Apple Mail shows gmail in 2 places...

The left column of Apple Mail shows gmail accounts in 2 places. Under the mailboxes up and then again lower down with folders marked ' staff, recipes, important, deleted, drafts, messages sent messages, travel, work. I REALLY want to get rid of these completely confusing and unnecessary repetitions that takes not so much space on the page. How can I do this? Thank you

Stop using Gmail, all records down below come from Gmail, and they are a complete waste of space.

Either get a proper messaging system or go in Gmail settings and disable all of these unnecessary files. (Your message mentions rehearsals but it's not in your post itself)

  • Why is my inbox count in gmail, and apple mail different?

Yesterday, I asked my wife to go to gmail.com and clean my Inbox because I had more than 500 messages there. She joined the gmail.com using my email and password and she cleaned to have only 12 messages.

I didn't know she was done because all day, my apple mail that is related to my gmail has shown the same 500 messages. When I arrived at work this morning, I noticed that he said now 249 messages, so he did, in fact, remove (or archives), some of them. I wonder if those are the only updates that it deleted but not those she archived.

So my question is what I'm doing wrong to my settings. Is that a setting messed where archiving of messages in gmail.com don't check them in apple mail or visa versa or is simply not sync properly?

    Thank you

I see tabs for primary school, social, Promotions, updates in Gmail in your browser. You must disable these. Mail will show all emails in all of these tabs.

To disable the feature, click on the sign +. You can then deselect each of these tabs.

  • Delete messages from Gmail, but keep in Apple Mail?

    Hi all.

I use Apple Mail to download my Gmail via IMAP (Apple Mail 9.3, OSX 10.11.5).

The problem is that my Gmail account is complete. To free up space in Gmail, I want to delete messages from Gmail, but keep them locally in Apple Mail. How can I do? I guess it's the server settings, but I don't know if I need to tinker with the Apple Mail, Gmail server settings, or both.

I tried to delete the messages in Gmail, but Apple Mail sync with Gmail and delete them locally, too.

    Thank you!

Activate the sidebar of accounts, so you can see the hierarchy of depot.

You should see a section here which says on my Mac. Click to show it, then right click to add box to the letters it. Call it something like old Gmail 2008-2014. Now you can select your old Gmails mainly Gmail Inbox and sent boxes and drag them to this mailbox on my Mac (folder). If you move hundreds or thousands of emails, here could be a delay before they appear in the new location, so don't panic.

Note: Many users choose simply to archive old emails, but do in Gmail, still continues to them on the server, if you're not reduce used storage space.

  • Apple Mail client - Google Gmail - so "read" messages in the Inbox

There are 18 messages in my Inbox. It is through Safari/gmail.com. My Apple Mail, zero messages client. They are not displayed in my client. Why?

Apple Mail account type is IMAP. I don't see any switch would turn to offshore my messages read.

Unread messages are displayed in my mail box.

Clarification question - are the emails in your Inbox, the same who are at gmail.com? Or are the emails not downloading? What version of OS are you using? It is the community of Yosemite, but your profile shows 10.11.

  • Gmail and Apple Mail - POP IMAP

I converted about 10 POP IMAP e-mail accounts.  In the process, I lost thousands of emails associated with my ISP email accounts. It was really my fault... water under the bridge.

It's bad enough, but the worst is Gmail. I never use Gmail online. With pop, I just received messages via Apple Mail and delete or remove messages on my MBP.

Now, after having converted the IMAP accounts, I get all gmail messages I've ever sent or received, down, responsible for Apple Mail and I can't understand how to stop them.  He now has a record of archive which regenerates every time that I have trash all messages.  There are a multitude of other questions as well.

At this point all my accounts are offline until I can figure out what to do.  All advice is greatly appreciated.

    • IMAP accounts: Messages are stored on an e-mail server until you delete them. When your account connects to the server, it is synchronized so that the messages on your Mac are the same as those on the server. Messages are accessible from different computers and locations where you use the account.
    • POP accounts: Messages are stored on an e-mail server and are downloaded to your Mac when you access your account. Messages remain on the server until they are deleted from the server.
  • The outgoing Gmail does not work in Apple Mail

I have a MacBook Pro, Version 10.11.4 El Capitan. I have 2 Gmail accounts and receive my mail via Apple Mail. However, the outgoing SMTP protocol is red. No matter what I do, mail will not send. I don't have this problem with my phone or my Ipad. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Yyou may first need to remove this account, and then add it from scratch. Use the same parameters of account exactly as on your work of ice.

