  • After installing the Windows SP3 does not open.

I have a laptop Sony Vio running Windows XP Home Edition. Last week I tried to update from SP2 to SP3. After about 2 hours, it was at the point of file cleanup. After a time to shout a message came uo 'Please Wait'. I waited all night, and the message was always there in the morning. I restarted the computer and now Windows wilol is not open. He turns the splash screen and then the screen turns blank ever opening in the icon screen. When I try to start safe mode it runs a number of lines if information and where he had reached the end of one line info nothing happens. I tried to boot in a security 3 with the same resunts mode. Tried running in the final Condition to work with the same results - Windows startup screen runs then screen turns white and screen icon never opens. I have makes the system, Application and Driver Recovery CD. That SP3 could have done to create this condition? No idea how to fix ths situation without losing me any files - images Woed docs etc.? Any help would be greatly appreicated.

At this point, your main goal should be to backup all your files from user data that you can from your [no bootable] machine.  I find that a good way to do it is to this is to use another machine to create free Linux Livecd such as Knoppix or Ubuntu (if you use Ubuntu, do not install but use instead "Try Me").  You do this by downloading an .iso file and then use the "burn image" of your program of CD burning to create the bootable CD/DVD.  You can now start your laptop from this CD and Linux will allow that access you your hard disk without disturbing anything on this subject.  You can then copy off and back up your data on a USB stick or a network drive files.

Once your files are safely backed up, you can then reinstall Windows using the recovery disks you have.

    Knoppix: http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html>
    Ubuntu: <> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download >

Recovery CD Windows are also a possibility but more effort involved to create the CD.  Such a disc is "BartPE".

  • Windows 7 does not open the windows in the taskbar. The content seems to be displayed off the screen

Windows 7 does not open the windows in the taskbar. The content seems to be displayed off the screen. It started after the uninstall of Registry Mechanic and PC Tools, but this cannot be bound. IE 9 seems to be particularly affected. So do not display all of the windows that show on the taskbar.

Use the Windows logo key & left arrow several times for each windows application through their positions until they appear on the screen.

This problem is normally reported after someone used an external monitor as the applications try to open in the same position they had when they were last open - so if there was an external monitor last time now disconnected, they will try to open it in the middle of nowhere.

I know not, or the other tools that you mention, but if they are registry cleaners then they could also affect other parts of your system.

  • Windows 8 tiles not opening

I tried everything above except for run "CMD" because when I right click I don't have the ability to run as an administrator. Still can not solve the problem.

The problem with their directions is that it takes you to the Office window for running the CMD prompt which does not give you the "Run as Administrator" option.  You must go through the side of the metro.  Click on Windows + C to open the charms on the right panel and select "search".  In research applications, type "cmd" and then when you see "Command Prompt" in the list box on the left, right-click on it and select 'Run as administrator' at the bottom of the screen.  You then use the sfc/scannow.

This is the second time I went through not having this problem... and I got this machine Win 8 only about 1.5 years.  The first tiles stopped working and I couldn't go to the store to update the applications or to update to 8.1... nothing else in Windows has been updated either.  After trying all the tips that I could find that I had to just erase it and restored to the original and start again at ground zero... she sucked!  I didn't go far to 8,1 because I was worried about restore points would not work... now, it seems that I have to go through the process of finding a solution again.  I had hoped they would have solved this problem now.

This problem might have occurred because of these reasons:

    1. Corrupt the App Store.
    2. Incorrect settings App.

I suggest to try the procedure described in the article to reregister the App Store and check if that helps.

So I've recently refreshed my laptop running Windows 8.1 and after refresh, he returned to windows 8. But now all gone metro apps and windows store does not open. When I click it, nothing happens.

I tried various fixes, nothing worked! Help, please! My main concern is to upgrade to windows 10!  Right now I'm stuck with windows 8

    Hi Alain,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

When you do a Refresh: Applications that you have installed Web sites and DVD is deleted. The applications provided with your PC and applications that you have installed in the Windows store will be resettled. Windows puts a list of apps removed on your desktop after you refresh your PC.

Because you want to upgrade to Windows 10, first, you need to update to Windows 8.1 of Windows 8 and then you can switch to Windows 10 Windows 8.1.

Please refer to: Update Windows 8.1 of Windows 8

Once you have updated Windows 8 to 8.1 Windows, please see the following article in order to upgrade to Windows 10 Windows 8.1.

  • Error "the application"Steam.app"is not open more."

I use Steam to play games, I recently installed Trove which began to hang Steam (and not run) rarely when I clicked on the play button.

Sometimes, when Steam closes (or hangs in my case), when I try to open it again, it gives me an error "the application"Steam.app"is not open more.". It can be fixed by restarting, but it's boring and useless. How can I fix it?

Restart the computer in safe mode. Some caches maintained by the system will be rebuilt.

Safe mode is much slower to start up as normal. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

If you use no FileVault 2 in OS X 10.7 ("Lion") or later version, you can restart as usual (not in safe mode) when the login screen appears. There is no need to log on in safe mode.

If you use FileVault 2 in OS X 10.11 ("El Capitan") or later version, or if you don't know if use you it, you as usual then connect in safe mode, and then restart (not in safe mode.)

If you use FileVault 2 in OS X 10.9 ("Swat") or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you cannot start in safe mode. In this case, request further instructions.

Hello guys, I installed Windows which was not original and now it's not true, I do not know the product key and I want to activate how?

If the edition installed does not match the edition, you have a product key because it will not activate.

If you have a product key for the specific edition installed, try the phone activation:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".
