ASA ACE details
Hi Experts,
I have a doubt in the firewall of the SAA. If the number of ACE has increased, it can affect the performance of the ASA.
I have ASA 5510, 256 MB Flash, 1 GB of memory with license security.
This firewall can support up to howmany ACE without disrupting the performance.
If it is a single mode, ACE how can use.
If it is a Multiple context mode, ACE how can use.
It can be used for the design of the firewall and reduce the ACE.
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards
Simo
There isn't any closer, it all depends on your ACL and order. Here is a guideline on the configuration of the ACL for better performance.

Hi Vladimir,.
Yups, this is an issue that is seen. Downgrade of Java should solve the problem. If this is not the case, turn on java debugging logs and paste those here:
Go to control panel-> java right click-> Open-> Advanced-> check all the boxes that appear under debugging and click the radio button to see the console
Rerun the IDM in browser and collect data in the java console window and paste it here.

The ACE IPS Cisco and Cisco ASA AIP - SSM (IPS)
Is there a difference between the features offered by the Cisco ACE IPS and Cisco ASA AIP - SSM (IPS) devices?
Can we do without Cisco ASA AIP - SSM (IPS) of 'only' configuration/implementation Cisco ACE IPS.
Cisco AVS/ACE emphasis on commissioning and to secure web-based applications. IP addresses do not focus on just the web applications and trying to get the multiple layers of the OSI stack. Consider the IPS as a general practitioner and the ACE/AVS as an eye surgeon, or something :)
Here is the response from Cisco itself:
Q: how is Cisco AVS Firewall application differs from an intrusion prevention system (IPS)?
A. IPSs are solid solutions of protection against targeted attacks of known vulnerabilities in major platforms such as Windows, Solaris, Apache or Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS). Cisco AVS excels to protect against targeted attacks Web sites or enterprise applications. These applications can be built custom internal applications or software vendor. Signatures and security patches are generally not available for these types of applications, and building these security levels in each application, it would be almost impossible.
Q: how is Cisco AVS Firewall application differs by a network firewall?
A. The Cisco AVS 3120 and Firewall network such as the Firewall of Cisco PIX® and Cisco ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security appliances are complementary products. The application Cisco AVS Firewall secures Web applications; excellent network in the network security firewall. and the Cisco AVS provides defense in depth for Web applications.
Firewall network apply policy networks, IP addresses and ports; they have a wide range of application for many different protocols layer features. The firewall can and will be deployed in many locations, including the edge, edge of the enterprise network, branch, etc. Cisco AVS imposed the policy on data HTTP as URL, headers and parameters. Cisco AVS is deployed in the data center in front of Web applications

ACEs does not properly ASA 5510
Hello guys,.
I have a VPN, and I think that something is wrong with her placement of the ACE of for the instruction of the permit. I have first of all that I would like ACL 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60. My ACL 10 to 6 ACE and I'm not trying to add ACE 7 and 8. Whenever I add my ACE 7 with (control lines), it does not impose the I am adding behind the line 6 in the ACL 10 to 2 ACE list. It starts really everywhere as it is the first 10 ACLs and the list of my lines 1 and 2 instead of 7 and 8 behind the current have a 10. Not only that, but it is turned 60 ACL that concerns me is why my VPN tunnel is not coming. What's causing the ASA watch my ACE application because they are not at the top, with the rest of the ACE 10, ACL? When I do a ping from the source to the destination network network in the ACE, I added that I don't see any hits on my ACE when I perform an access control list of a show.
Placement in the ACL for crypto VPN ACL is not important. What is important for crypto ACL, is that this mirror image exactly on the other site of the tunnel.
If you have 10 lines of ACE on this site, the corresponding VPN peer should have 10 lines as well in reverse (mirror image).
The placement of the ACE is not the same.

