Aks whenever Firefox be the standard browser - although it is already established

Since the last update for windows firefox 8.1 ask every time to be the standard browser. In the windows settings (standard programs), it is already established as such. But in the Firefox settings (General provisions), it is shown constantly to be non-standard.

You can disable the application by going to menu > Preferences > general, then uncheck the box that says always check to see if firefox is the default browser. I would also try that in fact the default browser from here, see if that helps.

  • xdg-open does not take into account the url and opens the different website when Firefox is the default browser in Ubuntu

    I am running Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit with Firefox version 38 for Ubuntu
    It is complected, and I tried to explain everything clearly.

    Today, I noticed a strange behavior.
    I have several URL saved as .desktop files.

    I use webupd8.org as example.
    The code for the exec in the desktop file is:
    Code:

    Exec=xdg-open http://www.webupd8.org/

    Today, I noticed that if I try to go to webupd8.org, or most of the other sites, by launching the .desktop file for this site, or by typing the url
    Code:

    http://www.WebUpd8.org/

    in the dashboard Firefox opens to a completely different site. The site that opens is a site that I set up for my children's grandparents to watch videos and see photos of the children. This Web site opens each time. I'm not be directed to a site at random each time. This is the case when I try to visit the webupd8.org OR one of several websites using .desktop file or enter the url you want in the dashboard. Whenever I went to my own domain.

    It happens that I have also several sites registered in a reminder in the Firefox icon in the Launcher sidebar thing in Ubuntu.
    In the case of the beast, the exec code is slightly different and it still responds as it should. In this case, I have:
    Code:

    Exec = firefox-new-tab http://www.webupd8.org/

    Also, if I change my default in opera browser, for example as .desktop files and entering the url directly in the dashboard work as it should.

    To recap:

    When Firefox is the default browser, enter a url in the dashboard or use a to surf to a desired site .desktop file causes my be redirected to my own domain name (which is hosted remotely and not on this computer).

    If, however, I change the Exec command in the .desktop file
    Code:

    Exec=xdg-open <url>

    TO
    Code:

    Exec = firefox-new-tab < url >

    the .desktop file will open Firefox and go to the desired site.

    If I change the browser by default Firefox to another browser, everything works as it should and has always so far. That is, with the Opera for example, both
    Code:

    Exec=xdg-open <url>

    and
    Code:

    Exec = firefox-new-tab < url >

    result in the browser by opening and going on the planned site. Typed a url in the dashboard is not a problem if the default browser is not Firefox.

    Anyone seen this before? If so, how to solve it?

    Thank you very much for your answers!
    I checked the url of the home page in Firefox and it has been set at startpage.com, but then when I looked at the default programs in Ubuntu, I noticed that the default program for the web had been unintentionally configured to use a .desktop file that leads to t he admin for my Web site login page.

    I changed this back to Firefox and the problem was solved.

  • Hi I want to add beta6 22.0 firefox to the standard iso windows8 so that it installs as I installed windows8, how can I do this?

    I want such a solution whare he asks me why when I installed windows8 with firefox

    Unfortunately I have no experience with batch files either, so I can't really judge if everything is configured correctly.

    what it shows, the firefox.bat Setup file is not necessary (just leave it), because the installation is already triggered (silently) in your commands.cmd installation of mozilla. you do not need to rename the Setup program, it is discussed properly in the latter file. just put it in the same folder as other files...

    What is missing, is the setting firefox as the default browser on the system. That is why the command

    "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -setDefaultBrowser

    should be added at the end of the script.

  • Please provide to Nokia. I Lumia 920, but it came with the wrong browser. Mozilla firefox is the best browser!

    If you could also provide browser Nokia lumia windows 8. my phone is nokia lumia 920. I'm sure it's easy for you. Thank you very much. Firefox is the best browser ever!

    We cannot build a complete Firefox due to the lack of a native SDK for Windows Phone. That most of the additional tasks would allow Mozilla compile sources of Firefox for Windows Phone devices.

  • Why links will not open an e-mail if Firefox is the default browser

    I still have this problem and now it's starting to affect the functionality of browsers and ease of use. When Firefox is my default browser, any link outside of Firefox (as in my e-mail address) will not be open that becomes a nuisance. I am running Windows 7, which can be the cause of the problem through a setting but I can't find the needle in a haystack, or it may occur to an update of Firefox. Firefox is my favorite and only since Netscape 1.0 browser, but if I can't solve this problem I'll have to switch to another which I really don't want to do. Help!

