For those who come through it

Save your applescript as an application, and then you can use

    App.System ("' open ' / path/to/script_as_an_app.app'" ");

    then everything works

  • AppleScript: How can I attach a script to an event?

I have an applescript script that create a PDF and upload to a specific destination. (see below)

I want to call this script whenever the user "saves" the doc.

I am a novice when it comes to applescripting InDesign... I don't know if its possible to attach a script to the function "Save"?

I guess I need to incorporate an event listener? Yet once, I guess. Perhaps there is a better way? attach the script to the command-s key combination?

the goal is to give the user the ability to send a PDF file, whenever they record a document.

Here's the script to this day:

    ......................

the _ExportPDF value (display dialog "sending proof?") with the icon warning buttons {'Cancel', 'PDF'} ( default 2)

    Tell application "Adobe InDesign CS6"

If the back button _ExportPDF is 'PDF' then

    Set myFolder ' PDFProofs:

the dest myFolder as text Unicode value

the value screenSettings PDF export preset "[high quality Print]."

Set page range of PDF export preferences to all pages

the docName document name value 1

If docName ends with ".indd" then

the docName text 1 thru-6 of docName value

    end if

    Tell application "Adobe InDesign CS6"

Export 1 document format type PDF to (dest & docName ".pdf") using the screenSettings without options

adapted from the document If active is true then

    say active document for Save

    close document 1

    end if

    (*

According to the PDF export preferences

See the PDF set to true

    tell the end

    *)

    tell the end

    end if

    tell the end

    ......................

    I thought about it.

an event listener must be placed in the folder of InDesign startup scripts

This script listening to Save events... more precisely: afterSave, afterSaveAs, afterSaveACopy

(he could listen for other events as well, but I'm only interested in recording after functions)

I wanted to start my upload PDF script after all these events... so the script was very simple

    Tell application "Adobe InDesign CS6"

    Set myEventNames to {"afterSave", 'afterSaveAs', 'afterSaveACopy'}

    Repeat with myEventName in myEventNames

    make the listener event with properties {event type: myEventName, handler: ' Macintosh HD:Applications:Adobe InDesign CS6:Scripts:Scripts Panel: Samples:AppleScript:PDFUpload.scpt '}

    end repeat

    tell the end

the path to my applescript PDFUpload = Manager

    one and done

  • $300 for 2 Photoshop/Illustrator-scripts Applescript Preffered

I had intended to write these myself for months, but have been too busy, so we try to hire someone.

We would prefer that these are mostly of Applescript, because I know Applescript and will be able to change or maintain, but we could consider all the Javascript if there is no pitting on Applescript.

Probably there are bits here that are not accessible to Applescript, that should be in Javascript. In my view, color overlays aren't in the dictionary of script and must be understood with listener script. It's fine, as long as it is necessary to call Javascript from an Applescript script. We want it to be Aplescript as much as possible.

If you are interested, please contact me:

    [personal information deleted by Moderator]

I guess if you're interested, you would like more information. We can provide sample files in the 'before' and finite state, talk or email with any questions, and I also have examples of certain stages of operation for benchmark scripts.

Here are the highlights of the two scripts:

Text 1: Assign the color overlay

    Overview:

This script will need to do the following in Adobe Photoshop. The script will run a command key.

    Script as follows:

    1. Ideally, read current shades on the shade palette in Photoshop. If it's a pain/impossible, then we are open to get this info also. We can save the information as a .csv or .txt and the script can load it comes from there.

2 when the script is run, it presents a dialog box with a list of the colors in the swatch palette. The user selects a color in the list.

    3. it applies the color chosen as a "Color overlay" layer effect to the currently selected layer. If the layer already has a color overlay effect, it updates to the selected color. The color overlay effect is applied to the blend mode 'screen '.

    4. he changed the name of the layer name of the color that was selected

Scenario 2: Save files and convert the Photoshop for Spot Color Raster EPS file

    Overview:

The script will save the active file to Photoshop in multiple copies in different ways put data into the Clipboard and then use Illustrator to convert one of the Photoshop files in a different format.

The file open when the script is run will always be a Photoshop file with layers, with the upper layers appointed by colors as specified by the ' Script above 1.» Files can have an arbitrary number of layers, but everything will be in this format:

    first layer [color name some]

arbitrary number of extra layers, each with color names

Shirt [<-this is a layer of solid color]

Art [<-this is a unique group containing arbitrary layers]

    Script as follows:

    1. the active file is saved to exactly as it is. When the script is run, it presents a backup dialog box. The operator selects the file location and name of the file record. I'll refer to this as "Save the file" script then will check to see if there is a 'Art' folder in the Save folder. If there is, it saves the file there. Otherwise, it creates the folder 'Art' and he saves it. If the file already exists, it will automatically replace and does not provide a dialogue on this subject.

