  I use Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider for storage in the database file Microsoft 2000 (.mdb file) for the past two months with no problems, now I get the error '80004005', of Exception occurred in the Microsoft JET Database Engine: could not open the database. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt. I study some forums but could not get a definitive answer as to why this might be happening.

  It is impossible to say when the problem occurred, but as Dennis said that Jet is not a robust database. It falls particularly in situations where is is called to manage large sets of data or be accessible from multiple users at the same time.

  In terms of alternatives, they are many if you want to go this route.

  It's using your exception.  You throw the exception on line 7.  Catch you it on line 11.  You then re - take on line 13.  Your error message refers to line 13.

  In reality, it is foolish to catch an exception just for re - throw.  If you go to catch an exception, you should usually be able to do something useful to retrieve the exception.  If you can not do something useful to recover, no catches the exception in the first place and just let spread upward.

  Looks like some program is defective. To find out which program is causing the problem, try the following steps.
  1. follow "step 1: perform a clean boot ' to disable all non-Microsoft programs: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
  2 disconnect from the computer and see if the problem persists.
  3. If the problem does not persist, then it confirms that one non-Microsoft program is causing the problem.
  4. If you want to know which program is causing the problem, run "step 2: enable half the services" to "step 6: resolve the problem" and find the culprit.
  5. Once you know what is causing the problem, remove it.

  The computer which does not the functioning of this disc DVD (standard CD works fine) ia a card mother ASUS A7V8X-X with chip AMD Athlon (TM) XP 3200 + and 1572864K memory running Windows XP - Pro SP3 works well using Microsoft Office, Paperport, as well as other programs using an HP with connected scsi Scanner HP printer.  All programs and materials work very well EXCEPT the part DVD of the functioning of the drive NEC DVD R/RW & CD-R/RW model ND - 3550A.  The standard CD reading and writing works fine on this computer.  And when this player is installed on my new Windows 7 computer, the DVD operation works very well.  Windows 7 computer also has a second CD/DVD of the same drive model NEC and THIS specific drive ALSO does not work the DVD part when placed on this Windows XP - Pro SP3 computer.  As part of my attempt to "solve" the problem, I've updated the BIOS of the computer this XP with no improvement noticed the CD/DVD drive.  All attempts to improve the results of the pilots in the statement that current driver is the most recent.  Of course, I need to get this resolved ao, any help will be much appreciated.
