Hi Armycyrus,
Have you done a recent software or hardware changes to the system?
Method 1:
If iTunes is installed on the system, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the same and check if it helps:
For more information, see the article:
Remove and reinstall iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Method 2:
It seems to reset Winsock has solved the problem:
For more information, see the Apple support links:

Alternatively, you can try to reset Winsock and check if it helps:
Important: The foregoing contains as follows to change the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

The CPU usage reaches 100% and the system locks requiring a hard restart on Windows Vista
All of sudden the CPU usage reaches 100%, which makes the system dead slow and finally the system stops responding. I have to do a hard reboot to continue using the system.
I tried to open the Task Manager to see if there are programs or services running that can consume resources and found nothing. The remains of number of CPU use, the graph to use but less than 10 years is hovering at 100%.
I did not change my system.
The problem appears on the two accounts that I installed on my operating system.
I removed all the unwanted programs since the system was started.
I have McAfee Antivirus installed for more than a year now, and the latest antivirus patches have been installed.
Help, please.

Satellite C650D - the CPU usage is jumping around
I bought a Toshiba Satellite C650D 2 months ago and I used the Windows 7 that came with it, thinking that it was fine and dandy until a few days ago, he started having random lag spikes.
At first he just happen when you watch movies (tried 4 different programs, all reinstalled the driver, scanned for malware, defragmented, you name) and then she started to occur outside the viewing of film aswell. Who did it for me, and I installed Windows XP. I did 3 times now, clean install it Windows XP. Initially, it seemed fine. For a few hours, and then it started lagging really bad, not like in Windows 7, but the CPU usage is jumping all over the boundaries between 1% and 99% at random, but there is no process to take it!
He lags behind what I do, just open the Notepad can blow. I thought that it would work with a format clean, but no, of course the problem reoccured. It might be drivers, see problems in Windows 7 and XP are somewhat different. I'm in my intelligence ends here on what to do, whatever that is would be helpful.
Hey Buddy,
Looks like on your laptop is a background passes process that is causing this different and high CPU usage.
What happens if you install Windows 7 Toshiba Recovery disk and look in the Manager of tasks? Directly after this installation, you should have a low CPU usage and stable because it s installation of Windows from Toshiba.

Satellite A45 - the CPU usage is high and slow applications
Hi all
I'm trying to debug a hardware problem on my Toshiba Satellite A45. I am running Ubuntu 10.04, but I don't think that it's operating system or related software.
THE PROBLEM: The CPU usage is high and applications slowly to a crawl after using an intensive application of memory for a few minutes, i.e. to watch a video or a game. Basically, anything that could use the screen much. If instead, I work only from a prompt, even when the application could do a lot of work, I do not encounter this problem. After stopping all applications, the CPU usage is always higher than normal (90% idle, should normally be slowed down to about 99%).
Xorg now typically showing about 6% (normally use< 2%).="" if="" i="" at="" any="" time="" after="" this="" try="" to="" work="" in="" any="" application,="" usage="" is="" still="" bogged="" down.="" only="" a="" reset="" gets="" me="" back="" to="">
Note: My system has always worked very well and I did not made the installation of the software or changes when it started to happen.
However, the laptop is a 800 miles round trip at the rear of the car in a padded bag.DEBUG: This doesn't seem to be the RAM that I replaced the RAM and reinstall the RAM, and the problem persists. This doesn't seem to be the hard drive that I can try to run it from a Live CD (without use of HARD drive) and yet everything slows to a crawl.
HELP: I don't know how to debug from here.
I don't have extra pieces of hardware to make swaps.Any ideas more how to debug this?
Thank you

> I am running Ubuntu 10.04, but I don't think that it's operating system or related software.
It s interesting why you think that this may be software related issueI think that it is a typical software problem because the RAM and the HARD drive has been verified you have reported this in the message
So what to say maybe some virus or malware likely to obstruct the CPU and the memory usage
Or there is some process in the background that are not properlyI recommend you to reinstall the Windows operating system or another distribution of Linux that runs NO Live CD, but which is installed on the HARD drive
I m sure that s kind of the process that is disabled and crashes somewhere in the background -
BTW my 15 Flex-2 upgrade to Windows 10 Home took place, working after a few minor updates manual driver (WLAN, graphics)...
However, since the upgrade, I feel an annoying symptom, which has been reported by users of other brands as well.
Although I already follow most of related advice (known assassination unnessary process, change of reports), the CPU usage is still constantly around 30%, causing the fan to operate continuously and even more unsatisfactory: extremely affecting the battery life! Using processexplorer that I discovered, that svchost (or one of its processes) is at the origin of the problem, not one of the applications. As I am not able to dig deeper, I wonder what measures taken so far by Lenovo to have the Microsoft fix this problem.
Attached: screenshots 'notification', 'Treaty', 'system '.
Other tips are appreciated.
Mod edit: added warning about large images for those who have slow Internet service.
UPDATE Oct10:
Went to manually check tile Lenovo Support and offered an update of SystemInterfaceFoundation.exe.
Run the update and believe it or not: the CPU usage is almost back to normal (about 4%) with browser open FF and AV SW race. less than 2.5% use svchost. Fan turns down to 'stop' or low speed.
Can someone pls? Be wary of situation for the next few days...Update Oct11:
No idea how to mark this "resolved" thread: System runs stable like a charm. Quiet, low CPU utilization and the normal battery life.
No other text. Problem solved. See above

