All backup preferences

Is it possible to backup all my preferences, and files, all my applications at once?

I have an account through work. I like to keep my saved settings so that I can take with me if I ever elsewhere.

Thank you!

On Mac, this most commonly seems to be caused by Spigot or pipe modules, or something else that snuck in without being detected with other software that you downloaded.

Please try to disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CMD + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete). Especially if you find something called SearchMe.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

I have LR 5.7.1.  Every month or two when I l open Lightroom, a screen I have to re - enter my serial number, little as I have to buy an upgrade.  When this happens and LR opens, all my preferences for export, what info appears on the pictures, etc. disappeared.  I guess they gave to the standard ones.  What happens and is it possible to prevent this?  It takes awhile to reset everything.  In the past, I forgot some items, getting to files sent to the printer, saved in low quality, ruining several impressions.

Can someone please, please help me?  I posted this question before with no responses.

    Thank you

    Bill

I read your post again, and the question is different from that in the link I provided. If I understand correctly, you can use LR with specific changes to your preferences settings & and they 'stick' for a few months. At some point LR you request your serial number tenant and appear to be recovering its default preferences file.

The most likely cause of this question connects to Windows after a system Shut Down with a different user account name. I tried with my connection to the guest account in Windows 7 and the first thing I see at the launch of LR is the entry to record screen and serial number Adobe. Make sure you use the same Windows login accountt when working in LR and this issue must stop.

N ° you have lost all your backups.

A device third-party network attached storage (NAS) or a router is unsuitable for use with Time Machine, especially if it's your only backup. I know that's not what you want to hear. I know that Time Machine accepts the device as a backup destination. I know that the manufacturer says the device will work with Time Machine, and I also know that it usually seems to work. Except when you are trying to restore and find that you can't.

Apple has published a specification for network devices that works with Time Machine. No third party provider, AFAIK, does meet this specification. They all use the application of "Netatalk" incomplete, obsolete Apple Filing Protocol.

Apple does not endorse any device third-party network for use with Time Machine. See this support article.

Network backup, use as destination an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or a 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only 802.11ac base stations support time Machine, not older model.

Otherwise, use Time Machine at all. There are other ways to save, although none of them are nowhere near as effective or as well integrated with OS X. I don't have a specific recommendation.

If you are determined to continue to use the device with Time Machine, your only remedy for any resulting problem is the manufacturer (who will blame Apple, neither you nor anyone else but herself.)

  • Move all backups and iTunes library to external storage

    Hi all

My MBP internal SSD is full so I want to move all the data from iTunes to external storage.

I found how to move the library which was pretty easy.

How can I move my backup files to iPad and iPhone? It seems to be more difficult to achieve.

    Thanks in advance

    JJ

    Not difficult, read here:

Manage and backup your iTunes media library - Apple Support

    Two things to remember:

the first time you open iTunes after move your library: hold down the ALT (option) and iTunes point to where you put the library on the external drive. iTunes will remember that.

When you want to use iTunes to make sure that this disk is attached.

  • Time machine backup preferences app?

    Hi all

I just went through a new installation of Mac OS x on my iMac and even especially well happened, I saved all my files and cloud storage helps a lot make a major gesture as an OS reinstall these days, but the only thing I didn't return my application preferences, defined as I had them. I mean, for example, I use Logic Pro X, and only the app has a ton of settings I had to redo memory; In addition, the preferences system is another example.

So, in that spirit, I thought I would start using Time Machine, not only for the safety of my files, but also to be able to restore my machine more quickly next time.

My question is, Time Machine backs up each application settings so I can restore if ever I need to do a fresh install of OS again? And also, if I restore the operating system on Time Machine, it will restore all applications in the system, or what I have to manually install all?

    Thank you very much!

    Rui

    Hello

Yes it will restore everything as if nothing no was (sounds like a clone of your mac copy):

My question is, Time Machine backs up each application settings so I can restore if ever I need to do a fresh install of OS again? And also, if I restore the operating system on Time Machine, it will restore all applications in the system, or what I have to manually install all?

(There are ways to copy the preferences of the application from one mac to another if you know how to get there, but its usually more hassle than anything either.) (ngs-to-one-another-mac http://lifehacker.com/5652685/how-can-i-move-single-applications-and-their-setti)

  • My family in Windows XP system restore is disabled by group policy. The system cannot me to enalbe this function, despite I have a partition of my hard drive to store all backup

When I open the System Properties dialog box, System Restore is checked, saying: she is disabled by group policy, and the system you cannot activate this option. I got a partition dedicated to my justo of hard disk to store backups and create Points of restoration with a capacity of 10 GB. How can I solve this problem?

If you see things like this:

You do not have sufficient security privileges to restore your system.
The System Restore tab is missing from the my computer properties.
System Restore has been disabled by group policy.  To turn on system restore, contact your domain administrator.
The System Restore tab is available, but the turn off System Restore (disabled by Group Policy) box is grayed out.
The task manager has been disabled by your system administrator.
The registry editor has been disabled by your system administrator.
The task manager has been disabled by group policy.
The registry editor has been disabled by group policy.
The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator.  Press a key to continue...
The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.  Please contact your system administrator.
The "Run" option is missing from the start menu.
The option "Log off."... ' is missing from the Start Menu.

