Apply local security policy to an another Win XP

Can I just copy the secpol.msc since a Win XP to an another Win XP in order to overwrite the target XP local security policy settings?

A better approach would be to use ' secedit/Export' and ' secedit/import ".

For more information:

Start-> Help and Support-> Type "Secedit" in the "Search" window, press return
Click on "Secedit" in the result window.

  • No shortcut for the Microsoft local security policy, can not find in administrative tools (Control Panel)... Even after several updates.

Hi, I've updated my Windows XP all current updates. But I still need this local security policy.

Is there a specific link for this download, or should I look elsewhere - other than the administrative tools?

Windows XP Home Edition is not local security policy.  This requires Windows XP Professional.

What should you change?  There could be another way to do it.

  • How to find local security policy

    Hello

I want to find a solution so that (2Brightsparks software) Synback let me create a scheduled task that allows empty passwords, which it does not now. I am running Win 7 x 64 Home Premium and I get the error:

0x8007052f: connect by mistake: account restriction. Possible reason could be that empty passwords not allowed.

They refer to the local security policy to make the change:

"If you receive the error message" error message: user account restriction error ", you must then:

-In Windows Vista, select start-> Control Panel

-Switch to the view classes (left)

    -Double-click the Administrative Tools icon

-Double-click on the element of local security policy

-Navigate to security settings-> local policies-> Security Options

-Double-click on the accounts of the order of the day: limit the use of local account passwords empty to console logon only

-A window will appear. Select the disabled option, and then click OK.

-Close the local security policy window.

    Thanks for any help!

Thank you, however, I was able to run ancillary Syncback in Vista and 7 before empty password (because I'm a single user and a password need not) so this may not be the case. Y at - it may be a misunderstanding?

Yet once, how to find local security to 7 Home Premium strategy, if possible?

Please post your method in case you manage to run a scheduled task under an account with a blank password.

Windows 7 Home Premium lacks a policy editor. You can duplicate many of its operations by hacking the registry directly, using this large worksheet as a guide:

  • Where is the "local security policy"? Locking password.

    Hi all

This was the case when I used XP I could the action of what happens when you enter the password to logon incorrectly a number of times.

The local security policy (LSP), took place in Control Panel under administrative tools.  When I look upward, "what are administrative tools" in the "help and support", Win8 the FSA is mentioned, but in reality he resides in all administrative tools.

    Thus,.

. The removed LSP Control Panel on purpose; He lives somewhere else?

. The computer hangs if I get the password too often?

. If so, how many times.

. Can I change the number of times?

(Please give back me my local security policy.)

  • Unlock the local security policy

I have a laptop Pro Win 7 x 64 - Home Premium upgrade - and it seems a previous user (no longer exists) set different security policies, including the length of the password, complexity, etc., that I am unable to change.

I can log on as an administrator, to create new users, etc, but when I got to the strategy of local security, security settings, account policies and local policies have the symbol 'lock' next to them and I am unable to change the settings.

I have disabled AV, tried in vain to start safe mode (it stops altogether at drivers.sys).   Thank you.

Yes, but I'm sure the VPNed employee at some point which could have installed these policies.

  • Access local security policy in Windows 7 Home Premium

How can I access local security policies in Windows 7 Home Edition Premium, it is even available in this version?  My default account is an administrator account, but there is still so much that I get ACCESS DENIED errors on. The UAC is low in this version and really doesn't help at all. Am I missing something obvious here?

(Panel of-> system and security-> administrative tools):

You should see him there. When you get that access denied and click right on that never - what gives you that and see if there is an option that says run as long as administrator, and then run, as the value default windows 7 Administrator account disable but associated with the admin user.

  • What happens if a password or authorization is required for a "interactive logon to the local security for domain policy or..?

I use a pc at home on my wireless router which is password protected.  Under the local security policy, if enable password to access interactive domain requirement, what happens?  [Activate: interactive logon: requires authorization by domain controller...] I block someone tries to access my pc via a domain or I will block my access?  I use windows 8 and windows 7 HP, (different PC)

    Hi Laurie,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

According the information you have provided, I understand that you need information about the interactive logon to the local security for the domain policy. I will certainly give you with this information.

Logon information must be provided to unlock a locked computer. For domain accounts, this security setting determines whether a domain controller must be contacted to unlock a computer. If this setting is disabled, a user can open the computer using cached credentials. If this setting is enabled, a domain controller must authenticate the domain account used to unlock the computer.
