After removing the Real Player, I can more open shortcuts to office.
Original title: How can I fix problem with shortcut
Wednesday, June 28, 11, I used IOBOT advanced system care 4 uninstall (uninstalling advanced deep) utility to remove real player. I didn't know that he loose Windows Media Player 11. WPM 11 has also been removed. I couldn't open anything of my desktop shortcuts. I tried to open IE7 with open with IE. Does not open. He converted all my desktop icons to open with IE. Go help and support in the menu start for system restore, but could not access it. So on the advice of the person of Tech of the company that built my desktop computer (measure locally) I used family my Widows XP Edition disc repair facility to try to repair Windows. It worked. Reinstalled SP3 and all updates and WMP11. All my desktop shortcuts were still open with IE. Could get the system restore, but the big problem is that I'm not able to go to any date before 06/28. I sent an e-mail to Microsoft Help, indicating all of the above, but all I got was an email with a link on how to use the system restore. I don't have any external drive that can hold 50 GB of data (I have a 80 GB hard drive). Is there a way to fix it short of erasing the hard drive and from scratch? I thought to delete all the shortcuts which are open with IE, but would then lose everything in the programs in the start menu. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hi SteveHavlish,
Method 1
Check out the link and run the Fixit tool available, check if it helps.

Method 3
If the previous step fails, then you need to change the file associations for the shortcuts corrupted office.

After removing the Dual Boot, I can't delete the old partition
Some time ago I installed an SSD and I have Windows 7 installed in Dual Boot with the Windows 7 system.
So, I had two versions of Windows 7, which worked well. Now I no longer use the old system, I disabled the function of Dual Boot. I want to format the old drive, but it does not work because Windows still sees it as active system partition. In addition, I can't delete the partition.
How can I format or delete the old partition?
I already tried Msconfig, Bud that did not help. Default Msconfig begins with 'selective startup' and an operating system that is displayed in the Startup tab. When I select 'Normal Startup' there are two operating systems that are listed in the Startup tab. When I delete the old and reboot, it is back again...
Who has the solution?
(1) create a system repair disc (if you do not have an installation disk for Windows 7 for the version of Windows you have installed).
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-system-repair-disc(2) then remove the hard disk you want to format. Now try to start the remaining version of Windows. You should see a missing bootmgr message. Proceed to step #3.
(3) Bootmgr is missing, message or black screen with cursor flashing
(See method #2 in this Wiki article)
http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/wiki/Windows_7-system/Bootmgr-is-missing-message-or-black-screen-with/73fef5b7-5a7f-4910-a2b0-7219e9ec1646(4) after you have created the BCD store on the remaining drive (to step #3 above), it should start up on Windows and also be the partition 'Active'.
(5) shut down the PC and set the old drive, turn on a load Windows and then delete all the remaining partitions on the old disk.

Redesign existing external hard disks and still 6 Lightroom able to find existing photos.
I currently store my pictures on and an external hard drive. Lightroom 6 was not able to find the picture momentarily files. I inserted an external Flash DRIVE after removing the hard drive and the computer renamed the stick with the same drive letter that has been designated by Lightroom to store my photos. I could go into my Windows 10 and reset the player to the letter that Lightroom has given at the beginning of the external hard drive. However, I know this can happen again, if I connect any stick USD or another device, while the external hard drive is not connected to my laptop. I found the information that I can do the new designation of the final drive by choosing a letter it is 1/2 way or higher in the alphabet. I would like to turn an external hard drive on a strong letter, warns we hope this previous problem. My question is, if I already have a lot of pictures on this external hardrive with the designation of the current drive, how it becomes a higher letter and have 6 Lightroom recognizes files, now under the new designation of drive letter without having to go to each photo individually and manually force Lightroom 6 find each photo. It would take more time than I'd like to lose. Is there a way to get just 6 Lightroom to recognize the new disk designation has changed and is able to find all of the existing files?
I have read the ADOBE LightRoom 6 manual and seem not to be able to find anything on how to do it.
Any help would be welcome.
Thank you!
So in Windows, you can select a drive like q letter (or any other letter you want only towards the end of the alphabet)
Then in Lightroom, you can reconnect to the photos on q: the following instructions (see specifically 4 Figure and related text)

