'Application data' should the folder there be 21 of them?

I had some problems with the installation of a game. I did some searching via Windows Explorer and found in the folder "ProgramData" 21 copies of the Application Data folder. Each one inside the other. This cannot be normal. What can cause this and how do I get rid of all these files?

    Hello

Start Windows Explorer, and then see if there is a drive letter assigned for access to the
drive. If this is not the case, check if the disc is shown in disk management.

    1. Open Computer Management by clicking on the button start , by clicking on Control Panel, system and security, clicking Administrative Tools and then double-click computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the left pane, under storage, click Disk Management.

If there has made a right click option - assign a drive letter for you can use Windows
    Explorer to copy files.

    I hope this helps.

  • Transfer of application data (in the XP of Document settings) to Vista

    • I just got the new Dell with Vista and wanted to copy the mail Thunderbird profile (contain all previous emails) which was located in the Application Data folder (in Document settings) of my previous XP on the new computer Vista. Of course, it is very important for me to get Thunderbird running in the new PC. I can't locate the Application Data folder in Vista to do. Is that someone can help me to locate the location of the "Application Data" folder in Vista or maybe new name of the folder that the Thunderbird profile is run in Windows Vista?

Application data is located in C:\Users\Change Data.  You may need to show hidden and system files go to start / Control Panel / folder Options / View / and check the button to see the system and hidden files.  I don't know if this is where Thunderbird is headed as I am not familiar with this program.  Please post if it does not help and I will refer you to a forum where they can potentially help you with the installation of Thunderbird and to transfer old data at the same time so what is expected here does not work.

Your best bet to transfer files and settings from XP to Vista is to use Easy Transfer.  You will need to re - install Thunderbird and all your other programs as there is no way to transfer programs from one computer to another (even with 3rd-party programs) without the help of an upgrade installation (which is not possible in this case).  Here are the procedures: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Migrating-Vista-using-Windows-Easy-Transfer.html and here is another article that may be useful (it covers more than a simple easy transfer but if you scroll down the article you will come to this article and it is very informative): http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc748915 (WS.10) .aspx.

    I hope this helps.

  • Can I use Win Xp setup application, found in the folder "I386"?

It is possible, to reinstall win xp using the configuration file is located in the I386 folder on my hard drive, he asks a cab1 file, but I can't that assume it has only been extracted as a load of files with the last letter of their file name replaced by an underscore, if not is there a way to reinstall from the CD of restoration without reformatting and recreate the partition on my hard drive >

    Hi Ewan

If you have your data on the second partition, in this case they will not be deleted. Installation of recovery will format the C partition and operating system will be installed all the drivers, tools and utilities.

As Miro wrote already be very careful. If you use the option to create a new partition will be formatted in the space of entire disk. In my opinion, you must save your sensitive data on CD or DVD to be sure you won't lose them if something is wrong.

  • Changed the registry key for AppData Application data under the guidance of Adobe. Now lost models, smart tags etc.

    Hello everyone

My Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro died today. I have "instant chat" with the support of Adobe. They asked me to change my registry key in Windows (I use XP) data from app to App Data. Now my Acrobat works fine, but I lost all THE other parameters. This includes:

My preferences in all adobe CS (including layouts of pallet etc.)

    My Outlook e-mail footer

More importantly, my tags in Outlook.

These are just the programs I used in the last hours. I can't figure out how to get all these programs to point to App Data. I'm not a COMPUTER expert.

    Thanks in advance!

    Terri

It is a group of Vista so your talk to people who have not used XP in
    years.

If my memory is correct AppData (the record) was invented in Vista
and XP should be Application Data (Vista compatibility for XP
programs that use Application data it redirecting to AppData without the
    program to know).

    If you have changed
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell folders it was stupid advice from Adobe. Change it back. If it was a
different key can validate return which key it is.

  • Shortcuts repeated unwanted "Application Data" in the data Username\Appdata\Local\Application

    1. when I click on Appdata\Local I get a list of folders, including Application data

    2. when I click on this folder, I get a single file listed: a shortcut to the Application data.

    3. when I click on this shortcut, I get complete records (data of Application Inc.) list that I saw under Local as in 1)

    4. by clicking on the folder Application Data can give me a little cut again and so on it goes!

In the top of my Explorer I "Mike/Appdata/Local/Application Data/Application/Application Data / Application Data data/Application Data / etc etc and it just keeps going - how long? I'm not sure.

How can I fix it, because it just stupid! -I don't know how it got like that, and despite the purchase Win7 Pro (not cheap) and the use of 64 worm I don't get no MS support user for a product that is not perfect... unless I pay more!.

    Hello

    Step 1:

Check if the same phenomenon occurs in another user account. To create a new user account, follow the link below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-user-account

    Step 2:

If the new user account works fine then the old account has been corrupted, you can follow the link given below to fix the corrupted user profile.

  • Some applications store data in the folder my documents...