  • My Apple ID shows my partners name in iCloud Mail

OK, so I have a strange and I can't get to the bottom of it or just find something similar in the research.

I have an apple implemented ([email protected]) ID. When I go to send the email from https://www.icloud.com/#mail he puts my name pre married partners against it (i.e. Unetelle [email protected]). When I send an email, the recipient then gets his (former name) and not mine.

This only happens when I send icloud. I have exactly the same configuration running off e-mail native on mac and iOS and none of them (i.e. what they send my name[email protected]).

I checked https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage and it's OK to my name and billing is in my name. I deleted and re-admitted with no luck.

My partners apple ID is now under her married name, so the pre married name does not even reflect its current code.

I'm kinda a waste because I have no idea where it came from and apparently no way to separate it!

Finally managed to solve this one, so just in case anyone has the same problem. Essentially, and that I did not realize, is that the display name to icloud, native mail and all appleID can operate independently (I thought it was driven off Apple ID).

    On webmail

https://www.iCloud.com/#mail> gear (lower-left) icon > Preferences > accounts > change the name here (still no idea why that was linked to my name meadow married partners, but it is where I changed it)

    Native mail

Mail > Preferences > accounts and you can change here as well.

  • Mail and gmail don't agree in the Sierra, once again.

I had resolved all the gmail against messaging problems in El Capitan, but after upgrading to Sierra problems are back.

When I write and send an e-mail message, I find myself with a project in gmail attached to the messages thread which is waiting, despite having sent in Mail. The message is sent, but it remains as a draft in gmail. If I delete those, I'm deleting my copy of the message sent in gmail, but if I send them from gmail I'll send the same e-mail twice.

Any who see other related issues with Mail and gmail to disagree again?

I noticed that they have changed the settings in mail preferences you must specifically choose folder where you want to that mail to store drafts in. I have changed (back) to save them locally, which is always annoying, but I hope it will help with future messages, but what about all these projects message already sent? If I remove them, gmail sync sent versions of mail or delete?

How did the years and years pass, and Apple can't do gmail and work well together? Is not gmail so widely used they would have fixed this now?

I have problem with my IMAP accounts additional air currents. I suggest that you create a new user to test.

Try to set up a test account, see if the problem is global, or just linked to your account.

    CREATE A NEW USER

Go to system-> Preferences, create a new user in users and groups.

Switch to the new user by logging incoming/outgoing or use the fast user switching.

You can skip signature with your Apple ID, unless you test iCloud Mail.

By default only the applications Apple will be in the dock in the new user. Go to Applications to open other apps, that you can test.

If you see the same question in the new user, report it to the comments of the Apple in order to be connected and put in the queue to be fixed.

  • Apple Mail is not save drafts

I just spent two hours working on a response to an e-mail. I recorded it several times (with Apple Mail/save).

Apple Mail seemed to close unexpectedly (although it is possible that I accidentally closed it).

I opened it and looked for my email in DRAFTS. He wasn't there.

I also used Time Machine to watch. He wasn't there at all.

I then deliberately made a new message - and also a message 'response' - to see if they would save as drafts. They would not.

I have other drafts in my drafts of later on September 9.

    What is going on?

You checked the box according to the screenshot and they are saved on the server, to show in IMAP account uncheck.

    Thank you!

  • How to import Apple Mail to Outlook 2015?

I just installed Office 2015 and I am trying to convert my Apple Mail files to Outlook 2015.  Mail Extractor Pro (as a trial) did not. Apple support has no documentation of Microsoft and has not been able to help. All my accounts (except one) are gmail, and configured in IMAP, so I'm more concerned with bringing more files I have saved locally on my computer.

    MacBook Air mid-2013

    10.11.6 OS

    Mail 9.3

    Outlook for Mac 15.24

    Thank you!

I don't know of a way of moving files between Mac Mail and Outlook, how I've done before is to create some folder on the mailbox Gmail IMAP and Gmail allows you to transfer emails. It will then be it synchronized via connection Gmail which will allow you to take the mails don't want in the mailbox gmail on a local store of Outlook and delete gmail.

Mac and Outlook use a totally different way of local e-mail storage. The only thing that might work is to drag emails the deskop and drag them to Outlook? Not sure 100% if it will work, but it might be useful to give a go on one or two emails?
