Area 51 ALX replacement graphics cards

Hi all.

A lot of time since I've been here! Must have a machine without problem since I'm the last one here!

In any case, I hope someone can help me. Unfortunately, one of my HD5970 died. I run with a single card at the moment.

I would like to buy and install a new card / cards, but I have no idea what I could buy that would run modern games in high graphics settings. I wish they were (money allows it!) spec high as the 5970 Crossfire were where this machine was new, which would go with happiness as a straight swap in my machine.

I would rather stick with AMD Radeon and if possible, with Crossfire unless a single card will do the same high-end work these days!

Can anyone suggest something to upgrade who will work OK?

Thank you! :)

Then, after getting my set up the back and purchased work GTAV HD5970 2 x. I suspect the GPU are probably strong enough to run the game, but 2 GB of memory is clearly not. I couldn't run THAT GTAV into something better than the graphics card settings decent half in 1440 x 900 before the graphics memory failed. He looks well. :-(

So, I decided to upgrade. I took the plunge with a 4 GB XFX R9 290 X reference (uses the same 8 & 6 pins power supply as the HD5970 cards) and apart from having to hit the power cables that powered the old two card put in place so that we're feeding the socket 8 pin and another feeds taking 6 pins, all is well and flies GTA in single monitor 1920 x 1080 at high or very high graphics settings.

Happy for the moment. :-)

Thanks for the help!

    Hi Tomas

I think that the replacement of the GPU is not easy because in most cases, the GPU chip is soldered on the map, and to my knowledge, the entire motherboard must be replaced.

Therefore, it would be desirable to examine and search the whole motherboard.

If the card is 32 cm (12.6 ") in length, it might not fit into the space provided.  You should stay at 9 "(22,86 cm) or less."  I love the XFX cards, however.  They are my first choice.

    It seems that Yes

But you are able to test the laptop with an additional external monitor?
If possible, connect the external monitor and press Fn + F5 to check if something would be visible on 2nd screen.
If photos on 2nd screen would be visible, then the GPU is OK and only your internal display is faulty.

No, the GPU can not be upgraded
Even if you would be able to remove the GPU of the motherboard and plug another chip, I guess that the BIOS would not address the new graphics card.

You are very limited in the hardware upgrade of the mobile
What you can upgrade are parties such as RAM or HARD drive. Sometimes the CPU can be updated, but it is also not supported by the laptop manufacturer.

    Hi mate.

Unfortunately, you can not replace the graphics card.
If the graphics card is dead, then the whole motherboard must be replaced.

It s is no more possible to upgrade the GPU chip. It s simply welded on the map and there is no chance to remove it.

If you are sure that your graphics card is dead, then you'll need for the new motherboard which is not good cheap 100%

  • ECS RC410-M (Asteropi-GL8E) Graphics Card compatibility

    Hello

In need of a graphics card, for my m7377a PC media (2006). With the motherboard OEM above.

This motherboard has problems of compatibility with the following cards:

NOTHING EVERYTHING GOOD (on this mobo).

GT630 on top, with 2 GB of VRAM, GT630 1 GB VRAM (mine), Ge Force GT210 1 GB Geforce GT630-2GD3

GT610 works of all kinds with video playback problems (I read).

Most of these cards, leader at all in windows. I bought a 1 GB of VRAM GT630, that I have to fire and lose money on the return shipping cost. In addition, spent several hours trying to make it work.

My problems are described on this post:

Pentium 4 524 (P) HT, 3.06 GHz, 533 MHz, Socket 775, RAM-1 GB DDR2. Please suggest what needed to change settings.

    I also read this:

    2009

For info, there are many reports of graphics cards with onboard integrated HDMI audio controllers or does not properly on the old ATI RS480/485 (Xpress 200) and motherboards Intel 915. The graphics function works well, but the HDMI audio controller will not install (or function) correctly due to resources in conflict, probably due to a limitation in the BIOS. So you can see that a graphics card that has its own HD HDMI audio controller does not work on this old motherboard.

So, if your motherboard is not likely to work with a new card (that you can generally post to a loss of ($)).

What choices are there? Try to get an exact same old?

How long before, (new card) dare go you until it became incompatible?

Whenever you have to go back, theres a loss on postage. If the seller actually accepts a return on a used item.

So where should I start looking for a card for this map mother RC410-M. and be sure that it will work, should not return to a loss of time and money.

    Ideas please!

    Thank you!

    Hi Alcyone,

Yes, I now have a work card (ATI). I solved it myself in the end and was going to contact Gigabyte to the subject of the incorrent (or misleading) specifications put on their products. But I had spent so much time on this PC, that enough was enough and I never have. They would be even interested? I had contacted during my research (to ask on the GT630 before I bought it). The answers was not good (as they do not read the survey properly, as my questions remained unanswered). I think that sometimes they don't know, which is OK, but should say, so I don't waste my time and money.