Tecra S2 - cannot find details
Hello
I recently bought Toshiba Tecra S2 on Ebay, but I can't find * official * details on this machine. I've already found two problems: seller says CPU is 2.0 GHz, it is 1.6 in reality; said seller DVD +-RW is integrated, in reality it is read/write CD, DVD read only.
I get increasingly suspicious of all this. Here is the link to a model/serial number: http://www.shrani.si/f/2X/Sh/1Gtra4s4/dsc02080.jpg
Hello
It may be problematic to pick up info right when you buy cell phones used because you don't know the history of this laptop. Maybe it was repaired in the past. Maybe some parts are not original and also don't forget that these laptops may be part of the special project.
This means that Toshiba may have designed thousands of such portable for big companies like Deutsche Telekom or insurance. Most laptops will be later sold on eBay.
When you just check out the info on the label it says PM 730/512 / 60 G 42/15XT/CDW/LM/W which means inside should be Intel Pentium M 730 MHz/521 MB RAM / 15 speed XT display/60 GB HARD drive at 4200 RPM.
So it is not easy to give you accurate information because Tecra S2 has been delivered with several different hardware platforms.
I'm afraid you portable ACE that m was BTO. What does build to order. -

Hello
I'm new with ASA devices
I have an ASA 5505, former Director of COMPUTING doesn't remember the password of it. I wonder what I lose the configuration on it if I reset the
password?
If so, how do I download the configuration before you reset the password.
and how can I download the downloaded configuration
Thanks in advance for your time
Hello
The Cisco document should detail the steps for password recovery.
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/security/ASA/asa72/configuration/guide/trouble.html#wp1058131
Basically, what this does is
- He starts the ASA without configuration
- When his kick copy you the original to the ASA configuration
- Since you have already started the ASA and have management access copy the old configuration to start the running configuration will not affect your management connection (in other words you will not be asked to authenticate)
- In the meantime, you should be able to use the typical show commands to get the configuration copied to Notepad or even send it to tftp server I guess
There are several guides online or even on Youtube videos that go through the process more clearly than the simple section of the Cisco document I linked above.
You should not lose your configuration unless you somehow manage to crush

Hello
First I must admit that I am not very versed in Cisco equipment or in general IPSEC connections so my apologies if I'm doing something really good obviously stupid, but I checked through any kind of things that I could find on the internet on the configuration of IPSEC VPN.
The setup I have is an asa 5520 (o/s 8.2) firewall which, for now, is connected to a temporary connection beautiful style home broadband for testing purposes. The netopia router is configured to allow ipsec passthrough and redirect 62515 UDP, TCP 10000, 4500 UDP, UDP 500 ports in the asa 5520.
I'm trying to connein out of a laptop with disabled windows firewall and vpn cisco 5.0.02.0090 client version.
I ran several attempts through the ipsec configuration wizard options. most of the time that nothing comes in the newspaper to show that a connection was attempted, but there is a way I can set up product options the following on the firewall log:

You can also run debug on the ASA:

ASA 5555 X with power Module of fire and redirect URL to WSA
My question is related to the flow of traffic with an ASA 5555 X with the power of fire services module and a WCCP redirect a device of the WSA.
I think that the traffic flow should occur such as:
Traffic http--> ASA--> FP IPS--> WCCP in the WSA Proxy--> (Internet cloud)
In this way the IPS could identify all customers before traffic hits the Proxy of the WSA.
So the question is, is the policy of Service on the SAA get processed before the WCCP redirect? Is - this configurable? Or the ASA deals the WCCP redirect before the Service policy routing traffic through the ASA?
Y at - it guides that go into the details of this scenario?
Thank you
David
David,
There is no plan to join WSA ASA/power of fire or FTD. Each has strengths and treats the customers with different requirements.
WSA like you know offer customization deep and rich reports or web filtering. However, it is limited to http/80 and https/443. Firepower is an easy solution if you already use it for NGIPS and/or Malware protection. It lacks some of the features of the ASO reporting (although FMC can be highly customized if you dig deep).
There are also OpenDNS to consider whether it's capabilities are calls for you.

