  I tried to uninstall all parts of SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 v (there were 3 parts); the third part, which is

  will not uninstall and I get an error message, which has in its title "Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 for Devices", (which seems to me indicate that he might be from the application itself?)

  Is there a valid way to uninstall this, given the problem - or an another workaround?

  I hope that it is not bad form to reply to my post (!), but I am pleased to announce that this Microsoft utility fixed my problem. I ran it, it looked for my system, then asked me if I wanted to uninstall or install a program, I chose to uninstall, it sought then yet once showed me a list of installed programs. I have selected SQL Server Compact 3.5 for Devices in the list. They asked me if I want to uninstall it (I think that - already done and I do not remember)-anyway, I welcomed the utility for uninstall and there was no problem. It is very useful. I don't know if the source of the error and this solution is specific to windows 7 64 bit, which is what my DELL Latitude E6530 is running, or if it is a general problem and fix. I'll never know the root cause, but at least I can go forward.

  This error is triggered when you start at the beginning of the treatment for sqlplus and is, by nature, rather generic. Given that it is triggered during initialization, it is quite possible that not all libraries that may be required for additional details (such as localized error messages) are loaded.

  The only thing you mention has changed is installation of Kaspersky, which suggests that it blocks a library required to be loaded. This error can also be triggered in case of memory (which would also prevent the loading required libraries, etc.).

  Here is a simple test you can do by way of illustration (obviously not on a production system, etc.):

  $ cd \Oracle\11.2\database\BIN
  
  $ dir /s /b oraclient11.dll
  C:\Oracle\11.2\database\BIN\oraclient11.dll
  
  $ rem temporarily rename the Oracle RDBMS Client Library for testing
  $ ren oraclient11.dll oraclient11.dll.save
  
  $ rem this will raise error 57 since a required library could not be loaded during initialization
  $ sqlplus.exe /nolog
  Error 57 initializing SQL*Plus
  Error loading message shared library
  
  $ rem be sure to change back!
  $ ren oraclient11.dll.save oraclient11.dll

  For mobile and embedded devices, you should look at ten times in Oracle server memory.

  Oracle RDBMS itself is not suitable for these devices. Although both products share some common code in their code bases.

  Hi all! It's my first time using JDBC, and I followed some examples online to establish a test to my internal DB SQL Server Express connection. Here's the Basic code that I use (with security identification information redacted, of course):

  I get this error after 20 seconds: "network error IOException: Connection timed out: connect. I understand that this is usually caused by a bad port, user name or password.

  Fairly certain that most of the last part of this is incorrect since your instance information.

  If you connect to a server using what anyone, even remotely, as a true lan so if the server is not listening you will get an immediate connection error - saying something to the topic "connection refused." And if your creds user do not match you will get a different error.

  A timeout after 20 seconds means that the network request is not being served at all, by the other other end.

  And that suggests a firewall problem.

  A simple test is the following
  -Log in as the same user that the application is running as. If you are working on the app, it's you. Is there a sort of JEE or service/cron, then it is very likely that you.
  -Open a console window.
  -Use telnet to connect using EXACTLY the same hostname and port that you expect. An example

  Telnet 1433 WINSERVER

  If telnet is successful it will give you a white screen (or something similar). Failure will give an error.

  The above process verifies that your box and the credentials of the user of the process (no connection) can successfully access the db box. Until it works your java code is not.

  Common default for SQL Server ports 1433 and 1434. It can be configured to use anything else.

  I don't know why you encounter the error but I don't know of the following:

  1. this forum is not appropriate for SQL * Developer questions.
  2 or questions on the code from SourceForge
  3 or Microsoft products.

  It seems unlikely that this has nothing to do with Oracle, so I recommend that you find a forum related to the driver if there is. Otherwise, you can try SQL * Developer forum, but I would be it is not more than a dozen others on the product trying to do that.

  This error seems to indicate that something on the side mssql breaks the connection. It could be a time-out has introduced on the DBMS, a firewall or other connectivity issues. ColdFusion is supposed to expire the connections and not pulled them under the feet.

  You can disable the option "maintain connections" to your DSN. But it will be a big performance hit. If it's a database timeout or a firewall, it increased to a reasonable length. By default, ColdFusion for delays in connection with an interval of 7 minutes 20 minutes (how many times CF seeks connections indicated as outdated and closes). So, if your DBA has instituted within 2 minutes - try bringing it to 5 minutes. Then set your DSN wait time of 3 minutes and an interval to 2.
