not read the disc.  Please advise...

I fixed my problem with the BIOS operating system & not recognizing not not my DVD player to reinvest the solder on the motherboard.  You can find instructions on how to do it here: http://www.computerrepairtips.net/how-to-reflow-a-laptop-motherboard/

Important: The above link contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Microsoft did not your hardware - done HP.

All support for it - regardless of your operating system - is the manufacturer of the equipment.

  • My computer windows 8 HP Pavillion M8100n does not recognize the DVD drive or the SD card reader. Do you have any suggestions?

My computer windows 8 HP Pavillion M8100n does not recognize the DVD drive or the SD card reader.  I have just upgraded to Windows 8 of Window Vista. Do you have any suggestions?

    Hello

I see nothing unusual, except that there should be a "0001", or even "0002"...

When you have made the registry change, you used the command line (Admin)?... the process may not work with the regular command prompt...

Also, try to go to Device Manager, right click on your DVD drive, click on uninstall and restart.

  • Install Windows 8 does not recognize the system drive

I built a new machine (chart below). Since this is a new machine and not an upgrade, I bought Win 8 Pro 64 bit OEM to do a clean install. The SSD is my system disk that Windows 8 will be installed. Four data drives are mirrored, two for the other two. Construction went perfectly. The BIOS recognizes all six disks: 1 SSD, 4 HDD, 1 DVD.

Insert and boot the disk of Windows 8. Accept the EULA, enter the product key. Arriving at the page "Where do you want to install Windows?", only four hard disks are listed. The SSD (installation to go) is not found by Win 8. ??? I tried to change ports SATA, cables, power supply - no difference. For each new change of hardware, the BIOS still sees everything. This isn't a hardware problem.

The question remains: why the installation of Windows 8 does not recognize the SSD drive. All five disks are on AHCI. I'm not in RAID.

I spoke with crucial technical support of all (manufacturer of the SSD). They were also surprised that the drive does not appear in the list.

Does anyone have a solution? I spent all the money on hardware, as well as the new version of Windows and I cannot install it.

This is the real kick in the teeth: Microsoft won't support me. The OEM of Windows 8 version is the same as manufacturers, such as Dell or HP. Support told me I had the support of the manufacturer. HA! I am the manufacturer. Either that or upgrade from an earlier version of Windows. This means that any that a new construction machine will get ZERO assumption of Microsoft. All just great.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Windows 8 Pro 64-bit (full version) - OEM
    Intel Core i5 - 3570K
    Card mother GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H

Crucial M4 2.5 "128 GB SSD (system disk)

Rosewill Challenger-U3 ATX Mid Tower Case
    SeaSonic M12II 620W 620 Bronze PSU
    ASUS DVD writer

The DSS must be LOW LEVEL FORMATE.

Once, there may be no other [HDDs] not connected to the SATA ports.

    Install Windows 8 Pro now.

[Edit] Can someone please mark this as answered? I can't because I posted the question. Thank you.

  • Tecra S3: Installation of Vista does not recognize the HARD drive

I try to install Vista Ultimate on my Tecra S3, but installation does not recognize the HARD drive.

I tried to find the driver for Vista for my computer, but not found RAID.
Tried it with XP drivers, but no longer works.

Do you have an idea where I can download Vista drivers for RAID?

    THX

    Hello

Your suggestion is good. The Tecra S3 supports the RAID, and the RAID driver is required to install the OS on the HARD drive.
On the European driver Toshiba page I found a RAID for XP driver.

I put t know if this driver will run under Vista, but I recommend to test.
The RAID XP 1.3.8.0 driver version can be downloaded from this site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

Please note; You can store the RAID driver on an external USB and Vista should recognize it!

    Good luck
