AS3 animation slow/choppy

Hi all

I'm having a bit of a problem with the Simulator and hoped one of you knows how to improve things, if that's possible.

My problem is when you use the ENTER_FRAME or TIMER events for animation. Animation on the Simulator is very slow/choppy/incompatible. I guess that this is related to VMWare and not the OS simulator.

Has anyone experience this problem? If so, have you been able to solve it? Otherwise, any other suggestions?

Thank you!

I'm also running at 30 fps.

The filters are bad for performance. Try to limit their better use that you can. Often, you can achieve the same effect by creating the desired effect in an external image editor (for example, Photoshop), then import the image.

Turning with a filter is probably worse because the use of filters set cacheAsBitmap to true. Objects rotating (or scale) with cacheAsBitmap uses CPU more. If you simply have the first loss of performance, using filters and then you take another hit when rotating on top of that. If you do a lot of this can be pretty bad.

However, that may not always be the source full of all your performance issues. Try to remove them entirely, and see if everything clears up and you will know if they are the only issue or not.

  • BETA 4 Animations VERY choppy

We have just rebuilt our app with BETA 4 and immediately noticed be chopped everything by animating the objects around. Initially - the thought was question of the compiler so we have rebuilt for immediate release etc. nothing works.

We still have a slightly different version of the application on the device that was built with the BETA 3 - it runs very WELL. The animations are very smooth. It is a BIG step in the wrong direction.

    I logged a bug here https://www.blackberry.com/jira/browse/BBTEN-445

Now, this gives impression that the unit is lower, given that animations are kind to 'jump' as if the device cannot follow. Elijah is not the case - the camera CAN follow fine since we can see the app with the old SDK works very well.

What is happening on device Dev Alpha B and the last BETA 4 SDK.

If you have noticed a similar problem - please upvote and comment on the bug at the ADDRESS below.

To reproduce - just create a few ImageViews and try to animate at the same time on the screen. It will get choppy as it used to be very smooth.

    It's not good

We determined the source to be chopped Animation and application in slow and jerky all running.

It's the banner that we inserted in the app. He was allowed in the BETA 3 version, but in BETA 4 he missed the system completely and everything is very agitated and unresponsive as it should.

Once the banner is removed - the app works well again.

-If your application performance issues - check if you use bb::cascades:advertisement:Banner - removing will most likely restore performance what you were used to.

  • Sound does not, slow/choppy video playback. Reboot to fix.

I have a problem with my PC.  Don't know if a hardware error or system.  It is common during video playback.  Usually, he plays very well, but sometimes brutally, everything is in slow-mo with no sound. The only way to solve this is to restart the PC.  On most pages, it makes also has flash declined. Tried to stop all services and unnecessary processes, virus checks, updated windows and the latest video card drivers, card sound, etc.  Not sure how this can be fixed.  Extremely boring all playing a game and my sound dies.

    Hello
OK, this is the driver related or heat related.
    1. set to update your video and sound drivers restart and try again.

Look for the old drivers Device Manager and update

Drivers can become outdated and could be damaged to the point where they slow the system performance. Looking for the old drivers Device Manager, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type the sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.

Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

Right click on the device, and then click Properties.

    Click the driver tab.

Compare the version of the driver on the tab, with driver version information on the latest version of the driver that is published on the website of the manufacturer.

To resolve problems that are caused by corrupted or outdated drivers, install the latest drivers:

Click Start, click Run, type the sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.

Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

Right click on the device, and then click Properties.

Click on the driver tab, then click on set to update driver.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the update of the driver.

    2. check the power of your computer, especially near the card... check video to make sure that this video card is not loose (if it is not a card on board)

  • AS3: Animated MovieClips

I have a two-dimensional array of movieclips. Some of them evaluates to null in code. Others must be to fill places null. How can I make the animation to show how they fall? I would like to know the principle. Should I use a timer or event ENTER_FRAME?

    I finally managed.

I removed the ENTER_FRAME event and add tween moving with an event trigger for finishing of tween.

  • Circles AS3 animation

I'm trying to animate an object so that it moves in a circular path set around the center of the stage and I was wondering what was the best way to go about this? I use AS3 and must be able to control the diameter of the circle, the speed of rotation and the direction of rotation (in the clockwise or counterclockwise).

