Age of Empires III game without disc

I would like to install Age of Empires III on a netbook for my son and to play the game without the need to use the disks. Is this possible? I have a legal copy of the game with the product key.

  • Age of Empires 3 does not start on a vista machine, get this error "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."

I'm trying to play age of Empires 3 on my computer running windows vista Home premium and the program does not start. I get the error message: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error." I tried many suggestions from Microsoft (resettlement program, reinstall in safe mode, update & reinstall the drivers for my video card, the compatibility issues with vista, updating and reinstalling directx 9.0 c, install vista service packs 1 & 2) but nothing has worked so far. I was able to play the game on the same computer with windows xp installed (it's a different hard drive that is not in the computer, and everything is the same) and it worked fine. My computer is old enough, but like I said the game worked before installing vista. ASUS A7N8x deluxe, AMD Athlon xp 3200 +, ATI radeon 9600, 2 GB OCZ ram that all suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

    Hi Raygun55,

Welcome to Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

This problem may occur if the Microsoft DirectX file that is mentioned in the error message is damaged or is not copied correctly.

I suggest that you copy the file manually by following the steps and check if you are able to play the game without any problems:

    Manually copy the file

To do this on a computer that is running Windows Vista, follow these steps:

1 insert the disc 1 CD for one of the following games into the player from the computer:

    o Age of Empires III

    o Fable: The Lost Chapters

    o Zoo Tycoon 2

o Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends

    2. click on start to reduce this includes this image and then click Documents.

    3. Locate, and then click computer.

    4. search and then click on the CD drive.

    5. Locate and then click the following folder:

    CD player :\ DirectX9

Note In this folder path, the CD player represents the drive letter of the CD drive.

6 double-click on Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x86.cab, right click on d3dx9_25.dlland then click copy.

In Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, double click Aug2005_d3dx9_27_x64.cab right-click d3dx9_27.dlland then click copy.

Note Use the Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x64.cab file for the x 64 version of the Windows operating system.

    7. find one or more of the following folders, depending on the games that are installed on the computer:

By car : \Program Files\Microsoft: Age of Empires III

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Fable - The Lost Chapters

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Rise of legends

Note In these folder paths, drive represents the letter of the drive where the game is installed.

    8. right click on the folder of the game which is the part that is installed on the computer, and then click Paste.

Note If you have installed more than one game on the computer, repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other games.

You can check the link for more information: error message when you try to start a Microsoft game: "the file d3dx9_XX. DLL was not found": http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910813

Alternatively, you can try to install the game in XP compatibility mode and check if you are able to play or not.

Right-click on the game > click Properties > click on the Compatibility tab > select for XP compatibility mode > click OK.

Let me know if it worked.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • Not associate message for Age of Empires III online game?

So I used AOEIII play online a decent amount, and I always want to play in games with my only friend. I stopped to play for... two months. Then the other day we decided to play a game together. For the last four days, we tried to bring in games, games and invite each other, etc.. It won't work. I can't get... Fifteen for topic % of the games I try to join, and I can host games very well. However, I don't know why I can't join many games and why I specifically can't join games with him. We tried games hosting and inviting each other. Always get a failure to join. And when I find someone whose game I can join, I try to invite him, but he cannot participate if I'm in the game. If I leave, however, he can join. I never got a message saying incompatibility CRC, or something like that, just the standard "failed to join. It is incredibly boring because it is a game, we're both very interested and enjoy. I hope someone can give me some solutions. Thank you advance!

Oh, and it's not my firewall. I made sure that it is off while I play.

    Hi bananaphonemang,

    1. have you installed updates on the computer?

You can try the following steps and check if it helps.

    Step: 1

Sign out and then sign back in again on the game. If this does not work, then try the following steps and check.

    Step 2:

Power cycle your equipment computer and network. Turn off your modem, router, and your computer, and then restart them a few minutes later in this order.

If your router is a "Game Mode", and then have this activated.

    Step 3:

You can also read the following article and try the suggested steps:

  • Difficulties to install Age of Empires III, help please?

I try to install Age of Empires III on my laptop HP G62 under Windows 7 Home Premium, but it keeps stuck a blob in to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\art\art3.bar

Does anyone else have this problem? How can I solve this problem? I really don't want to have to buy another copy of the game.
    Thank you
    Tristan

There should be no problem install AOE3 without using the compatibility settings.
Worked for me on Win7 64 bit.

If she remains stuck at the same point is could be a disk failure. You can try to copy the contents of the disc to a folder on your desktop and install from there. If the files do not complete the copy on the desktop of the disc is probably wrong.

I do not install all the games in the default location - Program Files (x 86), for several reasons.
I used separate partition or HARD drive, but a new folder in the c: / drive is good enough. Name it what you like. You can install all your games in subfolders within that.

Do you have other games that are installed with the specifications of the similar system of the same vintage (2005)? It is possible that the game ends to install if it does not recognize the Intel HD integrated graphics card.

  • Windows 7 - Assassin Creed and Age of Empires III issues

Just bought the Assassin Creed original to play on my new laptop computer.  I met "minimum"; However, the gameplay is slow and audio lagging during the cutscenes.  Here's my laptop specs, which I thought would be able to play the game without any problems:

Windows 7 64 bit, Dual Core processor Intel Pentium T4500 (2.3 GHz), 320 GB Serial ATA-150 - 5400 RPM hard drive, 3 GB of installed RAM, Intel GMA 4500 M Dynamic video Memory Technology 5.0 graphics processor - that it is a new laptop with very few facilities since the purchase, I have a lot of memory left.

Do I not sufficiently meet the requirements to actually play the game without delay?

I am also interested in buying Age of Empires III to play on my laptop, but I'm afraid it might not work either with my current setup.  So before you buy, do you know if my system will play AOE III without delay?  I guess I could try the demo first and see how it goes.

