  • Change the pointer to the ListItemData for a ListView

    I have a ListView and a ListItemComponent with a StandardListItem which is currently a local source of Json data.

    I would like to be able to actively change the ListItemData pointer so that I can change the information displayed by my ListView.

         ListView {
                id: myListView
                dataModel: dataModel

                listItemComponents: [
                    ListItemComponent {
                        id: listStyles
                        type: "item"
                        StandardListItem {
                            title: ListItemData.name
                            description: ListItemData.description
                        }
                    }
                ]
            } // end of ListView

    Looking at the code above, I would change "description: ListItemData.description ' to ' description: ListItemData.status.

    Is this possible? And how would I go to change this? I tried using variants of the property but without any luck so far

    OK, so reuse a single Page, but change the content to adjust the data in the model. Not on a basis of point by point, but just as a 'global '. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

    You could do that. I think there are better ways, but as I probably wouldn't try to do optimization that you apparently, I won't try making it "perfect". Feel free to experiment more. :-)

    // in file SwitchablePage.qml
    import bb.cascades 1.0

    Page {
        property alias useDescA: theListView.useDescA

        Container {
            ListView {
                id: theListView
                property bool useDescA: true

                listItemComponents: [
                    ListItemComponent {
                        id: listStyles
                        type: "item"
                        StandardListItem {
                            title: ListItemData.name
                            description: ListItem.view.useDescA ? ListItemData.descA : ListItemData.descB
                        }
                    }
                ]
        ...

    // in file which uses the page
    ...

        SwitchablePage {
            useDescA: false // use descB instead
        }

    He took advantage of the somewhat ugly way in which a ListItemComponent can "reach out" in the ListView and access its properties.  Note If you had a custom list item, I think you really need yet another root property on the element in this document, to reach out to the list.  I have the page "reached in ' to the list with an alias property, but you might as well put the property on the page, then have ListView 'out reach' reference with a property alias (for example the property alias useDescA: pageId.useDescA), but it is the same thing I can say.

    I reconsidérerais why you try to do this, but... If it's for performance reasons, I'll make sure that I had measured the impact carefully before going to this effort. I doubt an extra page in another file .qml going to be noticeable by almost any measure, but you could also switch between ListView in a single page or just have several list types ListItemComponent (type for example: 'useDescA' vs type: 'useDescB') and switch between them on this basis. (This would require to implement an itemType() function in the ListView, which would then just return 'useDescA' or 'useDescB', based on some properties.)  This approach looks cleaner in many ways.

  • Random text boxes disappeared

    Hello

    I have an InDesign document with about 280 pages in it. Text suddenly boxes randomly on the pages disappeared. It's not like the text block is always there either, the whole frame and the text has disappeared.

    Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 23.34.15.png

    Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 23.34.44.png

    On the first screengrab you can see how the home page has all of his text, but the next page only has his cap. It's random act that disappears is inserted in the last 40 pages of the document.

    What of weird, is that when I try to move the pink image on the page with the text missing the size of changes in direction as a whole. Yet, if I move the image of the light bulb on the page above which has not been affected everything works normally!

    What continues? I think its some kind of glitch, he is now deleted in such a way that I was able to manually in the text boxes on more than 30 pages. This document in the direction of my university degree I need solve the problem.

    Matt

    I was able to take a quick look, and I have good news. I've seen this before, and it is recoverable.

    Your text is still there, but there is only one kind of bug which casuses blocks of text to become large and unselectable infinitley using the usual methods. However, if you place a sprad with a problem and issuing the Cmd + a cammonad to select all, then press and hold e eth Shift button and disable everything that you see on the spread, the text block will remain selected. You can then press Cmd-Y to access the history editor, copy the text and close the story editor windows and press BACKSPACE or delete to delte the existing framework. Now draw a new frame where it belongs and paste the text.

    The graphic elements that have disappeared can probably also be selected in the same way and should be removed and replaced.

    I looked at the file history and noted two things: the file crashed and was recovered on March 25 (probably when the damage began), and you have not updated version 8.0.2 ID. Run the update before you do more work, then try my suggestions on a copy. If successful, export this file to .idml as a "belt and Suspenders" approach to clean, and then save it under a new name (do not overwrite the original file) and continue to work with that one.

  • Automatic placement with IDML

    I am writing a VB program to convert a text file to an IDML file. I started by generating a a page, page 8-1/2 "x 11 in InDesign with 1" margins on all four sides. I have a block of text on this page. I saved the file to the IDML format, unzipped with package.bat and use this set of files XML as a model, where I basically replace the file in the history with the file converted in my program and then he zip with package.bat to create a new IDML file.

    What I have a problem, namely is how automatic text formatting. I added the following attributes to the element TextPreference in Preferences.xml:

    AutoPageDeletion = "true" AutoPageInsertion = "AtEndOfStory" EnableDynamicAutoflow = "true".

