  • Xfinity X 1 modem/router is compatible with the Airport Extreme? How it should be configured to maintain my wireless network?

I got a modem Comcast/Xfinity upgrade. Xfinity X 1 modem/router is compatible with the Airport Extreme? How it should be configured to maintain my wireless network?

Whenever you change the modem or modem/router on a network, AirPort Extreme will be reset to the default settings and then set it up again to work properly with the new modem. For this he would be...

Turn on AirPort Extreme for a few minutes... If it is not already turned on

Hold in the reset button on the back of the AirPort Extreme for 7-8 seconds, then release it.

Allow a minute for the AirPort Extreme restart to a slow, flashing amber light status

Make sure that an Ethernet cable connects to one of the four LAN <-->Ethernet ports on the modem/router on port WAN "O" on AirPort Extreme

To start the Setup program, click the WiFi icon at the top of the screen on your Mac and are looking for a list of the new AirPort base station

Just below that, click directly on the AirPort Extreme and then follow the prompts for configuration "Wizard".

When you configure AirPort Extreme once again, you can use the same wireless network name and the same password that you used with AirPort Extreme with the 'old' modem, if you wish, or use a new wireless network name and password

  • Airport Extreme 802. 11 b / g compatible mode does not work

Have a strange problem occurred recently on my home network. Here's what I have.

    (1) Macbook Pro retina 2014 running 10.9.5 (must be this older OS for DAW/music applications)

    (2) Macbook Pro 2009 10.11.1 running

    (3) airport Extreme Base Station of 2nd generation

    (4) Airport Express A1264 (1st gen N) compatible

    (5) iPhone 4 s. IOS9.2.1

    (6) iPad 2 8.4

    (7) modem Netgear cable connected to Comcast

I have my Airport Extreme Base Station 802.11n value (802. 11 b / g compatible) and the Airport Express to extend the wireless network. Appliances mentioned above connects to the Station Base or Airport Express, according to what it is without any problems, except for my Macbook Pro of the retina's nearest.

It was not used to be a problem for the retina to connect to the network, it used to work every time but for some reason any in the past months, it is almost impossible to get the retina to connect to the network. At this point, the Base Station is less than 10 feet away from the retina and has a direct line of sight to it but the only way I can get to connect is by organizing the retina upward in the air on a dark corner and hope that it connects. As soon as I put it down again, the connection disappears.

What is strange is however if I go to the utility Airport and change options on the Base Station to one of the other 3 options, only 802.11n wireless (2.4 ghz), compatible with 802. 11A or 802.11n only (5 ghz) and restart the retina connects very well. The problem is my iPhone will not see and network, so I can't leave on any of these other 3 options I need my phone connected to use Skype etc. (virtually no cellular reception where I live).

It is a hardware problem at the level of the retina, something to do with the wireless antenna, or is IT a case of I need more recent material from the Base Station, a newer model that has more options?

I tried following the instructions from another post here remove all the com.apple.airport.preferences.plist etc etc files in the Library/preferences/systemconfiguration folder on the retina and reboot in order to restore the plist files but it does nothing.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions that anyone has to offer.

What stands out in your description is your AirPort Extreme 2nd generation base station. The typical lifecycle of networking hardware is Apple products around 5 years are in this group. The 2nd generation extreme was released in 2007 and stopped in March 2009... so yours is at less than 7 years.

That said, I guess that your Extreme is to his "last breath" and I do not consider it to be reliable in the future. You're already thinking that maybe this is the reason, and I second that opinion. Maybe it's time to replace it instead of making any additional unnecessary troubleshooting.

  • My old Airport Extreme 802.11n will work well with my new Time Capsule 802.11ac airport?

I got a new 802.11ac 3 TB time capsule and I would use my Airport Extreme 802.11n as an Extender but I fear that 802.11n is too old technology.

No, it will be fine. I have the same setup on my network. Whenever I update my AirPort Extreme, I use the 'old' to expand the network throughout the House.

I hope that answers your question.

    Best regards

  • Extending Airport Extreme 802.11ac with older Airport Extreme 802.11n

I need to extend the coverage of my wifi and I have an a 802.11ac AE and two former, 802.11n AE units and all are still functional.  Specifically, can the newest Airport Extreme 802.11ac extended by an older Airport Extreme 802.11n if it is connected by ethernet cable?  If it can be done, what setting (bridge mode or extend the network mode) should be used on the 802.11ac model?  Any other need to know the tips would be greatly appreciated as well.  Thank you...

can the newest Airport Extreme 802.11ac be extended by an older Airport Extreme 802.11n if it is connected by ethernet cable?