2 another copy is saved by using "save for Web. The original file was at 300 dpi and this copy is taped bicubic down sampled at 72 dpi with the same dimensions in inches. Save settings are {JPEG high, progressive - optimized, off - on, Embed Color profile - off, quality - 72, blur - 0, Matte - none, convert it to sRGB - Yes} it has the same name as the first copy (excluding the file extension) and is saved in the Save folder.

    3. a flat art to the same dimensions but subsampled 18 dpi copy is placed in the Clipboard.

    4. an intermediate file for the conversion of the Illustrator is registered. This should probably be saved in a new folder in the folder Save called "intermediate files. This folder must be checked and created only if necessary. The file must have a scheme of naming as 'Intermediate file' & [existing file name]. This file is identical to file 1, except:

-the shirt layer and the art folder are deleted. This should probably be script to remove the layer named "shirt" and everything below it in the file.

-all overlays of color are removed (or off)

    5. close the file.

    6. open the intermediate file in Illustrator with the option "convert layers to Objects.

    7 select all

    8 Edition-> Edit colors-> convert to grayscale

9 do scroll through each layer one at a time and change the fill color in the shade of a swatchbook Illustrator open called 'Inks' current with the same name as the name of the layer.

To clarify this previous step, our artists will work off the coast of the same thing. ASE swatchbook color in Photoshop and Illustrator. In Photoshop, the colors of it. ASE will provide overlays of colors on layers. The file should be imported to Illustrator and have the same colors applied under the fill color raster objects that were Photoshop layers. The color information is conveyed from Photoshop to Illustrator through the layer names in Photoshop.

    10. save this file in the folder save as a. HERE with the same name and "c".

    11 remove the intermediate file.

  • Process of renaming with applescript/automator

    Hello

I need a workflow to automate or an applescript script that will look at a folder called 'Vidéos Finished'. When a video file (.mkv or .mp4) is added to this folder, please proceed as follows:

    1. Create a new folder in the folder «Finished videos»
    2. Rename the new folder in the same as the file that has been added (less the extension)
    3. Copy the file added in this new folder
    4. Delete the added file so it only exists in the new renamed folder.

Otherwise if it's easier, it would be ok if the new folder is created in a different folder of "destination". Also long video file ends upward in a folder named idental to himself.

No guest should be presented during the process. He needs run automataically.

Is it still possible? I hope someone can help :-)

    Kind regards

    Jesper

It's trivial and actually easier that involves your workflow.

It requires 2 steps, not 4:

1: create a folder with the same file name (without extension)

2: move the file to the new folder

The trickiest part is the extraction of the base name of the file (without the extension), but this should do the trick:

on Adding folder items to folder after receiving theNewItems

    Repeat with eachItem in theNewItems

the value theBaseName to my getBaseNameOf (eachItem)

    say application 'Finder '.

    the value theNewFolder to create a new folder to Folder with properties {name: theBaseName}

    pass to theNewFolder eachItem

    end say

    end Repeat

    end Adding folder items to

    on getBaseNameOf (thisItem)

    say application 'Finder '.

the value ext for name extension of thisItem

the value extLength to the number of characters in ext

the value n to characters 1 through -(extLength + 2) of (get the name of thisItem) as text

    end say

    n return

    end getBaseNameOf

  • AppleScript to create the thumbnail of the file selected with hyperlink to the URL of the file

    Hello

I need an AppleScript script to copy to the Clipboard a thumbnail of a selected file (s. picture 1 below) with a hyperlink to the URL of the selected file.

I have a script that allows me to get the URL of the file and copy it to the Clipboard. But then I have to paste the URL into my Document, back to the finder, make a screenshot of the thumbnail of the file, paste this screenshot and enter the URL (manually copy) of the file (choose the context menu of the image) (s. image 2 below):

Is there a way to automate this?

I could do the screenshot manually, this is actually no problem, but then I would need to attribute this screenshot on a Clipboard 1, go back and get the URL of the file and attribute it to Clipboard 2 and then go to my document and paste Clipboard 1 first, chose the menu popup "hyperlink" and the Clipboard paste 2.

I would be grateful for the help!

    Kai - Uwe,

OpenOffice or LibreOffice aren't outwardly scriptable with AppleScript or Automator, as to exclude these two applications that support. They are inwardly Python scriptable via their respective SDK.

I became aware of a solution of AppleScript that invites for the input file, then uses a custom (port) application that uses QuickLook to generate an image thumbnail jpg to your specified output destination. I added a line of AppleScript that sends the URL of the file to the Clipboard.

After running the script, I can paste the URL of the document in LibreOffice and follow by drag and drop the jpg thumbnail afterwards.

Do you want me to post the directions for this solution. In its current form, it is not written for processing batch.

  • AppleScript for numbers

    Hello

I have an AppleScript script that helps me generate a price list. Everything works fine but since an update, it behaves a little different.

When I started to use the script, it was very fast, staying in a datasheet, but since I updated my Mac (cannot say if it is a update or update OS X), it then passes between the two sheets in the script, which makes it really slow.