I'm never return here at the end of the day, to write my solution either (I don't think anyone would need, old PC a whole). So that's it:

As you place your order of parts can be expensive, if you make a mistake (the two means of postage). Was important to me to make sure I got the right parts first. Or my fixed at low prices for the old PC would be costly. So ended up doing a thorough reading and research before buy you. Always end up with one that would work not (new GT630). I checked everything to turn on without result. I got a return postage, but it still lost $15 on the return of mail.

It is the video card that did not, which made me think to upgrade other parts. As I wanted to adapt to a new upgrade card (such as the same year 2006 than my PC, how use that could have? maybe I would still look in 6 months?).

I wanted the last card that works, which was new, top spec etc. But more than anything in the budget that I had put to the old PC.

What I found was (and it was also the same for the PSU (Power supply unit) I had to replace). Components are continually updated, and to the extent possible, they try to make it backward compatible. But when major changes occur is not always possible or practical. This point of intersection in the technology can become difficult to get the right part. As last will not work, too old is too old. In the Middle, to the point of major changes (where my PC) can be difficult, with compatibility issues more cause where backward compatibility ends.

I opened another post at PSU renewal/upgrade and the difficulties of the selection of an appropriate unit, but also around the time of my PC (2006), there were changes to the amount of power supplied to the rails of the tension.

I had read a lot of opportunities, for people with the same problems as me with my new GT630 but also on the 610, 620? and other cards.

The problem is between the PCI-E 2.0 and ver 2.1 version

Œuvres from version 2.0 to version 1.0

Version 2.1 runs on a slot machine Ver 2.0 without being lower versions.

But the GT630 is version 3.0 compatible (on the box) running on version 2.0 (in small print). I thought: run worm. 2.0 OK = compat backward for version 1.0 (not so).

I found that the card is a 2.1 version that can run in a ver 2.0 slot and also a ver 3.0 slot. Changes have been made to the 2.1 that are agreed on the 2.0 and 3.0, but will not work something before ver 2.0

I guess, because the GT630 I bought to work on version 2.0 (I read the fine print before buy you), it would be back compatible (like ver. 2.0). They should have set out on the box that it is version 2.1 and will be only backward to 2.0

To sum up, when you buy must be certain it's ver 2.0 and not higher.

Ultimately for a version 2.0, I had to get a used video card. Perhaps, there are always new there? But I had had enough and was in a hurry. Didn't want to send a return once again either.

The latest version (year), I could get, I found one on Ebay for a price, I was happy with (Aus$ 60). Seller said he had not much use, still orig box and on the pictures is very clean. Yes! no guarantee, but it's still a chance with buying used. I was a little out of choice. I did the best research, I was able on ebay and won in the end.

This is what I bought and works perfectly in my PC for what I want from him. Overkill really (no game), but at least he will have an easy life.

    ATI RADEON HD4850

    1 GB GDDR3

    256-bit

    PCI Express 2.0

    Direct X 10.1

This is a substantial upgrade to my original card and it works well.

You probably only wanted the info above please so excuse the extra information. I thought I should write something in case it is useful to others.

    See you soon!

    SID.

Just thought I would add this again from the wiki (good info)

Think I JUST RECEIVE THE ANSWER? wiki but inevitable loser. I've read before (must have been when suffering and vision go blurry?)

    PCI Express 2.1 (from wiki)

PCI Express 2.1 supports a large part of the management, support, and troubleshooting systems provided for the full implementation in PCI Express 3.0.

However, the speed is the same as PCI Express 2.0.

Unfortunately, the increase in power of the slot breaks backward compatibility between cards PCI Express 2.1 and some old motherboards with 1.0 / 1. 0 a, but most of the PCI Express 1.1 motherboards connectors are provided with a BIOS update by their manufacturers utilities to support backward compatibility of PCIe 2.1 cards.

  • Update graphics card on Dell Inspiron 580 MT

    Hello

I watch first through similar threads on this site, but I found the newest one was more than a year, so I decided to create a new post

We have a 6 years, Dell Inspiron 580 Mt. just only because of his age, I'm about to put in a new hard drive, & when doing this, I thought to upgrade or replace the dedicated graphics card.

At the present time, there is a NVIDIA GeForce G310 512 MB card in there. The computer is used mainly for businesses, so not forced to play on it. The card manages two monitors, two Dell 2007FP with a resolution of 1600 x 1200. For the moment, we're on DVI, one on VGA, but I would like to make two DVI to 'Future Proof' if we replace with a higher resolution larger screens and more.

What would be a reasonable upgrade graphics card? I would like to find one that would not require an upgrade of the power supply as well.

Processor is an Intel Core i3 Processor 530(2,93GHz,4MB)

  • HP Pavilion A14Ld-550 desktop: this office has a replaceable graphics card?

The HP Pavilion 550 desktop computer - A14Ld has a replaceable graphics card? So, is this model with the characteristics I've listed have his replaced graphics card?

The answer is NO, because the HP is not a 550-A14Ld graphic slot PCIEx16. The actual GPU is anchored in the CPU chip. The concept is a like a laptop computer in a matter of funds. The real PSU (power supply) is really a brick 65W, very similar to a computer laptop power supply. I'm so glad you asked!
