Are updated faster Windows via downlaod automatic or manual download
32 bit Vista Home premium with MS update
As I have my system to check microsoft updates per day and downlaod / install at one point.
But sometimes I click on check for updates button' and then go ahead and click on install
If it takes more time to download and install when I do like this vs auto? It seems like he does, but this could be because I'm actually waiting, while the car is happening during the night
The Windows Update on your PC client checks the Microsoft's Windows Update server for the availability of new updates at irregular intervals and such randomization ensures that the Windows Update server is not overloaded with requests for updates at a time. The customer is very effective in searching for new updates and research updates that have been added since the last time updates have been excavated, which allows him to find the updates quickly and efficiently.
When checking for updates, the Windows Update client evaluates if the update is appropriate for your computer using guidelines set by the Publisher of the update, for example, Microsoft Office.
If the computer is not online at the same time that you specified to search for updates, the Windows Update client starts then check every five hours or something like that until he finds the updates successfully.
If Windows wants to install updates at shutdown, it's because the automatic updates downloaded updates, but not all updates you have requested or for automatic download. It will install the updates it has already downloaded and will inform you in good time when others are downloaded.
When all updates are listed so you check manually that you control the Windows Update server directly applicable to your system and you can immediately download and install. It is good to do a manual update now and again just to check what other updates are available as optional updates.

How are updates to Windows Live Mail generated?
I downloaded Windows Live Mail shortly before I upgraded to Windows 7. This has worked like a charm and copied on everything from Windows Mail.
Now I wonder how updates are handled. My Windows Update is configured to do the Windows updates only. If there is an update for Windows Live Mail, I will get it with this setting?
I don't want to change my settings, if I can avoid it because I not updated from Microsoft products, I do not use.
Thank you.If you are using Win7, Microsoft Update is your source of default update. As long as give me updates in the same way I receive important recommended updates is enabled, you will be offered updates for Windows Live Mail Security and others installed Windows Live applications.
If a version update of Windows Live Mail or any other installation Windows Live application is available, you will need to update manually via http://download.live.com/ or live.com application-specific page.

Are updated security Windows 8 ending in may? Please set me straight.
People,
This seems nuts to me, but I asked for clarification please.
I have a friend who has received a PC under Windows 8, and it has not been updated to
Windows 8.1. I've manually updated 43 updates on this subject earlier this month (it has not been
market in the last months of two years and a half).
In the last two weeks, I read a report that said that updates are not
be more available (in May) for 8 Windows PC that are not updated to Windows 8. 1.
Is this true?
I have enough time to get the update 8.1 on my friend's machine, but they are not
understand how the machines work, and I don't want to unnecessarily put
at the risk of everything out there (hackers, malware, etc.).
I should be grateful if you would hear from someone who knows for sure. I searched
widely, but all the info I've found deals with end of Windows XP life cycle.
Thank you for your comments.
Kind regards
DrivingtoMars
The only thing that ends in may, it is if you have 8.1 must be updated to 8.1u1 bebore the next round of updates or updates is more for you... ; Windows 8.0 is not affected.
Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

It is possible to activate Microsoft Updates via Group Policy, key registry or by download & install a separate package to "flip the switch"?
To clarify, I don't know what allows "Automatic Updates". By default, systems get updates to Windows, but I want to get Microsoft Updates to get updates for all Microsoft applications (Microsoft Office, Visio, Project etc.).
UPDATE: This has been resolved. The data further solutions below works. I'll just all point to this excellent article from Microsoft:

Update of Windows 8 does not, will not download
I bought a computer given to nine windows 8 and try to install the updates for the first time. Sometimes Windows Update will recognize that there are 180 ~ updates to download, but will always say 0% downloaded and you wait here and never updated. I ran the update of windows troubleshooting tool, and I have no additional software on the computer. Nothing seems to help.

I was not able to update my windows via windows update. Help?
Whenever I get a notice to update or install windows updates, I click on the taskbar icon to install the updates. But the problem is that I did not install the updates successfully. How can I fix this. I have windows vista Home premium 64-bit. My computer is barely a year old, and this problem started quite recently (as in the last 3 months). Help!
Hello
It's probably something you have installed about three months ago. Probably a program of safety of a certain type. I would like to begin by turning off your antivirus and third-party firewall programs. After that they have been disabled, reboot and see if you can install updates.
FYI: You can usually find software security running through an icon in the flight low corner... the task of Notification bar. Generally, it can be accessed with either a left or right mouse click.I hope this helps Mark <> Microsoft Partner

There are a few updates for Microsoft Office which do not install and give me an error code, but I have Microsoft Office on my computer. There was a trial version 30 days when I bought my laptop, but I have not bought it. I really don't want or need these updates. What is the procedure for 'hide' these updates, or to opt out of these updates?
Hi LadyJMP,
Open the updates of windows (via Control Panel). In the list of updates to install right click on this update. In the menu that appears, select 'Hide' User Account Control will appear and you will need to click OK. The update then will be hidden and will not appear in the list the next time put up-to-date Windows.

Updates from Windows to restart loop ;-(
My HP Pavilion Desktop under Vista Home Premium (German language and SP1) with intel processor through the normal automatic updates at around 03:00 local time without any apparent problem.
However, the virtually identical machine next to him is now taken in a loop in which the third three updates appears on the screen of "Curtain" at 0% complete as well as the instruction is not to shut down the pc. After a few moments the pc shuts down and restarts... until even with the curtain screen and repeat ad nauseum!
Have tried all the options found on this and other sites (for example, creating their own different security modes, deleting the file pending.xml etc.) without success.Someone at - it any other suggestions?
Hello
I guess that part of the question could be a driver which is really old or similar should not be loaded.
This exit Windows updates on (after you have access) and stop the updates of the driver to load.