Yes, it's can... goal that the wireless "ac" will not be extended, of course. Here, I assume you think 802.11ac airport your 'main' airport and airport 802.11n as the airport of their extension.

which parameter (bridge mode or extend the network mode) should be used on the 802.11ac model?

You would not change the settings on the 802.11ac airport

Reset an 802.11n AirPort Extreme back to factory default settings

Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the three ports on the airport of 802.11ac for WAN "O" from the airport on the AirPort Extreme 802.11n which extend the LAN network<-->

Configuration to use Apple "Assistant" to put in place the AirPort Extreme 802.11n and it will feature the correct Assembly for you.  Everything you really need to do is assign a name that you want to call the airport and "Wizard" will take care of everything else.

  • Airport Extreme 802.11ac - I have a defective router again?

    Dear Apple friends,

I reduced a problem with my Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router which I hope someone can shed some light on.

    Things I've tried:

    • Hard reset
    • Factory full reset w. of new settings.
    • Two different Apple ID (account iCloud)
    • Connection via the devices iOS (iPhone and iPad, both on v9.3.4)
    • 7.7.3 downgrade (problem).
    • New upgrade to 7.7.7 (problem).

    That is the problem.

If I put a ID for 'Back to my Mac' Apple Airport utility > basic Station... updated and restart the router...

.. .the router will not appear in Airport utility again unless I connect to it directly via IP.

A Wi - Fi connection works fine but I cannot access the airport, or whatever it be connected until I have remove the back to my Mac (Apple ID) of Airport utility references.

This router is a replacement from the Apple Store for a faulty Airport Extreme 802.11ac, who died after a few months.

Any suggestion would be appreciated. I think again that router to Apple, but before you make the trek down there, I would be a little sure that this isn't just a bug or a problem on the end of Apple.

    Thank you, in advance.

No, you don't do anything wrong. This problem has been reported several times recently and the only 'solution' at this stage is to disable Back to My Mac on your AirPort base station, until Apple has a chance to solve this problem.

  • Airport Extreme doesn't let me change the wifi password

While in the airport utility, I try to change my wifi password and I get "error when updating the configuration."

There is also no list of what devices are connected to the wifi.

And it lists the serial number...

All these things were there yesterday, no downloads or updates between yesterday and today.  Full cycle restarts were made.

The Setup is Cox as ISP, my modem (Arris Surfboard SB6183), AirPort Extreme 5th gen.

    MBP mid 2015, 10.10.5

It seems that Cox is currently implementing a number of changes to their service having to do with IPv6 at the present time.  Cox users who have Apple routers have problems as a result of this, and... if we are using the correct information... Cox is telling users that airports are not compatible with the changes that have been made.  Here is an example of message that we saw today:

Change default delegated prefix IPv6 in Airport Extreme with the Configuration automatic IPv6

Cox suggests to reboot the router when a problem arises... that helps for some users, but not all.

    or

Disable IPv6 on the router from the airport... What is not possible. Even if it were, Apple uses IPv6 settings to enable communication with other Apple devices on the network. You can disconnect IPv6 to the WAN port on the airport by changing parameters IPv6 link Local Only... that Cox makes no mention of.

Now the possible Catch 22.  You must be able to enter the parameters of the AirPort Extreme to change the link Local only... and if you can not access the settings on the airport... things will be difficult.

You are able to open AirPort Utility, click on the image of the AirPort Extreme and then click on change to display the settings... page with tabs for different areas... or... you get an error message until you can get the settings?

  • Do a factory reset on my AirPort Extreme 802.11n resets my country code?

Do a factory reset on my AirPort Extreme 802.11n resets my country code?

Wireless Diagnostics warns on codes of countries in conflict.

I ve got an AirPort Express 802.11n and an AirPort Extreme 802.11n

The country code of the Airport Express is ok, but Airport Extreme shows me different options.

    Any suggestions?

    Please

A factory default reset will set the area code of the AirPort Extreme back to the initial setting that it was when it was new, but this should not be necessary because you can change the country setting without having to perform a factory default reset.

You can see the options available for your AirPort Extreme by opening AirPort Utility, by clicking on the image of the AirPort Extreme, and then click Edit in the window that appears.

Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the window, and then click Wireless Options near the bottom of the window. Click on the country selection box to see the options available for your AirPort Extreme country.

Apple is doing to "regionalize" airport routers, so, for example, that if you bought the AirPort Extreme in the AirPort Express to the United States and Europe, the country on the extreme options will only show of European countries, so that the country on the version options American Express shows countries in the Western hemisphere.