Anyone experienced this? Anyone who has a solution?

This is the script in question:

    Tell application "Numbers."

    activate

    tell document before

    say the sheet "Prislista.

    tell the table 1

the bredd_count value (count the columns)

    the hojd_count value (count lines)

bredd_start value 2 - to allow the column 1 header

the hojd_start value 3 - to allow 2 header lines

    Repeat with next_bredd of bredd_start to bredd_count

Repeat with next_hojd of hojd_start of (hojd_count - 1)-to note in the bottom row

the value hojd value of cell line next_hojd 1

a value of cell 2 of column next_bredd bredd have thong

If bredd contains "-" then the value text-3 thru-1 of bredd bredd

Define bredd to (bredd as integer)

the value taken my get_price (bredd, hojd)

value of the cell line next_hojd in PRI next_bredd

    end repeat

    end repeat

    tell the end

    tell the end

    tell the end

display alert "list price recalculated!" give up after 20

    tell the end

    on get_price (bredd, hojd)

    Tell application "Numbers."

    tell document 1

    say the sheet "taken."

    tell the table 'matt '.

the value of cell "A2" bredd

the value of cell "B2" hojd

    tell the end

has taken value of cell "B3" from "Taken" table

    tell the end

    tell the end

    tell the end

    end get_price

Could you post a screenshot of the two tables?  That would make the problem easier to diagnose.

Wayne explains how to post a screenshot here.

  • SED to delete a recording in applescript

I'm trying to use sed in an Applescript script to delete a specific record number. When I enter a number for the registration number it works perfectly, but I would use a computed variable. I tried all kinds of escape characters and cited but forms cannot operate, all advice would be welcome.

the value filePath to quoted form of "/ users/bear/Documents/cats cats Cats/Protection/CP copy.csv.

    game recNo in 3

    the shell script "sed-i------"------"'recNo d'" & filePath - remove line number ".

    The following will work:

the value filePath to quoted form of "/ users/bear/Documents/cats cats Cats/Protection/CP copy.csv.

    game recNo in 3

the value sed_del to the quote "d" & recNo & space & quote

    the shell script "sed-i------"------"" & sed_del & filePath - remove line number ".

  • AppleScript search / replace in Excel sheet text Document

I'm new on Applescript and I'm trying to create a script that can browse a document text (.html) and find and replace different phrases with a corresponding cell in an Excel document.

I'll put placeholders in the text to be replaced like B_1 (first value to replace), B_2 (second), B_3 etc...

They must be replaced in order using the cells B1-B9 in the Excel document. Phrases in the Excel document will be changed each time, so why it must be dynamic to capture them rather than a standard find & replace the script with static values.

    I followed this thread that everything is logical:https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7008048?start=0 & tstart = 0

However, I continue to run into compile errors. Here is my current code:

tell application "Microsoft Excel" set colB_data to value of every cell of range "B1:B9" of worksheet 1 of document 1 end tell tell application "Sublime Text" tell text of "Users/maxquinn/Desktop/index.html" repeat with index from 1 to count colB_data replace ("B_" & index as text) using (item index of colB_data) options {starting at top:true, match words:true} end repeat end tell end tell

The first half works fine, but the second half gives me error "Expected end of line but found identifier." and highlights the 'using' in the 'replace' command (line 8) .

Anyone know why this could be and is there any other glaring error in the script?

    Thank you!

    Max

Restructure your AppleScript in the Apple Script Editor (then do not peer in a continuous line of code) and then paste here using the Advanced Editor. Then select all the posted AppleScript and in the Style menu, choose paragraph. Now, your code is readable (hopefully) to us.

The second point. Sublime text does not include any AppleScript script definition, so you can not handle it with AppleScript.

TextEdit is scriptable, and probably you want in plain text rather than rich text (RTF) mode.

  • AppleScript Variable error

    Hi all

I'm writing an applescript script which is called with a variable and then use that variable in the script. For example:

You just need to provide multiple ways to call your manager, for example:

on run -- application double-clicked or run from the Script Editor
      set d to choose folder
      _main({d})
    end run

on open droppedItems -- items dropped onto droplet
      _main(droppedItems)
    end open

on adding folder items to this_folder after receiving these_items -- folder action
      _main(these_items)
    end adding folder items to

    on _main(argv) -- main routine
      -- whatever
    end _main

  • AppleScript file trigger

Hi, I am creating an automation of service where a file is transmitted in an applescript script. However, I am fighting to get applescript to pronounce on the file. I think that I've defined a variable evil or something.

I think I need to change the part that says: 'file' but don't know what to take?

Applescript to open the file in PDFPenPro, then the PDF OCR.

You eliminated the input of the Applescript action variable. The execution handler takes two parameters. The thing passed in is stored in the input parameter.

In addition, if you want to be able to right-click on a file and act accordingly, render a Service that receives the files and folders in the Finder.
