After update - black of Windows Vista at startup display 1142/1142 (Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS)

I had an update before closing my office last night (that is, using Vista).  This morning when I turned on the computer, a black screen came with the appearance of the following text:

1142/1142 (Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS)

I couldn't do anything so, I turned off my computer.  Now, the power will not come.  If anyone has any suggestions (could power suddenly gone bad or the power suddenly button failed - just a coincidence, it happened at that moment?).

A big thank you to all those who wish to enlighten me on this matter.

Note: This Office was purchased in 2008 - Acer Aspire AM5620-E5523A (I'll never buy Acer again once!)

Hello

    Someone please HELP!

    I was able to fix the problem by reinstalling windows using the Installation DVD of Vista. He did a "fresh" Reinstall. To do this you first have to set the BIOS to boot from the CD drive instead of the hard drive.

    Instructions to do so can be found here: http://techpaul.wordpress.com/2007/08/03/how-to-boot-from-a-cd/

    Insert your Vista DVD and choose repair or install. My Vista files have been basically corrupt but not your strength. If they are not to select Repair will give you the opportunity to do a system restore.

    Don't forget to reinstall Vista to wipe your hard drive and you will lose your files. System Restore will not. But if you supported rose them to an external drive or online so no problem!

  • How to fix - error 80073712 - windows component store is corrupt - after correctly installing the system update tool for windows vista.

    I get the error code 80073712 - windows component store is damaged - when you try to install windows vista SP1 and also the Cumulative security update to explore 7 (KB978207). Fails every time.

    I followed the advice and installed the system update tool for Windows Vista (does this twice), but still cannot download and install updates - get error 80073712.

    How can I fix the corrupted windows components store?

    Thank you

    CMDC,
    If the SFC was not able to repair files then the best thing to do is to reinstall Windows.  You can try running a disk error check, if it fixes all of the problems, and then rerun the SFC and then install and run the System Update tool.  If there is still a problem with the SFC nto be able to complete then you should do a reinstall.

  • Two copies of windows vista to startup.

    I have two copies of windows vista to startup. How can I remove one of the copies?

    1. Close all running programs and open the windows if you are back on the desktop.
    2. Click on the Start () button.
    3. In the search box of the Start Menu () type msconfig and press enter on your keyboard.
    4. The System Configuration utility opens
    5. Click the Startup tab.
    6. You will now be on the screen start as shown below options.

    Click on the Vista boot entry you don't want > delete it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    To solve your problem correctly, reinstall Vista using a custom Setup to remove whatever you already have installed versions of Vista:
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    I have update for Windows Vista (KB2505189), platform update Supplement for Windows Vista (KB2117917) - french and Cumulative security update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows Vista (KB2508272). These updates get the 8007371B error code. I have Windows Vista 32-bit. I searched the Microsoft catalog available and tried a manual installation for these updates, but they have always failed.     Only the specific return code can be solved by running system, aka CheckSUR update readiness tool -.
    Description of the preparation tool system update for Windows Vista for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2
    CheckSUR for taken over all the versions of basic x 86 (32 bit) Windows Vista
    When you are prompted to save CheckSUR, choose to not run it.
    When the download is complete, close all open programs and browsers.
    If the installed antivirus is Firewall Norton/McAfee party or a 3rd is used, then suggest you first boot system configuration before you run it.
    NOTE: In the clean boot state will be disabled all firewalls of part 3. Ensure that the native Vista firewall is now enabled - enable Windows Firewall on or off
    Now run CheckSUR (. Windows6 0-KB947821-v12-x 86.msu).
    Restart the system for the same configuration of boot clean and do a check for updates in Windows Update in Control Panel.
    If the system can search, detect, download, and install updates now, save an update of a subsequent test.
    If the system can or cannot now, cancel the clean boot configuration and restart in normal Windows mode.
    See if the registered update installs now.
    If the system still cannot install the updates, please copy and paste the contents of one of the newspapers that CheckSUR created when he ran. They are located in and are named
    Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
    Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log
    If the system can install the updates in the clean boot configuration, but not in normal mode of Windows, then there are 3rd party software which is the origin of the update installation problem.