  • 16.0.2 Firefox is not compatible with the zone alarm Forcefield AGAIN. Please, help users with that. No current positions

Before I updated to the current version, I checked for "reserves" and found nothing to indicate that the Zone Alarm Extreme Security, ForceField was not compatible with the Version 16.0.2. If I had known that I would not have updated. Y at - it no use for those of us who have this problem. ? The only post I noticed on this problem is 'closed' and dated about 8 months ago.

Thanks for the reply, the old Fox!

I agree with you 100%. This occurred without fault to each new update of Firefox.

I wish that Firefox had warned users of the incompatibility issues with ZA ForceField, as they have done with other problems before users downloading the latest version of Firefox.

Thank you also for the link to the "release notes", which I didn't have before. It is a help in the future.

    Warm greetings,

  • Cannot connect new wireless J4680 to Airport Extreme 802.11n

    1. I first tried hold as usual several times.  The installation wizard is not 'see' my wireless.  Tried to reset wireless from the camera, without result.

2 follow the steps as shown in the video 'YouTube' of HP.  Was once able to proceed to the point to get at least a "Page of Network Configuration" report printed which indicates success in adjustment in "ad hoc" on its network "hpsetup" mode, but then can not pass the airport network in infrastructure mode, input on the webpage of embedded devices.  (But now I know at least IP address theJ4680.)

    3. usually not found "hpsetup" automatically listed as a network on the airport.  Can sometimes become there by configuring manually via the J4680.  But this method will not always work.

    4. based on a different view (a person using Windows, Fios), tried to temp - disable my security at airports (a WPA2 Personal), but who have no positive effect.

5 J4680.  Airport Extreme 802.11.  Mac OS 10.5.6.  No firewall that might interfere.  My MacBook is the only device on my Airport network.

What else should I try?  Thanks in advance for any other tips/techniques that y ' All can provide.

It works! It works! It works!

Basically, I had to wait for the weekend to go home, so when I did, decided to just approach it all completely 'clean ':

    1. uninstalled the J4680 driver-->

2 do you have a factory reset on the Airport Express-->

    3. configured reset Airport Express-->

4 reinstalled the J4680 driver, using one that I had downloaded earlier (instead of the Conference on Disarmament) to make sure that I got the version the most recent-->

5 turned on/turned off everything (to reset): MacBook, modem, router, printer-->

    6. then simply followed the implementation of HP guests-->

It works! It works! It works!

Thanks for your help and to hang in there, Jim.  (... A little anticlimatic.)

  • Is - this RAM is compatible with the IdeaPad Z575?

Yesterday afternoon, I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Z575 for $499.00 from this link: [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246328 [url]

Obviously, it didn't come in the mail again. I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in the laptop. It comes with 6 GB of RAM, a 4 GB stick, and a 2 GB key. The problem is, I don't really know what kind of RAM is in the computer. I'm looking to replace the 2 GB key with a second stick of 4 GB.

Uses the type of the laptop RAM is ddr3 1333 mhz pc3-10600, without parity, capable channel, 2 dimm 204 sockets so pin RAM.

My question is whether or not this RAM is compatible with the laptop: [url]http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3T4G3-US/dp/B00591ZYX8 [url]

In addition, if there is a better option for the RAM for this laptop, I would like to know.

Yes this ram works. also, if you ever want to check compatibility you should visit crucial.com is an excellent reference on several memory upgrades.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus: is the Officejet Pro 8600 wireless compatible with the new standard AC dual routers.

ISP is the Modem upgrade to DOCSIS 3.0 model. My current router, Linksis E 3200 is not fully compatible with the new modem, I have to upgrade to a model of AC Smart WiFi dual band.

The wireless in this 8600 printer is compatible with the standard AC. If this is not the case, can it be upgraded via download to make the wireless compatible. Top of my head I have think.

The wireless connection in the Officejet Pro 8600 is compatible with 802.11n connection on the 2.4 Ghz band.  Check your new router (or candidates for a new router), most routers AC will be also in charge of N connections.

Why did you start a new post? Post again only after only 8 minutes accomplished nothing.

There is no general problem going to EL Capitan on your Mac.

    Some applications may require updating.

Some devices like printer may require the updated drivers. For some readers of devices not being updated are available.

This is the Office Mac Pro forum. I asked that your post be moved to the El Capitanforum or another appropriate forum.

Open airport utility... Click EI... and see what the cause of the problem. It will give the list of questions on the summary page. Click on each of them and he will offer you even solutions.

for example the firmware needs to be updated... nothing major... or DNS is wrong or double NAT...

Without our crystal ball, we do not know what is the issue.