    However, they do not seem to do anything. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    As the said substances, these settings are applied just like document preferences. So, if you were to open your IDML document in InDesign, and then importing text, he would obey the settings that you had specified.

    However, if you want to succeed with your strategy, you need to be responsible for creating additional pages, as well as blocks of text through which history must elapse. It may be easier to say that since your process may not easily be able to determine how many additional pages is necessary.

    You might consider a script approach to 'clean up' the document once it is finally open in InDesign or InDesign Server...

  • Migrate data every upgrade since OS9, should I perform a clean installation of El Capitan?

    Basically, this is my question. I feel I have to do some digital cobwebs in the corners of the realm of hard drive that I want to erase but don't want to do it if it will have no impact. Would also like seeing old cache, cookies etc. younder age stuff when I wasn't such that squeaky clean individual removed and start-up costs. Is this a good idea or even possible?

    Me too.  Rule OS9.2 and OS10.6.  I'm still waiting for another decent system.

    Anyway, on your questions.  I'm not a warrior code, but I think there are three approaches for an upgrade or the transition to a new machine:

    Use the migration wizard.

    Clone the original system, then apply the upgrade.

    Start from scratch and copy your data across.

    Some have limits depending on the vintage of the machine and the system.  I tested all three and has not noticed any difference.

    If you really want to go back to use the last option, but you will have to set up all your preferences tool bar and there are a thousand little annoyances during the first week.

    I suggest that you stick with migration and then use something like Northern Cache Cleaner App to clean the cobwebs: http://www.northernsoftworks.com/elcapitancachecleaner.html

    There are also some Onyx but I have not tested, but others on this forum (before it became deserted) used in favor it.

    I wonder where everyone went?  Its been a while I was here.

  • I have problem after cleaning LCD on my SP U200

    Hello

    I have the following problem with my U200. I regularly clean my monitor with LCD cleaner foam. But due to some reason, the foam has penetrated the monitor, seems to be between the trubrit and LCD. Because of the experience, I think that it wasn't my fault.

    For me is the sealing between the trubright and LCD that have the problem. Now, the monitor has some dirt that is to say that the froth evaporates.
    The guys at Toshiba insist it's my fault.
    Anyone before this show with its monitor? What has been your Toshiba service center approach?

    Best regards
    Pantelis

    Hello Pantelis

    Please don't be crazy on me, but I believe also that it is your fault and you can't call for replacement of view covered by the warranty. I cleaned the LCDs much over the past 7 years and I never noticed anything like that. I really can't imagine how much liquid you used to clean the LCD screen.

    It must be done very carefully and the liquid should be administered as necessary. Sorry, but I see no solution here. Maybe the LCD disassembly and cleaning can help. Try to talk to the technicians.

  • Start A60 after cleaning of the ATI drivers problem

    Hi, as the vast part of PC Toshiba laptop with ATI card users installed, I had been experiencing problems with the "blue screen", "recurring loop." Look for example at http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=9411&messageID=33486#33486

    I tried different approaches and managed to reduce it to crashing weekly or biweekly. I must have stopped improving, but has decided to never happen and found somewhere a radical solution: to wipe completely all traces of ATI drivers by some driver cleaner, restart and install brand new from ground zero. Well, he stopped boot at all. Normally, in 'the last working configuration', or 'safe mode '... It gives for an instant Windows logo glitters even more short with a blue screen and goes immediately to restart...

    Is there anything I can do about it without reinstalling Windows and losing my data?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Dimitri

    Connect the HARD drive to the other PC (using the USB HDD) and try to copy all the data to the main PC.
    Replace the portable HARD drive and preinstall the operating system using the recovery media.

    On this way you will have own OS and save your time and nerves.

    Good bye

    I need help to wipe my Hard Drive clear. I would like to completely reinstall Windows XP.

    I currently have a virus that requires my computer to start with fees o/s. My computer is completely glogged with virus & spyware.
    I have Norton, however, does not reach the internet for update/save.

    Can anyone give me directions or the best approach to wipe my hard drive of Windows XP to reinstall total?
    I have already tried several times to re - install Windows XP, the current operating system. The current setting of the o/s has XP service Pack 3.

    Thank you

    Sircas

    Hello

    You can format with Windows itself during installation. You can also format with other software like Acronis driver cleaner, Partition magic, East-Tec DisposeSecure create a bootable media. I use them when I want to perform a low-level format, they are shareware, but you can find in Google how to activate the. You can also do a free search utility

    Hello plantingrichard, first of all, it would be useless to worry about Firmware updates, because data for these Firmware updates are stored in the devices that the firmware has been installed for.

    You may be able to restore the system with the feature of restoration of HP Recovery from the hard drive to the system startup and the F - 11 key when the HP Logo screen. Just as it was when shipped, it would put all HP applications on the system.

