On family Windows Vista premium 64-bit, how to hide updates from windows that I don't have?

There are a few updates for Microsoft Office which do not install and give me an error code, but I have Microsoft Office on my computer.  There was a trial version 30 days when I bought my laptop, but I have not bought it.  I really don't want or need these updates.  What is the procedure for 'hide' these updates, or to opt out of these updates?

Hi LadyJMP,

Open the updates of windows (via Control Panel). In the list of updates to install right click on this update. In the menu that appears, select 'Hide' User Account Control will appear and you will need to click OK. The update then will be hidden and will not appear in the list the next time put up-to-date Windows.