The usual advice are something in the sense of "something has been disabled in the group policy...". ", and it is probably true that something has been disabled, but you know what something is and what it takes to do about it.

If you are using XP Home Edition, you will get away with advice to use the Group Policy Editor, because there is no Group Policy Editor in XP Home and that really doesn't tell you where to look in group policy, even if you run the Group Policy Editor.

You need a complete solution that works for all versions of XP and requires no hunting around in the Group Policy Editor or registry to find where things are that have been disabled.

Unless you have disabled these things on purpose, chances are good that your system has a malware infection.  The malware knows what tools you use to try to find and remove, for the malware disables the things you are more likely to consume and prevents them from running if you can't find the malware and remove it.

If your system has this kind of affliction, all malicious software tools you currently use or have used failed to protect your system so that you can expand your horizons malware detection and prevention to prevent these kinds of afflictions in the first place.

The malware will be happy you trick into thinking that you need to so something drastic to fix your system - as a facility repair, system restore point or a total reinstallation of XP.  This is what it would be like you, but these measures are not necessary.

You must solve the immediate problem of the tools does not, then scan your system for malware when you are finished.

No matter what kind of malware you've used analytical tools, they are unlikely to solve this problem, because they cannot tell if the changes made to your system have been on purpose (you or an administrator who makes them) or some malware changed them, so the analysis tools will let these things alone (it's usually a good thing).

If your system is afflicted in this way, there are probably other things that also do not work - like the Task Manager, the registry, System Restore and command prompt Editor, so fix them all at once even if you have not discovered they are broken again.

These commands from registry removes the registry entries that are stop opening programs.  Although the registry entries do not exist, these commands are safe to run and will work for all versions of XP.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

Open Notepad to create a new text file:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

Save the new text file with extension .reg on your desktop or somewhere you can remember with a name you can remember, something like:

    enableit.reg

After you save the file, close Notepad.

Locate the file enableit.reg on your desktop and double-click it.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the enableit.reg file, choose open with... and select the registry editor.

Answer in the affirmative to the question... Are you sure you want to add the information in the registry?

You should then see a message that information has been registered in the register.

    Reboot your system and test.

You can delete the enableit.reg file when you are finished.

If the registry editor has also been disabled, we first fix (not a problem).

Given that your system has or has had an infection, follow up with this:
Perform scans for malware, and then fix any problems:
Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

  • How can I locate the folder where my backup files are stored on my internal hard drive? I want to delete all backup files

operating system is windows vista laptop.

I went into system restore settings and couldn't find how to locate my saved files. I think they take a LOT of space, I deleted all other unused files and I have more than 6 GB of free space out of 67 concert. Help, please? I don't know much about computers at all.

    Hello

Follow the method of deleting a file of older backup using sub steps and check later if the problem persists.

    (a) open backup and restore by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and Maintenanceand then clicking backup and restore.

    (b) click on Manage space. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (c) to delete older backups of files under that data backup file, click on view backups.

You can then select the backups of files that you want to delete, which will free up disk space. Remove an entry in the list will not affect the other backups. If you think that you don't need one version of your files from a certain backup period, you can delete that backup. We recommend that you always keep the most recent backup.

  • 2015 CC lost all my preferences and settings - what to do?

After you install applications 2015, I was appalled to discover that the new Premiere Pro does not have one of the following conditions inherit my version of 2014:

    * App preferences

    * Keyboard shortcuts

    * Custom for effects bins

    * Custom export settings (presets)

    * Personalized workspace layouts

I tried "sync settings" (download settings from the creative clouds) twice and nothing has changed. Yes, I store my settings in creative cloud and has previously downloaded successfully under CC 2014.

My machine is a Mac with Mac OS X 10.9.5 Tower.

All I can do to save my settings? I don't want to have to recreate everything!

It is a HUGE disappointment, Adobe!

Thanks for the tip. I thought about it, fortunately.

The old settings are stored in

    Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/8.0/Profile-CreativeCloud-

(There is also a folder called 'Profile-[myusername]' but it does not contain my settings).

So I deleted the useless file

    Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/9.0/Profile-CreativeCloud-

and copied that of 8.0 in its place. Taking back my preferences, keyboard shortcuts, working space and the effect garbage!

In addition, I found myself also copy

    [Encoder/8.0/[myAdobeID documents/Adobe/Adobe Media]

    in

    Documents/Adobe/Adobe Media Encoder/9.0/

It's just ridiculous that I had to find it myself. Considering that Adobe explicitly had boasted in their announcement that the old preferences and settings will be transferred automatically!

  • I do keep all backup files?

My pictures/Lightroom/Backup folder has HUNDREDS of files, from a few years ago... do I have to keep all these (there are 109 as soon as 2013, 99 from 2014, etc...)? They use a bit of hard drive real estate (each of the most recent backup files has a lrcat about 400 MB file)... I tend to go up when I close each session of LR... it would make sense to just keep a few recent versions? Thank you!
