App to manage several versions of Windows LV

Hello!

I can't find a reference to an application that allows you to interact (launch, etc...) with versions of LV, if we have many of those that are installed on the same PC. I remember, I saw a forum doesn't post not long ago, where someone said he has something like that. It's always annoying when I want to open a VI of disk, choose which version should open, etc...

Thanks for the info!

Just for reference and close this post, I just found the link to this app that I remembered that some time ago by chance )

I had 32-bit W7 on a SSD and 64-bit on a HARD drive with the window "select the version" appearing before the logon window.  It was working fine since I mainly used the 32-bit version.  I added a disk emulator to test is to write the ability and the first thing that appears is the crawl "Add programs" and when he did not stop for about 2 minutes I 'reset' the machine.  I was not able to start the 32-bit disk or even start the 64-bit version if the SSD is installed.

I know that Microsoft has some very strict conditions for the execution of several versions of Windows on the same machine and am concerned I have violated one or more and last crazy trying to recover the files of the SSD.  Is there a way out of this or my SSD's is just like a chance at the wrong time and I really need to find a way to get the files and applications (other than W7 32-bit) on the SSD?

    Hello

You have two licenses of Windows 7?

If you have a license of Windows 7, you can install the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version, not both.

  • Partition reserved system and several versions of Windows

    Separated from this thread.

I noticed that later "versions" of windows 7 (Pro), instead of a 100 GB partition, build a 357 MB system reserved partition. This is also the case for all / most new systems that we receive with Win 7 Pro preinstalled where I work (part-time).

This is also the case with the refurbished Dell OptiPlex 980 I bought last fall. It came with a 350 GB hard drive, the system reserved Partition was / is 357 Mb.

After cloning partitions of windows 7 to a 750 GB hard drive and the narrowing of the Win 7 Pro ("C") 152,49 GB partition I installed Windows Pro 8.1 in its own partition in the GB 545,79 remaining.

Windows 8.1 installed correctly, without any problem, using the system partition reserved 357 existing Mo created by windows 7. All major worked from the go and are still working fine today.

I noticed that when I start to Win 7 Pro, & assigns the drive letter "D" to the partition Win 8.1 Pro and Win 8.1 Pro did the same thing with the partition Win 7 Pro. Of course, the boot partition must be 'C '. Apparently, modern operating systems are "smart enough" to recognize this and make the appropriate drive letter reassignments.

Another note, I have two older systems Dell OptiPlex 620 (the two 32-bit) provided with Windows XP Pro installed. On the same Machine, after the "C" shrinking Windows XP to 25 GB Partition, I installed Windows 7 Pro (32 bit) on the remaining 207 GB. On the second machine, I shrunk Windows XP Pro 60 GB and installed Win 7 Pro on the 125 GB remaining. All of the work so far is fine.

Windows 7 Pro did not build a Reserved Partition system on each computer (Opti-630). I'm assuming it uses the Win XP partitions on them. However, if I remember correctly, Bitlocker is not available in 32-bit versions, so reserved partition is not necessary. Perhaps the other files normally placed in this score are in a "special feature" in Win XP partition?

    Norm Ives

    Norman,

There is some legacy features that are present in all versions of Windows, even Windows 10. One of them is the label C partition to the HARD drive partition where Windows is installed. At the time, when MS-DOS was in use and Windows 1.0, Windows was available as an add-on to the only existing MS-DOS and Windows cannot be installed directly without MS-DOS. Meanwhile, there were two present floppy drives, 'A' and 'B '. 'A' has the files of an operating system and 'B' is the disk storage for user files. So when the HARD drive came, it was the label 'C '. When Windows 3.1 came out, it was a huge plant at this time that it required a HARD drive for installation. The C label was added to HARD drive so HARD drive added. This legacy is maintained to this day. So you see what Windows installation, the installed Windows partition will be labeled as C only. It is also the reason why, every time that you add a floppy drive, the automatically assigned driver letter is or B and nothing else.

Coming to the system reserved partition, it contains the boot files needed to start Windows (and also of BitLocker data, if any), but present in the Windows version where BitLocker is not present (as in the case of Windows 7 Home Premium). Up to Windows XP, the boot settings were managed by a file by the name boot.ini, present in C:\ (at the root of C:\). Then when you upgrading or switching from Windows XP, and that no unformatted partition is available, this means that a new partition cannot be created. In this case, the boot files will be will deposit in the Windows installation partition only. So system reserved partition will be created during the new installation of Windows Vista or later, but if upgraded from Windows XP, startup files will be deposit in the installed Windows partition only.

