allowing standard users to software update

I recently changed my settings of the computer to have a separate administrator account and my usual account has been changed to the standard, but now I can't update all software (Adobe, Java, etc.) as a standard user.  Is - this here in any way that I can allow a standard user be allowed to do?  I know that having an admin account is to protect against unofficial downloads etc but this becomes a real pain in the neck, and I'm very tempted to return users standards admins.

In Windows 7, the standard accounts are not allowed to install the software. Since UAC prevents the installation of unauthorized software, you could safely restore administrator privileges on your account every day.

I am currently using windows vista ultimate 64-bit with an installed nvidia geforce 8800 gtx card. I'm the ADM on the machine, with the standards users who connect it. My account of adm does not have the problem. I'm trying to find a way to allow standard users on the machine to have the ability to change the ppp settings.

The path of the file is C:\Windows\System32\DpiScaling.exe

I tried to use the solution listed on this site: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/window-on-windows/?p=635

and used the Application Compatibility Toolkit.  I used a lot of different options, the 32-bit version, 64-bit, different boxes, without success. When you click right on the file properties and click on the Compatibility tab, it says:
Cannot be set on this program compatibility modes because it is part of the Windows version.

I have a standard users also granted full control of the executable, and if the logged-on user account, he got always invited him to enter the administrator credentials. I understand that this only gives the user access to the file and not what the file does.

I need to find a solution to allow standard users on the computer to change the DPI settings without the need of the admin password.  While looking for solutions here and on the site of regular microsoft (support.microsoft.com) support, all I could find are methods that disable the guests of UAC elevation and ways to disable UAC completely.    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7security/thread/0364515a-301e-47C5-AF99-39347b83c6b4-je don't want to do that.  I even tried and the standard user has always invited to enter an admin password.  I don't want to disable UAC or the guests of elevation, surprisingly these guests don't mind.   The computer is set to high resolution and need to continually change the DPI setting to enable the second monitor (my HDTV) text output in a format that is clear and correct.  The reason why we have change back is because the cursor of the mouse in the PC video games being played here on disappears when the DPI is set to what higher than normal / default. So before any game is played, the DPI settings in windows settings must be changed to the default / normal.

Since I was the user only administrator on the machine, I am concerned when other users would like to play their games. but can not, because I am not present.  I want to be the only Admin account on the machine.  Bad things tend to happen when I allow other users are administrators on the machine.

  • How to allow standard users to install and run games?

I want to enable a standard to install and run games and such user account but I keep getting guests for an admin password, I tried to disable UAC, but I'm now just get guests who say that the administrator can install only. I would like to be able to do this without having to turn off UAC.

You must have administrator rights to install anything, period.  Trying to allow standard users just did, it's as if we were trying to be a little bit pregnant. :-)

  • How to set controls on my computer to allow standard users to not impersonate a user administrator? I just want to be able to have 1 administrative user.

I tried to sent a parental controls for my minor daughter not to go to some Web sites, but she had figured out how to change his user account and the administrator account. How can I stop this?

I moved your post on the forums of Windows security.

Basically, you need to make sure that other users of the PC have their protected accounts password and the PC is locked or users disconnected if one of them is administrative users. If she has access to your password or the password of an account with admin rights, it can change its own permissions.

  • Allow a program to run in Standard user

    Hi all

I have a problem, as stated above.

I have currently the program has installed in an administrator account and I would like another user who is a Standard user in the computer to use the program without entering the administrator password to run the program.

    Is it possible?

Reinstall program to make it available to all users "work" but perhaps you only want certain users to be able to run the program.

You can use the command runas with the "savecred" option to create a shortcut to the program - you must enter the credentials of the administrator at least once for Windows to Save Credpickers and then you would set but there is a possibility of the user can understand it and then be able to run any program as administrator.

Here are some examples of how to implement that:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/124087/how-to-create-a-shortcut-that-lets-a-standard-user-run-an-application-as-administrator/

    https://www.maketecheasier.com/standard-users-run-program-Admin-rights/

You may reach the goal without "savecred" using a task scheduled to run the desired program:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/11949-elevated-program-shortcut-without-UAC-prompt-create.html

There are some third-party programs that you can use if you want to install (not tested):

    http://www.Sordum.org/8727/runastool-v1-0/

If you do a Google search on something like:

allow standard users to run as Administrator without password

You will get a lot of ideas but the sounds of the awkward set of ideas.

It looks like a some of them present a potential security risk if the user no Admin numbers how it's done.

  • Portege R830, Win7 64 - Fingerprint Software update fails at startup

After the Fingerprint software version 2.0.06409 update as recommended by Toshiba TEMPRO, a system message appears to stop and start: "TFPU LogonUI.exe Entry Point not found. The entry point of procedure... not found in the TFPUCommand.dll dynamic link library.

