AirPort Extreme URL to change settings

What is the URL, for example, for the extreme router.circa 2011-2012 192.168.1.xxx?

I can change the settings of my ATT router using 192.168.1.254... In addition, its code of the device...

Why not the extreme router hy?

AIrport utility is sorely lacking to offer this fine tuning tool...

no way to find the best way to 5 GHz,... hard to do much of anything...

What is the URL, for example, for the extreme router.circa 2011-2012 192.168.1.xxx?

There is none. It does not exist.

Can change the settings on my ATT router using 192.168.1.254... In addition, its code of the device...

Why not the extreme router hy?

Because Apple does not use an utility for URL in function for the administration of the router.

Instead, Apple uses the AirPort, an application that is built into the Mac OS utility. There is also an app for iPhone and iPad that allows users to administer airports.  According to the model of the airport you want to administer, it may be possible to use the AirPort for Windows utility, if you have a PC.

  • The settings DHCP Airport extreme & NAT - cannot change default of NAT IPs?

    Hello

I'm trying to configure Airport extreme, the most convenient to use for our office.

    Our Office IP is 10.255.x.x

When I'm trying to Setup DHCP and NAT, in NAT options, there is only 10.0.x.x, 172.16.x.x and 192.168.x.x

How can I get NAT to have 10.255.x.x?

Without the NAT settings, I can not get this Airport Extreme to assign valid IP addresses and so unnecessary

Sorry, but Apple will only accept the 10.0.x.x addresses to be assigned by the AirPort Extreme.

  • Device not found Airport Extreme

We have an airport extreme connected generation via Ethernet to a switch that provides network access to our entire House (about 10-15 connections) via wifi access points all Ethernet hard wired (linksys + apple) and a direct wire to a PC. Airport extreme is the dhcp and is connected to a gpon fiber using PPPoE.

The problem now is that the AirPort Extreme disappears from the airport on iOS Mac utility and Windows, it is found however the network and the Internet continues to operate normally on all connected devices. I can also continue ping on the router.

I have reset the AirPort Extreme to the default settings, but the problem continued...

I tried to unplug all devices and have AirPort Extreme only connected to him have the fiber but the problem persists...

no idea how I can fix this problem?

You describe a known problem with Back to My Mac which first appeared around July 13. The problem manifests itself in a message "Device not found" meant to be displayed in triangular AirPort your AirPort base station with a yellow icon utility, while the router of the device functions others continue to work normally.

If you use an airport Time Capsule, backups will not work using that device or USB hard drive units connected to it.

Apple will only be able to solve this problem, so all you can do is wait for them to do. If you want to contact them to tell them about it, using the contact Support link.

There is a solution: on a Mac, open AirPort Utility and select file > configure other...

For each of your routers Apple AirPort Base Stations serving their respective networks: its IP address and password (if you don't know either of them, read the Note that follows the horizontal rule below). Then, on the tab of the Basic Station , delete all the entries in the Back to My Mac using the 'negative' button, then click on Update.

Which must be re-established appearance of this base station in AirPort Utility, as well as in a side bar of the Finder, if all shared disks are plugged on. It will also restore possibility of Time Machine to save on these discs, if this has also been a problem for you.

If this seems to imply that you will not be able to use Back to My Mac until Apple fixes it, you are probably right. Well to diagnose problems of the CCMM is tedious work that I have not yet finished.

Apple does not participate on this site except in a very limited way, so don't expect is not a response from them, here or elsewhere for that matter. We'll just have to wait for them to fix it.

  • 2nd airport Extreme not found in Airport utility

I recently replaced an Airport Extreme 6 years with a new one. The former we worked, but the range of its signal seems to have declined, so we replaced.

Now the news is up and running without problem. And I would take the old and use it to extend our network. We already have an Airport Express Terminal to expand the network, so this would add another node.

I moved to its new location and plugged the power cord. It shows the yellow flashing light. However, the old Airport Extreme does not appear in Airport utility. Screenshot attached. There is nothing in the section other devices Wi - Fi.

ZeroOne_nomap-2 is my new base station. AirPort Express of Sunny was already part of the network. The old base station does not appear.

    Any ideas?

You must reset the 2nd Gen AirPort Extreme back to default settings, before it can be put in place to expand the network.

