• Mathcad 14 will not work after successful installation

  I have a new laptop and installed as the first software MathCad.  Installation meets with success.  Congratulations after the installation of liscence.  When I open the mathcad 14 in Start menu, the message...  Mathcad has stopped working correctly appears.  It's software I have intalled on XP, so I think that the disc I install is correct.  PTC has provided me with a new license for the new machine (I sent them the hard drive id and they provided new license).  Sometimes, I see a list of unregistered .ocx and .dll files.  I tried to launch the privileges to administrator and re-install/repair.  Same results.  Any ideas?

  Having spent the last 48 hours trying to solve this problem of talking to TPC for two hours, I was finally able to reinstall the program successfully.  If you get an error message during the installation which results in error 1305.Error (i.e. check that the lib.tar file exists and that you can access), there is a problem with the length of the filepath name.  In addition, it might be a problem with the installation of MSXML 4.0.   Here are the steps I took:

  (1) I created a folder in my C: / drive with a very short name (i.e. two letters).
  (2) I downloaded the file CD_English.exe of the site Web of PTC for Mathcad 14.0.  It is under its support page.  This is the version put out on listening to Mathcad 14.0.  I extracted all the files in the new folder of file with a short name.
  (3) after downloading, I opened the PreReq file and clicked on all the files listed for install.  When you install msxml, go through the Setup Wizard and click on modify.  Make sure that the XML SDK option is checked.  Complete the installation.
  4) go to the setup.exe file and install Mathcad.
  I hope this will work!

  Try to run jdev\bin\jdev.exe and see if you see a mistake in the DOS window.

  I have a Windows XP computer that keeps telling me I need to install 2 security updates.

  KB956572 and KB981852.  The problem is that these updates are already installed and appear in my Add/Remove programs.  So I go ahead and install the updates again anyway.  The machine indicates the updates installed successfully.  However after a reboot of the system, updates 2 same pop up still say that they must be installed.

  I have removed/uninstalled the updates in question.  Re-installed them.  Without success.  They are always needing to be installed.  I tried the re-registration of the components of windows updates and wiped the windows update temporary folder, but always the same result.

  Does anyone have any advice or ideas?  Thank you.

  I could solve the problem by uninstalling the updates in question.  Download the stand alone on the Microsoft Web site.  Then the installation of each update from command line with the parameter "/ o".  After a reboot, everything was good to go.

• Why no games start after successful installation?

  I have recently completely reformat my hard drive and reinstall XP SP3 - since then no games will start for example. Crysis2, Borderlands, Far Cry, etc. Most of them just install apparently successfully, but when I run get them the hourgalss for 10 seconds and then nothing. The only exception is Borderlands that comes up with the following error message:

• VMWare Workstation does not work after successful installation

  I installed VMWare Workstation 6.0.5 on Win XP SP3 with success, but the program itself does not start, I get no error messages, just nothing happens. Nothing in the logs of the system either.

  When I tried to run the program in Mode safe mode, it worked!... (obviously impossible to start a computer V, but Workstation started very well)

  I think I just found the reason... and a deaf mute.

  I have installed many programs of news lately for the WebCam and connect it to my DirectTV DVR.  So I did not understand that the wrong software belongs to but think it is the WebCam install stuff that belongs to Live Messenger.

  Anywho, the process that prevents any software vmWare installation or execution was "FixCamera.exe".

  Once I have debug more I will update this list.

  It's by chance luck that I found that I was killing various thought process that it could be linked to the virus filters.

  I had an accident important a few weeks ago, that came out the main partition on my hard drive (even if the other partition appears to be very well) and I installed Windows XP Pro on a new hard drive to install Windows 7 in the near future.

  I found some drivers which I burned on disc, and install them on my new drive hard but now I have problems with her laptop in some areas:

  You cannot use spaces in file names, so I think that these errors are because you use a space in the name of the directory (Oracle R12) - Please change the name of the directory to another name without spaces (e.g. OracleR12) and retry the installation then.

• NOR-DAQmx is not available in LabVIEW 8.6 after the installation of DAQmax 8.7.1

  I have LabVIEW 8.0 and LabVIEW 8.6 installed on my laptop that is running Windows Vista.  After successful installation of NIDAQmax 8.7.1, OR-DAQmx is available only in LV 8.0, but not LV8.6.  LV8.6, cannot see setting MAX under "measure i/o.     Can anyone help on this?   Thank you.

  Well, the last DAQmx who supported LV8.0 was version 8.7.1. Since 8.7.2 support the LV 8.0 went and appu LV8.6 fell... so there is no DAQmx version that supports both 8.0 and 8.6.