The system cannot use connection of fingerprints. After logging in using the name and password of a standard user, the software itself runs correctly, by contacting the fingerprint sensor.

    Worked fine just before update.

    Hello

Have you tried to reinstall this software of fingerprint?

Firstly uninstall the fingerprint tool preinstalled.
Clean the registry (for example, by using a 3rd party software CCleaner) and restart the laptop.
Download the utility of fingerprinting of driver Toshiba UE page and install the software.
Reboot the laptop once more and test functionality.

  • Allow a standard user to install software designated as updates of Adobe reader with group policy

    Hello

I have the users configured as standard users to prevent them from installing unapproved software.

This causes problems with products such as java and adobe reader running automatic updates.  We then get cranky users because they are prompted to install the update and approval from the administrator.

Is it possible with group policy to allow pre-approved software to install as update of adobe reader?

    Thank you

  • How to configure Windows to allow the parameters and software downloads to appear in system and standard user administrator?

I HAD TO REINSTALL WINDOWS VISTA (SERVICE PACK 2) DUE TO A TROJAN HORSE THAT ATTACKED MY SYSTEM. I USED THE SUPPLIED RECOVERY DISCS SET WITH MY COMPUTER BECAUSE THE SOFTWARE HAS BEEN PRE-LOADED AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED SOFTWARE FACTORY. WHEN I WAS SETTING UP USER ACCOUNTS, I CREATED THE ACCOUNT TO ADMINISTRATOR (WITH PASSWORD) AND A STANDARD USER ACCOUNT. WHEN I CHANGE THE SETTINGS IN MY COMPUTER IN EACH ACCOUNT, IT DOES NOT APPEAR THERE EITHER ACCOUNT. I DO CHANGES IN PARAMETERS OF EACH ACCOUNT INDIVIDUALLY. CAN I SET UP SO THAT WHEN I CHANGE THE SETTINGS, IT WILL DO THAT IN THE TWO ACCOUNTS? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

original title; HOW TO CONFIGURE WINDOWS TO ALLOW THE SETTINGS AND SOFTWARE DOWNLOADS APPEAR IN ADMIN SYSTEM AND STANDARD USER?

Most PC manufacturers who don't give you the disks give you a partition on your hard drive that contains the images of the disks so that you can burn yourself.  You should check out.

When you say "change settings in both accounts' exactly what are the parameters what do you mean?  It is normal that many Windows settings to be on a per user basis.  For example. the desktop background is a 'definition' which is completely independent for each user.  You cannot set up a wallpaper for a user and hope that it displays desktop of another user.

  • Allow administrative users to update applications

I have several new computers running Win7 Pro using the CAD and the standard name of user/login prompt.  Users run in standard user with no administrative privileges accounts.  Users get pop ups of various applications that want to run updates to day, but when the user selects the he is prompted for an administrative password.  Of course, they cannot continue.  The two main offenders are currently Java and adobe Acrobat.  Is there a way to allow administrative users to run software updates to the machine?

I tried to add users to the power users group, but that did not help.

My current idea is to create an admin user and set it so that the user can not connect interactively, but can be used to authenticate the update.

You can't do that. If find you a hack to allow them to you have given the same level of access as an administrator and undermined all chances to avoid to install malicious software or dirt otherwise upward from their computers. If they can install the software in ProgramFiles or % of windows that they own the computer.

Instead, set up an automated system to deploy software and updates. System Center Configuration Manager is probably overkill for your network, but there are several affordable tools of the 3 parties who could help with deployment and maintain applications. • The new silent update works with Standard user accounts?

For security reasons, I use a standard windows instead of one admin user account.

I actually initially stopped using firefox and switched to chrome because it refused to auto-update when logged in as a standard user.

I hear that Firefox now has a silent update like Chrome.

This silent update allows to auto-update when you use a standard account of Firefox?

Obviously I can't switch back to Firefox completely unless the update feature works with standard accounts

not yet unfortunately. You can keep an eye on the bug mentioned in the wiki of mozilla to see when the State becomes fixed...

  • software installed as that user admin does not work when logged in as standard user

Running a desktop computer dell with XP SP3 home edition with no possibility of wifi

Bought the USB adapter wireless and successfully installed the software and connected to the router connected as a user with administrator rights. When I connect software standard user being their but does not connect to the router. ? Standard user family security enabled, I disables it, but it makes no difference.

Thanks for your suggestion, yes tried and it works when I connect as long as the user admin with a password even if I'm in the standard account. However he does not remember the settings, so whenever you access the standard account you must connect as admin users that would amount to giving the password to the admin of my grandson who defeats the object to have its own user account.

But I solved the problem, when I looked in C:\documents and setting\admin data User, I found the folder for the software with an ini configuration file and a profile ini file. The profile ini file was missing in the same application for standard user folder. When I copied the file across and made a minor change to the standard user configuration ini file is the file of users admin everything works fine
