Any defect ID 240350 on linux clients

Hello
I've updated vWorkspace of 7.6 to 8.0.
My clients have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and I'm having problems with the keyboard. Sometimes when users log a virtual desktop computer, the keyboard stops working.

I have read the document 'release notes' (http://documents.quest.com/DOC69662) there is a default ID 240350 = USB keyboard is automatically shared after start server USB daemon.

I think it's related to my current problem, and it is a very important issue.

Can I know when it is expected to have a solution to this problem?

Thank you

Hey Mau,

This bug shows that the keyboard doesn't work locally rather than remotely.

However, I've seen what you describe. I remember by clicking on the connection bar, a couple of times and then the keyboard made a leap in life.

Can you try it and let me know if it works for you?

If so, I'll look in my old notes to see if I fix it or just rebuilt the Linux machine.

Thank you, Andrew.

  • XP x 64 unable to share folders to any other machine (xp, win7, linux)

I recently reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows XP x 64 on my base machine and ran all the windows updates, etc.

All right, but file-sharing does not work (same printer sharing works fine).

I've disabled simple file sharing and tried several other things 2 days of research, but without success. Shared folders are seen by the other fine of machines (xp, win7, linux) (e.g. \\machine-name\folder-name), but still receive a message 'access denied '. I put "all" to have full control permissions.

At this point, I'm completely stuck, file sharing worked well before, so I think it's related to the new facility with full windows updates.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

Due to implementing Wired 802. 1 x in my business I have fased with authentication problem some computers to Linux (Ubuntu) 13.10 + via mab as my switches(C2960S-48TS-L) of access. The problem exists on IOS 12.55 and 15.0 (2) SE6.

It seems that the authenticator cannot detect the supplicant MAC address. In debugging, the MAC address is (unknown MAC) or (0000.0000.0000).

Before I could see the registered authentication MAC address on the switchport interface (no parameters of 802.1 x on the port):

You must delete all port security settings before you enable dot1x on a port, these two functions do not work well together.

  • VMware view for linux client

I'm trying to reuse some old computers (about 50), I started working on an image of Ubuntu 12.04 to deploy these computers and it seems to work great with the exception of the 1 question.  When you disconnect / logout / stop the session, you are returned to the screen where you choose your desktop session (without log in again).  Since I'm forcing the customer to see full screen as specifying the Office to connect to etc, we would like the client view logoff or restart.  Is this possible?

Can you try to launch the client of the view with the option - once. View customer will leave when disconnect / logout / stop with this option remote desktop.

  • What Linux Client "Just Works" with the merger?

    Hi all

I would use a Linux Guest in Fusion, but I can't seem to find one that "just works."  Here are my questions:

Ubuntu 8.10 - to get VMWare tools work properly, you need to install something called Open Virtual Machine tools and jump through hoops to get installed it.  Even after this, you have to run through another set of shell scripts to get the job of the iSight.  Even after all and she sound disconnects randomly when it is not disconnected, it sounds terrible or doesn't work with many applications (Skype, etc.)

openSUSE 11.1 - integration of the mouse works by default which is nice, but once again the VMWare tools install not just without jumping through hoops to get the right packages, the iSight camera works of the box, but the sound does not work in many applications (Skype again and others.)

Yes, is there a recommended linux distribution or a device that works?  I really don't want to spend the rest of my days of testing various installs.

Where did you get this idea from? The tools provided with 2.0.1 work very well.

    See http://communities.vmware.com/message/1129103#1129103

Note that this post is in the forum of the workstation. They ship a different version of tools, it is common for the merger to be a little more recent than the workstation or vice versa. You have no need open VM Tools or these instructions for Ubuntu 8.10 with Fusion 2.

Even after this, you have to run through another set of shell scripts to get the job of the iSight.

I never tried to use an iSight in a virtual machine of Ubuntu, but (lack of details), it sounds more like a problem between Ubuntu and your Mac (i.e. you would have same problems if you have installed Ubuntu natively).

This may be true, but again, I question the wisdom of community find a distro that just works.  I hope that someone will say, hey, I use XYZ and it works fine.  No, "check the official list, oh and it may not always work, cause, we didn't test the devices that are built into your Mac."

Of course, it's a reasonable question. I answer that Ubuntu 8.10 will work just for me. Our usage patterns seem to be different (and so I can't say if your tasks should work and something is strange or if it's a bug).

Well, I'll try an 8.04 Ubuntu since it is on the official list.  If the sound does not work it in Skype (and we all know that it does on a native host) then I can get "official" support right?

We are more likely (to) help with the problems that occur with the distributions with support than someone randomly.

  • Problem with USB Redirection on Horizon View Client v2.3.0 for Linux

I had a problem on the USB Redirection when connecting to the Server of VMware View by Horizon View Client v2.3.0.

    1. Here is our configuration:

        2. Horizon View Client v2. 3 for Linux
        3. USB Flash: Kingston 8 GB USB 2.0, FAT32
    2. The issue: USB flash can not redirect to VDI successfully.
    3. Some status on our test:
    • The USB is plugged USB port on workstation before connecting to Horizon view Server 5.5
    • Light client can recognize and use USB flash to the local site.
    • When we connect to VDI, we can see the USB driver is responsible for research and installation, but windows VDI() reports fail to install the USB driver finally. It seems that VDI trying to acknowledge the failure of USB flash but finally.
    • It is held even Let's restart the workstation and VDI.
    • Attached file is the log of the Horizon of the VMware View Client.

    All welcomed to this topic?

Unfortunately the newspapers show much... (note: they do not contain client-side logs)

one thing I thought well... since he is a computer thinClient - we have seen the questions that manufacturers computer thinClient some of their own 'management' software install on the client. He often tries to do things with usb devices (maybe try to share them between a receiver client citrix application and view client app or maybe just there is a citrix receiver application installed too). In our experience, we've seen these apps interfere between them as they try to hang the bottom of usb devices down into the kernel.

as such, could you try stop any 3rd party services - either citrix or your provider of thin client and then try again.

If the problem persists, can you be sure to also collect these log files from the computer thinclient:

    Windows client

    • %ProgramData%\VMware\VDM\logs\debug-*.txt
      AND
    • C:\Windows\Temp\vmware-SYSTEM\vmware-usbarb-*.log

    Linux client

    • default /tmp/vmware-root/VMware-view-Usbd-*.log
      AND
    • / Library/Logs/VMware/vmware-usbarbitrator -.log

for reference, the Agent-side usb connects:

    • %ProgramData%\VMware\VDM\logs\debug-*.txt

    see you soon
