Apex 4.0 has even 100 column limit on the attributes of interactive report

We are on Apex 3.2 and one of our applications widely used interactive reports, most having more than 100 columns. The report attributes tab shows only the 100 first columns, which can be moved upwards or downwards to order. Additional columns are accessible by selecting the 100 column and use the > button to get the rest. However, these columns cannot be moved to another location.

This isn't a major problem when first create reports as SQL put them in the right order, but all fields may need some sort of setting in shape.

The problem comes when a request arrives to add an additional column to the report. No matter where I put it in the SQL, the field always ends by at the bottom of the list of attributes. If this field is required to be in the 32 column, I can't move it. I can get around this by running the interactive report, move the column to the correct position and re-record the master report.
However, the list drop-down "Filter" will always have the new column, at the bottom, which I suppose is using the report attributes list, that I can't change.

Anyway, my question is to those on Apex 4.0 - this limitation of 100 columns has been increased or is it still in place.
If someone had the same problem and found a better solution.

Thank you
Daron

Hi Daron and blabla,

Yes, it seems that this limitation is still in place and I will file a bug, if there isn't one already. But I think in APEX 4.0 is less a problem, because if you use the "tree" to edit your page, you will see all the columns in the report below the IR region. There is no limit of 100 column here. And better yet, you can use drag and drop to move the column where you want to make or change directly with a double click or the menu shortcut "Edit" option.

Hope that helps
Patrick

After adding new columns to existing NPA, you must select them for display as developer and Save the new report as the default main.

  • Horizontal scroll bar in the model of interactive report region 5 Apex (universal theme)

    Hello

We have migrated our application from 4.2 (theme: 21 scarlet) to 5.0 (changed to universal theme). Most of our reports are interactive reports and have more than 20 columns to display in the reports. 4.2 in the 'Region of report"model horizontal scroll bar came from bottom of page like below and has been easy for the user to scroll through the options to the right and see all the columns.

    Apex4.2.PNG

In the universal theme apex 5 with 'interactive report' model in order to see the columns on the far right in the first lines user must scroll the vertical bar first, then scroll horizontal straight bar and vertical bar to go to the top

    Apex5.PNG

How can you have the scroll as in 4.2 bar region of report model. I think that we need to make some changes in CSS and also need to copy the existing model and make changes and use this model in all reports.

  • First group title below displays under the column headers using the model 23 classic report with the help of repeat titles on break

    Hello

I am migrating an application from 3 APEX APEX 4.2 on a thing I noticed with the classic reports when I put them in the model 23, it's that the first section break has break notch under the headings of columns for this section of line while the remaining lines properly have it display above the headers on the subsequent sections of group.

When I look at firebug code I saw that all the tables but the first, the break line is included in the last line of the previous table, so I can see how it did not work for the holidays since.

    I have tow questions.

    1. is it really intentional because it seems not terribly elegant and my users to zero immediately above as a perceived bug.

    2. is there a reasonable job around always use headers repeat on break? I have multiple reports on the same page in places so switch to interactive reports is not a quick fix for me in this case.

Example of a question can be seen at apex.oracle.com at home

The Standard report template definition in issue 23 contains thead and tbody elements:

    Before the column header

    Column title template

    #COLUMN_HEADER#

    After the title column

    After the lines

    #PAGINATION#

This is intentional, the best practice for marking up HTML tables. What is not expected is the problem that arises when this model is used with the break of repeat titles on break formatting option. The repeated headings result table consisting of soup of tags containing several poorly constructed tbody and thead, which is not valid elements.

    2. is there a reasonable job around always use headers repeat on break? I have multiple reports on the same page in places so switch to interactive reports is not a quick fix for me in this case.

Create a copy of the report model Standard in Standard (break formatting) for use with reports of the break, remove the thead and tbody definitions of template tags and the breakdown of the reports to use the new model of change. (Or, if you use mainly break reports using the Standard template, keep the tags in the copy and remove them from the original in order to minimize the number of reports, you need to change.)

Personally, I would create a report model of line custom to break complex reports in order to be able to have complete control over the structure and presentation.

  • Create null values in the database for interactive report link column values

    Hello

I'm pretty new to APEX and tries to create an interactive report with the form. This report examines essentially for more information for a particular employee. If the employee has any information in the table, the report presents information with a button change beside him. If there is no record in the table for this employee, a create button appears. Now when you click create, a new creation page. This page contains the employee number as a single display field with the value from the previous page. This value is displayed in the page, but it is not in the database. Create the page has view-only number and a couple of other columns. The other columns get inserted into the table with an empty number!

Can someone please? Looks like the page keeps the value zero for the number of the employee who came during the search of the interactive report. Hope I made myself clear, being the newbie hope I haven't used any incorrect terminology.

    Thank you!
    Robet

Without the DB column, apex will not determine which DB column the data in this field are mapped to (it would be quite impossible to guess the destination since the name of the element column).

