  My database is currently set to allow duplicates of names None. Now I want to enable it. (Its a planning application 9.3.1).
  
  What are the impacts by doing this. Duplicates the data members of the store? Or are they like Shared members?

  I do not recommend it. turn on the names of the members duplicate makes it much more difficult to load the data that you qualify the names of the members with their parent. It can also make more ugly retreivals have you qualify the members. This isn't as a member shared in some way, it stores data at each location (different amounts).

I donot remember I activated the option "Allow duplicate names" at that time. Now I need to find this information without any test on the way.

  Open the outline in EAS and look at the Properties tab, it will show "Double names allowed members" - true or false

  I'm fairly new to Essbase. And this must be a very stupid question for someone with a little experience. But I desperately need help!
  
  I'm trying to set a variable temporaty in calc script. But it does not allow me to give a value to this variable. Here's what I did:
  
  VAR DB = "Key_Assumptions"->"amortization periods;
  
  He said "the constant [Key_Assumptions-> amortization periods] assigned to the variable [pd] is not a number."

  Still on the list as a limitation in 11.1.2.4, and I don't know of a workaround. You will need to come up with an alternative format.... you could make the member name alias followed by something in parentheses (for example).

• Member name change - replace in all security filters

  Hi people,

  We have a system of planning right now that we use to build a cube ASO (by ODI). Users now want to rename a member in the planning.

  However, I have several security on the ASO cube filters which mention this member name name in the filter list. Is there an easy way to replace this name in all of the filters?

  PS: I did not write the original filters so do not have their orders create. I'm looking for alternatives such as LCM. However, I wanted to check if there is an easier way out.

  You can make LCM and filters are extracted in the form of files. Write a script of the BONE to replace the name of the Member. Or even open in Notepad ++ and replace all occurrences in the open documents.

  If looking MaxL route, I have an EXCEL macro that retrieves the filter from the server, then you can use it to generate the creation of MaxL script. Essbase filters export the server, and then re-create ~ Oracle - Hyperion Labs...

• SmartView-setting 'Member Name and Description' with HFM

  Hi all

  We have EMP 11.1.2.3.500 environment with planning, Essbase, HFM installed products. We use the latest Smart View version 11.1.2.5.215/216.

  When you try to retrieve data for HFM using this version of SmartView I don't get member name and aliases in the report even if I check the option name of Member and Description in settings Smart View Member, we were using an older version of SmartView 11.1.1.3 that could retrieve the names of the members with HFM 11.1.1.3 description inside.

  When I try the same thing for Essbase and planning 11.1.2.3 I get the alias in another column (which is not similar to v11.1.1.3) so it's working for Essbase and planning.

  HFM does support the SmartView parameter Member Name and Description /Description?

  
  

  Is there no workaround solution to achieve this because we have more than a hundred of the SmartView already integrated in the previous version and it won't work for us to only have member names in the reports.

  If you look briefly into the ref of technology so you can find @SUBSTRING (String StartPosition [, EndPosition])

  StartPosition

  Beginning at the character position in a string to be included in the substring. An integer greater than or equal to 0, where 0 is the first character in the string, 1 corresponds to the second character and so forth.

  Final position

  As an option. An integer greater than or equal to 1, where 1 corresponds to the first character in the string, 2 corresponds to the second character and so forth. If the end position is not specified or is less than StartPosition, Essbase returns all other characters in the source string. Note that this is a different numbering scheme that uses the starting position.

  Now, I hope you have a good naming convention.

  A planning cube, I'm working on that returns the validation formula errors & I am struggling to understand why. A test, I created a member with this simple formula:
  
  IF (@ISLEV("Employees",0))
  * 1 ; *
  
  ON THE OTHER
  * 0 ; *
  
  ENDIF
  
  When I validate the formula in planning, I * "compilation error formula for [] (line 1): unknown member ["employees"] into [@ISLEV] function name." However, the "employees" are the name of a dimension in my cube.
  
  When I post the same formula in the Regional service console, it validates successfully.
  
  If I change 'Employees' to 'Entities', whose name from another dimension, the valid formula successfully in planning.
  
  Despite the error message, the formula does not produce the results you want - but it's annoying to have the validation error reported whenever I update planning to Essbase.
  
  Can anyone suggest why planning does not accept the "employees" as a member name valid?
  
  I use version 9.3.1.1.9 of the planning.

  Sounds to me like your formula is attached to a member who is in several types of plan and plan of one of these types does not contain the dimension of 'employees '.

• Can't see the ESSBASE application...

  We are able to see the ESSBASE application in the directory ESSBASE_HOME/app, but the applications are not online and are not visible in the Regional/AAS service console.   If it was something that was restored from a backup when you have deleted the original (or restored from another system) application, it's pretty easy to let him appear in ARE. Just a right-click on applications and select Create a new application. Give it the same name and the type of database (ASO or OSB) than the original. When Essbase sees the application directory, it will just add the application security, it will not overwrite what is located in the directory.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Right-click on computer and click on manage.
  3. Click local users and groups, click users.
  4. Right-click on the user account and click on delete.

  I have a report that contains relatives in lines that are set to stretch and show Member aliases. During the expansion under the parent I would like to display the member name and Member Alias. I tried conditional formatting to replace the Alias members using a text function, but replace only accepts text, not functions. Does anyone know how to do this?

  Do you need to in the same column? If this isn't the case, you could pull in another column of the alias and use conditional formatting to hide either or depending on the generation.

  I created an Essbase application in EAS web console (URL is : http://application-tier server: port/easconsole). How can I register it at the service of the brightness. The paper said that it is should done automatically, but I can't find it in the shared service. Do you have any ideas about this? I use EMP 11.1.2.3 and the server operating system is 64-bit Win2008.   The problem is resolved after add "AuthenticationModule CSS" in the file EPM_instance\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver\bin\Essbase.cfg file.