The online app generator is not for iOS apps. There is no way around this restriction for iOS. You must use a Mac to create the application, although the content itself can be created under Windows.

    Update for July 29:

Last night I had a few Windows updates are available, rather than wait for them to do it automatically, I went ahead and updated manually. After that I restarted my computer, I don't always have the windows 10 application. So, I went to page Windows 10 questions of Microsoft, but this time I found this link:

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3081048

Or possible causes wear on me, so I went the resolutions.

I ran the store and it says Windows is not put on day or something like that. I thought, YES IT IS.

I have version 8.1 of Windows running update.

Resolution 2: I have Windows Update set to automatic. As I said, I had a few available and had already updated by this point. So, I did the command line and he ran as administrator. All three of the orders him to run to 8.1 are back with the packed and the text string.

I restarted my computer and still no app Windows 10. It's not the like 01:15 and I told myself to forget it. Then I remembered that a lot of releases for a lot of things are not held until 02:00 central time for me because it's at midnight, Pacific time. So, I decided to simply shut down my computer and let it until today.

Low and behold, I turn my computer and still no app Windows 10. Randomly, I decided to check to see if iTunes was updated because I had just updated iTunes on my mother's computer. Having said that I have the latest version of iTunes, I closed it. I open HP Support Assistant to see if there were several Windows updates or other notifications. As I do, I see the app Windows 10 APPEAR in the lower right.

I'm just happy that he has appeared because the Microsoft Compatibility test thing said that they did not test my product to see if it was compatible.

Anyway, I don't know if it was the after midnight Pacific Time and combination of the new features of Windows available to me, but that's what happened.

  • Help check out MGADiag, bought the new retail version of Windows 7 Pro, but he does not accept the activation key.

    Hello

I just build a new complete PC and decides to get Windows 7 Pro for it. It cost me £179 on amazon from a seller who has good reviews.

All looks well and many of such security features mentioned on this site:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/software.aspx#packaging

Are in place (change holograms that you change the view, etc.). However when I enter the product key, I get this message:

    "Code:

    0xC004C008

    Description:

The activation server determined that the specified product key cannot be used. »

I tried to go there several times, checking the caps lock etc.. The version says ' origin: Ireland ' on the insignia case of authenticity and the seller told me that before I bought it and it would work as a version of the United Kingdom's retail. The additional complication is I am currently based in France (where I tried to activate it since), but as an English speaker needed an English language version of Windows.

I have run the MGADiag.exe and this is the output:

I so I spent £179 on a version false? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Zak

A little update just for your information. 2 days and 5 calls later (I needed to technical management, through the population of Activation - no direct number so sometimes the transferred call didn't work!) I now have a version of Windows active :) work

However the question turns out to be that my legitimate version (package and all disks of good mine) and it's legitimate keys used did not match exactly.

The unused key was for a version of Windows 7 Edition product update Home Premium to Windows 7 Pro, so that's why it did not work on the new facility I was trying.

I contacted the seller amazon to let them know about this problem as it is possible that there is a lot that is perhaps not entirely legitimate.

Once again thanks to the MVP here and people I talked on the phone before this is resolved, I suspect that this could become a problem growing with Windows 7, as people are not super keen on 8 and 7 is a solid BONE with a little support left? So even if you pay a rate of 'good' for your Windows 7 disks, be aware that you can not get exactly what you expected, and maybe it would be nice if MS has always sold direct to counter this kind of question?

Thanks again to both for your advice, MVP

    Yours sincerely,

    Zak.

    Hello

Ntoskrnl.exe is a component of Windows which means than anything else he has led astray.

Most often, when there are several different Bug_Check material is involved such
like memory, video, motherboard or other.

BlueScreenView provides excellent information however as suggested in the
link to troubleshooting it is best to check the BCCode or stop Code with Faultwire and
MSDN for the methods to solve the problems as well as those in the troubleshooter.

If necessary post minidumps so we can analyze them that "may" provide more
    Details.

I'll be at Microsoft Summit PST USE starting tomorrow and may not be
able to provide a lot of support until Saturday next week (March 3).  If you need more
help I will be able to provide during this time, it would probably be a good idea
to another new question so that others are more likely to participate to help. Just refer
    paste them into this thread.

    ==========================================================

It's actually better to post the codes Bug_Check or stop than just the
BOM. These 3 respectively either 1.0 a and 1st well there
    are other similar codes.

As I said above, since there are several material Bug_Checks is likely to be involved
If you also check the drivers and other possibilities of the software.