I guess I'll have to use the basic formula more to a circle (for example x ^ 2 + y ^ 2 = r ^ 2) which means that the circle is centered at the point (0,0) then add stage.stageWidth/2 to the value of x and stage.stageHeight/2 to the value o until the center of the circle to the center of the stage instead of (0,0)? Or I go to this topic in a rather complicated way?

    See you soon,.

Call circleF(), passing the obvious parameters:

    function circleF (mc:DisplayObject, centerX:uint, centerY: uint, RADIUS: uint, speed: number) {}
    var t:Timer = new Timer(10,360/speed);

    var circleAnimateF:Function = function (e:TimerEvent) {}
    var angle: Number = speed*Math.PI*t.currentCount/180;
    MC.x = centerX + radius * Math.cos (angle);
    MC.y = centerY + radius * Math.sin (angle);
    }
    t.addEventListener (TimerEvent.TIMER, circleAnimateF);
    t.Start)

  • InDesign-animation slow, smooth

    Hello world!

I am just a presentation in InDesign and I want as my background images to move very slowly from left to right, just to have a dynamic feeling and modern.

My problem is: the anmiation isn't smooth enough (for me) and I have the feeling that I missed an option to fix this problem. The image seems to jump from pixel to pixel rather than move smoothly and slowly and this makes it very confusing to look at.

I want to move for example about 30 px right after 30 seconds, you can see jump a pixel a second.

Everyone suffers from the same problem? Or InDesign "simply not made for this kind of things?"

Would be really happy if I got help and please excuse my bad English...

Thanks, Steve, but I don't want to use another software.

Partially solved the problem by increasing the size of my document from 1024px to 2048px. This does not make a difference as my presentation is going to run on the mode full screen anyway.

If there are other parameters that might help, please tell me

  • Scale/speed - Animation

I'm trying to animate a picture cut out of a plane in After Effects.

I do the animation to the photo starts small gets bigger and bigger until the front nose and window to fill the screen plane.

I did it by increasing the 'ladder' of the aircraft from the small to the big using two 'keyframes' 0 to 6 seconds. But the animation starts during the first 3 seconds faster I want, then the 3 last seconds the animation slows down moving much slower I want that there. I tried variations from 0 to 20 seconds, but the lively effect is always the same. How can I control the speed, while the plane moves are a good pace.

    Screen Shot 2015-12-10 at 15.18.26 copy.jpgScreen Shot 2015-12-10 at 15.18.52 copy.jpgScreen Shot 2015-12-10 at 15.19.14 copy.jpg

AE is really scaling "correctly" - linearly, but it will look evil. Here's why:

Let's say in the first second, the plane goes 100% to 500% - 5 x greater

    Later in animation, he spent 2000% 2 500% size - 1.25 x greater

The value of the scale is on the rise at the same rate per second insofar as after effects is concerned - but these units are percentages - that is why the increase in the scale seems "slow down."

    Here is the solution:

    Select your two scale keyframes.

Right-click (to get the contextual pop-up menu) and select:

    Keyframe Assistant > exponential scale.

This will generate an exponential curve which will give you a perceptually correct increase nationally.

The disadvantage of this method is that it gives you a keyframe on every image.

(A workaround option what is the solution of the key image on each frame is to duplicate your layer of the plane and apply the method above to the first layer. Then select all the keyframes scale on both layers. Go to the graph editor and use the handles on keyframes of the second layer to copy the shape of the curve on the first layer. If you do not see handles on two keyframes in your original animation in the graph Editor, select the two keyframes and press the third button from the right in the buttons at the bottom. Once you have copied the curve, you can remove the first layer.

  • Animation - what Illustrator, I should use?

I have Illustrator as part of master CS6, I bought for InDesign, Photoshop, and first. While using the first, I had to draw regularly on yet and Adobe After Effects, Audition, but I have yet to open Illustrator. I hope someone here can save me time advised me if Illustrator is suitable for my purposes. I'm not a professional, just a passionate amateur, but I don't want to use software quality and the equipment to do the best job that I can.

    Background

I use first mainly to convert my audio-visual presentations to the HD format. In the 1980s, I was just in slideshows of three screens. It will be a challenge to transform a 4.5:1 16:9 format, but as my partner says it will keep me out of mischief. As part of the transformation, I will be the introduction of a small number of video clips (where my need of creation) and also short animation sequences, probably 10 seconds maximum. I have little idea of what software to use for the animation, but all the software in my collection of what Adobe illustrator seems at least to have the right name, so here I am.