Temporarily, to locate the 2nd Gen airport near the new AirPort Extreme

Turn on the 2nd Gen airport a few minutes

Then hold down the reset button on the back of the airport for 5 to 6 seconds then release

Allow a minute for the airport restart to a slow, flashing amber light status

Now click the WiFi icon at the top of your Mac.

Look for an announcement of the new AirPort base station

Click on AirPort Extreme, just below this list

Who will get the "Wizard" configuration running. It will take a few seconds to display a screen that looks like this, except that you can see your devices and the network name.

Type a name you want to call the 2nd Gen airport

    Click next

The wizard will set up everything for you. When you see an installation message, click done

Now, turn off the power and pass the 2nd Gen to its new location where it can receive a strong signal from the AiPort Extreme 'hand' and turn on the 2nd Gen airport

  • AirPort Extreme and Virgin super hub

    Hello

I have a new hub great vm that I put in place in modem only mode and then using my AirPort Extreme of 2nd generation as the wireless router. Is there a reason why I would see lower broadband speeds like that implemented just vs using the super hub in router mode full. I get very fast BB with just the hub acting as the wireless router but it drops by half or even more with my extreme up to game. The problem is that the hub has the power of the terrible wireless signal? I was wondering if it's because of my extreme 2nd generation? Or perhaps a setting that is incorrect.

    appreciate any advice.

    Thank you

    PHil

A 2nd generation AirPort Extreme is at less than 7 years and that almost 9 depending on where you purchased the product. On average, the useful lifetime of a router designed for domestic use is... average... about 5 years.

You can reset the AirPort Extreme back to default settings and then set ip all over again, but frankly, I doubt that this will result in a significant improvement. Let us know your results if you decide to try it.

If you decide to try a new router, AirPort, Apple offers a 14-day return privilege, so if one new product is not the way you want, you can return it for Exchange or refund.

  • Airport for Time Machine utility settings / Airport Extreme network

I just added a new Airport Extreme to my former Network Time Capsule, to extend my Wi - Fi. I have read many posts and checked different websites, but I'm just getting more and more confused.

My internet DSL cable is connected to the Airport Extreme and then 2 ethernet cables both time Capsule and my Imac G5. What would my network settings in Airport utility to the Airport Extreme and time for a better return Capsule?

How can I find out if the two grow Wi - Fi?

I just added a new Airport Extreme to my network of Time Capsule prior to extend my Wi - Fi

I think we got it... and we understand. This tells us that you have added an AirPort Extreme to the core network to ensure the widest coverage Time Capsule wireless.

My internet DSL cable is connected to the Airport Extreme and then 2 ethernet cables both time Capsule and my Imac G5.

No, unfortunately, we do not have it.  This tells us that your AirPort Extreme is the main router and that you have added a time Capsule to provide wider coverage wireless for the AirPort Extreme network.

Sorry, but we are confused. Which of your statements above is correct?

AirPort Extreme extends to the Time Capsule network, or have you changed your network so that the Capsule extends the AirPort Extreme network?

Could you please provide the serial number and the model of your DSL modem?

What operating system you use on your Mac or PC?  If you have a Mac and you are not sure what operating system you have, click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click on about this Mac.  Please post returns with the OS X Version you see here.

  • Airport Extreme doesn't let me change the wifi password

While in the airport utility, I try to change my wifi password and I get "error when updating the configuration."

There is also no list of what devices are connected to the wifi.

And it lists the serial number...

All these things were there yesterday, no downloads or updates between yesterday and today.  Full cycle restarts were made.

The Setup is Cox as ISP, my modem (Arris Surfboard SB6183), AirPort Extreme 5th gen.

    MBP mid 2015, 10.10.5

It seems that Cox is currently implementing a number of changes to their service having to do with IPv6 at the present time.  Cox users who have Apple routers have problems as a result of this, and... if we are using the correct information... Cox is telling users that airports are not compatible with the changes that have been made.  Here is an example of message that we saw today:

Change default delegated prefix IPv6 in Airport Extreme with the Configuration automatic IPv6

Cox suggests to reboot the router when a problem arises... that helps for some users, but not all.

    or

Disable IPv6 on the router from the airport... What is not possible. Even if it were, Apple uses IPv6 settings to enable communication with other Apple devices on the network. You can disconnect IPv6 to the WAN port on the airport by changing parameters IPv6 link Local Only... that Cox makes no mention of.