Is it possible to transfer the files resulting to my library folder or to a single folder off the beaten path?

Otherwise, I guess I could create my own 'My Documents' folder.

Some programs store information in the Documents folder. Some may be moved and others not. If you do not want a mixture, then you should probably create your own 'My Documents' folder.

Yes. This screen is available only after a deletion.

  • Missing EXIF data in the folder "Images".

I transfer my photos from my Canon camera to the default photos folder. OK so far.

Each subfolder (for example, 2009_06_29) that contains the images is accessible by clicking on it. The images are displayed as icons (mini photo). OK so far.

When I single click on a photo, the data used to appear at the bottom of the screen in its own component, that is, shooting date, the manufacturer of the camera, lens used, Aperture, speed of shutter, comments, title, etc. etc.

For some reason, this vital information is therefore more accessible.

Is anyone know why - it please?

    Thank you, Chris.

I don't know that you were using either the software that displays the news but
If you right click on a photo and choose... Properties Summary / tab.
Advanced button... you can see the EXIF info.

Free software IrfanView can also display additional info by going to...

  • Transparent encryption of the application data in the CARS

    Hi gurus,

    AIX - 6.1
    Oracle 11 g RAC 2

I created a portfolio on node 1 and copied (scp) on the other node cluster and closed the wallet and re-opened, but only one instance a portfolio opened not theother.

When I try to open it on another instance, it closes on the first. How can I make the portfolio opened on the two instance.

If I have to start over again what I have to do is to close out of the wallet the wallet file and create a new portfolio, correct? Its new database without data on it again.

    SQL > alter open to set system portfolio identified by 'pwd ';

    Modified system.

    SQL > select INST_ID select, status of gv$ encryption_wallet;

    INST_ID SELECT STATUS
    ---------- ------------------
    1 CLOSED
    2. OPEN

But I am able to query that data from these two instances... even with the wallet close to a single node.

    Is this behavior?

Please help me solve this problem...

    Thank you

In GR 11, 2, it is recommended to put the Oracle Wallet in a file system shared at the top of the ASM, called ACFS. If this is not possible, just bounce node 2 and you are ready, your portfolios will be synchronized.

This and more in my book updated TDE best practices, published Friday, last week:

  • I have windows MediaPlayer 11 downloaded but in the folder, there are other versions of WMP files. is this normal? as microsoft it reports errors. What can I do to fix this?

I run windows xp pro sp3

    Hello

Can you define what are these files?
If they are former security patches and the new update covers the same questions, you can simply delete them.
If its media then check if you have another copy of each file and then deletes those that do.
If they are previous versions of the program "windows media player" its up to you if you want to keep or uninstall them.
I suspect that it is a bug.
  • Copies nested in the Application Data folder

Running Windows 7 64 bit.  In my c:\Documents and Settings\All Users folder there is a folder of application data.  If I develop this folder I find what appears to be a complete copy of all the 'All Users' files, including another folder "Application Data".  If I develop this folder, I get another copy of everything, including (guess youe), "data Applications.  Extend only one, same thing... That's at least 27 levels.  What's happening?

    Bill

    Hello TucsonBill,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Forum!

    (a) are you referring to the application data folder?

However we have folder AppData is hidden and Documents and settings can be found on the command prompt.

Try to run an online virus scan to remove the malware running on the computer, please scan online by visiting the following link:

    http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

In Windows Vista and Windows 7, the local settings and Application data have been replaced by a single folder, % userprofile%\AppData\Local.

In order to accomplish the appropriate redirection, you need two junctions:

    (1) a junction of local settings, which will transmit programs going
%USERPROFILE%\Local settings in the new folder.

    (2) the junctions of an Application Data * inside the new folder * that points to itself, to get the programs to access the data in % userprofile%\LocalSettings\Application.

If you think about it, it makes sense... when the program accesses local parameters, it will get passed in the folder, it should be in, however, it also accesses a folder named Application Data * in the correct folder it needs * (since it has already been redirected by the junction of local settings), so the junction of Application data should point to itself that things are working properly.

I suggest you check the security settings on your Application data junction (C:\users\yourname\appdata\local) (you will need to select display operating system files in folder options in Explorer window).

Go to the Security tab, click Advanced, then change and make sure that you see a refuse permission for everyone on the list.

If it is not a list, create a 'all' and check the box under Deny next of ' read the file / data list.

I hope this information helps. Please get back to us if you have any other questions on this subject.

    Thanks and greetings

ORIGINAL TITLE: I use Windows xp.

I use Windows xp. In Windows Explorer. A dated file say 12/02/2000. When you click the folder, the files in the folder bear different date. Why is it so. To update the files, we should see the dates of the files instead of the dates of the folder. right? Why is there such a difference?

My copy of Windows XP works the same as yours.  Apparently the date folder is not updated when the content is, that fact make some sense as the folder itself is not updated when new content is created in the it.