To see how to use BlueScreenView and MyEventViewer to troubleshoot the Bluescreens see the
Methods indicate in this thread - top 3 responses (+ 1 other).

We can analyze the minidumps if make you it available to the SkyDrive or another file
sharing sites (such as MediaFire). If you have problems to download the copy of minidumps
for the office or in the Documents folder and download them from there.

ZIP or download the content of the C:\Windows\minidump

Use SkyDrive to upload collected files.

    BCCode: 0a 0x0000000A

Drivers could be at fault, however the problems of disk or security/antivirus/antispyware products are
just as likely to be the root cause that they can force a driver to corrupt or go out of bounds.
The video driver or something affecting it would be questionable.

Make sure that the drivers, BIOS and chipset of low-level drivers are all updated by checking manually
system manufacturer and device manufacturers sites.

Below I'll post a generic bluescreen convenience store and in the next message how to upgrade
drivers and BIOS as well as controls memory.

    -----------------------------------

    BCCode: 0a 0x0000000A

    Cause

This bug check is issued if the memory paged (or invalid) is accessible when the IRQL is too high.

The error that usually generates this bug check occurs after the installation of the faulty device driver or service system, BIOS.

If you encounter a bug 0xA control during the upgrade to a later version of Windows, this error can be caused by a device driver, system service, an anti-virus or a backup tool that is not compatible with the new version.

    Solve the problem

If a kernel debugger is available, get a stack trace.

To resolve an error caused by the faulty device driver or service system, BIOS

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. Press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system.
    3. In the Windows Advanced Options menu, select last known good Configuration . This option is most effective when a pilot or a service is added at a time.

To resolve an error caused by an incompatible device driver, system service, virus scanner, or backup tool

    1. Check the system log in Event Viewer for error messages that may identify the device or driver that caused the error.
    2. Try disabling the cache in memory of the BIOS.
    3. Run the diagnostics of equipment provided by the manufacturer of the system, in particular the scanner memory. For more information about these procedures, see the manual of your computer.
    4. Make sure that the latest Service Pack is installed.
    5. If your system has cards (SCSI) small computer system interface, contact the card manufacturer for updated Windows drivers. Try to disable sync negotiation in the SCSI BIOS, check the wiring and the SCSI ID of each device and confirming the proper termination.
    6. For devices (IDE) peripheral electronic integrated, set the built-in as only primary IDE port. Also, check each IDE device to the right setting master/slave/stand alone. Try to remove all IDE devices except for the hard drives.

If the message appears during installation of Windows, make sure that the computer and installed devices are listed in the list of the products tested Microsoft Windows market.

    Comments

Before upgrading to a new version of Windows, remove all third-party device drivers and system services and disable any antivirus. Contact software manufacturers for updates of these third-party tools.

Remove ALL power and reinstall all the memory cards and cables (both ends when)
    possible)
    - in fact, remove and replace - do not just tight. This is for a PC and on all
that can be done for a laptop is reinstall the memory and clear the vents. Make sure the BIOS.
low level chipset drivers and key device drivers are all up to date by check manually to the
    manufacturer websites.

Bluescreens many are caused by the BIOS, drivers from the chipset level low and other main device drivers
that are not the latest, even if the computer is new. Manually check for updates
using the methods of updates as indicated in the resolution of the above issues and/or methods
    below (which are the same).

    BCCode: 1st 0x0000001E

    Cause

It is a very common bug control. To interpret it, you must identify which exception has been generated.

    Common exception codes include:

    • 0 X 80000002: STATUS_DATATYPE_MISALIGNMENT

An unaligned data reference was encountered.

    • 0 X 80000003: STATUS_BREAKPOINT

A breakpoint or ASSERTION was met when no kernel debugger was attached to the system.

    • 0XC0000005: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION

A memory access violation has occurred. (Parameter 4, verification of bug is the address to which the driver attempted to access.)

For a complete list of exception codes, see the ntstatus.h file located in the directoryInc. of the Windows Driver Kit.

    Resolution

If you do not have to debug this problem, you must use certain basic troubleshooting techniques. If a driver is identified in the bug check message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video cards. Check with your hardware vendor for updates to the BIOS. Disable the BIOS memory options such as implementing caching or shading.

If you plan to debug this problem, you find it difficult to get a stack trace. Parameter 2 (the address of the exception) should identify the driver or function that caused the problem.

If the exception code 0 x 80000003 occurs, this indicates that a breakpoint coded hard or assertion was hit, but the system was launched with the/nodebug. switch. This problem should occur infrequently. If it occurs repeatedly, make sure a kernel debugger is connected and the system is booted with theSwitch/DEBUG .

