Apple Migration Assistant problem - PC to iMac
Trying to transfer files from old PC to the new iMac via the Migration Wizard with an Ethernet cable. Succeeded with the files in the c: on computer but no pictures and documents of a user. It connects very well, says it is mutating and when it's done it is said "' sorry, some files could not be transferred to _ user". "
It turns out that "some cases" refers to all of them. Nothing is there. Also can't find those 'successful '. It transfers the user, but the user is empty.
Is there a solution or another way to transfer files?
Have you thought to manually copy the pictures/documents on a USB key or external hard drive and transfer them on the Mac in this way?

Hello
What service Pack is installed on the computer?
Windows migration brings the following information about your Windows PC (Windows XP SP3 or higher) on your Mac:Note: You must have at least Windows XP with Service pack 3 for Windows Migration Wizard.Method 1: Temporarily disable the antivirus software and check if that helps.
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.Method 2:

Creative cloud will not install after using the Apple Migration Assistant to transfer again Mac
I used Migration Assistant to transfer applications to a new Mac. Creative cloud threw an error. I used uninstaller to remove the Creative app clouds, then downloaded the new version of the Adobe site. When you try to install, the installer of creative cloud crashes before installation.
I then launched an application, he said I need to save it. So I logged into my account, turned off all previous installations on other Macs. My apps work now. However, I still cannot install creative cloud desktop application (same behavior takes place).
I use the latest version of Yosemite on a Mac PowerBook.

Migration assistant to migrate an old iMac 2006
A friend with an old 2006 Intel iMac which was under Snow Leopard is replaced by a current model of retina of 27 inches. Can I use SuperDuper clone to migrate its data/applications/settings etc. the old iMac 17 inch to the new 27 inch one? I don't remember if the former must be at least Lion to work with the Migration Wizard, or it can be under Snow Leopard?
To complicate matters even more, yesterday I upgraded her iMac to Lion, so she could buy a recent brother model all in one scanner/printer/copier, which requires the minimum Lion. The upgrade worked but the iMac has slowed to a crawl, and it is not possible to work on it in this State (it is maxed out at 3 GB of RAM). She was going to buy a new Mac in a few months, but it seems more practical to buy now, where my question on enter its data into the new iMac El Cap when it arrives. Before you erase his hd and reinstall Snow Leopard of the clone, I thought it might be useful to make a backup of the current installation of Lion, thinking it's maybe easier to use with the Migration Wizard. But I want to check with the experts here on the forum before you do anything.
Depends on the version of OS X installed on the backup of the SD. Migration Assistant works with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or later version. However, instead of using MY, she should use Setup Wizard which is practically the same thing that MY except that it does not create a new user account. Connect the SD card to the new machine when it arrives, when it is on SA launches and finally request if you are migrating from another Mac, select Yes and follow the prompts on the screen. Apple explains to move your content to a new Mac - Apple Support.
BTW, you are way more thinking about this, a migration is a very simple process.

I just bought a new iMac and used the Migration Assistant to transfer my files. At first everything worked, but now a week later, I get the message that the application manager is missing, and I can't Photoshop and InDesign to start. For my personal use, I don't have a need to reach creative Cloud. You have any suggestions for a workaround?
Try installing Adobe application Manager down the link and check

Migration Assistant tips - model 2009 to 2016 New
I would like to use the Migration Wizard to move date of old new iMac, but was one could move "crud". Any advice?
Old machine is 2009 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running 10.8.5. It may be shocking slow (more than a minute to answer a click sometimes). Concern that the hard drive may be out. I used Migration Assistant to least an older eMac it before and quite possible an original iMac before that. So there are many old things lurking there in.
I've already implemented the new machine slot a new name (some say bad idea). However, new machine has been used for web and e-mail Web since he was pulled up. So maybe I can go and rename?
I don't have a ton of time to move much more than the docs if I don't use MY that I don't have time to learn all the intricacies of what lies where.
Great dangers if I use MY or just hover over the docs and start over?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
You must use the Migration Wizard the first time you start your new Mac, after that it will create another user admin and that can cause you problems. Wipe the drive and start again are the simplest solution. Most of the "crud" is small files that not harm. To determine if one of your crud is harmful, please download and run EtreCheck. It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. It will also give us additional specifications on your Mac. After his execution after the logfile here. What is the problem with my iMac mid-2011
Hello
Need help find out what is the problem with my iMac to mid-2011.
Yesterday during a reboot it just never came to life.
On turning the power on, I get the RINGTONE to start and that's it. The screen is totally black. Nothing behind tried with a torch.
VRAM rearmament so far I tried repeatedly, unplug and plug, all kinds of combinations of keys in the carillon and nothing.
Connected to an external monitor and shows nothing of too - no signal.
Any way that I can know what is wrong with it before sending it to the service tech? I suspect bad graphics card but how do you ensure?
From what you describe, it looks like a hardware issue that Apple will only be able to resolve, but not to despair immediately.
Read it please get help with graphics issues on external displays connected to your Mac - Apple Support.
I know that the title and subject are not suitable to your concern, but buried in this document is the following passage that contains three links describing the steps to follow.
If you can not change the resolution of your screen because you see no image, restart your Mac in safe mode to reset the default display resolution.
If booting safe mode doesn't resolve the problem, reset your Mac NVRAM and SMC to reset the video ports on your Mac to their default values.
That first, then write again for additional suggestions if you are still having problems.