    A few thoughts

I have a friend, Steve, a watercolor and sketch artist, and he's very anxious to get into the animation. Showed me a few short films he did on his iPad with his finger. I told him: 'we can do better than that. " My idea is:

    1. Buy a Wacom Cintiq 22HD with all the fancy pens, plug it into an iMac and open the appropriate software.
    2. Sit Steve in front of the Cintiq and let it go.
    3. Steve wields the pen to generate the outline of the first image. No coloring in, not background at this point, just a "test in pencil" kind of thing. Something like the sketches of Chuck Jones for a Road Runner cartoon, except best (I can dream, I can't?)
    4. Steve could generate 24 fps for smooth movement, but we could decide to take only 12 (or 8) per second and software have interpolated for missing executives - if possible.
    5. When we are satisfied by the "pencil test", the background and coloring are made.
    6. When finished, the project is imported to the Prime Minister to be part of the audiovisual sector.

    Illustrator or something else?

Illustrator is suitable for what we want to do? If this is not the case, what would be the most suitable software? We won't make things complicated as the 3D animations, simple - a character in motion in a context that may also be moving.

Illustrator is not suitable for it.

According to the style of the last animation, you can use illustrator to build assets to animate in another program like flash. but of the adobe family, flash is what you are looking for.

I haven't used in a while so I don't know how the sketch is good about it. will touch you with vectors so there not all the charm of a pencil test. but there skins chronologies and onion and twin animated for animations of transformation as something that cross the screen, rotation, morphing, etc. scaling.

Flash animations tend to look very steep in my opinion. the best example I can think of a flash animation, which is not without a soul would be 2d sequences in kung fu panda.

There are programs that are better suited for traditional animation (at least in sensation). Totally forgot that I used at school. I mean flipbook. anyway. for pencil tests in my opinion really improtant is the drawing of the sensation. There are a lot of animation 2d there software but they are for the most part any vector and offer not bitmap of good drawing tools.

at school, we used to draw on paper and photography. Some people spent about things like toon boom, which I do not remember if it is the only vector drawing.

I chose to photoshop which is very heavy for animation because of the configuration, but fantastic for natural drawing. everyone in class thought I hosted with pencils and markers of China.

I say that the configuration is painful because your executives are about layers. If you find yourself with hundreds of layers. I then changed the opacity of my layers of onion.  the timeline was also a pain because you really do a bit of math to get the right images per second. I ended up losing a few images in the final product. as you build your layers, the preview of the animation slows down.

anyway. My 2 cents. FlipBook has bitmap drawing tools such as photoshop, but as I remember, they were not that great. It also allows access to photoshop to draw you into photoshop and updates of fram inside flipbook. It would have been ideal, but at the time, it kept crashing on me when I tried it. I don't know if they fixed.

  • Adobe Flash Player 11 turn slowly in FF 14

Currently using 14 FF (channel) with Flash Player 11 (updated today, 07-21-12). Flash objects, such as Facebook games, run slow/choppy to the point where it looks like a collection of tiles of update in a few seconds.
I've deleted temporary files, compact databases, uninstalled and reinstalled FF, updated display drivers, ran flash in full screen mode and tested objects the same objects flash in other browsers.
Operating in mode full screen relieves the slow, but there is a delay when loading content that is not normally noticed when viewing on a normal page; However, the action plays as it should. View other browsers, such as IE flash content, allows the content to play with fluidity, as it should. Toggle the flash hardware acceleration (parameters) does not seem to affect the performance and the global settings allow Web sites to store sufficient data. Also, restarting does not solve the problem.

The PC in question is under Win 7 32 bit. 2 GB OF RAM; Dual Core 1.8 GHz processor; Graphics ATI Radeon HD 2400 @ resolution 1280 x 1024.

Manager tasks indicates that the Flash Player uses up to 60% of the time CPU, Firefox uses less than 15% to the maximum, and the plugin container runs generally less than 10% during the display of the flash object on a page normally. Full-screen view of the flash object can have Flash Player take up to 70% of the time CPU, but playback is smooth.

What was the latest version of Flash, which did not have this problem - 11.3.300.262 or 11.2 or 10.3?