    You can then use the Vista DVD disk and perform an inplace of Windows Vista SP1 upgrade.

    If you don't want all HP applications, you can perform a new installation of Vista.

    You may be able to locate the Vista SP2, but I suggest the Windows Update site and download and install all updates including Vista SP2.

    If you have a DVD of Vista SP2, you can use it to upgrade or new installation. The Vista SP2 would have included in the DVD of Vista SP2 SP1 updates.

    As you suggest, it will take some time to complete, but you'd probably have a more stable system using this approach.

  • cleaning multithreaded DLL

    Hi all

    I'm building a small DLL (for use from matlab) for acquisition of data. One of the functions may take several hours: streaming over 1 million samples in a file. So for this particular function, I want (read: I'm trying) to run it as a background operation in a separate thread. After reading a quick guide OR the multi-threading I selected the following:

    -Start streaming function

    * start a new async timer, which calls every second ProcessSystemEvents all detached CVI callbacks are executed

    * start the new pool of threads for maximum 1 wire and the highest (but not time critical) priority

    * Schedule streaming function for this pool (once again with a priority higher but non-emergency)

    specification of the cleaning function to be run in the current thread after completing the function continuous

    -reminder async-timer run ProcessSystemEvents every second post CVI callbacks are executed

    -cleaning function

    * Release the function ID from thread pool

    * Throw the thread pool

    * Take async-timer

    -State function which can be used from the main thread (still available at the matlab prompt) to check the status of the streaming

    The beginning of the broadcast (simulated with a countdown of the meter) goes well

    I can retrieve the status that goes from kCmtThreadFunctionExecuting to kCmtThreadFunctionComplete.

    However, the function of cleaning - as specified in the service scheduling - is never started.

    Q1: what did I wrong that prevents the scheduled cleaning?

    Q2: are there different approaches/examples that don't just want I want?

    Thanks in advance, Jos

    Hello again,

    It seems that the solution is as simple as the cause.

    -J' I create a pool of threads of high priority and program a priority acquisition function. Planning is done with CmtScheduleThreadPoolFunctionAdv. I do not use the option for a reminder at the end of this threadfunction.

    -A second more later (or in the service of acquiring) I schedule a cleaning of normal priority in DEFAULT_THREAD_POOL_HANDLE. Planning is done with CmtScheduleThreadPoolFunction. Inside this function, I wait until the acquisition thread is finished: CmtWaitForThreadPoolFunctionCompletion

    -Because all these functions are to 'demand' the original calling function returns. I get the prompt matlab for other tasks.

    I have to check what expectation-statement requires less processing for example power CmtWaitForThreadPoolFunctionCompletion or delay with the State Audit.

    But I have already seen that this combination:

    -start the acquisition in a high priority thread pool

    -then release the assignment of function and removes the high priority pool

    -During this time I had the back guest matlab and can run another task

    Thanks to everyone for their contribution, Jos

  • My approach to local variables...

    I want to hear comments on this approach.

    I create a relatively large program, and I want to use offscreen indicators / controls as "local variables".

    I think having that in a cluster - typedef, called "local variables", which I can then fitting differnet of VI and it cleans up the code a bit (but adds above makes it less clear what is happening).

    You guys/girls think this approach?

  • How can I clean my files?

    I do not have a disk, how do I clean the files that I have to get rid of to speed up my laptop? Brand "Lenovo"?

    Can someone help me please?

    Susan

    What version of Windows do you have?

    A better program of disk cleanup is cCleaner. cCleaner comes with a registry tool. Do not use this tool as any registry cleaner could lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors.
    http://www.CCleaner.com/download

    1.9. When you open cCleaner you will see four large icons to the left of the window. Here's cleaner them, registry, tools, and Options. For routine maintenance, you normally acceding Cleaner (this is not the mentioned registry cleaner later). When using for the first time only, you can accept the default settings.

    1.10. some observations on the parameters. On my computer, I do not have the boxes before the passwords saved selected. In a less secure environment, you could check this option and set cCleaner to run automatically when the computer starts. You also cannot check the boxes in front of shortcuts from the Start Menu, desktop shortcuts and historical form. You must check the boxes according to your needs. Bad first time options causes irritating no disasters.

    1.11. the second icon that you see when you open cCleaner's registry. A reserve many experienced users have about cCleaner, it's that it comes with a registry cleaner. This tool should not be used. By using a registry cleaner, but it is the case, provides significant benefits and there is always the risk of creating insoluble system errors, which cannot be resolved by reinstalling the operating system and all that that implies. You will avoid any possible problem of not not by clicking on the Save icon.