Now the possible Catch 22.  You must be able to enter the parameters of the AirPort Extreme to change the link Local only... and if you can not access the settings on the airport... things will be difficult.

You are able to open AirPort Utility, click on the image of the AirPort Extreme and then click on change to display the settings... page with tabs for different areas... or... you get an error message until you can get the settings?

  • How to change where the Airport Extreme think that there is

I moved house about 6 weeks ago, but whenever I am connected to my current-model Airport Extreme wifi, my devices think they are still at the old House.  How can I make the AE update when it is actually located?

There is no change, you can do it... He will be eventually updated on apple servers... but it can be slow.

  • Airport Extreme connected to TIVO: why I can not change Type firewall for IPv4.  Field displays IPv6 and is grayed out so I can't change.

TIVO requires certain ports to be unblocked.  So I try to add the ports requiring TIVO.  But when you try to add the default Type of firewall IPv6 Port Mapping ports and I can't change the value of the IPv4 Port Mapping because the input field is grayed out and no is not accessible.  With Port IPv6 mapping I enter values in all areas except for the IPv6 address because I do not know what value to enter.  I think the button 'save' ' is not available to hit because the IPv6 address field is empty or not valid.  Note: my router Mode is ' Off (Bridge Mode).  Same questions if my router DHCP Mode.

I changed my router Mode DHCP and NAT, then on the Type of firewall on the default page add ports, IPv4 Port Mapping and I could add ports but with this setting, I couldn't connect to internet in my Airport Extreme: my status remains orange light flashing.

I use Comcast and my Airport Extreme is connected to my Comcast router using ethernet.

I use my Airport Extreme as a router (wired and WIRELESS) and as a backup device.

My TIVO is connected to my Airport Extreme using ethernet.

How can I add the Ports requiring TIVO.

Golden in the networking rule. ....... Never try to configure port mapping when you have two devices on the same network the two acting as a router.

Unfortunately, this is exactly what you're trying to do.

    You have three options:

    (1) run the Comcast router "as what" and configure the port on the device of Comcast mapping... .the airPort Extreme must be configured in Bridge Mode when you do this.

    (2) lance to the AirPort Extreme router Mode of DHCP and NAT and configure the ports on the airport map... the peripheral Comcast must be configured to operate as a simple modem in Bridge Mode when you do this.

    (3) lance to the AirPort Extreme router Mode of DHCP and NAT and configure the ports on the airport map... swap Comcast modem/router you have now for a simple modem (it will have only a single Ethernet port).

In other words, either the Comcast is defined as the router and AirPort Extreme is in Bridge Mode... or... the AiPort Extreme is configured as a router and Comcast must be configured in Bridge Mode.

If you choose Option 1, then we can not help you on a matter of Comcast router. In bridged Mode, the AirPort Extreme requires no configuration.

If you choose Option 2 or Option 3, then we the following port values that the Tivo device needs:

    Public or UDP ports

    Public TCP

    UDP private

    Private TCP

In addition, you need to find the MAC address for the TIVO.  It is a long code that looks something like this, for example:

    A1: B2: C3: D4: E5: F6

A link to the Tivo instructions for port mapping would also be very useful.  I have done this with a TIVO in the past, but is for some years.

If all goes well, an expert of TIVO will post to lend a hand.

  • How will I know if my Airport Extreme has the latest firmware?  And (not related) how to change the password used to connect to my network?

I think I bought the latest version of Airport Extreme.  It is the unit which is rectangular, is about 6 to 7 w., etc.  I have some basic questions that I do not understand:

    1. How will I know if I have the latest firmware for this device?  I read a few posts that make it sound as if it was just automatically updates.  Is this true?

    2. can someone tell me how to change the password used to connect to my wireless network?

    Thank you very much!

    Chris

If a firmware update is available, AirPort Extreme flashes orange.

The most up-to-date version of the firmware is 7.7.3.

You can see what version you currently have the following on your Mac...

Open Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility

Click on the image of the AirPort Extreme

    Look for the Version

If the new firmware was available, you will see a button update here

To change the wireless network password...

