  For the moment, I would say that you do not upgrade unless you REALLY need the functionality that gives to the later version. SSL on View 5.1 is greatly improved, but on the Vshphere side its still a nightmare. If you do not need to upgrade I plan carefully or get help from someone who has done it before (for example, a consulting firm).

  In response to your question, you can go directly to 5.1 a of 5.0 and I build a fresh environment and migrate rather than upgrade. SSL is easier on a new construction on upgrades. (Make sure you have your certificates signed in place before installing)

  My advice

  build an esxi host (ESXi510-201210001 or later version)

  Installation simple installation VCenter. (First check the dimensions of your environment)

  Configure Vcenter

  build remaining ESXi hosts

  Install 1 connection to the server

  Configure the display

  Build remaining connection servers

  Migrate pictures old environment gold

  build pools

  Personally, I've moved a few customers to 5.1 and I always think it's a challenge.

  Please follow the steps in the Upgrade Guide. They are fairly easy to follow.

  In short:

  1. upgrade the view connection server components

  2 upgrade View Composer

  3. improving the environment vSpehere

  4. upgrade the tools VMware and virtual hardware on all the virtual machines in parent, virtual machine
  models and virtual computers that host server view as the view connection server components
  instances.

  4. upgrade the components view Agent and his Client.

  Document your settings will be a good idea, so that your can recreate the problems them as appropriate.

  In the case of Linked Clone pools, agent on image upgraded Gold and recompose your pool with this picture gold.

  KB 1022140 can be useful for you to move from ESX4.0 to ESX4.1

  KB 1027095 could contribute to a certain extent.

• Running for some time, firefox 'hangs' every 7 seconds 3 seconds, typing, scrolling, navigate... all functions to follow the cycle of 7 seconds break. Why?

  Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.

  You will need to restart Firefox before this takes effect so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

  Then perform the following steps:

  1. Click the menu button

     

     then select the Options under Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux.

  2. Select the Advanced Panel, then on the general tab.
  3. Uncheck the use hardware acceleration when available.
  4. Restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

  I see - you have access to the service through Adobe Reader. Have you tried the web interface (https://cloud.acrobat.com)? The error you describe was reported with the most recent version of the player, and it has been reported to engineering. If you are still having difficulties to access your subscription via the player, please try the web interface. You should not have problems to connect it.

  Welcome to the Forums - there is no way to upgrade to move form ESX to ESXi because basically they are the same product, the difference is the way they are managed - ESX has the Service Console for manangement and ESXi you manage directly through the vmkernel - there going to the ot to be fresh install.