If you want to assign to the previous element of the page, use the default section

    return: P1_EMP_NUM

By default the value Type: body of the PLSQL function

and configure the attributes of source as I said before

When you call this function? If it's in the Source or the default value for the FLEX01 field, maybe not enough - you could try to do a calculation before conditional header on FLEX01 be null.

  • Apex error - maximum 100 columns can be selected

    Greetings!

    Version:
    Oracle 11.2

I have a classic dynamic report that brings back the result through a function. The result of the report presents data by week after your chosen dates. When the report has more than 100 columns, I get the error: "a maximum of 100 columns can be selected. Is there a way to avoid the 100 column limit in the report? Also is it possible to export the report to CSV file directly without getting this error in the report page?

We intend to move to 4.2. This limit has been set to 4.2?

Change your region report > under region Source > enter a number which corresponds to your need for maximum number of columns in the generic report

You can create a custom procedure to generate data in csv format and print to the browser.

  • Interactive report attributes: missing a column?

It comes to Application Express 3.2.1.00.12

I'm working on a report with columns drawn in a SQL statement in the definition of the region of the screen section interactive report attributes. We want to change the column names, so that they are more user-friendly, so forth that the report attributes tab, I'm looking for the name of the column, we want change, but it does not appear. Now, in the final report, the column is visible with the name of the column in the database header, so the system is aware of the column and can display it, but for some reason that we cannot see in the report attributes tab.

Why a column would be invisible or inaccessible in the report attributes tab? There are 100 columns displayed in the attributes report: section of the column attributes. Is this the reason why I'm missing some columns; 100 is a hard column on this page limit?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Paul,

the customer_id column is defined as a hidden at the Start column, and then there is no attribute of link for this column type. You must define the type 'Link' to get the attributes. There is no attribute of link on "Plain text" either.

  • Limit lines in an interactive report by USER ID or NAME

I'm fairly new to Apex and very vey would appreciate your help. We currently use Aplicaiton Express 3.2.1. I'm trying to limit the display of the lines in an interactive report by USER ID in my APP_USERS table, which contains the following columns:

    APP_USERS

    NAME
    RID
    E-mail
    ROLE

The table my interactive report based on includes the following columns:

    SC_TABLE

    MONTH
    NAME OF THE USE
    LM_NAME
    ETC... (numberical data columns)

I use an authentication scheme that verifies users RID when you access my application of our work network.

The process of information flow is the Manager of the line between data in a form and chooses his name in a LOV based on the APP_USERs table. Once submitted they can access the interactive report.

My goal here is that, when a line Manager accesses the interactive report only the emplooyes rows that match their name in a column of the report OR their identity card of the APP_USERs iarereturned. So no superiors can see or modify other hierarchical employee information.

I played adding SQL statements in the report area > Condition section but have not been able to come up with something that works. Any suggestions on how to implement this or tutorials you know that might help.

This is known as Fine grain Access Control (FGAC) and is normally implemented using views or private virtual database (CAE) of Oracle functionality.

If you are allowed to use an Enterprise Edition database and to apply these restrictions, through the entire application, or across multiple applications, then use of private virtual database (DPV), with the VPD security attribute in APEX application security attributes to set the settings in your application. (A somewhat outdated article on the use of VPD with APEX is available.)

Should you not use EE, then you can roll your own VPD use parameterized views, once again using the security attribute VPD to set the context of the application.

I'll put up a demo application. How can I make sure that you have access to my demo app?

  • Plugin 'Hidden text': how to change the mask of interactively? (Apex 4.2)

    Hello

I use the plugin 'Hidden text' large (of the Oracle Application Express Plug-Ins page) to enter formatted text.

Now, I'm trying to put in place a way so I can change the format interactively mask, but has failed so far.

The plugin has a custom attribute "The InputMask" and I created an element of the page 'P2_INPUTMASK '.

In th e page is displayed as 'Hidden text' the "The InputMask" attribute is defined on & P2_INPUTMASK.

I put in place a dynamic action (with a point of the box) that can change the value of P2_INPUTMASK, and then refresh the

Text maskes element, but the mask of text never changed.

Is it possible to change the value of the attribute mask interactively?

    Kind regards

    Roland

If you examine the code of the plugin, you will see that the mask is applied on the definition page loading, so your change does not affect things to run.

            apex_javascript.add_onload_code (
                p_code => 'apex.jQuery("#'||p_item.name||'").mask('||
                          apex_javascript.add_value(l_input_mask)||
                          '{'||apex_javascript.add_attribute('placeholder', l_placeholder, true, false)||'});' );

But you can change your dynamic action to call some javascript that would execute, something very similar to this one. Make sense?

    to start:

    $('#P2_INPUT').mask($v('P2_INPUTMASK'));

    Scott.

  • Group By deadline on Apex 4 interactive reports?

    1. is this a limit?
    2. can we increase the limit?
    3. is there any workaround solution that would allow my client to create a column of four, five columns or top group compared with the help of interactive reports?

    Hi Barry,.

Currently, the group is limited to only 3 columns. We plan to increase this limit in the next version. Unfortunately, there is no work around for this.