Is there a centralized management for fire muiltiple ASA?
Hi all
I had a bit of google but cannot find anything. We are an MSP and manage the ASA firewall for several clients. We seek to deploy firepower on ASA5500x models for customers with the VMware virtual appliance for management firepower to customers locally.
Is there a way to centrally monitor multiple firepower installs? We have alerts email for events of the intrusion, but looking for something a little more fancy for a view of AC type.
Maintenance rules and air we would always use installation for a more detailed analysis and local would look us at the interface of local firepower.
Thank you, Simon
There is not a 'Manager of managers' for several FireSIGHT management centres (new name for the old centre of defence).
Of course a particular CMF can manage multiple sensors / modules ASA firepower but a given sensor or module cannot be managed by a single WCF.

Question of limit with oversubscription ACE, max &;
Hello
I have a question about the following output:
show serverfarm SFARM detail

min-conns : 9950...
There is a sticky source ip configured for serverfarm primary + backup serverfarm (not sticky). Do you know why we can see the current connections limit & max?
The sticky for serverfarm primary could cause this problem?
Kind regards
Krzysztof
Krzysztof salvation,
Normally the current connection count is the number of ESTABLISHED + EMBRYONIC connections. So as soon as ACE sends the SYN, the current counter is incremented and if connecting, connection total counter is incremented or other failure.
That said, I still think it should not present more than MAX-& limit unless Max-& is reserved to the ESTABLISHED.
I suggest you open a TAC case to study it. He have a lot of questions related to these counters, which have all been cosmetic and had no real impact on the functionality of the device itself.
Kind regards
Kanwal
Note: Please check if they are useful.

Hello
What is the default TCP on ACE time and how I can check it out. I have the sticky time set to 720 minutes. It applies to TCP timeout as well.
If you have not configured the parameter map and applied to the policy then ACE certainly will use the default values.
A way to test, it could be opening a new tcp connection and use the commmand "view details of conn" with the ip address of dest.
Conn detail | beg 10.10.10.10
and search for [timeout: xx:xx:xx].
downtime gives you the downtime for this connection.

Cisco ASA 5505 VPN Site to Site
Hi all
First post on the forums. I have worked with Cisco ASA 5505 for a few months and I recently bought a 2nd ASA to implement tunnel VPN Site to Site. It seems so simple in the number of videos watched on the internet. But when I did he surprise it did work for me... I've removed the tunnels, a number of times and tried to recreate. I use the VPN Wizard in the SMA to create the tunnel. Both the asa 5505 of are and have the same firmware even etc..
I'd appreciate any help that can be directed to this problem please. Slowly losing my mind