Click on edit in the window smaller than you watched just to check the firmware version

Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the next window

Go back / change the wireless password and enter a new password

Do the same thing to check

Click Update at the bottom right of the window and give the airport a minute full for restart

  • provider changed vague Qwest and now one device connects to the net.  Seems to not be recognizing the airport extreme.  Patches?

Decided to change providers.  Network domestic fine fixed by extreme airport which has been consulted by 9 apple devices and windows device.  After the wave was installed yesterday, the only device able to connect is the cell that was active at the time of installation.  Is this a problem with my airport extreme or vague does not not with mac?  All the patches would be appreciated.

After the wave was installed yesterday, the only device able to connect is the cell that was active at the time of installation.

Sounds like Installer connected your laptop directly to a modem to put in place the new connection.  If that's what happened, then the modem will recognize your laptop, but it will not recognize the AirPort Extreme, then it will appear as if only your laptop can get a connection.

The modem and AirPort Extreme should probably be reset and then set it up again. We'll know more soon.

Can you provide the number of brand and model of the modem that was shipped with your service?

What operating system uses the laptop?

  • How can I change the physical address associated with my Airport Extreme

I moved, but when I look for devices by using find my iPhone devices connected to my Airport Extreme base station seem to be at my old location. How to upgrade the physical address associated with the Airport base station?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way for the user to do. Finally, the database of Apple will update. There is some anecdotal evidence of that having an iPhone connect to airport speeds the process.

  • Need settings for LAN only on Airport Extreme

I'm trying to set up a local network on my old Airport Extreme (no tour) without required internet access in my camper. My devices see the name AE, but does not connect. I use an iPad or an Iphone to view pictures and videos on an HDTV through my 2nd generation AppleTV. The unit has worked with these devices on my home network until I replaced it with a new Airport Extreme gerneration car a couple of weeks then I oould use the older one in the motor home.

What device you are trying to use to set up the old AirPort Extreme?  We assume that you have the 'flat' or 'square' version, correct?

A Mac running one operating system version current or recent will be easier to use, but an iPhone or iPad with AirPort Utility installed on the device could work.

Depending on what you have, you need to be patient with this, because Apple's software does not do what you want to do.

  • Airport Extreme - static IP configuration question

Question: AT & T has us on a range of public static IP address xx.xx.xxx.33 - 38 (six addresses). I already put in place with the gateway, subnet. But I need the Airport Extreme to provide more than just 6 addresses to support all of our devices. Is this possible and if yes, how I have set up?

Attempted solutions: I tried to expand the DHCP range manually in the settings of the utility. I changed it to 10.0.214.33 - 38 (which was the default range) to 10.0.214.30 - 39 to see if this helped more devices, but she did not.

Help, please! Our business leaders are coming and I need to have this resolved.

    Thank you

The key is that Apple routers are designed for general public use. They don't have many options when it comes to commercial applications. You better get a router that provides these additional features. I recommend that you consider the research in routers of professional level provided by Cisco (or similar) for this purpose.

None of the available options, provided by AirPort Extreme, will be able to satisfy your needs network entirely.

For example, you can use the network > router Mode to 'DHCP' option only This would use a public ISP IP addresses for the base station and to distribute the five for customers... other required network, but you will not be able to use this setting to distribute IP addresses private network customers remaining, as this option disables the service NAT on the base station.

Will on the other hand, using the NAT and DHCP option would take care to provide for the remaining machines, private addresses but allow only one device is accessible with a public IP address by placing the appliance in a DMZ. Apple calls this a "default host".

  • Apple Airport Extreme and new FIOS router - problem

Hello, I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11n base station, which worked well with a Comcast router.  When you set up with Comcast router, I set the router to comcast to bridge and the Airport Extreme has done all the work as the main router. When I switched to Verizon FIOS today, I get the typical mistake of NAT double (that I did with the Comcast before configuring the router to Comcast to bridge).  However, the tech support guy FIOS said that was not an option, so he set up my Airport Extreme in bridge - router off mode mode.  This really live to the top incoming access using SSH, Timbuktu or the Apple screen sharing, given that I can't assign fixed IP addresses to the computers on my network and can not use the Airport Utility Network Port settings to open "pipes" for a particular computer.  In addition, I'm more comfortable using Airport Extreme, rather than things FIOS. Someone at - it other than enter Comcast suggestions?

I did a search and didn't see a post on this in the discussion forum.  Thank you
