• 11g GC with Agents of 10g

  10g agents are still able to download 11g GC? Or do I have to upgrade all agents to version 11?
  I ask because 11g is only available on a few platforms, and we cannot improve, but still want the targets on the grid control.

  Yes, it will continue to work. But I suggest you to upgrade all agents to 10.2.0.5 if not done.

• Deploy the Agent Via OEM GC

  I have OEM GC 10.2.0.5.0 / g 11 DB running on a redhat Server 5. I normally install manually the OEM agent on other machines, but I would like to make agent OEM integration feature works for me, but I can't do it. When I go to the tab "Mutations", section Installation of the Agent, Agent to download the software and click on the "Download" button I get an error: "internal error occurred. Check the log file for details. "I was following in emoms.trc. I checked clearly as an internet connection. A couple of things, I wonder about where is agent downloaded from and make I need to specify credentials somewhere?

  I had to change the port on a database(11g) from 1521 to 1526. I adjusted the listeners to include the SID (finapp1t) in the listener listening on the port of 1526. I removed the SID of the OEM (10g btw) and rediscovered. He has rediscovered success.
  
  Now, I get the following when I try to enter in the "spaces" or "tables" on the page of database FINAPP1T:
  
  Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener knows not currently SID given in connect descriptor is used by the client connect descriptor: (description = (address = (host = urora2t.unioncentral.com)(protocol=tcp) (port = 1521)) (connect_data = (sid = finapp1t) (server = dedicated)))
  
  I started then clean the Agent on the server, but I get the same results.
  
  OEM seems to think that this FINAPP1T of the database always uses port 1521. I can connect to the database on port 1526 to my office so I know that the listener see this database.
  
  How can I say OEM update port?

• Password invalid agent trying to security officer

  Hi guys,.
  looking for help with a question im having trying to fix a 10.2.0.4 agent against 10g OEM.
  
  A bit of history, the agent ran successfully against an OEM server that is currently disabled. I edited the emd.properties file to point to the new server. I can start the agent ok, so far, so good. However, when I try to run "emctl sure agent" I get:
  
  Enter the password of the Agent:
  Agent stopped successfully. Fact.
  Fixing agent... Has begun.
  Requesting a download WHO HTTPS URL... Fact.
  Ask an Oracle Wallet and key to the Agent WHO... Failed.
  Impossible to contact the WHO to the HTTP ADDRESS in /ford/app/oracle/OracleHomes/agent10g/sysman/config/emd.properties
  
  The entry of im password works when connecting to dbsnmp in the database.
  
  The sysman/log/secure.log file contains the following:

  2. navigate to Configuration--> Agents
  3. click on the agent of the issue
  4. click the 'Agent' dropdown and choose "Resync" in the menu list.
  5. choose the option 'Agent to unlock through agent resynchronization.' and click on continue

  ++ If the problem persists, we re - install the agent.

  If you have additional questions, you can register a Service request with the support and get things clarified.

  I want to deploy agent oem in a box that has 3 DB (11.2.0.2) running on it. Can I install oem agent (11.1) if one of the DB has already sysman schema in there?
  
  I can not drop the repositry of DB... the reason being is when I run the command emca it get below error... it turns out that the oracle home is a symbolic link... and I have to drop the link and point to the physical reception and back on the DB... we have no time for this db... If I can install agent with sysman schema already in it?

  I started my Oracle database, as well as my Oracle HTTP server on my machine. I can connect to the Apex. But when I try to log in OEM (10g) it asks me to fill in host and database of credentials for the start. That's fine, but even if I correctly enter the host user name and password and also a sysdba for database access, I always get the following message is displayed:
  RemoteOperationException: ERROR: wrong password for the user
  
  I assure you that the password is correct because I have tried this about 20 times now. It's even more bizarre because I met this problem before on another system, and then when I filled the host and the database user name and password, I could connect normally OEM. However, this system keeps the RemoteOperatoinException!

• Best way to manage databases 8i and 9i?

  I'm looking for the best way to manage databases 8i, 9i, 10 g and 11 g with EM (of course, the upgrade from 8i databases is not an option). I installed SGD 12 c successfully, but the 12.1 agent does not connect to the 8i databases. What are the alternatives?
  -L'agent 10g can handle 8i, but he will be able to connect to 12.1 SGD?
  -If this does not work, I guess I need a SGC 12.1 for 9i, 10g and 11g databases and a 10g SGD for 8i databases. Is that a viable solution? Box 10g and 12.1 SGD coexists in the same environment?

  I'm afraid that you have understood.

  We will distinguish MONITORING that is done by the management agent (administration, maintenance, performance management etc) - which is made directly from the WHO.

  According to my experience:
  OEM 10 G is the latest version that can totally HANDLE 8i databases.
  OEM 11 G can MONITOR 8i (via an agent 10 G) databases, but cannot MANAGE them (or in other words, the 11 G SGD cannot connect to the 8i databases).
  OEM 12 c cannot CONTROL or MANAGE 8i databases.

  If you use OEM to manage your 8i databases (and intend to continue this way) I advised to retain a dedicated OEM 10G installation for the databases.
  There is no problem using 2 different installations of the WHO and several organizations choose to do for various reasons.
  The disadvantages are that you will need to duplicate your configurations OEM (patterns, rules etc.) and of course you will not be able to manage all the databases in a single console...

  If you use OEM to monitor 8i databases, you can create a set of parameters defined by the user that will run on a 9i database and connects to the 8i DB link databases.
  This solution is less than ideal, but it could eliminate the need to maintain another facility of SGD if all you need to watch the 8i databases.

  This feature has been valuable, but unfortunately has not been set up at EM12c.  If you want to access the Cloud control, once connected to the database, the best way is to click on the schema, database objects and then go to the correct data type to search for the object in question.  If you are looking for information on the object in the execution plan, then the best way to see it is via SQL Monitor if the process has not aged.  If it has, then use SQL statements search, (under the menu Performance/SQL for the database that you are connected) and then do a search for cache, CWA and other, you know you want to watch for the SQLID in question.
