  Hello, I use Vista Ultimate.  I'm on my home computer and have full administrative rights.  Have a big problem trying to get the recovery off the power on a personal folder read-only.  It is NOT a folder on a network or is a system folder.  When I go in the folder and click on the Security tab, ALL users have full right to make any changes.    No error displayed whenever I then deselect read only on the general tab, click on or .  But when I re - open the folder and check the properties, read-only is still active.  It's driving me crazy.  HELP!?!?!?!

  Have you checked to see if the files in the folder are effectively read-only or if the only problem is that the file is checked in read-only?

  You may need to go higher in the chain of record because some properties are inherited (see advanced security of the folder until you come to one where the special permissions list including all permissions that are inherited for administrators or your user account). It does not stick because you don't have the permissions and/or ownership to allow you to make the change.  You must have permissions to full right for all folders (both on the main page and in the special permissions list) and you will have to take possession of the records as well.  Then change the ownership and permissions for yourself and administrators and don't forget to check the box for all files and subdirectories.  This should give you what you need to make the changes.  Here is some information that might help.

  My end is set to check is "Copy of content" permission is allowed before you try to "Save as text", otherwise a dialog in Acrobat and the script hangs until the dialog box is clicked.  A way to remove the dialog box would be useful.

  Under the Privacy tab, check box "remember history". My sister had the same problem, and this box is unchecked in its version. Please try it out.

  I'm on a laptop computer with dsl internet IE with another computer using the gateway. My os is Vista Home premium and service pack 2. I checked my settings on a regular basis and updated and scanned my system regularly. I periodically check the security settings for all the problems, and they are usually very good. However, I had taken a couple of times in administrator mode, I don't have the rights of security to certain files or programs. When I checked the security labels, I got a message that I could see the settings, but could not make changes. This should not be, as far as I know, because the administrator must have all the rights. I've never seen any icon like this on the Security tab, (or anywhere else) in the past. I went into the security on a folder tab and proceeded to bring up the list of groups and their safety features and found the icon comments soiled by a arrow pointing down. Guests (multiple) icon didn't. I can't bring up anything on this subject. I'm the only person on this computer, and I use the only admin account to do administrative tasks.  I have a personal account, which is a standard user account and both accounts are protected by Word. The guest account has never been activated. The curious to keep in mind another note is that other groups are listed under the name of my pc, but system and comments are not included, for a long time with others who are in the usual list of people or groups. I'm sure that the system must be included, because that always has all the rights. I don't have not find a way to change the icon, or find info for the customer. I had checked to share, as well as the share folder normal, to see if anyone is on the network of the group to my computer profile. There was no evidence, however, I thought it would show the other computer on the local network, since the group is the same name. These icons came from. Everyone was listed as entitled to print and edit or delete parameters or printers and print on stations there. I couldn't do that. At most I would not have understood change or delete anything. In the group list, everyone was marked not with my pc name. Local service, I thought I was usually part of the active list is not marked either. System is not marked either. Here is a list of what it says:

  In Vista, administrators have all the access rights as they did in XP.  NUMBER of cases do not have access.  There are records of point junction where everybody is seen to deny access.  This is intentional to decrease the chance that someone will change, move or delete something, they should not (even administrators).  Some of them can be modified in order to access and others require special modifications of access - which shouldn't be done without a VERY good reason (as told to do so by Microsoft Support).  What you missed is that the permissions have changed in Vista from XP.

  Here is some information on permisions and property in Vista that can help:

  A lot of general system groups are included by inheritance rather than be listed in each file and folder - that's why they are not always there - but they are.  If you select Advanced, you'll see permissions inherited from other folders.

  I have no idea on the arrow on the guest account - I don't know what that means.  It may have something to do with safety or you installed AV programs (I know that Norton did something similar with the files to show if they have been backed up).  Personally I don't use the guest accounts and recommend against them because they are too easy to use to hack the sytem (and other reasons).  I would keep the disabled guest account and delete the duplicates but one off a (in the start menu / control panel / user accounts / manage other users).

  I don't know why you can't see other computers on your local network - that sounds like a network or installation problem connection coming to redo the connection from scratch will fix (and then you can remove the one that isn't working right).  I don't know why your printer changed - rights but you can easily set them back to how they must be with the Security tab in the properties of the printer (and other settings in the start menu / control panel / printers).

  I would like to help to get rid of a file. The folder used to hold pictures, but is now empty. I tried the normal removal methods. I also tried to remove prompt all to nothing does not. I tried to use Fileassassin, but it will not work with a folder and also Fileboss time to rename it to 8.3 and remove it but neither work.   Check if you have full permissions in the folder and also owner if necessary.   Security is controlled by two attributes (authorizationEnforce and authenticationRequire) in the ADF - config.Xml. look at this tag in adf - config.xml:

  Set the false values and allows you to disable the authentication and authorization. Note that if you disable authentication you may still have problems with authentication due to security constraints defined in the web.xml file.

  A more standard approach is to keep security settings intact, but to use the role of ADF fail-safe "test-all." Configure the security of the ADF to use test-all role and grant it to all objects. This way developers will have access to all objects secured without giving any privileges explicitly.

  Your key on the sticker is unique and you won't find that it listed online. Your best bet is using the camera or a glass magnifying and light source which is held at different angles to bring out the letters and numbers.

  I tried to combine 2 pdf files (scanned to PDF using Preview on Mac) in Adobe Acrobat format. However, it leaves stuck on checking for a long time security settings (see screenshot below).

  

  I checked the security settings on each pdf file and they both are evidence of no security.

  

  

  I opened the original file using an excerpt, open the print and saved in PDF format under the different name and still I can't combine the files. Is there another way to do this? I searched on Google and this forum for hours and found no solution to my problem.

  Adding Pages is the normal tool to combine PDF files, maybe thousands of pages; the particularity of the file menu is a new tool and not more effective in its results. To combine two files, it seems much faster to use.

  After combining files, it is important to use SAVE AS PDF not only SAVE. This not some cleaning, otherwise the resulting file is much larger that it must be.

  Using OS X 10.7 & using firefox 8.0.1. I get automatically logged on email accounts. Yet on the security in the preferences tab, I did not check box to enable the browser keep passwords etc.

  The favicon is the image/icon placed in front of the URL in the address bar. Cookies are required to be logged in to Gmail (or any webmail). In any case, you can set permissions on Gmail (click on the favorite icon > more info > permissions) as the setting of cookies. In any case, you can try to delete all cookies in Firefox.
