Alienware M14x crashes hard drive

I have a m14x and I just froze. I restarted, but then I got a message saying no bootable device detected. I ran the windows repair option by pressing F12 and it does not load. I takes me just restart and give me the same message. No bootable device detected. Now when I open the menu by pressing F2 it says there are 2 bootable devices. CD/DVD and network. It does not list the hard drive. When I installed my recovery disk to restore the original image it that to install a HD with a less than 2 GB of memory. So what is a hard drive failure, or can it be something else?

Well, I ran the black in my XPS M1530 and seen on innprovment of 15% in ADO time ect... more stock Seagate... It's a quick drive, I know that the Seagate XT hybrid is another nice drive but I have no experience with it since it has embedded ssd cache

  • Are there any tools to remove emails in doubles (that I had to restore a crashed hard drive)?

    I recently had a hard drive crash and was able to have all data restored on a new external hard drive.

    With the Thunderbird Community's help. I've restored all of my emails also. However, it seems that I may have restored some of then 2 or 3 times. Is there any way to automatically delete duplicates?

    Win 7 Pro 64 bit, Thunderbird 24.3.0.

    Interesting. I have loaded 2 different modules, and each has worked about 2 or 3 times and then stopped, although I can see there are still duplicates. Oh, well, I can do the rest manually (up to 1000 to 5000), but this has been a great help. Thank you all.

    Hi all

    I have a Toshiba P10-304 and its going a bit mental fact lately.

    I am running XP Pro and basically it started crashing frequently and then later he came up with the error: media test failure, check, etc.. So, I thought that the hard drive was dead. Since then, I bought a new hard drive (seagate momentus) and formatted correctly and worked fine for 2 days. But now the 3rd day, he began to display similar symptoms like my old toshiba oem drive. It tends to crash frequently, the continuous drive to make a horrible noise even with the system delayed broke down. It also for the first time displayed the same messages error 'media test failure...' but then started restarted fine, but only to the failure to new about 5 minutes later.

    Ive just finished College and do a bit of web design and its really annoying me so I would appreciate any help.

  • Crashed hard drive file recovery

    Hello

    I am pulling data from a hard drive crash (Windows XP works badly to the point that MS support could not fix).  I had a pretty basic install, Office, iTunes, some other applications.

    Other than Outlook PST files, are there other data file important figure in areas not in My Documents?  I found the music and documents, but am concerned about other programs that store data in the areas of Documents.  Is Outlook the only program that does this?

  • Options of data recovery for crashed HARD drive

    My friend HARD drive gone bad. She has not saved. She has her thesis on it (any resemblance to characters from the fictional movie, living or dead, is coincidentalt. "It's true).

    I know there are options to recover the data. But I'm not familiar with all of them and how much they cost.

    One of her friends which is a network administrator, and continued his studies of masters in computer security will attempt to recover the data for it. I fear that it may just try to boot from a CD and try to read the data, which can worsen the damage.

    What other options does have?

    Thank you

    If it crashed, she may need data recovery specialists.

    These are some $$$.

    You can read this:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
    Download the Vista software from the link above.
    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
    See you soon.
  • crashed hard drive... need help with original windows 7 Home premium 64-bit on new h.d.
    a win 7 64bits h.p... a h.d. failure... installed a new h.d. which had vista (sp2) h.p. on and I want my windows 7 back... is there anyway to give the product I.D. is on the side of my Tower for the microsoft 7 windows that has crashed and I would like to download a copy on the new hard drive? IM wondering if I need a proof of ownership or what anyone like that I bought from a friend's computer and its probably not in my name... I was wondering if this is a problem major and if theres nothing I can do... maybe download a new copy and just enter the product ID I don't know... IM really not too tech saavy... any help would be greatly appreciated... Thank you
    So what you want to do is put windows 7 to replace windows vista on your new hard drive?
    Step 1: Download the ISO file.
    You will need a cache of DVD or a USB flash drive (3 GB or better), if you insert a DVD, then it will ask you if you want to use it with a DVD player or a usb flash drive. Check the box to a DVD player or something similar to this. With a flash drive, you don't have to worry about setting up or anything.
    Download the ISO of windows 7 Home premium 64-bit.
    Be patient as it can take an hour to download on a medium speed wifi connection.
    Step 2: Burn the disk image to a DVD
    Now that you will burn the ISO on DVD once it's done. To do than go to where ever you downloaded the ISO on your computer and right-click on the ISO file. Now click on burn the disk image.
    Make sure your DVD is inserted. When asked what disc burner, select the drive that you inserted the DVD in. If you have only 1 DVD player you should have only 1 option. Now hit burn and go get coffee or something while you wait.
    Burn the image on a USB flash drive
    But if you don't have a DVD, you can always use a USB flash drive.
    You need to download Universal USB install
    Now open universal USB install and it will ask you to choose a Linux distro. Keep scrolling down until you find "software based on other or non-linux".
    Select windows 7 Setup from there. Now step 2 hit browse and find where you downloaded the ISO image. Now, select your USB flash drive letter. It takes only 1 option. And click on create. And when it asks you if you want to format? Click Yes.
    DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR FLASH DRIVE PROBABLY ALL THAT FILES WILL BE DELETED IN THIS PROCESS
    Step 3: Boot from your DVD or USB
    Restart your computer, and while it loads the bios, it must be said somewhere boot options. And there will be a F1, F2, F3, or some F key to enter the boot options.
    After that, select the USB flash drive or a DVD drive to start. You will get to the windows installation and you can install windows 7.
    It will ask you your product key. It is in any way illegal.
  • dv6308nr crashed hard drive
    I have a laptop HP DV6308nr. My hard drive has crashed and I need to replace. I would like to upgrade with a hard drive 7200 RPM 250-320gig in there, but I'm not sure which drive connect to my laptop. If not, can you suggest what will work in my laptop. I currently have a Fujitsu mhw2120bh inside.
    Please help. "
    Yes put in the drive of new, pop in the recovery disk (probably a DVD) and let it run. You will need to do a ton of updates after that, but you have a working system. Vista SP1 and SP2 are essential. I guess you have Vista and you want to focus on two things to make it work better. Run this program as soon as you get Vista
    Cleaning program removes unwanted and other programs
    and then do this
    Top 10 Vista Tweaks
    You can ignore the tweak on the Readyboost (#5) but others are excellent and if you apply all 9 of them you will have a much faster system.
  • Crashed hard drive and must be replaced
    I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-204NR, which is not quite 2 years old. The hard drive broke down. I would first like to know if you can tell me if this laptop is 32-bit or 64-bit, and which drive hard ability then I replace the damaged with? I don't know what is needed to replace the hard drive. This laptop came with Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1. Thank you. Linda
    Normally, I would ask you if you are running 32 or 64 bit, but according to your specifications you are running 2 GB of RAM, which would indicate that it is 32-bit. It takes at least 3 GB of RAM to run 64-bit.
    You can use almost all SATA 2.5-inch drive in it. The largest capacity as 1 terabyte or more are too thick and doesn't work.
    I'd go for at least 500 GB drive at 7200 RPM / min. Seagate is a nice hybrid drive that is fast enough and is still affordable.
    http://www.Seagate.com/www/en-us/products/laptops/laptop-HDD/
    Install the new drive and use your HP recovery DVD to reinstall your operating system.
    Do you know how to replace a hard drive?