    Tip: If you're feeling adventurous, try downloading FireFox 13.0.1 from:

    FTP://FTP.osuosl.org/pub/mozilla.org/Firefox/releases/13.0.1/Win32/en-us/

    This site is an official mirror of Mozilla and has the GpG signature file in the folder with the executable file.

    I had to go back to 13.0.1 to get my links to open correctly.

  • 12 Firefox became the slowest browser for the loading of web pages. Is there a solution?

    I've been using Firefox as my default browser for years. However, beginning with FF11 and continues with FF12, it became so slow to load web pages that it has become practically unusable. IE, Opera, and Chrome are all must faster. If someone knows a solution, I'd love to hear about it.

    I live in rural Texas and it is true that my ISP is not the fastest 'high speed' in the world - 1, 5 - 2.0mbps, but other browsers can handle this OK. No Firefox.

    I tried to disable ALL add and extensions. I got FF up to bare bones - without tab, no whistles or bells - and yet it's very slow. I've already replaced my router - no help. I tried to empty the memory cache, settings, same run the «Speed Up My Firefox» software Nothing seems to help.

    It is clearly a problem of Firefox. I'd like to go back to Firefox, but I don't have the patience to wait while he takes his own load time of web pages.

    Any ideas?

    Tom

    I edited this post to remove some questionable information and keep only what I know works for me.

    The setting network.http.keep - alive false seems to provide the greatest improvement, but I think that setting network.http... Max-connections to 64 maybe helped a little in my case, since I have a slow connection 'broadband '.

    I also reinstalled FF12 with these changes, and the problem seems to be resolved.

    For now, this seems to have solved my problems. If things start going downhill, I will return.

    Thank you all for all the help and suggestions.

  • How can I make Firefox (9) the default browser for Android (2.3.4) on a Motorola Bionic (5.5.893.XT875)?

    Several suggestions online (for example, through the Manage Applications-All-Browser, or the settings of Firefox) have not worked. Browser 'faults clear"is grayed out, probably because there is no set of default values, and I've yet to find how to put everything. Firefox has no button 'Settings' and 'Website Options' or 'Préférences' means making FF by default. Whenever I click on a link, FF appears as an option, however, and it works fine.

    You need get the Actions dialogue box to appear and check the use as default action at the bottom of the list. One of the common ways for this to appear is to follow a link to a program of e-mail or a social network like Facebook or Twitter application.

  • Firefox is the only browser, removing many photos of my blog messages

    My blog at least once on almost every day. At least a picture is almost always included. In the last two weeks or so, photos have been removed on Firefox, but not on Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, many posts ago. Some positions have been two days; others were months old. I reinstalled the latest version of Mozilla Firefox, this week, without apparent result. I can't afford to have a lot of my blog messages displayed without photos on one as popular as Firefox browser. I have PC using Windows.

  • Hello. I have a site that display many audio outputs using the &lt; audio &gt; HTML5 tag. Firefox is the only browser that fails to show all audio files on the Web page.

    It shows only the first audio file. All other browsers show all audio files...?

    The file is played for me, so it is possible that you need to re-code the ogg files to make them compatible with Firefox.

    I can play with MPlayer and VLC on Linux, but not with the audio player in Firefox.

  • If Firefox is the default browser, the links in the body of return Windows Live Mail errors that Windows does not find the URL. Links work very well if I set IE as default browser. (I use Firefox 10.0.2)

    The details are in issue

    Are you clicking on the links in an external program?

    Try:

  • Firefox is the default value. Whenever I click on a selection of browser to URL is displayed.

    I've defined and confirmed that Firefox is my default browser. I uninstalled Firefox, restarted, set Edge as default, rebooted, reinstalled Firefox using the option 'Make Firefox the default browser' and rebooted. No matter what the settings are made and Firefox is default, when I click on a URL link, I get a dialog box "How do you want to open this file", Firefox is highlighted, I click on the check box always 'use this app' and click OK. Firefox opens and displays the page. Thereafter, whenever I click on a URL link I get the pop up and choose Firefox. It doesn't matter if a Firefox session is active or Firefox is closed. What I am doing wrong?

    This was a problem when you try to set one browser by default other than IE (now Edge) on Windows. Firefox has had the most problems over the years, trying to get himself defined as default browser. I can't tell if Chrome has had the same problem either. But I feel that they have had a hard time with her also.

    In the interest to see what works and what does not work, could you not install the Chrome browser and by setting the default value to see if it does indeed remain the browser by default when you click on any url? Please test the links of the opening a few times before you say that it works without problem.

    I'll be tracking of any workaround to set Firefox as the default browser in the meantime. But, be aware that Microsoft is the enemy here. As they do on board the default browser at any price.