    1.12 the third icon that you see when you open cCleaner is tools. If you click this icon, it gives you access a routine plus service options. The first two tools are uninstalled and commissioning. I do not use these tools, preferring to use other software options. The third tool is the restoration of the system, which is covered in the next paragraph. The fourth tool is Wiper Drive and you will find reviews about this tool later

    1.13 removing the system restore points can be important if you have little free disk space. The ability to delete them is one of the tools options. You can selectively remove those created in less important moments. This makes it easier to hold the restore points for long periods without keeping large unwanted files, whose inflexible approach to disk cleanup fails to offer.

    1.14. you can't remove the last restore point using the cleaning disc or cCleaner. If the last restore point contains malicious software, you can turn off and then turn on system restore. This has the disadvantage that restore all points are removed when you want to keep more restore points that are not infected. How to get round this problem is to create a new restore point when you are satisfied with your computer is free of malware and then remove the infected restore point.

    1.15. in normal circumstances, you probably rarely need to use Driver wiper. However, there are situations like if you gave the computer to someone else, then the tool may be useful. Please note that the wiper Drive, opening, generates a warning message, which should not be dismissed lightly. Using wiper Drive for the wrong reason could have serious consequences.

    1.16 the fourth icon is labeled Options. Many configuration options are available here. You can configure cCleaner to run when start you but remember that this will slow down the boot. Another setting allows you to include or exclude cookies. Yet another allows files named to exclude.

    How to clean my disk overloaded space in C drive?  Almost complete.  Says "low disk space".  Thank you in advance.

    I'd be interested to see a report of Disk Defragmenter. Open Disk Defragmenter and click analysis. Select view report, and then click Save as and save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents folder. Open the file, and place the cursor anywhere in the file, select Edition, select all to select all the text and copy and paste into the body of your message. To do this, before you run Disk Defragmenter because it is more informative.

    Follow a few basic maintenance note.

    1.5 the tool provided in Windows to remove unwanted temporary files is disk cleanup. To access this tool select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. You must then run Disk Defragmenter.

    1.6 using the system restore option is most appropriate when your system is slow and you need to increase the free disk space on your C partition. If you have errors that could be solved by using the system restore to your system settings back to before that the error occurred initially, do not use this option.

    1.7. If more than one person uses the computer and they have their own user log you need to run Disk Cleanup in each user profile that you want to delete all the unwanted files.

    1.8. a better alternative program to disk cleanup is cCleaner. The freeware version works well for a home user and must be downloaded from Piriform program provider:
    http://www.CCleaner.com/download

  • Formatting the HARD drive before doing a clean install.

    I will do a clean install with my windows Visa but first told me to format my hard drive. Is that when you go to computer management > disk management, but then I have no idea what to do? It says Disk 0, and then Compaq and recovery. Laughing out loud.

    Thanks for your reply :) So basically I am following the steps in cleaning a compromised system, because that's what another MVP said that my problems with Windows updates and so on were probably the effects of a hijackware infection. It said to format my hard drive and then do a clean install of Vista,

    I do not know you said that, but it is wrong or you
    misunderstood him. When you perform a new installation, you start from the
    Windows DVD, then follow the prompts. It starts by formatting the drive
    for you, then there is no need to do first.

    and since my system did not come with the CD of Vista from the window I have to do by the Compaq recovery Partition.

    And if you do that, it also begins by formatting the drive for
    you.

    And by the way, your system is almost certainly with instructions on
    How to burn this on a DVD recovery partition and you should
    certainly doing this before you start. You don't want to wipe that
    partition without burning to a DVD first.

    I don't know exactly what I should do when it said to format my hard drive. It won't replace anything, which means getting rid of the previous things?

    Yes, it deletes everything on the disc. So make sure that, before
    from, save you on external support all important files for you.

    Because I don't want to do a clean install, then update all and then see my computer is still messed up.

    That's highly unlikely. But (and this is a big but) If you had "dirtied".
    to the top"by something you did, there is a good chance that you will make the
    same thing again and get 'messed up' all over again. It is one of
    the main reasons according to formatting and reinstalling Windows is
    usually a bad approach to solving a problem; It is best to find
    This is what the problem is, and what it, so that you don't make the
    same thing in the future.

    One last point: after the new installation, you will need to
    Restore the backup that you made your files and reinstall all your
    applications of their original medium.

  • restoration of old files after the clean installation of Vista Windows__

    How can I restore old files after you perform a clean installation of Windows Vista

    If you have an installation clean back to factory settings, you normally wiped your hard drive clean during the process.

    You can try this program:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/Recuva.html

    Recuva is a file undeletion tool that allows you to analyze your hard drives or media cards for files that have been deleted or formatted. It presents you a list of files that have been found, as well as an assessment of their potential for recovery, a preview option, and a hex viewer to inspect the content. You can limit your search to files of a certain type (e.g. images, audio etc.) and choose between a quick and a thorough analysis approach. The program also includes a secure deletion option that allows you to permanently delete files that were found while parsing, to avoid any future recoveries.