There are some clear problems I see on a quick glance. These are not related to the actual VPN configuration but rather the NAT configurations.
All your configuration of NAT CLI format above are configured as manual NAT / double NAT in Section 1. This means that the appliance NAT configurations have been added to the same section of the NAT configurations and scheduling of the NAT inside this Section rules is the cause of the problem for the L2L VPN connection for some.
Here are a few suggestions on what to change
ASA1
Minimal changes
the object of the LAN network
192.168.10.0 subnet 255.255.255.0
being REMOTE-LAN network
255.255.255.0 subnet 192.168.100.0
NAT (inside, outside) 1 static source LAN LAN to static destination REMOTE - LAN LAN
no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination
That means foregoing is first of all create 'object' that contain the local LAN and remote LANs. Then, it creates a NAT0 rule and adds to the top rules NAT. (number 1). It is essentially of at least one of the problems preventing the VPN operation or traffic that cross.
Finally, we remove the old rule that generated the ASDM. It would do the same thing if it has been moved to the top, but I generally find the creation of the 'object' with descriptive names easier on the eyes in the long term.
Other suggestions
These changes are not necessary with regard to the VPN L2L. Here are some suggestions how to clean a part of NAT configurations.
PAT-SOURCE network object-group
source networks internal PAT Description
object-network 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0
object-network 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0
object-network 192.168.40.0 255.255.255.0
NAT interface (it is, outside) the after-service automatic PAT-SOURCE dynamic source
No source (indoor, outdoor) nat Dynamics one interface
no nat (wireless, outdoors) source Dynamics one interface
no nat (servers, outside) no matter what source dynamic interface
The above configuration creates a "object-group" that lists all internal networks that you have dynamic PAT configured so far. It then uses the ' object-group ' in a command unique 'nat' to manage the dynamic PAT for all internal networks (with the exception of printers who had nothing at first). Then we remove the old PAT dynamic configurations.
Contains the command "nat" "car after" because it moving this "nat" configuration to the bottom of the NAT rules. For this reason its less likely to cause problems in the future.
network of the SERVERS object
subnet 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0
network of the VPN-POOL object
192.168.50.0 subnet 255.255.255.0
NAT (servers, external) 2 static static source of destination of SERVERS SERVERS VPN-VPN-POOL
no nat (servers, external) static source NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.20.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.20.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.50.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.50.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination
The above configuration is supposed to create a NAT0 configuration for traffic between the network and the pool of Client VPN server. To my knowledge the old configuration that remove us is not used because the traffic would have matched PAT rule dynamic server yet rather than this rule which is later in the NAT configurations and would not be addressed.
no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination
It seems to me that network 192.168.1.0/24 is not configured from anywhere in your network. Therefore, the above 'nat' configuration seems useless, can be deleted. If I missed something and its use in then of course do not remove it.
ASA2
Minimal changes
the object of the LAN network
255.255.255.0 subnet 192.168.100.0

No source (indoor, outdoor) nat Dynamics one interface
The above configuration is supposed to do the same thing with the other ASA. Although given that this network contains only a single subnet it cleans the "nat" configurations exist that much. But the order of the "nat" configurations is changed to avoid further problems with the NAT order.
no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

I suggest trying the changes related to VPN L2L first NAT0 configurations and test traffic. So who gets the work of connectivity, then you could consider changing other NAT configurations. There are other things that could be changed also in what concerns THAT static NAT servers but that probably better left for another time.
Hope this makes any sense and has helped

Cisco ASA FTD software vs of firepower
Hello
I am confused between stuff Firepower FTD and software services of firepower. So is my questions based on what I understand:
With fire power module Services Software:
1. you have your normal OS ASA and then you download the power of Fire Services. Or is the compatible Firewall always comes with the power of Fire Services software pre installed?
2. so ASA will do - routing, ACLs, NAT, VPN
Software Services of firepower will be - STROKE, filtering URL, NGIPS, and AMP
This interpretation is correct?
3 ASA as well as firepower Services software can be managed by ASDM and CLI. But only firepower Services software can be managed by the management center of firepower that is only 4 of the power of Fire Services software mentioned above functions can be controlled by the management center of firepower.
With Image FTD
4. There is only one image on the firewall. Fix? (I say image because to install the FTD, I need 2 sort files: as a *.lfbff. file and a .pkg file.) Still confused why)
5. all functions mentioned above for ASA as well as those provided by the power of fire Software Services will be managed ONLY by the management center of firepower. This means that even if I have to add a simple ACE then I need to do by using the Management Center? Fix?
Please specify. With FTD/firepower is really confusing. :-(
1. the ASA is available with and without the power of fire pre-installed software module. It no additional cost to specify it with so we (my company that she and other partners) usually set with so she is already there in case the customer wants to activate later.
2. it is the overall track of functions. Duties of firepower require licenses. STROKE is included with the license of control without charge but NGIPS, filtering URL and malware (AMP) are licensed from the features that can be purchased separately.
3 correct. (And you can also manage the ASAs with CSM).
4. a file, a binary image package.
5 correct from 6.0. (Note not all features ASA legacy are currently available in DFT - notably missing are all types of remote VPN access.) Stay tuned for changes to that with the release of 6.1 this summer.