The AOE III demo works fine on my computer, although the compatibility site says it is not compatible...

  • Age of Empires III: Asian Dynasties uninstalling problem

I installed Age of Empires III and two packs of its expansion. But when uninstalling, I left the Asian Dynasties and proceeded with the other two, and now I can not uninstall the package Asian Dynasties. Even when I try to install all the Asian Dynasties installation program once again, try to uninstall and fails to do so, stating the reason in the form of two missing files. Is it possible to remove the traces of the previous installation, as all the files in the installation directory have been removed?

    Hey aniket_s,

What are the two missing files?

You may need to rely on software from third parties to remove the traces of the previous installation of the registry.

Please use your favorite search engine, and find one that is used.

Before reinstalling the game, temporarily disable any anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware software running on your system, then try reinstalling.

  • Whenever I try to install Age of Empires III I get error 1305... help!

Whenever I try to install Age of Empires III, I get error 1305 says "error 1305 reading the file. What I'm doing. This game was not cheap I just installed a new game if it's not my drive. I have 400 GB free, so I have all the space in the world. Finally, he worked on my old pc. I need help, and I'm very crazy. Help, please.

    Hey AnthonyMac,

Consider the weather there is no scratches on the disc, clean the program CD-ROM or DVD. To do this, use a CD-ROM cleaning kit, or gently wipe the silver part of the CD-ROM with a cotton cloth soft and lint from the center of the round trip of the CD-ROM.

If you still have the difficluties installing this, try to copy from the landfill, which is all the files which are there on the CD and see if you get any errors during the copy. If you have errors to copy from the CD, then the CD is wrong. You can download the installer from the Microsoft Web site:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=F627E37B-A8E8-4537-9A88-3C19B670C92A&displaylang=en

Use this download for the trail version and use the product key that is on the CD to convert it into a full version.

I hope that it works and would like to hear from you.

    Thank you

  • How to install Age Of Empires III on a Windows Vista or 7?

I bought Age of Empires III (without extensions, only the original) a few years ago and it worked well on my Windows XP operating system.  I now have a Windows Vista computer and another that runs on Windows 7, and AOEIII installs correctly on either.  On the Vista computer, I get an error message saying the game has known compatibility issues, but there is no solutions when I click on the button "find solutions online.  I choose to install the program even when and installation runs without any problems, but after a few minutes, an error message appears saying that there is an error in opening a specific file and I need to check that the file exists.  I click try again, but the message continues to appear every few minutes.  I tried many solutions online, including the execution of the program in different modes of compatibility and running it as an administrator.  I downloaded a patch for the game, but when I double click on the patch to fix the game, another error message appears saying that there is a problem with my installation.  I checked many sources who say the game is fully compatiable on Windows Vista and 7, but of course, it does not work for me.

    Hi blakesk8dgk,

    ·         What is the exact error message you get?

Check first if Age of Empire III is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 in Windows 7 or Windows Vista Compatibility Center:

    Windows 7 Compatibility Center

    Windows Vista Compatibility Center

    Step 1:

Take a look at the link to the following article:

Error messages when you try to install Age of Empires III or Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends: "Error 1935" or "Error 1904".

    Step 2:

If the game is not compatible, then try to install in compatibility mode and check if it helps:

Windows Vista - Make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows

Run Windows 7 - make older programs in this version of Windows

    I hope this helps.

  • Age of Empires III: the Asian Dynasties cannot install the "Art5.bar" of the case and would not proceed beyond this file. I have

    Original title:

Age of Empires III: the Asian Dynasties

After a few years with Age of Empires III: the Asian Dynasties uninstalled I recently tried to install it. When the Setup could not install the file "Art5.bar" and would not proceed beyond this file. I tried several facilities with the same result. If it is a zero or a problem with the disc, is there no way, far from buying a new copy, which would allow the installation of The Asian Dynasties or would repair the disk? Is it not possible to force the installation to jump before the installation of the file "Art5.bar" and try to find the file online a patch or another source?

I found similar questions online and was trying a possible solution, which was to copy files from my drive in another file and try to install from there. Then I discovered that windows can not copy a certain file on the disk, called ' YPack_ ~ 1 ' correctly. The copy process stop, just as the installer of The Asian Dynasties had previously and would not then spent the ' YPack_ ~ 1 ' file. I was also unable to copy the file '00002.tmp', but I was able to jump in front of the copy of the file. I don't know if this file is corrupted and critical for installation, were not able to determine if yes, when you attempt to run Setup from the folder Setup cannot start the installation of The Asian Dynasties without the ' YPack_ ~ 1 ' file. I have not found similar questions online and do not know if this is the issue of the installation of The Asian Dynasties or indicates files corrupted on my drive.

Hi, I could not also copy the 00002.tmp, but I think it might be due to a cyclic redundancy check indicating a damaged drive.

Maybe try to download this file from the internet and (after checking that it is the right file) replacing the version on your CD.

  • Age of Empires III icons__

After uninstalling Age of Empires III and the expansion of the warlords are two icons remaining in the GameExplorer Panel. They are in a section called "Unspecified" at the bottom of the Panel. I can't right click to find a file location. Does anyone know how to get rid of them? I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The game was initially installed on 11/28/09, so a system restore would be difficult if not impossible. I have done several searches and deleted everything related to AoE with no luck.

Problem solved. I used "drag & drop" to create a link to the icons in GameExplorer on the desktop. Delete the shortcut on the desktop also removed the icon in the "Not specified" section of the GameExplorer. I also had this problem with an icon to Batman Arkham Assylam demo that was left in GameExplorer. I don't know why it worked, but it did. Thank you.