Svchost.exe to 47 to 52% of CPU usage! ;-(
For some strange reason, I have svchost.exe running at 47 to 52% cpu usage. It's 6 380 to 6 444 K memory with the standard description of host for Windows process in the Task Manager. User name is NETWORK SERVICE. The system idle process is a 36% with 57 to 67% CPU usage.
ANY ideas what it is? I thought maybe would it be re-indexing, but it went on-and-on-and-on... ;-(
I use McAfee AV on my chip 64-bit Vista Ultimate OS and Intel (Dell Inspiron, 500 GB HD, 4 GB of RAM; LED display). Hard disk no is used, is nearly 80%.
Last scan was clearly for the AV scan
TIA
To check what service to use the CPU in a svchost with Process Explorer:
- Click on "Show details for all processes" in the menu "file".
- Make a right-click the svchost that you are interested in
- Click 'properties '.
- Click on the tab 'son '.
Doing this causes some recent versions of Process Explorer crash on my Vista system but the 15.12 version published yesterday (January 12) seems to be OK.
The phenomenon of high processor by Dnscache usage has been reported elsewhere, for example,
A possible cause is a large number of entries in the hosts file. Some security software (anti-spyware/ad blocking) can use this method to block malicious Web sites. You can reset the hosts on its default file using this fix it.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/972034
You can also try to flush the DNS cache:
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/74209-DNS-resolver-cache.html
If it's not the hosts file, try to uninstall McAfee in the case which is in question.
If you can't find what is the cause, running with disabled dnscache should not cause problems.

The CPU usage goes to 100%
I have a laptop Dell Studio 2010, the processor Intel, 4 GB of ram, hard disk 320 GM (180 GB consumed) running Windows 7 and IE 11 giving me CPU usage problems. I don't know what everything is related, so here's the story.
I lived my download speed slow - dropped by half every 2 hours or more after a reboot. Occasional problems with the speed of the computer as well, and when I checked the resource monitor I see the CPU usage hit 100%. A reboot has always solved the problem. Running in Mode safe mode eliminates the loss of download speed so I knew it wasn't a problem with the hardware or my cable modem or a wireless router. I have explored many possible problems, but none solves the problem, then I reinstalled Win 7 Friday, January 16. Download speed, not only fixed but faster than before. It remains stable and do not disintegrate so there was something wrong with the OS, etc.
However, the problem of the use of the CPU remains. What seems to happen is that something triggers a high demand and then all processes on the computer joins. When I look at the resource now monitor consumes 1.3% of CPU, but when things are choking it consumes 15% of CPU and go all processes running as 0.5% to 5%. So you can't point to a single process as the culprit it is possible that web sites of strong demand (lots of ads) trigger the problem. I'll do some research on that.
I did a lot of web research as well as this forum, and no patches seem to work or apply to me. I ran a Malwarebytes scan and a full virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials: nothing found.
The computer is almost 4 years, but I wouldn't spend the $$ to replace and find that the problem is software. Any ideas?
The problem solved when I've upgraded to Win10 on this machine. At the same time degradation download speed (with time) newsletter is resolved. I can't imagine how everything worked but I discussed the idea with several IT people I know and have gotten various suggestions.
Since a clean installation of the operating system has not fixed it, I do not understand why install Win10 fixed, but that's it.
Since then, I've replaced this computer.

Hello.
I have two boot server with 3.5 update 5, the first to have all virtual machines powered, the second did not start the virtual machine, but when I check the processor, the memory usage, I see some extrange. The second server uses 12% of the processor, the same as the first server (but with no virtual machine under tension).
How can I check which process is using CPU in the second server.
Thank you...
Hello
Maybe your virtual machines to sleep... That is why the CPU usage is so low and substantially the same on both servers. But as you can see, consumption of memory is different. This is because even if a virtual machine does nothing, it does not free its memory in contrast to CPU resources.
Take a look at each VM CPU consumption to confirm the normal behavior of your host.

Hello
If you plan to build your app for Windows, you can use .NET classes. (System.PerformanceCounter), there is a simple example with LabVIEW:
C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\examples\comm\dotnet\SimpleTaskMonitor.llb
Also, you have several screws that you can use to verify information about the processor.