Flash 11.3 implements a new protected mode, which can spawn process outside the process of plugin - container.exe. This doesn't seem to be a problem for most users, but could be a problem on some systems. I don't see how it would behave differently on the page vs full screen. However, if you want to test if the protected mode is relevant, you may want to temporarily disable this new feature. In the following article, scroll down to the 'Last resort' section: Adobe Forums: how to fix protected Flash Player for Firefox mode?

  • Windows 10 build 9926 unusually heavy use of CPU on the venue Pro 7130 i3 11

Define how the other owners of 11 Pro 7130 meeting places had good success in the management of the Windows 10 preview, I conducted today a place in upgraded from 8.1 to 10 build 9926 (the one with the Continuum, which is great), but I'm having the issue of constant between 50 and 99 percent high CPU load , with no guilty in the Task Manager. Before you go to format and do a clean install I wanted to ask if anyone knew this problem.

EDIT: the unusually high load seems to be triggered by a process called Windows Driver Foundation - user, whose executable mode driver is wudfhost.exe.

A complete reinstallation did not help.

EDIT 2: If someone experience the problem, disable completely the service named "Windows Driver Foundation - user-mode driver framework" helped, with seemingly no ill effects, although after weird restarting it may need to be disabled later.

As a warning, I note how in general, it is never a good idea to go mucking in services.msc.

Some information about my experience with the Windows preview 10, the two pre - and after Cortana on a Dell coming Pro 11:

    1. Builds before the last Technical Preview 9926 looked much more like Windows 8.1

      1. They shared the same start menu and app store. It was almost like 8.1 with all it's bugs ironed out - and a few goodies in. Really worked well on my V11P.
    2. 9926 build adds many new features - but also adds tons of bugs.
      1. Look around the net and you will see common problems that are corroborated by many users of the technique of the preview. You will have to take the good with the bad.
    3. Upgrades (from 8.1 to 10) on-site are problematic - ESPECIALLY with the most recent Technical Preview 9926
      1. My installation of the latest version of Win10, migrate my settings 8.1 resulted in an installation with tons of questions. My Active stylus barely worked - sensor HID driver will fail to load and having problems. He would go to the mode standby and never go on low power, draining my battery. He had 100% fail still to wake up from its sleep - I would get a black screen that requires a hard shutdown and reboot. I also had the CPU usage very high with the WDF service. As mentioned above.
      2. Overall, a lot of things online really as you can imagine - and this is frankly not worth it to upgrade on site.

So, with that said - what was the solution?

    New installation.

Here are the steps to get the best Windows 10 installation on a coming 11 Pro (I know - in my experience).

    1. Download the version of ISO - installation of a USB disk with the utility in Rufus

      1. Boot on it by pressing volume up several times during boot up until you get the boot menu. Then use volume up to move to the bottom of the list - low volume to select the highlight boot device.
      2. After the installation of the key USB - copy the most recent copy of Dell Wireless driver for your Intel/Dell Wireless card, a copy of 7-zip, and a copy of the latest Dell cabin Pack for the 7130 file in a directory on the USB drive (make one, name drivers or something).
    2. Install the Windows technical overview 10
      1. Delete all partitions on disk 0 (or whatever your SSD) until you have one unpartitioned space - and install it.
    3. When you first - start your screen will be slow/choppy as all hell!
      1. This is mainly due to the fact that there are very few compatible drivers cooked in Windows 10.
    4. Do not start to install the drivers from the Dell site - many will prove to be obsolete.
      1. Only install the drivers from Dell/Intel Wireless to obtain network connectivity and the internet
      2. Then install 7 - Zip and extract the CAB Driver Dell file in a directory on your C:\ called "C:\Dell.
    5. Now you have a network connection - start Windows Update

