  MPEG files are problematic in all versions of Movie Maker.
  Best bet would be to convert the files to the. WMV format
  before you import into Movie Maker.

  There are many converters available on the net... some
  free... some detail.

  The following freeware converter is just one example:

  Please check if your IE8 has default value...
  Start > default programs > Set Your Default programs > D'olonne on the left, click Internet Explorer. He said "this program has all its defaults"?

• Cannot open videos

  I have videos on my camera that I messed up how they open. now I can't open them at all. For now, they have the Media Center to open. When I opened first them it was another, but I messed up that.  Can anyone help?

• Windows 8 can't open video recorded on the Canon FS300

  I recorded a video on my Canon FS300 and when I try to open the file I get this message: is unable to play, this element has been encoded in a format that is not supported by your version of Windows

  The video is on an SD card and when I discover the content of the map it shows as a MOD file.
  I would be grateful to anyone who helps advise how I can open the file. Thank you

  1. the application or program that you use to open the file?

  2. are you able to play other video files on the computer?

  3 is the issue limited to the video file on the SD card?

  Most JVC Camcorders and video cameras record video clips with the MOD file extension. However, the files actually use much more common MPEG2 and MPEG-1 compression technology. By default, Windows Media Player cannot play a JVC Camcorder MOD files.

  Windows Media Player does not support. Files MOD. see the following article for confirmation.

  I suggest that rename you the extension is a mod in .mpg and check.

  I suggest you use your favorite search engine and the search for the program that converts files is a mod.

  I open a PSD file with file / open / Camera Raw... and gives me an error... (not complete the request because it cannot open the video file).

  HI, have you tried opening the video normally, converted into a smart object, then by going to the menu Filter and selecting Camera RAW?  That should do the trick.   As far as I know, it's the only way to edit videos with Camera RAW.