need to remove the old updates, how can I know which ones who?
I have so many updates in my computer, I think they use a lot of space - I don't have "have a lot of memory left. I have updates dating back to 2002. If I can delete some, can you tell me where?
Thank you very much!
E-mail address is removed from the privacy *.
You should not remove the update but you can delete the uninstall information.
I'll assume you mean the hard drive space. You can also use Disk Cleanup to help the removal of junk. You can uninstall old programs is no longer, you use or alternatively, get a bigger hard drive.
As to your question about updates - see: http://taurarian.mvps.org/WU_XP/removing_old_windows_updates.htm
Folders that have uninstall as part of the name (for example $NtUninstallKB282010$ who reside in C:\windows (hidden files) are window Hot difficulty updating folders/files) can be removed safely (providing ever, you wish to uninstall the updates). I recommend you leave these records for a period of at least one month to make sure that the update works correctly.
These updates can be removed individually or together. To learn more about the update/s go on:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/xxxxxx
NB: XXXXXX = the actual number, not to mention the "Q" or "Ko."Once you have removed the uninstall folders/files, then go to control panel, add/remove programs. Select the title of the corresponding Windows fix on the folder/file of the patch you just deleted, and select Delete. You will get a Windows error. This is because you deleted the uninstall folder/files. Simply choose OK and the entry will be removed from the Add/Remove Programs list.
Don't NOT delete the folder $ $hf_mig

Satellite A55-S1065 - after removing the battery, BIOS ask me password
So, something happened yesterday, and it seems to me that it is very strange.
I have a portable Satellite A55-S1065. And while I was with power point, the
computer crashes. In the midst of my confusion, I decided to delete
the battery just to make him stop.So I did it and plugged it again
and I tried to turn on the computer. Now, the bios ask me a password,
but I've no idea what password it is that. Can someone help me solve this problem?
IM really desperate to find a solution to this since this computer contain
many of my works.Thank you very much.
> After removing the battery, BIOS ask me password
I know it may seem silly now, but I never heard of something like that. I use laptop for a long time and I had the experience with many others and strange question, but something like that, never.Problem is that we are dealing here in the public forum and BIOS password is a very sensitive area and very important security feature, so we can not write here about some illegal ways how you can remove the BIOS password.
If there is no way to start your laptop, I recommend you contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
I'm sorry. :( -

missing hal.dll message after removing the hard drive
Original title:Ok, I had the same problem on my hard drive missing hal.dll. My question is what windows xp writes the cmos on my computer?
OK, I had the same problem on my hard drive missing hal.dll. My question is what windows xp writes the cmos on my computer? The reason why I ask, is that I physically removed the hard drive from the computer and then start the computer I get the same message hal.dll lack. Since the hard drive is not installed, the only place where this message comes's cmos or bios of the computer.
I know it seems odd, but I couldn't believe it when I saw it after removing the hard drive. It used to be with older computers and Windows 95 or 98 when you took a hard drive that wasn't working and installed with one that works from a different computer, you could swap out and boot the computer and make a few changes to some drivers if you.So what is windows xp write to the memory cmos on my computer?
> Ok, I had the same problem on my hard drive missing hal.dll.
The same as what? If you reference another thread, please include a link to it.
> My question is what windows xp writes the cmos on my computer?
It is not write anything for her at all.
> Lack of the reason why I ask this is that I physically removed the hard drive from the computer and then start the computer I get the same message hal.dll.
I think that you're wrong. I would like to say two things happening:
1. you have more than one hard drive and the problematic drive was not removed, or
2. you deleted something other than a hard drive.
Do you have a CD in your CD drive by chance?
What is the brand and model of your PC? Are you able to get into the BIOS?