    1. Windows different Intel chipset - including video device drivers will begin to download.
    2. It will ask to reboot - let him.
  • Now - if your tablet is something like mine - after it restarts, it will start flickering like hell.
    1. This is the video driver Intel panic hell. Tablet may hang - just persist through the pain and continue.
    2. I found mine to panic more with the help of the touchscreen - so I plugged a mouse.
    3. Mine has been fixed by disabling "Auto Refresh Panel" in the Intel graphics options menu (click Law Office, Graphics Options). This setting can be found under the section power options.
      1. Do it and restart. My flicker ceased thereafter.
  • At this point - I expected and wanted things worked, but open Device Manager
    1. (Start menu - type "Device Manager") - or-(Start Menu-> Control Panel-> Device Manager)
    2. There was a last device without driver SM Bus controller. Click - Update right driver and point it to the directory of D:\Dell you have extracted the CAB file.
    3. It was't until what I installed the driver for the device that he would go to sleep properly connected.
  • Now - a word of warning. Unlike earlier versions of win 10 - my Eve connected sessions drain about 1, 500 MW/h. That's what I saw in 8.1 Win no matter what I tried - I wonder if there is some sort of driver problem - and replacement needs. My sleep study reports show some offenders - everything works for less than 1% of the sleep cycle, but the material is not a descendant to C3 to sleep, which is where the power drain is. Looks like a driver chipset of a certain type of malfunction - I'll do a trace and try to isolate the problem.

Apart from that-, all has been MUCH more stable. Sleep (although draining the battery) are coherent rock, I have the high utilization of the processor in the stronger WDF service, and the active stylus works exactly as it should.

I'll stop it between uses for now - and keep stable and see if there is a driver chipset or something that solves this problem.

  • Is there a bilateral filter existing library?

    Hello

I am looking for a method of convolution preserves edge written in AS3, but it's really difficult to find one.

Bilateral filter is one of the most popular product of convolution edge where are kept.

Any of you have seen a bilateral filter library written in AS3?

If not, can you tell me an image processing library good opensource as OpenCV in flash, if there is none?

    Thank you

I know this isn't quite an answer on your question but a little while back, I did an edge detection decent speed using this library (AS3 version (slow) and a (quick) PixelBender available, but old version): http://blog.inspirit.ru/?p=297

I don't know there's a little more out there but he detected edges very well when I used it. With this, you can simply make a mask. Then all you need to duplicate the image, blur the background image and use your gradient mask generated to multiply the original image on the image blurred to show the original sharper edges.

If you find a library, please share it!

    Hi guys

On the first day, I had problems with sound speed and slow choppy after several minutes of play, after that the search on the forum, it seems that this is a common problem, and most people suggest using MSI after burner to set a custom fan curve. My question is: any of you have a game recommended for MSI upwards as I don't really know what I'm doing? I played a few games of titanfall since the installation using the default settings of Afterburner and all my problems disappeared. My Gpu max temp was 68 degrees, so everything is good? Basically, I'm a little worried, I don't want to damage my graphics card because I am to play with stuff I don't know too much about that. Any advise is much appreciated.

    68 C is almost impossible to damage a Kepler card because they are designed for fine clock at low temp. -For example - 13 MHz to 70 c cause of Kepler pointing down at a time., I do allow my 660TI not hit 70 C ave had good results with these parameters: 40 C = 40% fan 50 C = 50% fan 60 C = 65% fan 65 C = 75% 68 C = 80 percent (complete) fan (+ 157 MHz OC & + 497 MHz Mem.)

  • Change FPS with or without change of PACE

OK, I guess this isn't a new topic, but since I can't find something recent and relevant, here goes:

I have an animation that I'm trying to shave a few kilobytes off, and a quick and obvious answer to this would be to reduce the frame rate. Obviously a relatively complex and much animation if I cut back on the FPS, the animation slows down, producing very undesirable results. Lets say for example, I have a file which is of 180 images for a long time, clocked at 24 fps. If I want to reduce up to 12 fps, is there an easy way to cut the timeline in half (do the animation run at the original rate), with all the keyframes, the motion tweens, etc. automatically reduced by a percentage, rather than having to go and manually all cut in half?

Before these other byte shaving suggestions are made, I should say that I am well aware of the problems with things like alpha blends, gradients and reducing the size of JPEG compression. I've already supported such things to get more realistic results.

Any idea anyone can give me would be much appreciated. Thank you!

There is no easy way to "accordion". the chronology of animation in Flash But
for a quick test, you will see that if you change the pace and the test
your movie, the file size will not change. Frame rate has no effect on the file
size. But if the reduction of the duration of the Tween is be the by-product of a
a slower pace, then file size will be smaller - how it is difficult to
say and depends on your tween animations.
Whatever it is, if it should happen, it must be done manually by deleting frames
yourself. There is no built-in Flash automated task. Sorry :(
