• VISA does not open COM port

  Hello, I made a simple VI which gets data from the PC com port.

  It works well on my desktop but today for the first time I ran it on my new laptop and it does not show the COM port. I see the COM port in Device Manager, but it does not appear in the drop-down list in my VI. Can someone please? I have attached my VI.

  You use a labview 2013? I had a similar problem and I had to install NI-VISA so that it displays. Not sure if you have installed that, but if not, then that should solve your problem.

• Resource VISA does not list options

  I have a .VI which works very well on my computer windows 7. When I move the arduino on my computer windows 8, the VISA resource for the icon of init Arduino does not recognize the COM ports. This option is refresh. It shows on my devices like Arduino Uno (COM5), but not seen on the control or the constant.   I don't think that this is a specific problem of the Arduino. Any ideas or suggestions?   Thank you.

  I encounter an error with a VISA reading.  I ask 8 bytes (in number of bytes), but get only 7 return (return number), which causes errors in my code downstream.  Curiously, the VISA Read block does not return an error.  Any ideas on how to debug this?

  Is VISA reading set to put an end to the reception of a termination character?  I think that it does not have the stop in the output string character, which could make your short back counter.

• BlackBerry smartphone email sent to the alias address does not appear on BB

  I have a University e-mail address ([email protected]) that works very well with my Blackberry. I also have an alias name in the same University ([email protected]) - a different format for the name of the address and the domain name, but its an alias on the same Exchange Server. Electronic mail addressed to me at the address alias does not to the Blackberry, but appears on the University e-mail reader. I'm unable to set up the e-mail address alias name in the Blackberry because the University server does not recognize the name of the alias as a login ID is valid.
  Someone else has had this same problem and fixed it? Thank you. DW

  Problem solved.  Simply deleted and recreated the email account on Blackberry.  Duh - should have done this before I posted...

  You can try things:

  1 clear the DNS cache: http://osxdaily.com/2015/11/16/howto-flush-dns-cache-os-x-elcap/

  2. check the hosts file: cast Terminal, located in/Applications/Utilities/and type the following command (followed by enter): sudo nano/private/etc/hosts

  You will be asked your password, but that's OK. Copy and paste the result in a reply to this topic. Subsequently, you can quit Terminal (Type ctrl-X first).

• Hosts alias file does not

  I have a few Windows XP machines I support who will enter a State where will not solve the aliases defined in the hosts file. I don't have a DNS configured for these machines. They use the file hosts exclusively for name resolution.

  For example, for this line in the hosts file:
  a.b.c.d abc def
  -abc ping works
  -def ping does not work
  The problem seems to be fixed by a reboot of the machine.
  I tried: repair network connections, reset the battery TCP/IP, DNS, restart/stop the service Client DNS cache emptying and none of them will get the hosts file works. Running ipconfig/displaydns does not seem to match what is in the hosts file.
  Also, I tried to manually edit the hosts file and add a dummy entry:
  127.0.0.2 a b c and d
  and I am able to ping a, b, c and d. I also tried copy and paste into the entries twice, and those who will be working.
  My questions are:
  -How this machine would probably get in this State where it may seem to analyze the hosts file, but not all aliases defined?
  -What process or service analyzes the hosts file? Is it something I can reset in order to get the hosts file to work without a reboot?

  It turns out that my client has been on these machines, make a change to the hosts file to remove an invalid character for an entry. And in the process managed to reproduce the entire contents of the hosts file. This hosts file 'double' seems to work from time to time, but at some point, aliases do not work. Probably something is running out of memory or something like that.

  When I go back to the previous hosts file everything seems to work properly.

  I found something similar on the Microsoft KnowledgeBase (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927391), but according to the Windows Vista boot, all the proposed solutions require the installation of Vista media and I have just the recovery CD Toshiba base.

  When I try to boot my Toshiba Recovery CD, if I select "English (Windows Vista)" in the menu and go to the settings, the only selectable option is a scroll bar to choose what size I want to partition - for the option "Expert Mode: retrieves WinRE and the OS for the readers of the FIRST installation of TOSHIBA without affecting additional data disc" is grayed out.

  All I can do with the Toshiba Recovery CD is format the drive and lose all my data.

  I have a USB enclosure external that I put the disc in, and I have an XP machine that I can plug it in, then might be able to backup the drive but really the best option would be a way to fix rather than formatting.

  Does anyone have suggestions on how this can be repaired without the CD of Installation of Vista? Thanks in advance :)

  The Toshiba Recovery disk is not the same as the Microsoft Vista disc!
  Recovery disk contains an image that will not be able to repair your computer.

  The error message indicates that the Boot Manager is damaged or it s damage and you will need to boot from the ORIGINAL Microsoft vista DVD to repair it.

  If you don t have such a MS Vista DVD then I n t see chances to repair the operating system.
  So in this case, you need to reinstall the OS using the recovery disk.

  By the way; What happens if you press F8, immediately after the laptop has been started?

  I tried to configure the instrument cards in a chassis SMU, and I'm unable to get a VISA to recognize.  Reading some other posts related to names of resources VISA, I found that you should be able to drag and drop devices Max NOR in a Labview diagram, and it will automatically create a resource VISA for device control.  I am able to do that the name for the devices installed on "My System" (COM1 for example), but when I try to do 'Remote system', a few drops in a block of text.  If I try to create a resource VISA directly control, the drop down menu displays only the devices on my system.  I even tried to change the VISA category for the control.  Still not get visa to recognize the remote devices.  Please notify.

  I wrote an application that uses VISA, mainly GPIB resources.  in any case, my laptop has labview 8.5 installed on it.  When I run the app on my phone, it uses the GPIB fine, compiled or not compiled.  When I take the compiled application on my desktop which has run labVIEW files installed on it, the VISA resources are not even detected (nothing appears in the drop-down list control) in the application, but I can see them in MAX that is installed on the desktop computer.  Any suggestions?

  Finally, I'll be back around him and the VISA drivers were not installed. This me baffled because in the latest versions of LabView, as 6.0, screws requiring some drivers (like writing serial port) were not available unless the associated drivers have been installed. Perhaps this philosophy has changed in more recent versions. In any case, thanks for your help

  When I set the baud rate using the VISA's Interactive Control Panel for a serial port specific (ASRL) and then close the window for ASRL, baud rate goes back to the default value.  Why doesn't baud rate?

  Also when I change the port settings for a particular serial port (COM) on the side of Windows, why can't I see these same port settings when I look at them from the interactive panel of VISA?

  Also, when I set by programming the output baud rate for a particular ASRL (code C), why is it reset by default when I re - run my program and do a get on baud rate?

  Some information:

  My C program works on an industrial PC which has a PXI MXI connected to it expansion chassis.  Series 3 cards in the expansion chassis.

  When you close the VISA session and/or close your application, port settings in the system default values.  It is a very normal behavior.  As long as you keep your open VISA session, the port will behave how you already told (set Baud Rate, etc.).

  I have a swf file that loads external SWF files, he worked for more than a year, now it's broken, I have tried so many things to solve this problem with still no luck. in Firefox, it loads the main scenario, but not the 2nd movie. In Safari, it doesn't load even the swf timeline (activity monitor says no, I can't find anywhere, any information on what that means) it still works perfectly in opera and IE 8/7, these are things I've tried:

  created in flash 8, now in CS3 (flash 9) exported in the form of 8 & tried 9 with AS2

  solved: somehow when I added protections to re - write for hot linking also block it was blocking serving the SWF files to the movies, I deleted the swf to the mod rewrite in htaccess for my main directory file and the specific Web site and now it works in all browsers/operating systems, darn it took me weeks to solve!