In case of exception code 0 x 80000002, the trap frame will provide additional information.

If you don't know the specific cause of the exception, the following should be considered:

Hardware incompatibility. First of all, make sure that all new equipment installed is listed in the list of the products tested Microsoft Windows market.

Service system or driver faulty device. In addition, a chauffeur service or defective peripheral system could be responsible for this error. The hardware problems, such as BIOS incompatibilities, conflicts of memory and IRQ conflicts can also generate this error.

If a driver is listed by name in the bug check message, disable or remove that driver. Disable or remove drivers or services that have been recently added. If the error occurs during the startup sequence and the system partition is formatted with the NTFS file system, you may be able to use Safe Mode to rename or to delete the faulty driver. If the driver is used as part of the start-up procedure of the system Safe Mode, you must start the computer by using the Recovery Console to access the file.

If the problem is associated with Win32k.sys, the source of the error may be a third-party remote control program. If this software is installed, the service may be removed by the system startup by using the Recovery Console and by removing the offending system service file.

Check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help determine the device or driver responsible for control of bug 0x1E. Disable the cache in the BIOS memory could also resolve the error. You must also run hardware diagnostics, especially the scanner memory, provided by the manufacturer of the system. For more information about these procedures, see the manual of your computer.

The error that generates this message may occur after the first reboot during Windows Setup, or after installation is complete. A possible cause of the error is incompatibility of the system BIOS. BIOS problems can be solved by upgrading the version of the system BIOS.

  • Photo Story 3 do not install or work on the final version of Windows 8

I received an email from a family member who said...

"I have a question of photo story. Last night, I installed Windows 8 preview version on Win 7 64-bit PCs who had installed photo story to test if it would work on 8 to win. It worked with a mouse problem, that I got with the program under Win 7. So, today, I bought a copy of win 8 and installed on the PC even after reinstalling Win 7 and Photo Reportage on the PC. This time I get the message this Photo story is not compatible with Windows 8. What gives. It works on preview but not the final version. Am I missing something? Can I make it work? »

My personal experience with 12 apps I've tried so far Photo Story 3 is the only one who is not to install or work on the 9200 Build Windows 8 enterprise.
We've been through the same thing when Windows 7 is released. Photo Story 3 worked on the preliminary but abruptly stopped when the final version has been published. He solved and works fine on Windows 7.

I managed to install Photo Story 3 on Windows 8 Enterprise x 64 and Windows Enterprise 8.1 Preview x 64.  I also discovered exactly what it breaks, and I guess that's what beat Photo Story 3 for people on Windows 7: LegitCheckControl.dll

If you download from the Microsoft Web site through the alternative method the photo story 3 application will install and work fine.  If however you choose to install the ActiveX Windows Genuine Advantage version, it installs the LegitCheckControl.dll, some registry settings and will result in the following errors.

    Setup error:

"Photo Story 3 for Windows cannot be installed on this version of Windows. Check the system requirements for photo story 3 for Windows before attempting to install the program".

    Error launching application:

"Photo Story 3 for Windows cannot run this version of Windows.  Check the requirements for photo story 3 for Windows before trying to execute it."

While the problem is happening, you can install Photo Story 3 on systems that are affected by the WGA ActiveX components through the command line with the following example:

    MsiExec.exe /i Pstory.msi/passive SKIPOSCHECK = 1 NOLEGITCHECK = 1

    To solve two problems:

As the installation of the ActiveX program does not include an uninstall program, the best solution is to rename the WGA DLL via PowerShell or command line as an administrator for that photo story may find it is no longer, and so you can enable it again in the future without problem.

  • How can manage us versioning of unit tests in the Test Oracle Manager

    Hello

Usually, we have several versions of our product. How to manage versions of testcases in Oracle Test Manager (MTM) so that we can run a version-specific unit tests? Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Hello

You can create a separate test group to organize unit tests by version. You can also choose the tests that will be run using the Scheduler. Or you can create a separate project to store your unit tests by app version/version. You can't store different versions of a script automated in a unit test in OTM.

  • No IOS app is created by using the App package manager?

I published my journey as a content of HTML 5 and then used App Packager to convert it to an application.

I chose both Android and IOS, but after the conversion, I only got the app for Android, Symbian, webOS and Windows Phone, but did not get the app for IOS.

Someone has managed to convert an IOS app?

    Hello

The process to complete iOS relies is slightly different from that for other platforms: all versions of iOS must be signed by a developer certificate and a configuration profile, which is related to your Apple Developer account and the device you want to test on.