Migration assistant did not what I expected
I set up my iMac 5K and installed Photoshop and Office of the COR. I used Migration Assistant, thinking it would be the best way to transfer my iTunes from my old Mac Mini Library. Now, I have two accounts on my new iMac, HLP from my old Mac Mini and HP the new account, I just put in place. How can I: 1) move my iTunes library of HLP HP and 2) Get rid of the HLP account that I don't want on my 5 K?
This article can help you
https://www.macissues.com/2014/05/21/how-to-combine-two-accounts-in-OS-x/
You not use Migration Wizard and Setup Assistant, you would not create a second user account. However, it's water under the bridge. Next time, consider using the configuration wizard and migrate then and not an afterthought.

Using Migration Assistant with no display
I got my MacBook mid-2010 (2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, OS X El Capitan) for 2 years.
It splits into two somewhere within 2 years.
The MacBook was still usable, but it had to be on a desk. The screen was completely separate from the base. It still worked.
I woke up a few days ago to find that someone had cut the display cable holding the MacBook set and turn on the screen.
I bought an early-2011 13 "MacBook Pro to replace the dead MacBook. (Yes, I buy old Mac because the news is so expensive).
Old Mac has been saved semi regularly, so I have an old backup to use for the new Mac. The problem is that just before the death of the former Mac, I downloaded a bunch of stuff that has not been saved. I really want the files that have not been backed up on my new MBP.
Can I use Migration Wizard with an Ethernet cable and transfer of data from one, or Migration Assistant must be running on old Mac as well?
I tried to connect (I'm sure that the computer is still running, it doesn't simply have a display) on the old Mac, plug the backup drive and I hope to do a backup hourly, but Time Machine did not only.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
If you use Ethernet or a wireless network to transfer data, Yes. If you can not download the files and file-sharing has not been activated on the old Mac, you must either get fixed display or put its internal drive in a closed Chamber.

Migration assistant will consolidate iPhoto and photo libraries
I just bought an iMac "towards the end of 2015" to replace my iMac 2011. I'm a Mac (MacBook Pro and iMac) user since 2005 and I am aware of the installation of the Migration Wizard when you first install a new Mac. However, for some reason, I have an iphotos library and a library of photos. Can anyone tell if migration assistant will consolidate in a single library or I have to do (manually?) before migration?
Two follow-up questions (if you're still reading this...)
iMovie is now only opens on my iMac 2011 (part of the reason why I bought a new iMac). There are projects that must still be finalized that it contains. Speculation as to whether the data migration is likely to result in my getting access to these existing projects? Worst case scenario would be that everything that is corrupt iMovie on my current iMac is transferred to the new machine. My guess is that what stop imovie to open 2011 on the iMac is not related to the data that make up the project, so that when I migrate to the new machine, I go back to my projects. Can anyone confirm this?
Last question (base); What are the recommendations for what should be my time machine drive? I currently have 1 Tb internal, more an external of 2 to 3 TB of disk. With the new machine equipped with connectivity Thunderbolt that I will be in the market for a new external hard drive. because the new machine has 2 TB drive internal pot and am looking to get a disc hard thunderbolt of 3 - 4Tb, should I still 5-6 to time machine as backup (assuming I get nearby using all available space my on my internal and external drive)?
Much appreciated for your advice.
No, it won't merge.
Using both programs such as libraries have different content that needs merging? When Photos import iPhoto library, it creates hard links to files, not copy, so they do not all the disk space.
I can't respond to the #2.
Your our backup drive should be two to three times the amount of data to back up.
