  We run the Terminal Services on Windows Server 2003 Ent. in a cluster environment. We have 4 TS who handle the load. Now, we are faced with a high volume of users within the company. We have a main office (Headquarters) and 10 more ease, all linking to the seat through the DRC. We are trying to find a better solution to deal with the high volume in a better way and we have VMware View.

  Do you think that is a good alternative?

  Any input, advice is really enjoying it.

  I think that Desktop Virtualization (side Datacenter) and Terminal Server virtualization (Citrix or TS/RDP) pro and cons.

  You must deliver multiple environments or move the entire desktop to datacenter? Desktop virtualization could be better.

  You must provide a single application (or a few)? TS or some sort of virtualization to applications (such as ThinApp) solution could be better.

  Check out what you really need and how to access these services.

  Also consider licensing and where you can save costs.

  We have a set of accounts called Sage 50 accounts. It is a pretty horrible multi-user or single application for Windows.

  Set up multiple users to propose you a Windows computer on the local network, 'the Sage server' and install all the files of this machine.

  The client Setup is to install even on the rest of the PC but editing an ini file so that the client application connects to the data through a drive mapped on the Central Server network.

  It comes from old outdated technology, such as the underlying FoxPro database and has some horrible incompatibilities for example. SMB2 locking on the Vista and Win7 customers, products client antivirus hung their machines she virus check the program folder, hogging the bandwidth of the network, etc...

  Told me a stable solution it so to do a single installation of the «Wise» server on a Windows 2003 server and workstations to connect through the Terminal Services. In this way, it keeps it OS independent and does not monopolize the bandwidth network sends tons of data to the client.

  Will be what you specified work? ermmmm... maybe a little - it depends entirely on the amount of use and the load. If you have any questions, then it would be wise to run all applications except perhaps for our wise accounting the physical desktop application and only use the jobs of virtual machine for the good stuff.

  The import in Thunderbird tool is expected to work with other e-mail clients, i.e. the programs installed on your computer. Yahoo is before all a webmail service, so there is no address book on your computer for Thunderbird to import. Your e-mail messages, however, are on the server, so Thunderbird is able to access, being an e-mail client.

  Go to the yahoo site, sign in to your email account and look for options to export contacts. CSV is probably available and Thunderbird can import CSV files.

  Firefox will also remember your credentials before it can do so. Something that you can't do that if it is a public or shared computer. Some webmail services may be difficult to do because it is considered a security issue.
